They welcomed us in, told us to sit at any open table. They stay true to their name with their decor. They were coffin shaped shelves, gothic/satanic themed wallpaper. It's all very well done. Very unique! One of the staff members came over to tell us that their beer and spirits are all from PA. This was music to our ears! We ordered a local IPA. We shared the Brussels Caesar salad. It had crispy brussels sprouts and arugula. Topped homemade crouton. Dusted with Parmesan. It was delicious! Loved this spot! Will go back the next time we're in town! read more

Coffin Bar is one of the more distinctive brunch spots in Lancaster, and it works better in daylight than I expected. The vibe leans goth, with a definite metal/punk edge rather than a tightly curated "theme bar" look. It's not as uniformly designed as the name might suggest, but it is interesting and cohesive enough to feel intentional. During brunch, the space is well-lit, and they keep the heavy metal/thrash/punk soundtrack going at a very low volume, exactly the right choice. It supports the aesthetic without turning brunch into a performance. The food is the reason to come. The menu is built around the seven deadly sins (Lust, Gluttony, Wrath, etc.), and everything we tried was outstanding. Between the two of us we had Lust and Gluttony, and both were excellent, high quality, well-executed, and clearly made with care. Service was solid: efficient, reasonably quick, and professional. Not overly chatty, but attentive enough that you don't feel ignored. Drinks were fine. The mimosa and Bloody Mary were exactly what you'd expect: competent and enjoyable, nothing gimmicky. Logistics are also manageable for a downtown spot. Parking exists in the area, including garages nearby, and it's a comfortable walk if you're already in the city center. Overall: a fun, slightly offbeat atmosphere paired with genuinely great brunch food. Since this was a newer place since the last time we've been to Lancaster and it had such a unique name, we decided to try it out. It wasn't exactly what we were expecting, but it is a Goth themed bar. The concept is unique and we each tried a different cocktail, all of which were satisfactory. They were out of ingredients for one of the cocktails so we had to wait a bit while they ran out to the store to get what was needed to finish the drink. We browsed the food menu but didn't see anything that appealed us that evening although it did have a variety of things and of course it just has usual bar stuff as well like wings and smash burgers. I believe they also have some vegan offerings. We felt like it obviously leaned to patrons slightly younger than we were, but there were some older folks there... I really used to love the food at this place. They use to have a rotating menu of fresh delicious food with lots of options if you're vegan or gluten free. I visited several times this summer and most recently on Halloween. I don't think they've updated their menu in almost a year. The food also was not up to quality like it used to be. The soup is oily, their Mac and cheese taste like it was frozen, and their sandwiches are greasy. So I'm getting disappointed with the place. It screams over priced Sysco garbage compared to when it first opened being good priced farm to table. read more

had a lovely visit at the coffin bar on a chill sunday afternoon! cute atmosphere, good food and drinks, and absolutely amazing service! the bartender was so incredibly kind and accommodating. they made me a wonderful mocktail that absolutely hit the spot on a warm afternoon. i was also so happy to see a variety of good vegan options, the bartender was great about asking about allergies/dietary restrictions, going the extra mile to inform me of possible cross contamination and provided an alternative that would avoid that. ended up getting the vegan mushroom handy, which was very good! all and all a great experience and i would recommend them to anyone visiting lancaster! i will definitely be back to try more of the menu next time i am in town read more

