Oh my goodness! I only have great things to say about this place! The food, atmosphere, and simply everything was way beyond my expectations. They offered a various selection of vegetarian options and had plenty of beers on hand and on draft. They have darts and plenty of coaster decor, as well. Love this place! Excellent food with some really great daily specials, a good draft rotation, and the staff is always great as well! This has become the go-to spot for my friends and I to enjoy some drinks and throw a few darts while catching up with each other. Stopped on a tuesday early. wasnt sure what to think walking up, but once inside i felt at ease and relaxed. 2 fine gents at the bar talked to me and made me feel welcome. riley was the best. i was there on business and didnt drink or eat, yet he gave me great contacts in the area and wished me well. i will be back soon for a bite and pint. read more

I do love this place and its great food. Being English this takes me right back to the food I was raised on. On the slow empty days this is a great place to hang out. Sadly when it's busy everything suffers we came here for my birthday and reserved a table prior which was fine but when the people started piling in we had to leave they were pushing and yelling inches away from the table and it was an awful was to spend a birthday. The staff is great when it's slow and non existence when they are packed. read more

Well - I've been to Quips many times over the past 15 years At the beginning there was a weird English guy that was insulting to me (I'm from England) - I think he owned the place. Then for many years there were two barmen that would take for ever to serve me - even if the bar was empty. I was never rude or loud in that place. Whatever. Most recently (in the last year) - the fish and chips is - as other posters say - a little on the overcooked and greasy side. The last bangers and mash I had weren't really bangers - it was a long Cumberland sausage which was okay but - I have to say - the bangers and mash at the Bull's Head in Ephrata beats Quips hands down. Quips usually has my favorite beer - Stella - but the Bull's Head has cask ale (got a lovely Greene King Abbot Ale a few weeks ago). read more

New Loyal customers. I say this because we can't wait to go back. Stopped in during the ice storm after attending Riverdance. We were greeted at the door and although not having a reservation, we had a cozy table for two. Both servers gave us great service and asked if we had any questions about the menu. We started with the Scotch egg and the crispy brussel sprouts. My wife said, "this is the only way to eat brussel sprouts" and she was right, there was a chili oil dipping sauce but don't let that scare you, it wasn't very spicy. We have had many scotch eggs and this one rates top of the list. For the main course we had the Reuben and the Faggots. The meat in the reuben was very tender and I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of it, it was a very thick sandwich. We upgraded to the whiskey french fries, very yummy. For those who don't know what faggots are and I didn't, it's pork and spices made into meatballs with peas and mashed potatoes. To show what a good server we had, she came to the table with the dessert menu, we didn't have to ask for it. We told her we actually read it first and knew exactly what we wanted and she said " sticky toffee pudding?" and we agreed along with the creme brulee'. We were warmly greeted, quickly seated and waited on by one fun gal. The Osso Buccco was excellent and to die for. Cheers to the chef and crew. As a bonus we got to sit on the patio, mingle with the locals and watch the World Series. Ohhh and the sticky pudding...I believe my husband licked the plate. read more

It might have been ok but I wouldn't know. I was in town on a business trip and eating alone. When I walked into the mostly empty restaurant, they couldn't seat me as they "had reservations in 45 minutes to an hour." I was welcome to sit at the bar. The bar was filled with men and as a female alone, that wasn't what I was looking for. I'm glad their business is so profitable that they can turn away customers with a mostly empty dining room. Haven't been here for years. Visited tonight because of reviews. No need to return anytime soon. Onion soup was burnt had to send it back. Nachos barely had toppings and chips were burnt. Fall salad was so-so. Like hoppy beer, few offered. read more

What an awful experience we had this evening. Two friends and I were looking forward to an evening out together during the holiday season. Our reservations were for 7:00 and when we arrived at 7:00, we were informed our table was not ready and would we mind waiting a few minutes. Of course we did not mind at all and found a place around the bar to talk until it was ready. We were then told that the table they were saving for us was still taken by guests who were lingering so they were putting us at a table for two in the corner by the men's bathroom and adding an extra chair. We did a little rearranging with the extra chair but made it work because we were there to catch up. We ordered our meals and were greeted each time by a server who was short and very rude. Service was slow but the server did check in to let us know our food was coming soon. After finishing our meals, our check came right out, we paid for our meals and literally had just signed the slips that were handed to us by our server when the same person who originally sat us in the small corner because of a lingering table told us that she was sorry but the party they were going to next seat at our table was there and she needed to ask us to leave! When I looked at the time it was 8:16. We had maybe been at the table for an hour and 10 minutes total, had drinks and a meal...and were kicked out of the table. To say the three of us were astounded would be an understatement. I have never experienced service like I did tonight at Quips. Needless to say, we will not only never go back, but we will also tell the rest of our friends what an awful experience we had this evening. Just horrible. With so many other wonderful restaurants in Lancaster, we look forward to spending our money elsewhere. read more

By far the best place for food in the whole county. I have been going here for years and have never been dissapointed. The atmosphere is comfortable with wood floors and the bar/dining area being combined. The staff is super friendly and remembers you especially if you tip, actually its the only place in this area that actually treats you better when you are a good tipper. e/a i never wait for a seat get fast service and never wait for another beer. Not your usual fare either with daily specials created for just that nite by the chef who is really underapreciated by this area and homemade desserts. Very good beer selection with lots of imports frowning on domestic crap beers. which is nice considering the usual swill the locals drink. Affordable with a usual couple spending about $80 bucks including appetiser, beers, dinner ,and dessert. Idrink alot so it could be cheaper .. read more

Visiting here was nice. The atmosphere was that of what you would expect of an actual English pub. Very rustic main bar in the center with a bunch of smaller tables orbiting around it. Food was great. Cottage pie, buffalo wings, garlic parmesan wings, and the fish and chips. All were great. Wings were tasty and the twist with the garlic parmesan was different. Mondays are wing night with 3.25 for a half dozen and 6.00 for a full dozen. Cottage pie was good with a nice tomato base. The star of this meal however was the fish and chips. The fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was awesome. It was crunchy and flavorful without being too greasy or heavy. Definitely recommend this place even with kids. Wait staff was polite and the place has high chair for the little ones. The flight of bourbon was also nice. Definitely a good place and will visit again. read more

The food here is fantastic! Wings are amazing and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert is delicious. Nice selection of beers on tap and bottle. Consistently good over a long period of time. The servers and bartenders are helpful and friendly. Quips will always be a favorite! read more

Beware of fradulent billing. I signed a receipt for $72.00 and they debited $92.00 from my bank acocunt. I went back the next night to talk to a manager but she was too busy. I left a message and my wife followed up a few days later. Seems they just decided to charge me for the bill of a co-worker of my wife. When I finally talked to the manager- Leah, she says they weren't doing anything wrong! I explained to the manager that charging me for something that I didn't sign for wasn't just wrong, it's also illegal. She got all huffy, said they would credit my card and hung up on me. read more
