This is one of the spots I meet friends for beers and I've never had a bad experience or drink. The bartender is very attentive and doesn't skimp on the pours. I've always only ever had beers here but i'd be willing to bet the food i've seen them dish out tastes as great as it looks. Almost every time I've been there on a weekday it was very relaxed but sometimes the place is packed. They have plenty of seating so there's always a table further back where you can get away from the crowd. Plenty of nice outdoor seating too. They even have an upper level they sometimes host things in, I think one time I was there they had an art gallery and they even let us check it out when it wasn't open. Great booze, people, ambiance and most likely also food. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area or near the other locations. read more

Not welcoming at all. If you say thank you to the girl who takes your plate or talk to her she'll ignore you. Also, it is weird to expect customers to tip when the customer has to pick up their food and drinks. Not only are they unfriendly here but lazy too. Unfortunately their food here wasn't worth the money. The mini pizza is bread,cheese, and sauce popped into the air fryer. Something that could've been done at home. Dined here tonight for the first time with a local flavor deal. Place is huge and looked remodeled. Didn't care for the order at bar and seat yourself policy, yet tips are expected. For the size, I would expect waitress service. I ordered a cake cake and hubby the equivalent of an Italian sub. Food was delivered to table without napkins. Had to walk to front of restaurant for tge lone dispenser. Asked for mayo but had to flag someone down for a knife. Food came out quick and immediately I could see my crabcake was burnt. Not only was it burned but was unrecognizable by taste, sight, and smell. I had a few bites before aborting. I literally have no idea what it's made of but it was spicy and left the worst taste in my mouth. I got it without sauce and added mayo myself so wherever the heat was coming from it was coming from the "meat". The pickles had the same hot, metallic taste. Hubby didn't eat his sub because the balsamic it was drowning in was super salt. We threw both meals away. Speaking of throwing your trash away, the lone trash can is located beside the register/ where you order, so you have to basically wait in line. Columbia Kettleworks is an interesting industrial space with a nice variety of beers brewed on site. The spacious bar area faces the brewing tanks and open kitchen area. Service at the bar was very friendly and efficient. Columbia Kettle Works also has a nice food menu, which I did not try (hence a four star review). The bar and dining areas make great use of the building's industrial past--plenty of room here for groups of all sizes. There are about a dozen site-brewed beers on tap with a nice mix of styles ranging from the "usuals" (IPA, lagers) to interesting takes on wheat beers and other styles Great atmosphere and beers--definitely recommend a visit. read more

im on a day trip to Columbia, and this is where I came for lunch. this place was really good. I ordered a pizza, and the service was good, and the pizza was even better. the only downside is the smell of alcohol brewing which I don't like, but I sat outside so it was fine. overall, I do recommend! read more

Second time at CKW. Both times I wished they had waitresses for "at table" service. Nice variety of beer and one cider on tap. We orfdred the pickled veggie and 1 meat and cheese platters. Ordering was a bit difficult because I wasn't given a menu, the bartender just recited the offerings. Meanwhile, the line was building behind me. They had only one register and one bartender when we were there at 3 pm on Saturday. I didnt see any TV's on it music playing while there either. Had a stout, so happy there! We were able to find a clean and quiet corner with a window view for our Sunday dinner. Service was okay as well. We enjoyed being able to order black bean burgers instead of meat, but there is no reason not to have vegetarian options for chips without a $1.50 up charge. The other chips were made with lard. So, we paid extra to avoid that. Not nice. Not sure we'll go back unless we're really hungry on a Sunday afternoon, because at least they are open on a street full of closed signs. read more