Also had The Slimer to drink and ... while I forget what was in it, it was delicious! They were out of fries and also out of the first drink I wanted to order but I can't fault them for that! I hope that means they've been busy. They did forget our waters and my mom's drink but it was pretty busy when we went and they seemed a little short staffed at that time so not going to complain much about that because the waters and drink came out as soon as we mentioned it (after our meal already came). Absolutely unexpected gold. This is a "bar" which is so much more than a bar. It's what you dream a bar could be. Their drink menu -- fully complete by any cocktail bar standard -- includes some of the finest local draft beers and ciders you could ever hope to see on one menu. The atmosphere is, let's just say, exactly what you wanted. Low-key, colorful lights against a black background, high-end bar and furnishings, and great music. Their very authentic staff loves their work and you can see that they love meeting new customers. I'd stop there, but I'm not going to leave out the food: these people actually know how to cook! The meatballs were only five and were tiny sized. They were mediocre meatballs that you would basically just get from the freezer aisle at Giant. The prices were also overpriced. Aesthetically the location is on brand with the name. It's very grunge yet sleek. I love how everything coordinates and they give you the receipt inside of a little coffin. I also love how they allow you to pay via your phone- extremely convenient! To start I had the pumpkin soup, which was amazing and very filling. The coconut foam and pistachio were perfect finishing touches. I love that they offer two sizes (bowl and cup). I had the cup and it was more than enough. As my main dish I had the chicken katsu with a side salad which was amazing. 10/10, the Asian citrus glaze used on the chicken is delicious. My boyfriend had the coffin burger which was also delicious, the spread used was amazing- very savory. I am torn on the drinks our first round we had the espresso martini and the Rum ham, both delicious the espresso martini was good, the espresso was strong. Rum ham was perfect sweet and savory. Our second round is what I am torn about he had a milk punch ... it tasted like a citrusy yogurt and I had a blue green dream - very sweet. I wasn't a fan of either drink. My only issue is the noise level in the dining area, I would understand if the music was blasting in the bar area and you could still hear it in the dining area, but it was the opposite. First time at the coffin bar and I have got to say it was a great! We would definitely come back here again. The vibe was chill (definitely loud because the great music was bumpin). Clientele definitely was not what I expected for a place called the "coffin bar" but it was a huge range of different people there so don't feel like you'd be out of place if that is a factor at all in you coming to try this place! The food is great, we ordered smash-burgers and salmon along with kimchi fries appetizer and bao buns with pork belly. Recommend all dishes I just mentioned. As for the drinks...that H3ll shot was nastyyy but definitely something worth trying if you're curious and want to do it with friends! We tried to ask what was in it and they told us "we actually can't discuss that with you" LOL just adds to the fun. Waitress was super nice and checked on us when she could. It was almost a full house but not all tables were taken when we came at 6:30pm. I would make it 5/5 stars if the kitchen/service was faster but other than that no issues. Not a bad experience, but did not live up to my expectations. Looking through yelp pictures they used to have coffin shaped receipt tins and menus; both of which have been done away with. There was minimal 'coffin' motif inside; pretty much just a slightly gothic style black bar with a few areas of coffin shaped crown molding. Food was ok. Kimchi fries were fantastic and a lot of options looked very interesting but execution of meals was disappointing. My friend ordered a chicken salad which she said was so not edible. The waitress was nice enough to take it off the receipt without being asked. I ordered the ribeye sandwich which was good, however it came with a side ceaser salad with so much dressing that it soaked the bread next to it and really changed the flavor of the sandwich as well. Would be better off placing the side salad in a bowl to contain. Service was above average. Prompt and attentive waitress despite a very crowded bar. She was more than willing to offer and remove the meal cost of an item that wasn't enjoyed. I highly recommend reservations especially on a busy Friday night. read more

A themed bar like this should be a fun, welcoming experience, but the energy here was anything but. I've been here twice, one time after it just opened and again this Friday. The food and drinks are always great: lots of fun cocktails to choose from and the food was great and came out hot. It can get a bit pricy but it's worth it. I was hoping that after being open after almost a year that would have added more to fill in the "coffin" aesthetic. The walls are still mostly bare except some gothic wallpaper. Hoping they add more. I do like that they have a garage door they open in the summer. The service is good but can be slow when it's busy. Get there early... I guess. Dinner reservations last night (Saturday) at 8pm. Arrived 10min early and very pleased to go right back to our table. From there on it was a disaster. Decided on what we thought was going to be a fun themed meal, only to be informed by the waitress initially that they were sold out of the Duck (special). Not terribly surprising, I get it if it's on special. So my wife changes to something off the standard entree list, as do I. Waitress comes back to tell us "unfortunately we are sold out of both of those too". Tried one more entree and was quickly answered with "no we don't have that either". So we were stuck ordering chicken wings and burgers - we would've gone to a sports bar if that's what we were looking for.. What use is having a fun unique menu if you're not going to stock enough of the STANDARD menu entrees to get through a weekend night. Truly disappointing. Drinks were "meh", and we sat for 15min after the server brought our check before I had to ask if anyone was coming back to take our payment. 2 stars because sure the wings and burger were above average, but man someone needs to figure out stock/inventory.. will say it again, what use is having a fun themed restaurant and menu if you're not going to be able to offer any of the themed entrees during standard dining hours. read more

I was so stoked to come here! I drove 45 minutes out from Reading to Lancaster just to try this place. The vibes are cool, nothing crazy over the top though. My friends and I got there and no one sat us at a table, so we had to ask ourselves to sit down. It took about 20 minutes just to get drinks. The inside of the place was disgusting. Food all over the floor and tables, spray bottles left on tables. There were plenty of employees working (we counted 4-6 bartenders) and the service was just awful. I do hope to come again, but I hope it's better next time. Quicker seating, quicker service and a clean atmosphere would be great. read more
