Been here twice now on the recommendation from family. Stopped once before the Tartan Terrors at the Appell Center and again just cause we enjoyed it so much the first time! I'm not a heavy drinker but I enjoy a social drink now and then. They have an excellent selection of seasonal brews for every taste. (I like more light beers while my husband and father in law prefer the darker ones) Food wise you can't go wrong with their BBQ. I had gotten a fish and chips special in March and I wish they still had it on the menu! Fish was so light and crispy, not greasy like most I've had. This time I had the half chicken which came with a corn bread muffin, baked beans and BBQ sauce. Chicken was so tender and juciy, I had enough for another meal. Husband had the brisket sandwich and just the plan brisket the next time. Said the sandwich was better, not as dry as just the meat. We made the mistake of ordering an appetizer and soup with our BBQ trays and all the food came out within 10 minutes of each course. Waitress apologized that the BBQ platters don't take long to get together so its just something to keep in mind. I remember the first time our appetizer and entrees came out later so it really depends on what you order. Both times we got the large pub pretzel with crab dip. So good! I do recommend reservations as it seems to fill pretty fast. It's a large open restaurant with beautiful decor and outdoor seating that will probably open up with the warmer weather. What a great spot! This place is expansive - feels a bit like a lodge that has an outdoor patio with seating. They have a full blown menu - I got the tuna poke nachos (the wontons were great) and my husband got the Philly cheese steak. I got an 8oz of the Gelato Pineapple and Coconut beer which I enjoyed so much I bought a four pack. It's sweet so not something I'd drink a lot of in one sitting but love that it was different. My wife and I had a late lunch there today. They had the best onion rings we have ever had. Meaty cuts of onions with the most magically crispy outer. Mind blowing. My wife and I split the BBQ platter. We just moved from Texas where brisket is king. The brisket was great. It was tender and juicy. Our server let us know that some customers complain about the fat on the brisket. I need to explain that this is how BBQ is done. That fat is necessary for flavor. If it's too much, just pull it right off. Just letting you know they do it right. The facility is super cool and I can't wait till fall to enjoy the outdoor seating by their firepits. First time here. This place is amazing. Love the inside layout. You can eat on two separate floors. Games for the kids to play with upstairs. Our server (Michael) was fantastic. Dined with relatives yesterday. This is the 2nd time we've eaten there. The pizza was very good, but two things will probably keep us from going there more often. #1-The noise level is horrendous. Although the facility is extremely inviting, apparently no concern was given to the acoustics. We were 4 people sitting at a small table for 4 and couldn't hold a conversation. The noise level caused others to yell in order to communicate, which made matters even worse. #2-The comfort of the seats was absolutely terrible. If you didn't have built-in padding you were in trouble. Although you go to a place like this to eat, not talk. The seating alone would be enough to keep me away from future visits. Hats off to the design and food quality, but the seating comfort would only earn one (1) star. read more

Ample parking and plenty of seating inside, outside and on the floor above. It's a beautiful building and we had no trouble finding it. It did take awhile to get sat since there wasn't anyone at the front but once sat, service was quick. They don't have flights but they do have 8 oz pours. We tried the Sound Machine, the El Tejon and the Big Hill Cider. Loved the cider, it wasn't overly sweet and had good flavor. I did like how refreshing the El Tejon was and my husband really enjoyed the Sound Machine. For a quick bite, we ordered the Brisket Melt. I wish it had a little more sauce on it but overall it was delicious. The fries were really good. I'm a regular here with my friends. This place ROCKS and if you have not been here in awhile since their opening a few years back, I highly recommend you come back and try their food again. They hired new chefs and management, and the menu has been revamped. 1) Onion ring tower - awesome (heavy but expected) 2) Truffle mushroom pizza - best pizza if you're a truffle and mushroom lover. Perfectly done crust, nice truffle flavor, just divine you must get this 3) Thai chili salmon - their salmon is perfectly cooked "medium", tender, some of the best salmon I have ever had with tender rice and bok choy Their ciders and beers are also great! The ambiance is super impressive as well with tall ceilings, live music, ample seating, and firepits outdoors. I've hosted several group events here and they were always able to accommodate us (even with large groups of 12-15 on the day of). This has got to be a staple in York that you come to! Place is picturesque, almost a campus style area. Staff was attentive and very polite, all food was simply superb including appetizers. The menus had an assortment of items including things for people with gluten allergies. Others stated the beer was really good, we also liked the glass wall food visibility into the brewing operations. Overall a very clean and well thought out location. The outdoor portion looked great with massive fire pits. This was a phenomenal spot in which I would totally visit again. 10/10!! read more

