A group of us came here for the Sunday Brunch and it was so worth it. The price is on the higher side but they want to be able to keep getting quality food and pay their workers well. The energy is so positive and uplifting, which adds to the service. The waffle grilled cheese was my favorite

Great experience. Five course "menu-less" tasting dinner. The chefs David and Justin created a fantastic meal that is served in an intimate yet edgy old home converted into a great restaurant. Well done. Will definitely be back!

I wasn't really sure what to expect. This was excellent. The chefs were fun and friendly and the food was outstanding. Casual atmosphere (which is fun!) I honestly am not sure if I can pick a favorite I ate. I'll never eat these Brussels sprouts again, and I'm sad about it. Honestly one of the best meals I've had in a while. Thank-you for the lovely meal. If you're not sure, I recommend you go. I'll definitely try to go again when I'm back in town.

Amazing potato soup that I could of drank a gallon of

This is a week late, but I always have to give this place all the love and praise! If I ever became rich I'd eat here almost every night!!! No but seriously! The energy is so fun, the drinks are constantly being poured and the food is out of this world!!!! Run, down walk.... Oh and go ahead of your rese cause you will need one and go next door and grab a beer from The garden by Charles Towne Fermatory!

Wonderful meal with Chefs Ross & Justin. Our 2nd time and we will be back every time we are in Charleston.

I've wanted to try R Kitchen since I moved to CHS 4 years ago, but their unique reservation process just never lined up with special occasions to make it over that way. Recently, family was visiting with a wide-open schedule, and it worked out. I texted the number on their website, and they worked with me to reserve the right time and location. Super easy. They also asked about dietary constraints and said they'd try to work around any. We showed up early for our reservation, and pattered around the parking lot. Doors opened promptly at 6, and the staff was super welcoming as we sat down. We had some great conversations and enjoyed looking at the eclectic decor. Overall, the experience was great and I'd like to try it again. I loved hearing how the chefs developed the menu, and 2 of the 5 courses were absolutely top notch. 1 was pretty good. The other 2 courses were something I could make at home with minimal effort, so I was disappointed. They were good, but nothing special in terms of uniqueness and flavor. The chefs were awesome to talk to, and I would recommend this experience at least once to all Charlestonians.

What a lovely experience!! A hidden gem, easily passed by but you should definitely seek this restaurant out if you love food and surprises. The concept is fascinating as you don't know the menu ahead of time and the chefs are available to chat and answer all of your foodie questions. There are about ten rotating chefs, three each seating who create and develop their own courses while collaborating with the other chefs and their courses. So much fun guessing the ingredients, tasting each one that was carefully selected, and then trying them combined to see how the chef wanted to pair all of those flavor profiles. I truly enjoyed the chefs company and how eager they were to answer questions. You could clearly see their passion for food and people. Even if you aren't adventurous and apprehensive about not knowing the menu, it seems they keep it pretty palette friendly. They also account for food allergies and have substitutions at the ready. I highly recommend R Kitchen, even more so than restaurants by the likes of Brock or Lata. This is better priced, an interactive, fun experience and well thought out, delicious food.

Oooo I love the vibes here! Whoever designed this restaurant did a great job giving it an "old…read moremoney/Gatsby era" boujee gastro-pub type of feel. It managed to be both upscale and casual at the same time. We loved it! My husband and I sat at the bar and ordered the short rib sliders & disco fries to share. Both were excellent!! The fries tasted like they came from fresh, real potatoes (not frozen) and the short rib sliders just melted in your mouth; I could have eaten 100 of them! I would definitely come back here again and would also recommend checking this place out if you're in the area :)