Anyhow, me and my party of 4 walked in and Everything was well and when We ordered the waiter said okay and put a number on our table and walked away, all of a sudden this old hag comes over with just my food which came out first and tells me "you need to move your arm I can't fit the plate" he said this in the most disgusting way possible, I said okay and moved my arm, but then he goes "can I take your number off the table now or are you guys getting more food?" I went to Hershey's Chocolate World and the Turkey Hill Experience in the same day and had time to kill after leaving Hershey but before my scheduled time at Turkey Hill so I decided to grab a bite and a drink at Columbia Kettle Works. I ordered a flight as well as a turkey panini and cheeseboard. My friend ordered the crabcake sandwich. I loved the flight, but the food missed the mark for me. My panini was nothing special and, despite only ordering half a panini, I didn't even finish it. The cheese board was mediocre. My friend enjoyed the crabcake sandwich, so that would be the only food item I would recommend. Definitely come for the beer, but you can pass on the food. The parking out front is metered, but if you turn down the street in front of or behind the place, there is plenty of free parking around (as long as you're willing to walk a bit). read more

Decided to stop in at Columbia Kettle Works for a small bite to eat and check out their beers. We enjoyed 4 out of 4 in the flight (though the Lumberjack was a bit on the flat side it did have great flavor for a hoppy beer). We ordered the soft pretzel bites and gumbo. Bot were very good, but let me tell you, the mustard was the best I've ever had. I'm not a real big mustard fan, but this was so good I could have eaten it with a spoon! Next time we come we will get the meat and cheese tray so we can have extra mustard. I hope they start selling it! Another stop at the Kettleworks delivered the same quality. Different batch of mustard, still great! Roast beef panini also very good. And tried their pickles, yum! I love the jalapeño ones, not inedible as I feared. Just a bit of a bite. Good beer- awesome place to hang out with friends. We have been wanting to check this place out for some time, and finally had an opportunity on a Friday afternoon. Parking was easy, on the street or there is a lot out back. Kerri behind the bar was friendly and welcoming. Allowed us time to look things over, gave us some tastes so we could decide which beer to start with. There are several games to play (shuffleboard, darts, and corn hole) so we ordered some lunch and then played games until it arrived. Food isn't fancy, but it is good. This is the kind of place you could go with a small or large group and have a good time. They have outdoor seating as well as a large space upstairs, I'm not sure if they rent it out or just have bands up there, but it's a good space. All in all - so glad to have finally checked it out, and we will be back. read more

Stopped in for lunch. Ordered 2 flights. Enjoyed all 10 of the beers we sampled. LOVED the gumbo. Had a wonderful flavor. One of my biggest complaints at most restaurants is that the food is not hot enough. No problems here. I was still blowing on the last bite, Wonderful experience. The lady who served our meal told us she made the gumbo earlier in the day. We complemented her multiple times. She was so gracious and friendly. Our paninis were also delicious. We chose this restaurant due to its proximity to the Turkey Hill factory and figured it would be a good choice with 4 kids under 5 in tow. Popcorn was amazing. Pretzels nuggets were fine - the kids liked them. 1/2 turkey panini was good - needed more flavor. Ordered with red onions but came with them so I picked them out. A bit skimpy on the turkey (figures it meant 1/2 sandwich, not 1/2 meat serving). Friends ordered the full turkey panini to share and it was stuffed with turkey. A meat sub was also ordered and was liked. Very limited kids menu. We ordered 2 pastas but they only had 1. Only other options were sunbutter sammy or dippers (served with apples, celery and raisins) or a ham and cheese sandwich. Beers were good. And the best was that it didn't matter how loud the kids were. Server was delightful - wish I caught her name. Overall this is a new hangout spot for locals. If you like beer, darts and a relaxed atmosphere, you've found it. I'm happy for Columbia getting a place to be social and enjoy a few pints. I got the pickle bloody mary and it was decent. I wish it was a little spicier. I'm not a beer person, but my buddies enjoyed their beers. It's not too expensive either. This place is a cool concept, similar to other breweries that serve local and self-made alcoholic beverages. The difference was that there is a food truck serving outside that you can bring the food inside. That food truck served awesomely good brisket. There were a bunch of folks there on a sunny day and there were plenty of people waiting to purchase alcoholic beverages from the bar. It's a good sign when that many people are there at 2 p.m. on a Saturday. The place gets a bit crowded and is very loud. Go here to catch up with your friends. read more

