Honest, knowledgeable, fair, and kind. I have been going to R&L for the last 5 years. Rob cares about getting my car back on the road as soon as possible at a reasonable price. Rob has also given me a ride home and picked me up when my car was ready. He has never left me stranded. He sees me in an instant, so I know when he says swing by and I'll take a look, I know there's no waiting and his answer is honest, accurate, and knowledgeable. I first met Rob after a failed smog check, I drove from car shop to car shop looking for estimates and i was getting discouraged and frustrated. I know I must have looked pathetic when I walked into his door .. exasperated and desperate. This is perfect opportunity to take advantage of a woman driving a car, but he did not! Rob listened to my problem and asked me to pop the hood. I began to panic about prices because of my last 4 stops before him with upwards near 80-200 to simply look at my car. Rob said just pop the hood. He looked for a moment said wait a minute... left and came back. He wiped his hands off and said you are good to go.. I said.. what do I owe you? He said come back when you need your car repaired. No charge. What other shops were trying to charge me for was a blown fuse that was preventing my car from passing emissions. My next visit to R & L ended after a frantic phone call. I was on my way to pick my daughter up from school, I was in tears. My car stopped over in Scottsdale for no apparent reason, and No, it wasn't out of gas. I struggled with a tow fee to Rob's way on the other side of town or a free tow to somewhere local. I called Rob, I told him I needed my car in the worst way for daily trips to and from school and that I wasn't sure if I should have it towed there or locally... he said send it over, he'd work with me.. He fixed my car. I gave him what I could on the bill and he wished me well. Next visit was about a year later.. I needed to get my brakes and several other things done. I told Rob I had $1000.00 to work with and I know in my heart of hearts it was a whole lot more that was done to my car but my bill was only $990.00 I gave him a 100.00 Tip for not dragging me through the ringer... I saw him knock money off my bill and cut corners where possible. My next trip was after my car's radiator exploded alongside the road. For 2 weeks, my car was overheating. I was not financially able to do much about the situation. I stopped by autozone and bought this copper stuff that expanded and filled holes in the radiator. It didn't work at all my car was still overheating terribly bad and it was to the point where I was driving about 30 seconds, and waiting for 2 hours for my car to cool... this went on the whole day one day... I just watched my car billow smoke and I drove. I called Rob. He said get it towed don't drive it. I had it towed to his place. I had been driving on a cracked radiator for several days possibly those 2 weeks. He also found my radiator cap between my radiator and my fan. Rob replaced my radiator inexpensively and again got me back on the road asking me to call him and not make my own solutions to these problems. **I can be difficult** I recently needed to see Rob again regarding my emissions testing. It was again a quick fix - I'm hard on fuses - I told Rob when I can afford to get my air conditioner fixed I'll be by to see him again. He has my business. Fast, knowledgeable, fair, kind, and a decent honest mechanic... he's never left me stranded. Thanks Rob for all you do. I appreciate your kindness and hard work. read more

He has had my vehicles for too long. He took so long in finishing a small item that my truck wound up being stolen from where he let it set. Five years have gone by on my 4runner waiting to be finished and over a year and half for my Tacoma. Sure has been a lot of excuses and reasons for delay but no notable resolutions. Don't go here, I thought we weee friends but friends don't treat friends this way. read more

let me stat off by saying he has taken 5k from me to buy nothing was ever done to my truck not even one screw removed. removed was my battery. So I had to pick up my truck with a tow truck still not working , he had the truck for over two years . He has been hiding. Ita been many excuses . He seems like a friendly guy, the opposite of that. Karma is just around the corner. read more

This guy is absolute trash!!!! I took my truck to get it fixed on at his shop and all he did was take $5500 for me and told me he was gonna buy parts, and never once he laid a finger on my truck. My truck was at the shop well over two years , I've been calling and calling him send him messages and he will not respond. I even picked up my truck, which was the same way. I left it there and he's nowhere to be seen at the shop. From what I'm looking at I'm not the first person he does this to. read more

R&L Automotive - Auto Repair Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

