The breakfast is good, one of the best in the city. My only issue is that they charge a phenominal fee to deliver - $4.99???...I mean, they charge way more than Tiffanys Pizza to go the same distance. So I come out better getting pizza, for lunch because its not worth that extra money. read more

This was the poorest experience I have ever had there. They still let you seat yourself and pretty much let you sit anywhere. We sat at the end of a long table which they said was open and then they proceeded within 10 min. to let people take booths on both sides of us instead of properly social distancing them. The restaurant was an icebox with the air conditioning blowing full blast. We had to ask 3 different people to turn the air down one of which just laughed. After awhile it finally was turned off only to be jacked back up. Only thing food wise that was good were the French Fries and Salad. Steak on special was on the tough side and was not cooked medium as asked for. The Walleye was full of bones. I am rating a three because it was our first visit and we only tried breakfast. (When we return and if their lunch and dinner is as good as breakfast, I will surely rate a four). Summary: Restaurant was very clean. Service was great. Wait staff very nice. Food: I had the Hungry Man and the link sausage was awesome. I am accustomed to two pieces of toast with breakfast and they only served one piece, although it was a very thick Texas-style bread. My son is a hot dog "expert" and he liked R Diner's Coney dogs better than his former "favorite" (Delta Coney Island). My four-year old loved the Wiki sticks they gave him to play with (and take home), while waiting for our food. Very nice touch! We will definitely return to experience their lunch and dinner menu. The restaurant is a really nice place to eat. The service and food are both really good. I had the Creamy Mushroom Soup for the first time, and WOW!!! It was very, very, good. I recommend it if you like this type of soup. Homemade, and I was told the owner comes in and makes it herself with no one around so they can't see what she puts in it...Legend?? Fact?? I have eaten here many times now, and really enjoy the food and have yet to have bad service, or less than good food, and every one is very upbeat and cheerful. The only thing that I would change is to have more than one slice of toast for Breakfast. To get a side order of another slice is $1.99 extra. read more

Came in for the first time for dinner on Ash Wednesday the service and food was excellent. We even got a banana cream pie to share which was excellent ( from Cakes by Stephanie). Went back in this morning for breakfast. Had the special banana pancakes and my husband got the house special over easy with big toast. My boyfriend and I stopped in here for a late breakfast and chose to try R Diner because we'd never been in before. Every member of their staff seemed friendly and the decor was gorgeous! He ordered the chicken fried steak and I got the strawberry crepes, a side of bacon, and an order of scrambled egg whites. He had nothing but good things to say about his meal and I can easily say the same about mine! The crepes not only were beautifully prepared, but they tasted amazing! Hands down the best crepes I've ever tasted! You could tell they were hand made; not just thawed and warmed up like some other places. The bacon was a thick cut and the egg whites were delicious! The restaurant was very clean, and looked great. Our server was just okay. Food was just okay. I had the meatloaf and thought it was very dry. I think I would go back, but for breakfast. It's nice to see something new in Monroe. If I was the owner I would change up the servers uniforms. It doesn't match the look of the decor. I can only judge what I ordered. The waitress was excellent. I ordered turkey, and it was off a roll. I ordered dressing, and it was dry and crispy. I ordered mashed potatoes, and they were the most "instant" potatoes I've had in my life. The corn was fine. My mother got chicken with peppers on it and said it was good. She also ordered a double order of green beans (as was detailed in the bill), but she received the same sides I did. Nice, quiet atmosphere. Clean. read more

