WOW! Go!! This place was fantastic. Top notch service free m beginning to end. Our server Justin was a star. My wife has a fish allergy and they offered to prepare a vegetable plate for her. They prepared three vegetable dishes, which were all excellent. He recommended the boulliabase which was phenomenal. I would highly recommend it to anyone. My wife also had the arugula salad, which was excellent. I started with the chicken liver pate, which is all it is claimed to be. I honestly did not think that the blue crab ravioli was anything special. In fact I could have skipped that dish and had been fine and would've had more room to finish the shrimp in the boulliabase. Desserts were outstanding. Chocolate budin (pudding) was delicious. Rice pudding was also quite nice with the fresh strawberries. The place itself was nice. Dark lighting. After waiting for months to make a reservation, we finally got to try Fig. We ordered an assortment of plates to share and everything was good and cooked correctly but there was nothing that stuck to my head like the BEST ever. Nothing was wrong with it, but also nothing was THAT special. Also, we felt like the space is like a sound tunnel and it gets LOUD. I was having trouble hearing people on my table talk due to the higher than usual crown noise. Overall: It is a good experience, food is good , service is polite and cordial, but it was definitely not worth the hype and months of wait and anticipation. Started off on the wrong foot, server didn't get our drink order until 10-15 mins of being sat. Country ham was delicious and the best country ham ive had, but the peach left a lot to be desired, it had no flavor whatsoever. Maybe that was intentional to not overpower the ham... Golden tile fish was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had perfectly cooked and the flavors balanced so well. Wife's bavette steak was excellent with the peppers. Potato purée was not worth the price at all. $16 for some pretty good mashed potato's, I don't care how good a potato is or who you are, that's just insane to me. Last complaint was there was a film of dust lining the wall we were sat next to. So all in all, some really good dishes. One of those meals where every dish hits, and a few truly stand out. Cocktails overall were outstanding, but there was one hiccup worth noting. There's a "regular" Old Fashioned and options to "elevate," which significantly increases the price. My wife had difficulty reading the menu and relied on the server, who suggested the upgrade without clearly explaining the cost. She ended up with a $45 Old Fashioned that was noticeably smaller than my standard one--and honestly not as good. We mentioned it, but didn't get much beyond a polite acknowledgment. That said, it didn't take away from what was otherwise a fantastic night. Still an easy 5 stars--honestly, it deserves 6. Great service, exceptional food, strong accessibility, and a beautiful space. I came to FIG hungry, excited, and fully expecting to understand why it's spoken about with near-religious reverence. We ordered broadly, not because we couldn't decide, but because we wanted to experience what the kitchen had to offer. By the end of the night, the bill was $355, and the only thing heavier than my wallet was my disappointment. The fish was good. The dessert was good. That's where the excitement ended. The steak was ordered medium. It arrived with a gummy texture, little character, and almost no seasoning. Not offensive--just forgettable. The chicken pâté was competent, but not something I'd spend the next week thinking about. In fact, that became the theme of the entire meal: technically fine, emotionally empty. As a chef, I know not every dish has to scream. Restraint has its place. But restraint isn't the same thing as under-seasoning, and simplicity isn't an excuse for food that leaves no lasting impression. I don't send food back, even when the server kindly gave us the opportunity. That's not how I dine. I judge the experience as it's presented. The biggest surprise wasn't that the food was bad--it wasn't. It was that nothing impressed me. Nothing made me stop, smile, or think, "Now that's special." The night before, we spent less than half as much at Church and Union and had a meal that was bolder, more memorable, and infinitely more satisfying. FIG may have the accolades, but on my trip to Charleston, it wasn't even close. For $355, I don't expect perfection. I do expect to leave talking about at least one unforgettable dish. Got a late reservation here for a Friday birthday dinner and they definitely delivered. Had a great server who helped us on what to order and we loved everything we got. Not everything pictured but oysters were great, seafood was good but the gnocchi was amazing. I am still thinking about it! I am usually not a huge fan of big ricotta gnocchi but this truly melted in your mouth. My least favorite things were the cocktails - just didn't love what we tried but risk you take with random drinks outside the norm. Definitely recommend coming here for some yummy food! Wow! Wow! Wow! This place is incredible. From the moment you walk in the door the incredible service starts. My husband uses a scooter and this place really was above par. For a top busy restaurant the space between the tables was great! We were early for our reservation and they quickly sat us down. The vibe in the restaurant is cozy, warmth the leather benches were so comfy and the lighting was dim. The wait staff came over promptly with water. We had a training wait person who did a fabulous job! We started with the chicken liver pate which was so very creamy and delicious! The special appetizer was a special kind of grits, mushrooms and poached egg. It was my husband's top dish yet! We both had pasta, please go and eat the ricotta gnocchi with lamb