The man who runs this business is a dishonest thief. I gave him my car two months ago November 24, 2025, along with $800 (my huge mistake), Rob destroyed my car tearing my interior apart and never fixed it the original issue this is vandalism and theft. I had to have my vehicle towed to a genuine shop at an additional cost of $175. I can assure you that any positive review given on this platform is totally FALSE!!! I regret ever meeting him, and I can promise he will be sued along with reporting him to I the BBB the Secretary of State and every other platform I can find to try to stop him from doing this to anyone else. I relish in the opportunity to have a thief stopped. Not to mention I don't believe his real name is Rob!!!! R&L is not owned by anyone named Rob or Robert.... read more

Robb is an absolute charlatan, do not trust this man. He said he would sell my truck for me. He has now had the truck since December 2022. He said he would sell it for $8000. He has given me $2000 back and tells me that he put so much money repairing the truck that he never get the money he put back in. He kept my new truck for over a month and did a crappy job on the work that he did. I can't say anything bad enough for everything having to do with this scoundrel. read more

R & L Automotive just recently moved locations... so it's kind of hidden, but I've been going to him for years now. The good thing about this shop is that he's very flexible in scheduling etc., he also personally makes sure you have a ride to and from work or home etc. So needless to say he does pick up and drop offs. On top of that he works very hard in making sure every little scratch etc. is taken out! I just dropped my car off this morning and it had a pretty nasty dent and scratch the length of my full arm and width of my forearm. He said he's going to get it done for me today though! The turnaround on that is quick and amazing! On a side note though, he does motorcycle repairs, complete auto repairs, tune-ups & maintenance, air condition, brakes & wheel alignment, etc., and has certified technicians working for him.... Again, a little hard to find, but its right off 40th st. and University on the south side of university across from Jack in the Box.... Something fun, he has 3 birds (I'm not sure what kind they are), but one talks and its pretty entertaining, he has a very nice seating area with tv, water, etc., and has a pretty large fish tank to keep you entertained! Overall great by me! read more

1 star because he checked my car. I think. Just wanted to let everyone know. He tried to charge me MORE THAN 500$ for an Alignment. Im a woman and i should not be taken advantage of. I took it to a friend and he showed me nothing else was wrong with my car.. Took it to get aligned at another place AND THEY REASSURED ME.. Nothing else was wrong with my car.. Never going back here.. read more

He's just awesome. I drove an old rv from California to Texas and overheated in 108 heat. Phoenix is brutal but his team was an oasis to a stressed out novice driving a 30 year ford. He knew exactly how to fix it and called me everyday to until I made it to houston. Nothing beats a mechanic that knows his trade. Highly recommended, 5 states just ain't enough read more

BEWARE!! This so called mechanic shop kept my car for 4 months & destroyed my interior (plastic parts to get to my rag top) that needed replaced & they tried to glue the pieces back without replacing, destroyed the rubber around my windows & other parts in my car! My interior was trashed & exterior damaged!! When it rained or I went through a car wash the water would gush in my car! My new rag top didn't work! I would call to get an update & i was always being told it was almost done! It would have taken more $ to repair then what it was worth, so I had to buy another vehicle! I called my credit card company & was told that I could get most of my $ back, except the rag top cost because I paid that part separately to order before I took my car. It was past the time-frame that the credit card company would reimburse me. I wouldn't have been reimbursed at all, if I didn't demand to get my car back when I did because they were trying to delay me picking it up!!! This place took no accountability at all!! The only thing this shop did was not dispute my credit card claim (shop had 30-days to dispute) for me to get reimbursed!! read more

Been taking my Yamaha Vstar 1100 to Rob for about 5 years now. He always tells me what's going on with it...what are real problems to fix, and what can wait. He charges a fair price for work done. Today had to have him install a new starter. He got right on it, found one in stock locally, and within a few hours had it all completed. Does good, quality work. I would send anyone to him. I'm pleased I found him. He even gave me a ride home, so I didn't have to wait around, for my cycle to be done. read more

My family and I have been going to R and L Since the very first doors opened.... Rob is a knowledgeable friendly mechanic, and unlike most mechanics that see me walk through the door, sees that I am a woman he treated me like a grease monkey not the way most mechanics talk to and or treat me..... read more