We ate here one time a good while ago and the lady who seemed to be the owner was very nasty when my girlfriend said at the counter, that the pie had mold...she pretty much called her a liar, till the waitress agreed with my girlfriend that it did have mold. My experience here was really unfortunate, I went here on a Sunday. The hostess opened the doors for us and then stared at us awkwardly while we read the "please wait to be seated" sign, we picked our own table and she brought us the "Sunday Menu" it was very limited to sandwiches or breakfast. We were displeased with the menu but having already ordered drinks, we decided to stick it out. Our waitress realized the hostess forgot to deliver a specials menu and I felt relief knowing that I had some more options until I was given a sheet of paper with 4 seasonal items such as pumpkin pancakes that I was just not particularly in the mood for. We settled for two meat lovers skillets and the kid picked out the hot dog and fries. The waitress informed us upon ordering that the DINER was OUT OF FRENCH FRIES which was a huge deal breaker for the kid. He asked if they had regular potato chips and she said yes. When our food arrived the skillets were not in a skillet but on a plate, which if you've ever had a skillet breakfast in a cast iron skillet, you know it's much better. The chips my step son received in lieu of his french fries were far from regular potato chips they were waffleish, stale or overcooked and lacking salt he took one bite and left the rest to dump, I understood why when I tasted one for myself. The owner of the restaurant and a few others held a meeting about twelve ft from our table, we heard them complaining about the people they've been hiring in the kitchen while we were trying to eat our food. We walked the tab up ourselves and when we left the locked the doors behind us, if only they had locked them before we arrived. I've heard the carry out menu has many options but it definitely did not reflect that on the dine in menu we received. The place looked tastefully decorated and neat but the food and choices proved to be mediocre and might I add the waitress knew the kids food was mediocre and the drink wasn't even included in the kids meal after all of that disappointment.. Safe to say, I wouldn't recommend this establishment to a loved one and I won't be returning. read more

I came here for a late lunch and really enjoyed what I ordered. I ordered the Wednesday special which was stuffed cabbage and it was absolutely delicious, the stuffed cabbage came with mashed potatoes and gravy and corn. Our waitress brought out a bread basket and the corn bread was great. There were a ton of options on the menu and everything looked so delicious. My boyfriend ordered the polish plate that had pierogies, kraut, potatoes and kielbasa. He absolutely loved it and said it was delicious and tasted very homemade. I don't live in Monroe but if I did I would hit this place often, there's something for everyone and they even deliver! Bad day at this diner. Two glasses of no syrup pop before giving up and changing to a different flavor. Table of four customers two tried breakfast one a club sandwich and I ordered a patty melt. The food brought to me was a tuna melt both breakfast were cold club was right because it's served cold. When I pointed out that my meal was wrong they offered to make it right. This would take another twenty five minutes so I said just skip it and ate a couple of fries. My wife ordered a coffee with dinner but we never received this either. My bill still had my TUNA melt on it so I asked to have it removed from my bill. At this point I was told that they would only remove the sandwich and I was expected to pay for the fries that I ate a couple of. I will never return to this place. read more

I ordered a delivery meal so please note that my review is not based on a visit to this restaurant but rather the delivery and qualify of food I received. The delivery man was on his phone when he arrived. I had to stand at my door and wait for him to finish his call while he stood on my stoop. Not a fan of that. The food was good. The chicken Gyro was good, although the meat was a bit dry and there was so much tzatzki sauce in the gyro that it was leaking out the bottom. The sweet potatoe fries were nice and hot and had a good consistency. The falafel was pretty good, although a it overdone. The toom (garlic sauce), though, was amazing. Definitely will be getting that again. I also ordered the pita and hummus platter. The humas was good and I got about the same amount I would would have received if I went grocery shopping. However, only 1 pita was included as dipers. There is no way that 1 piece of bread, delicious as it was, was enough for this amount of hummus. read more

We recently went to this restaurant for a meal even though our first two trips were less than desirable; there will be no future meals here. The BLT on Texas toast comes with 2 pieces of bacon. The owner claims that is due to their use of high quality foods that are made fresh daily. Chicken sandwich was dry and the mac&cheese was made with canned cheese (waitress told us this). The owner has accused my wife and I of only coming in 'for free food' on another review I wrote. We paid for our meal and never intended to go there for free food. Some people like the food but three trips with subpar meals and then to be insulted by the management and owner was enough for us. Very disappointed! Chili fries were soggy and tasted like sauce from a can. I should have known better to order the Mediterranean oasis platter. First I had to go back to get my Fatoush salad and Tzatziki sauce and when I opened it the cucumbers appeared old, it looked like they put spaghetti sauce on my rice. the garlic sauce was runny and watered down and I saw absolutely no turmeric on anything.
