To start off, this is one of my more favored boba chains. I used to love going to the location near my college in Fullerton. I think for this chain specifically, I appreciate how it's not overtly sweet and there is a milder sense of flavor that is classy. I used to love the brown rice milk tea and cereal milk tea that I unfortunately don't believe is available at this location. :( For this location, I really liked how bright the interior was and it looked super clean! The boba quality is always consistently good but like I mentioned before, I don't believe it's the best boba I've ever had but this chain would definitely be a top ten for me. The service was standard, the staff were super accommodating and nice. There was not much to go off on as the hand off was a super efficient and quick process and we ordered on the kiosk instead of at the register.

Went to R&B Tea for the first time today with my Sister for Mother's Day to fulfill my boba crazy. Walking in I was amazed at how bright and welcoming the space was. I especially liked the artificial plants on the tables. Like most places now, they have screens that you can order from that were easy to use and pictures of the drinks to make it easy to choose. My only complaint about them is that they were in a corner that were kind of hard to get to due to the table set up. I ordered a Thai Tea with brown sugar boba and it was really good. With this place so close to home, I'm excited to come back and try more off the menu.

R&B's National Boba Day Promotion

I stopped by R&B Tea for their National Boba Day promotion and found the staff to be incredibly friendly and efficient. My friend and I ended up ordering 10 drinks total, which earned us 2 very cute and stylish canvas bags! It was a fun way to celebrate the occasion and the quick service was much appreciated. As for the drinks, I tried the Devil's Booster and the Hawaiian Black Tea. Unfortunately, the Devil's Booster was quite watered down this time and a bit of a disappointment. On the other hand, the Hawaiian Black Tea was solid and pretty flavorful. My only real critique is that I wish the staff spent a little more time shaking the drinks so the flavors were fully incorporated.

Horchata milk tea for dessert. Really enjoyed it. Would order that drink again. Ambience was clean and pretty inside.

Vietnamese coffee with banana soft top

Tried this place for the first time and I was not disappointed. It's so open and bright inside with plenty of seating. I ordered their Vietnamese coffee with boba and banana soft top. The pearls were perfect and the banana with the coffee mixed so well. I'll be coming back just for that drink.

Great ambiance and the drinks are made fresh...you can tell by the taste! Love the vibe and soft kpop music as well. Definitely recommend when you are in the mood for a tasty and cold treat!! In the occasion we ordered an avocado stormy with boba and soursop tea (no sugar added). Delicious!! Service was very fast as well.

I love this place because it offers "no sugar" options, something very important when you know you have to be conscious about your blood sugar levels. This time I have ordered a soursop tea very delicious. The service was very quick! Clean place, nice, nice environment, and love the background music!

A very confusing Summer promo. Basically, you cannot order the lychee hibiscus drink without ordering the hibiscus drink.
Lindsay L.

I'm giving one star for having lots of options on their menu and one star for having a clean restroom. Today I went to R&B Tea with some friends to hang out since they have a lot of options for drinks. I saw a big sign with their BOGO promo for their summer drinks, and wanted to order the hibiscus lychee drink. Well, guess what? You can't order it! I tried ordering on the kiosk first, and it wasn't even on the menu, so I went to ask the worker. She explained that you have to order the hibiscus drink to get the hibiscus lychee drink. (Did any of my friends want the hibiscus drink? No. Did I feel like wasting an entire drink? No.) Pretty lame promo if you ask me! Anyway, so I ended up getting the peach yakult instead. My husband got a watermelon drink. Two friends got the strawberry yakult. One friend got a potato corn dog. One friend got garlic fries. Everything was pretty disappointing. Potato corn dog was too small. Garlic fries were meh. All the drinks had way too much ice. The ice was also a weird size where it was small enough to fit into your boba straw yet too big and chunky, so we were drinking and spitting out ice the entire time. My husband didn't finish his drink. Overall, lots of choices for snacks and drinks here, but quality is definitely below average. :(

Taro Milk Tea
Lauren L.

My taro milk tea was flavorless and the boba was completely mushy with no chew. Service was quick and interior was cute but I will not be back.

The store would not honor their discount price

Hi Trung, I appreciate your late response back... but your staff did not honor the 20% Off Discount as advertised. BTW, I do enjoy your drinks and have returned and noticed that the "discount sign" has been removed.

Hawaiian Green Tea with literally one piece of fruit. Haha
Dave N.

Ran in to ask them if they had the bottle still for the "buy 3 get a bottle free" promo and the girl said yes we have one left, and mind you we are the only one ordering at the moment. So we ordered 3 drinks and snacks! Came out and the girl said sorry no more bottles because it's only while supplies last. I said you literally told me that you had one left that's why ordered 3 drinks and now you're saying you're sold out? The hell! There was one on display left so since it's the last day of the promo, wouldn't it make sense to give it to me? All she could say was sorry but it's only for display. SMH! Then here comes the worst part. I ordered their Hawaiian Tea (which comes with assortment of fruits at the location on story) and it came out with exactly one piece or watermelon and a damn slice of lemon. The popcorn chicken had super little pieces! Hella stingy here for paying at this price! Will never come back to this place. I never really ever complain but this place well deserves the one star.