Couldn't be happier with my work done at R & L, have worked with the shop 2 separate times now and both have been easy going and stress free! The Toyota dealership was charging me an arm and a leg for the work that needed to be done. Rest assure that he gave me a VERY honest price and was very quick to deliver my car back in tip top condition. I can honestly say this may be one of the most honest mechanics out there. I would refer anyone to this for great service and work. Thank you again for your help! read more

Communication was rough to say the least. Pricing varied by conversation and after research was bloated. Time frame was not close to being met and repairs themselves were shoddy. Plenty of other options out there. read more

This is most definitely the best ran shop in Phoenix. Rob greets you himself, listens to your concerns and genuinely cares about his customers. As a female I feel we often times get taken advantage of because we don't know any better but at R&L they keep it honest. You have no worries and can trust this mechanic. I have come to Rob for over 12 years. Of course with various cars and issues and he has never failed my trust in him!!! Top shop for sure.. And I must add his pricing is more then fair and he is completely up front about the cost of parts and the labor cost.. Thank you Rob for getting me back on the rode your greatly appreciated read more

Amazing service and amazing work. My 2002 Honda Civic needed a lot of work done to get it back in pristine condition again. Thanks to the owner Rob and his crew, I am driving my car again like the first day I drove it new off the Honda dealership lot. I fully recommend this mechanic. He also offers free towing to his shop as long as you get the repair work done by his team. Amazing!! read more

I was in Phoenix with my mother last weekend (9/12/2015) and our Honda Fit started making a loud noise, we drove it to R and L and they told us exactly what was wrong with it. They gave us a ride back to our Hotel and called us within hours to let us know our car was ready. They offered to pick us up, but it was not necessary. Really Nice staff and very professional. read more

Ron with R&L Auto was fantastic! Needed State Vehicle Inspection and my car wouldn't pass, I was so frustrated and upset. Ron got me in & out so fast, he was very friendly, courteous and so kind, fixed my car and it passed the State Inspection, whew what a relief. STAY AWAY!!!!'........ New to Phoenix and was looking for an honest and knowledgeable auto repair mechanic......after 3 weeks with no results even after I paid the owner (Rob) $1300 (wheel bearings) for what the owner stated I needed after "his" diagnosis. I received my vehicle back and I still have the same problems as I did when I brought it in . But not only that, my vehicle now makes a loud screeching noise when I drive it (annoying as f*^k!) He asked me to drop the vehicle back off and I did.... So guess what???? It's not the bearings, it's my tires... (really?) per "his" second diagnosis. I cross my fingers he's right this time. Too much time and money wasted running back and forth..... Please stau read more

Let me begin with His honesty , do you know how difficult it is to find an honest ..a true honest mechanic?, when I first heard of him it crossed my mind the stereotype idea that every mechanic is going to hustle me.... I was wrong he is probably the most honest mechanic I've even heard of.. his work is quick his words are actions and his treatment is almost like family I can truly say blindfolding my eyes and his hands in my pocket he will only take the amount of the work that he has done not a dollar more , If you have life insurance and there is an agent you always deal with...This guy is my mechanic Agent from this day forward ...he even stayed 2 hours after his business hours to insure I get my car ...who does that?!, I highly recommend you check him out if you ever need work for on your car ...the guy is AWESOME! And shows allot of respect to his work ...after I took my car by 20 min he called me to make sure my car was working well just as if I left the dentist and the doctor is making sure his patients are ok!, I never went out of my way to write a yelp review so this is my first because no one ever gave me a reason to just take the time and express what a great honest service I had experienced !!!!! Take your time to experience what I did because hands down he is passionate about his work and above all he will give you a set price and you won't feel like you got hustled ! read more

I bought a 2004 Kia Sorento from them, and it was a really good deal, nice price and very reliable car. I've taken the car to a inspection with my mechanic and they confirm me that the car is perfect inside and out, so the owner was completely honest with me all the time. Also, as I am a foreign student, he spent his entire day helping me with the registration and all the paper work. He is a very nice guy. Don't hesitate on going there. read more