bolognese. There's a reason this place is always so busy. It was AMAZING. We had the best waiter ever: Robert. Who is a trained and experienced Chef himself, so the way described every dish was awesome. He gave us the best recommendations for food and wine. I got the broiled oysters (best thing I've ever tasted) and the special truffle Agnolotti pasta where they bring the truffle to your table and shave it onto the dish in front of you (so so good). What a treat. Service was impeccable. Moss was attentive and knowledgeable and perfect. Split gnocchi for app. Light and complex sauce though not many bits of meat like regular bolognese. Still taste was superb. Hubby got steak and I got flounder. We both loved both entrees yet next time I'd get steak and he'd get flounder. I don't normally eat the fish skin but this was crispy and as good as crisp chicken skin. Chowder below was quite light. Steak was in a reduced sauce that was just amazing hubby thought it to be a bit salty but I liked it just as is. We don't use salt at home so we are sensitive to it. Very little to improve upon. When we git the gnocchi to split we didn't notice they had brought serving spoon and left it on edge of our table. That's it. Bar scene looked lively but classy and friendly. This was our last night in SC or we'd have hit the bar here again. Table next to us had regulars there and both got the bolliourbase so I'd get that next time. FIG was amazing! I went with my coworker when we were in Charleston for work. FIG has been on my list of wanting to try for awhile now. We could not snag a reservation but were able to walk in and sit in the bar area with a pretty short wait (surprisingly). We started with a few small plates to share, my absolute favor was the gnocchi, it just melted in your mouth. I read another review that said they just kept saying "wow" and that could not be more accurate. The ambiance I would say is quant. It's pretty dark/moody, nice vibe. I had high hopes for FIG in Charleston but left disappointed. The menu is misleading--we wanted the "Ricotta Gnocchi + Lamb Bolognese," but the waiter informed us it also contains beef. Why isn't such a major ingredient listed? Especially for those who do not eat beef. For the "Farm Egg Raviolo + Alba White Truffle," we were told it's just one piece of ravioli for $55, which felt absurd. My mashed potatoes were just okay--not worth the price. My friend said the oysters were amazing, but even with that, we both agreed we'd never return. Lastly, while not required, many restaurants acknowledge birthdays with a small gesture/desert, etc but FIG didn't do anything. Tried forever to get a reservation at FIG twenty-eight days prior when the booking was initially available on our trip to Charleston! Unfortunately, we did not have any luck..... I called the day before we arrived, and they told me I could stand in line outside 15 minutes prior to the restaurant opening for the day at 5:00pm. This would probably secure a table for us in the bar area, but not guaranteed. My husband and I were very ambitious, as FIG was highly recommended to us by family/friends. Therefore , we arrived 35 minutes before opening time, and were the first two people on line!!!!! Needless to say we had a wonderful and memorable experience at FIG!!! Food, ambiance and attention to every detail was evident throughout....I highly suggest you check out this amazing restaurant, and keep trying to make your reservation well in advance to your visit.... I ate here about 10 years ago with my kids and we enjoyed it so much as every dish we had was so delicious. I haven't had a chance until now to come back but I've never forgotten this experience. I was so excited to get to bring my husband here to try it for our anniversary. It was as delicious as I remember. Hannah was awesome helping us decide on what to order. We had the chicken pate, gnocchi, ravioli. Steak(not super tender but super flavorful. Sticky pudding and sorbet. Each dish was super. Using local ingredients and usually similar menus: flounder, pork chop, shrimp and grits. NYsteaks etc. they all apply their version of each dish-- all good, all really different. So why FIG? Different menu not trying to compete with the "goods" I haven't tried all the restaurants in Charleston but I bet no other restaurant approaches food like FIG. If you're fortunate to score a table , take it. 30 days in advance is common. Be warned. Beautiful interior unlike the goods, example. Two highly recommended spots, SNOB, Magnolias, are way more bistro interiors vs FIG's simple elegance. The food, service are great and not pretentious. This is special. read more

I can't believe I didn't take a photo of it, but it was great. The Sorgham pudding was probably the only disappointment and even then I would give it a four out of five. Once inside we were greeted and seated promptly. I'm going to get the party started with a Fig Filthy Martini. Made with Ketel One Olive Oil washed Vodka, this was a stirred, not shaken perfect martini. My sister in law and I zeroed in on the homemade pate. The Chicken Liver Pate was very flavorful, it was an excellent starter dish. The Ricotta Gnocchi alla Bolognese was very light compared to the typical starchy potato Gnocchi. From the sauce to the cheese, another enjoyable dish. So far FIG is getting figgy with all servings. What impressed me the most? Our waiter. Man... he explained in great detail every dish we ordered, he knew the menu inside and out. I ordered a Sangiovese wine, kudos again to the wine sommelier. Excellent choice for the low country dishes being served. I'm not sure what Pan Roasted Coulotte Steak cut I was served but it was cooked perfectly and had an amazing flavor. We're all pretty packed but asked for (4) spoons as we dug into the Carolina Gold Rice Pudding. A perfect dessert to end the perfect meal.