As the restaurant was recommended to me by Daryl at the Homewood Suites, I decided to walk there…read more Upon arriving at the property, I was unsure of the location of the main entrance. I saw a woman who had just finished a conversation on her cell phone walking into one part of the L-shaped facility, so I followed her. "The host" asked whether I wanted to be seated inside or outside. I told him I had no preference. Landon, who became my server, then escorted me to the attached building, carrying menus and two glasses of water. Shortly after I was seated, Landon approached and asked if I would like a drink. I ordered a Margarita. Since I already knew what I wanted for my entrée, I also ordered the French Dip with French Fries. The French Dip arrived warm, but the fries were cold. When Landon inquired about my meal, I informed him of the situation. He immediately took the fries away. After I finished the French Dip, I received the fries. I do not know whether they were the original fries that had been reheated or a fresh order. Regardless, these fries were hot. Shortly afterward, the young man who had originally asked where I wanted to sit came to my table and removed my dirty dishes. Landon then brought me my check. Due to the circumstances, I was given a discount on my bill. Anyway, I did not hear either of them ask whether I wanted dessert. Perhaps because of my complaint, they just wanted me out. Oh well-- their loss! I really wanted to tried their Sundae! Landon again apologized for the cold French fries. He provided very good service throughout my meal, so I do not fault him for the kitchen's mistake. Based on the restaurant's L-shaped design, with two separate buildings and the kitchen located in one building while some of the dining area is in the other, I realize that meals may become cooler by the time they reach the table. Therefore, I would highly recommend requesting a table in the building where the bar is located. Lastly, serving water in a plastic cup, in my opinion, gives the restaurant a rather cheap appearance. Considering the overall setting, I would expect water to be served in a proper glass.

Brace yourselves--this is going to be a long one, because this experience deserves every bit of it…read more We recently had the opportunity to do a chef's tasting at Honeysuckle Rose, and from the very first interaction, it was clear this wasn't going to be your average night out. We had a bit of a hiccup to start--we couldn't find our gift card (of course). I called and spoke with Kelleanne, and I have to say, this is truly where the experience began. She was warm, understanding, and genuinely funny, turning what could have been a stressful moment into something easy and even enjoyable. She handled everything with kindness and grace, and it set the tone for the evening ahead. A couple of days before our reservation, we received a confirmation call from James--but not the typical kind. He asked thoughtful, personal questions: who my guest would be, our water preferences (yes, really), allergies, absolute no-go foods, and even a song that held meaning to us. At that point, our curiosity was fully piqued. When we arrived, the space immediately stands out. It's very dark--blacked-out windows, black walls, black ceiling--and it's all completely intentional. Before the meal began, Kelleanne explained that the goal is to create an intimate dinner party atmosphere, where you forget the outside world and fully immerse yourself in the experience. And it works. It really works. At your seat, you're given what feels like an invitation--that's your menu for the evening. Each course is introduced by chef River and sommelier Mary Kate, adding a personal and thoughtful touch to every dish. I won't go course-by-course (we'd be here all night), but just know: every single one was worthy of praise. Chef River is absolutely crushing it. We were lucky enough to sit at the chef's counter, which I highly recommend if you can swing it. Watching chefs River, Ryan, and Trae work was like witnessing a perfectly choreographed performance. After each course, every surface was meticulously cleaned--counters wiped, stoves reset--everything returned to pristine condition before the next dish began. It was as impressive as the food itself. And it doesn't stop there. You notice Cody in the back, carefully polishing each glass and plate to perfection. Every single person on the team is fully invested in making this an extraordinary experience--and that's exactly what it is. What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail and the personal touches. Maybe you get an extra bite, a meaningful story from Mary Kate, or a surprise dessert to celebrate something special. There's an element of the unexpected that makes the evening feel uniquely yours. We left completely blown away. Not just by the food, but by the people. Kelleanne and Ryan are the kind of individuals you genuinely enjoy watching succeed--they bring something special to the entire experience. And a quick note for those who notice the details (like I do): even the bathroom is stunning--beautifully designed and just as intentional as everything else in the space. If you're looking for something truly different, immersive, and unforgettable--this is it. Don't think twice. Book the reservation. We'll absolutely be back, and we're already looking forward to exploring their other concepts.

