With the current quarantine we have ordered meals both delivered and picked up. Even ordering from the senior menu, there was enough for a light lunch the next day. The food was hot and everything was delicious . My husband loved the chopped sirloin and I really liked the breaded cod, but to be honest we loved everything from the soup to the chocolate pie. The service from the person taking the order to those who delivered it could not have been more pleasant or accommodating . This has always been one of our favorite restaurants for breakfast, brunch and lunch. It has now become one of our favorites for dinner. read more

Found this place on Yelp for breakfast. It did not disappoint! I had Irish Eggs Benedict (corned beef instead of ham) and it was awesome. My son had the southern platter and loved it--a lot of food though. A cup of coffee and a side of toast with that totaled $21.69. Not bad at all. Picked up the food only to get home and learn they forgot bbq sauce, we paid for EXTRA on both sandwiches. We went back and they attempted to CHARGE US ON TOP OF WHAT WE ALREADY PAID! Got home again and found out are medium rare burgers were RAW! Not medium rare or rare, FLIPPING RAW MEAT! 2 1/2 years at McDonald's and we would have never sent meat out like that. Fries, ice cold. Bun was hard. Then when we called back to report the raw food, they told us we would have to come back with the food, leave, wait until they were done, and then they would make us a new food and call us when we're done.... Unbelievable. Sat for at least 10 minutes before we even got asked about drinks. Hadn't seen our server yet...another server came by and asked if we wanted something to drink while we waited. We both asked for water...she promptly disappeared. The hostess came over and asked if we had been helped, then said she couldn't find our server. Huh? Our server finally appeared...took our order without apologizing for the now-15-minute wait. We watched 3 tables get drinks and place their orders before we got water. I'm writing this while we're still waiting for our food. Just witnessed a couple leave after coffee because of poor service. Their food better be phenomenal.... Still waiting. 25 minutes. The kicker to this is I haven't yelped in years and downloaded the app to my phone specifically to write this review. Food: Subpar at best. Thank God for Dearborn Ham. It's the only thing that made this meal worth eating. The hash browns looked decent, but there was an odd taste...possibly instant or frozen maybe, but I have never had a problem with frozen potatoes so I doubt that's the case. I've been to this restaurant twice and it's safe to say I won't be back. This first time was for dinner. We ordered nachos without tomatoes, it came out with tomatoes and canned cheese. When I told the waitress we didn't want tomatoes she asked me if I was allergic and I told her no but I really didn't like them. She took them back and returned less than 1 minute later. It was clear that they just picked them off. They also sprinkled a tiny bit of shredded cheese on top (to hide the fact they picked off the tomatoes). They were cold and unappetizing. I had a wrap and my husband had a Reuben, both were good. Our second visit was for breakfast. I had to send mine back because my eggs were overcooked and the bacon was burnt. When they brought my food the second time both the eggs and bacon were now undercooked. Also, they served me the same toast, which was now cold and rubbery. I know this for sure because it had egg yolk on the corner where I dipped it in the egg the first time. The final straw was when I looked at my bank account and saw that they overcharged me by more than 50$. After a few phone calls they refunded me in cash, that I had to go pickup myself. read more

Having read some of the reviews saying the food is good, I decided to grab a late lunch at R Diner while waiting for a prescription to be filled at the nearby CVS. There were two... maybe three tables seated/eating when I walked in. I sat in a booth and waited. And waited. And waited. The waitress passed by me half a dozen times like I wasn't there. I even double-checked to see if I had missed the "Please wait to be seated" sign, but there was no such sign. A man that looked to be the owner or manager was standing near the cash register, doing nothing. Finally after about 6-7 minutes (10 if I was an exaggerater) The waitress told me she would be with me shortly. After 5 or so more minutes, during which she must have passed by my table numerous times, I had still not even received a menu, a water, a place setting, nothing. I finally stood up and walked out, and I don't think anyone, including the big shot by the register, even noticed. R Diner may have good food, but I'll never find out. Service is equally important, and in that catagory they are a total fail. read more

Unlike many other places, they take your order professionally. Breakfast here is good and plentiful for what you spend. I had eggs, toast, potatoes and bacon. My only complaint about my breakfast here is that my bacon was super hot and my eggs were a tad colder than I would have liked. Everything tasted very good, though. I had enough to take with me and finish back at the office. My club sandwich was very good, although not a traditional club sandwich. Club sandwiches typically being turkey (no ham) and with three slices of bread, and here it's two big pieces of think toast with ham as well as the turkey. I normally love rdiner. The tuna melt is the best. That being said I had an awful experience the last time I ate there. The wait staff was slow and rude. When we were finally able to order our food it took over 30 minutes. My food was perfect, but there was an issue with my dates. When we brought it to the attention of the waitress she took it back to the cook (owner?). Then he came out of the kitchen and began talking down to us and then he started yelling at us. My family and I dined at this restaurant for the second time last weekend. My first visit for breakfast. The restaurant was busy as it was Mother's Day. However, there were many issues with the service/food. We were seated quickly and our waitress was very nice and helpful. However, it took awhile to get our food. The food was room temperature, not as hot as it should have been. The syrup served was a bottle of Aunt Jemima and the toast was not even toasted and extremely thick. The quality of food was not great and showed that the items were not made from scratch. After finishing our food and the waitress clearing the table another 20 minutes went by and our bill was never delivered to our table. We decided to just go to the hostess station and ask for our own bill. My brother and I were treating our parents to breakfast so we asked to have the bill split in 1/2. This is not an unusual request as I have done this at several other restaurants before. The cashier said there was no problem and proceeded to check us out... unfortunately she charged the entire bill to my brothers credit card. After apologizing a couple hostesses tried to correct the issue. While not having any luck the young girl proceeded to ask the owner who was sitting at the bar for help. The bar is located right at the front of the restaurant where we were standing as well as other people who were waiting for a table. He proceeded to yell at the young girl loud enough for my brother and I to hear "Tell them that they will just have to pay for the bill on one card! Tell them we can't do it for them!" His tone and mannerisms were very nasty and not professional at all. The poor young girl was very upset by the way he was speaking with her. We felt very bad for her and didn't mean to get her in trouble so after 15 minutes waiting for this issue to be resolved we just decided to charge it all on one credit card so we could get out of there. My family and I have decided we will never dine at this restaurant again due to the way the employees were treated, slow service and under par food. read more

Was in town for a funeral and on the last morning there two us went to the R Diner for breakfast. We mentioned that we only had an hour at most to the hostess. We were seated and a waitress came over to us within a couple of minutes, just enough time to look over the menus. The waitress stated that she had heard we only had an hour, and took our orders for big breakfasts. I thought it was pretty great that the hostess and the waitress had communicated our time issue and were on top of it. The food came, typical but good quality breakfast eggs, bacon, etc. When the waitress returned, she asked if we could like any coffee in to go cups. We both declined but again it was very impressive.