I have a good friend who has tried most and knows his local craft brews and when he took me here, I began to see the light...being one who favors more transparent brews. I tried a bunch of styles and you could tell they were well made. While the menu is not extensive, the quality of my sandwich was exceptional and complimented the beers very well. I stopped in after visiting the Tollbooth with a friend, for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised. Its a very industrial, in a nice open warehouse. We'd love to come back in the evening or on the weekend. Im sure the atmosphere becomes quite lively, with the corn hole room, darts and table shuffleboard. They had a great selection of beers, my friend enjoyed the munich on tap. We also had some sandwiches and and appetizer. It was definitely better than we expected (we were really thinking greasy bar food) It was not the case. The staff was also very friendly and attentive. The beer here is amazing. I ordered a flight of 4 and an additional taster and to my surprise 5 out of 5 beers were above average are better. That's very rare in my opinion. Usually out of every flight there are at least two clunkers. Service was good and place was clean. The menu was limited how ever they kept it simple and very local which is always nice to see. There is something to be said about small businesses helping small businesses. I would definitely recommend any of the five beers I tried to all of my friends. If you are in the area and love craft brew you gotta stop here. read more

Neat place! It's a quick hop off 30, so I swung by on my way back to Philly from York (don't worry, I wasn't the one driving). The fact that I wasn't DD meant I got to indulge in a beer flight. Overall, I was really impressed with the quality and selection. Apricot Pale & Dunderhead (Scottish wee heavy) were my favorites that night. The flight trays, shaped like gears, were definitely some of the more creative I've seen. The food was fantastic too. I got an order of sharp cheddar and hot soppresatte, which came with a fresh fruit mix, hard pretzels, and house mustard. Fresh, good quality, locally sourced, huge portions for $7. Can't beat that. If you plan on sitting at a table, it seems you order and pay at the bar. It didn't appear they have full table service, or at least they didn't seem to during this visit. I'm a local to Columbia Kettle Works and was really impressed by their recent expansion. The place looks great. Their paninis are great! However, this place has a lot of room for improvement which is why I can only provide 3 stars. For starters, the selection on their TVs consist of dollar general -like funniest home videos. Not only is it unwatchable but it is unfortunately not the expectation of many that would like to watch a sports game or anything but YouTube videos at a bar. If management made a further effort to televise sports games I believe they would be more successful. The biggest reason I can only provide three starts is because of the bar set up. There is usually one bartender who takes orders and serves on the spot. Accordingly, when lines build up it may take anywhere from 15-30 minutes to get a drink. I have tried to make weekly trivia on Thursday a routine but it is difficult to do when obtaining a drink at the establishment becomes a chore. I wish they had a full bar staff that could serve their consumer base. Especially because their is no wait service and all customers order at the only location in the bar. I hope this changes because this place can be really successful!! As a local I particular want this place to thrive! read more

Not impressed this evening for being a first time visitor! Customer service is severely lacking. Not one acknowledgment upon entry. Being first time customers, I was unaware you needed to order at the bar. Bar tender, looked at us at least twice, but couldn't take the time to say a word about the process. When I asked if I was missing something, her response was, "Well it says you have to order at the bar." When I asked why didn't she say something the whole 5 minutes we were sitting there, her response, "I must have been busy" (to which was a lie, as she stood at the register and sipped her drink numerous times). Not a positive first impression. No desire to return. If they don't care about customer service, then I don't need to be there. I took my business elsewhere. Beer and food is good. However, lighting, decor and atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. I appreciate the age and historical significance of the building, but please put some money into the cosmetics of highlighting the building. Check out the local craft beer, Great little community Micro brewery. Friendly staff and plenty of seating for all your friends they have a half shuffle board and two dartboards, TVs and some nights they even have a local bands. read more