The last tasting menu experience I had was at a 1 Michelin star in Italy so I tried not to keep my hopes too high but I was excited. Before you show up, you get several texts and then a phone call to ask if you prefer still or sparkling water which I've never been asked prior. I was greeted by a lovely hostess at the front door to check in and get walked to my seat at the chef's counter. I was sitting in between 2 people and to my surprise the lady next to me was the owner's sister. The place is so cute, low lighting and the decor was chic and sexy. The bathrooms are some of the coolest and nicest I've ever been in. (make sure you try both ) There's a card with my name on it and inside you find the menu which I thought was super personable and cute. Before they started service, the owners Kelleanne and Ryan came out with their team and just shared some words and then the Sommelier poured our first glass of champagne Each chef took turns before each course talking about the dish and the intention behind it as well as the somm for each wine poured. I cannot begin to describe how intuitive the service was, seamless and utter perfection. The attention to detail was impressive. In between courses you see the ENTIRE team working together in the back - polishing glassware and silverware, garnishing, dropping off dishes and all working together. Getting to see the owners assist in all of that was humbling to see that they were not above doing the tedious work and that they lead by example. Each course was perfect and paired with delicious selections of wine. I didn't think I would get full from this dinner because they were small tasting portions but man by course 6 I was getting close. First of all, I've never had a popover and holy cow it was delicious! She even packed a handful for me Togo as an extra bday touch! So thoughtful! The BEST thing ever was the slices of buttery, melt in your mouth first time ever served there - Japanese A5 Wagyu. At the end they brought out these mini cupcakes with candles for all the guests celebrating all things including me. They really know how to make you feel special. We also all got to leave with their special chocolate covered Oreos made by grandma which was a nice touch. They really know how to create a memorable experience and they made you feel like family. A plus was the bomb playlist that Kelleanne played during dinner. I thorough enjoyed myself and this in fact took first over my Michelin experience in Italy. I loved every aspect of it and it's totally worth every penny! I will be back with hubby! Thank you to the entire team!

First of all we showed up around 5:45pm after I finished work and put our names on the waitlist…read more The nice hostesses told us it would be an 1:20 hr wait so we walked around on King Street while we waited. We got the text that our table was ready at 6:40pm so quicker than expected which was nice. Upon arriving we got seats at the bar and can I say the service was exceptional. The bartenders knew everything about the menu and striked the perfect balance of letting us enjoy our dinner while also stepping in when they heard our questions. This Chicken Liver Pate was one of the best, most balanced, full of flavor appetizers my husband and I have ever experienced. All the accoutrements that went with it were perfect and the toast it came with were perfectly warm and toasted. Huge shout out to FIG bartenders/servers for their flawless service and offering us extra toast and accoutrements when they saw we had run out. Perfection! The crudo app was also tasty and while I enjoyed the flavors were more subtle so my husband thought the dish was a bit flat. This is probably not necessary to order. We ordered both the crab ravioli and gnocchi and both were absolutely fantastic. I loved the texture of the crab ravioli pasta and fresh flavors. My husband was obsessed with the gnocchi and loved how they were so soft and were like mashed potatoes. At this point we didn't think the meal could be topped with anything but the duck was seriously the best we had ever had. Sliced so thin, it was reminiscent of sashimi. We both agreed the dish was pretty perfect. I would say the duck is a must if it is something you enjoy. Finally, we finished with the dark chocolate budino and that was also delicious. Definitely thick and decadent but surprisingly not crazy sweet. The dark chocolate was a good balance to the caramel. Finally, vibe and ambiance were moody, a little loud but not crazy, and not too crowded when we came!

Nothing was wrong with it, but also nothing was THAT special. Also, we felt like the space is like a sound tunnel and it gets LOUD. I was having trouble hearing people on my table talk due to the higher than usual crown noise. Overall: It is a good experience, food is good , service is polite and cordial, but it was definitely not worth the hype and months of wait and anticipation. It is a good spot for an elevated dinner but, the hype it has been blown out of proportion.