The boba was too overly sweet and ruined the rest of my day. They should offer an option to choose the percentage of sweetness in your boba.

Drinks are decent, just need more tea flavor , tad off a little too sweet for some drinks. Jasmine Milk Tea is good at like 70% sweetness.

Located directly at the corner of S. Second St and E. William St, this family owned-and-operated coffeeshop is in the heart of downtown. Parking here during any given day can be quite challenging; especially during the workweek as there are various offices around here as well as being in close proximity to San Jose State University. Business hours are 7am-4pm seven days a week. I came here during the morning of Friday 9/4/2026 at around 10:00am. Fortunately I was able to find a nearby parking spot but as a reminder, meters are everywhere. The exterior of the business showcases their business name complete with several planter boxes, colorful outdoor seating, and umbrellas to shield out the sun. The interior is small and quaint yet there is still ample seating for roughly two dozen customers. It is one of the smaller coffeeshops I have been to and can get quite loud. So if you're focused on studying or conducting a virtual meeting, this may not be the place for you. Since I was saving my appetite for breakfast somewhere else, I ended up ordering a drink. And to those that have been here highly praised their "Pandan Latte". This is Asias answer to a vanilla latte as they use sweetened pandan-infused extract to give it a very unique taste. I chose 2% milk and wanted to go with an iced version as it was a relatively warm summer morning. This place does offer many more unique offerings that include lattes made with banana cream. Piloncillo coffee (widely known as café de olla), and Madagascar flavors. Keep in mind that this place does not accept cash so make sure you have your cards ready to go and of course, they take Apple/Google Pay. I will say that my Pandan Latte was made to absolute perfection as the taste was not too sweet and not too bitter. The service was also above average as this small business had a very festive vibe to it. I also wanted to add that they sell a nice assortment of whole bean coffee, teas, and other various merchandise on their website, https://www.academiccoffee.com/ as well as in their brick-and-mortar stores. Furthermore, they opened a second location on Winchester Blvd/Forest Ave right near Valley Fair Mall in Santa Clara. With excellent service, prime location, and delicious beverages, I am giving "Academic Coffee" in San Jose a perfect five-star rating.

Unfortunately, the customer service, particularly when it comes to pickup orders, consistently leaves much to be desired. Nearly every time I place a pickup order, I'm left standing there without so much as a greeting or acknowledgment from the staff. Even a simple "We'll be with you in a moment" would go a long way. What's especially frustrating is that my drink is often already prepared and sitting there, yet no one calls out names or makes any effort to let customers know their orders are ready. The entire purpose of ordering ahead is to save time, but that convenience is completely lost when you're left waiting unnecessarily for a drink that's already been made. This isn't a one-time occurrence; it's happened consistently enough that it's become incredibly frustrating. I enjoy supporting this business, but the lack of basic customer acknowledgment and an efficient pickup process is disappointing. A little attentiveness and communication would make a significant difference in the overall experience.

Originally I was looking to get pearls, but they didn't have any at the time. I asked the staff how the sweetness is, and he explained it tends to run on the sweeter side and grass jelly would add additional sweetness. I ended up going with 25% sweet. I think I could have gone to 50%, but it's fine. Regardless of the sweetness, the jasmine flavor was a bit off in taste for me in that it didn't have the floral quality that I was expecting. I'd say the grass jelly didn't add too much sweetness. I was also expecting the grass jelly to be the one that sinks to the bottom of the cup, but it was floating at the top, so initially when I was drinking it, I thought they had forgotten to add the grass jelly, but it was there. It was also cubed for ease of drinking. In addition to milk teas and teas, they do have Vietnamese coffee with different types of foam/cream toppings. It's cool they have the standard salt coffee, but also toppings such as ube, pandan, durian, egg. I had a Vietnamese coffee previously here, but I can't recall exactly how it was. They do also have some sweet pastry and some savory snack options. The shop was clean and spacious. It has some seating in here. It was pretty empty when we got here. They do have a happy hour 3-6 pm for two types of drinks (but all I remember is jasmine tea), in which the drinks are $4 each. Considering it seems most of their drinks land in the $6-$8 realm, this is a good deal. Service was very friendly and the staff member who helped me was informative. Overall, Cafes Quan is a solid option for tea and coffee.

Matcha was good, and definitely better than other matchas I've had at other brunch places. BUT if you are comparing it to actual cafes that specialize in matcha, would skip to be honest. It was great to try and it's pretty rare to find a brunch place that does well with everything (drinks, food, and ambiance) unless you're in LA or NY. For food, we ordered the ricotta toast, this peach pastry, & birria breakfast burrito. EVERYTHING was a 10/10. No notes. The eggs used were fresh - there's no weird aftertaste with the ricotta toast. I'm usually wary with eggs after an experience I had in NY but this place made their eggs perfectly. The birria breakfast burrito was the star of the show! Seating was easy! There's indoor and outdoor seating. We both brought our laptops though I read most of the time. Can't wait to come back!