Gorgeous building. Very busy on a Friday night! Lots of families with kids too. Got seated right away, even though it was busy - it's a huge space. Got drinks - my husband was delighted with the beer options and loved the single hop All Citra the best, and he is a beer snob (in the best way!). The Sauvignon blanc was ok, but I realize that is not their focus. We had calamari to share - good flavor, but more pillowy than crisp. The platters are the way to go - $20 for a ridiculous amount of terrific food! The pulled pork was smoky, tender and homemade sauces were perfect. Sides of coleslaw, beans and a cornbread muffin were all tasty and a nice sized serving. I had enough left for another whole meal! The brisket was awesome too - got a chunk from my husband. Our server was Allie - she did a great job - there when we needed her, knowledgeable and nice as could be! The food is served quickly, which was nice if you are traveling. Had lunch here recently on a Saturday. I ordered the bbq chicken platter for $20...Consisted of a half chicken, tiny clear plastic cup if baked beans which were delicious but when I say small I mean miniscule, a tiny cold corn muffin (two bites) and Cole slaw which had NO flavor, no sauce at all, dry as dirt, eating raw cabbage, Horrible! $20 for a tiny bit of food, ridiculous! My husband had the trio of meats platter for $30, the sausage had good flavor but extremely tough, the bbq was good, the brisket was full of fat, practically inedible. Beautiful building, nice waitstaff, but the food is subpar. In the past I have had the cheesy grits and shrimp and enjoyed it, I have no intention of blowing over $50 for crappy food there again. read more

went to dinner with friends at 6:45 pm Friday. at a local Mexican restaurant and immediately new it was not for us. only a few people dining and was plenty of parking. went to the bar to get a tequila drink only to find out they sold there liquor license and had homemade cocktails with agave based margaritas! we left and went to South County. place was packed. ( good sign) and it has two floors and plenty of comfortable space! We ordered delicious constructed cocktails and mexican style beer (El Te Jon) delicious, the scratch menu did not disappoint and we the service was excellent even as busy as they were. I had the the smoked meat platter ( In-house made sausage , brisket, ribs) served with cornbread and brisket baked beans along with several sauces including white Alabama , barbecue, and Nashville! OMG mouth is watering typing this........ can't wait to go back and we did save room for scratch made desert. fresh peach cobbler with ice cream drizzled in salty-caramel... can't wait tho go back it's the best place in town. read more

Great spot a bit south of York off the Leader Heights, PA exit off I-83. I'd been wanting to visit for a while and things lined up on a recent Thursday South County is an impressive facility. It is tucked away in a secluded wooded area not far from the interstate. Parking is plentiful and the grounds are beautiful, with indoor and outdoor options. Though South County doesn't offer flights, you can order 8-ounce pours--which is what I chose for a selection of four lighter beers. All were fresh and excellent, and I plan to return to try additional selections. For food I enjoyed a basic pepperoni pizza which was excellent. Lots of other tasty options on the menu as well. I sat at the bar and the service was excellent. The bartenders were clearly busting their butts and hustling. Service was very attentive but NOT intrusive or annoying. Overall: great spot. You may have your own opinions on specific beers my overall experience was impressive. I'll definitely be back to try other beers and menu items. read more

What a fantastic brewery! A secluded oasis- ample parking- with a plethora of beautiful indoor & outdoor seating options we settled into an outdoor spot, cozy around the firepit- they don't offer flights, so we ordered a few 8 ounce pours to run through their massive IPA selections- there wasn't a bad beer in the bunch! I rated everything ranked 4-5* (out of 5-on untapped) they all had such a hoppy crispness with varying unique fruit, dank, or piney blends- (well priced pours) we ended up buying a few 4packs to go (& I love their ability to create your own 4pack at a flat price!) we didn't get food, but I always like to glance at menus for future visit knowledge- they have a decent variety, but nothing jumped out sounding delicious "want to try that" more just 'hungry have to eat'- prices range from reasonable to "hmm that seems high", but a few items passing by looked good-so I'd have to try some to fully judge but the beers really stand out! definitely recommend going for the beer & ambiance read more

Made it back to SCB-York for Wednesday night music. We heard Keri previously, thought this would be a good way to break up the week. The large space definitely accommodates her bold voice! Always impressed with the drive entrance and outside impression of this building. Impressive. I still wish for a large, rectangular bar right smack in the middle of the place... Our server was very nice, and checked on us often. The chili was good! Onion rings too greasy, bbq chix pizza very tasty! The Stellar was my beer choice for the night. Was hoping Day Runner session was still on, it is more my style, less hazy... I enjoyed watching the young floor staff do their thing, tending to the people and the space. I visited South County Brewery for the first time on Friday, October 4th mid-day at about 2:30pm. Because it was mid-day, it really wasn't that busy, so I did not have to deal with any crowds. The building and grounds are just absolutely beautiful with plentiful parking in the lot. The inside is also gorgeous with a lot of wood, great views of the actual brewery and an upstairs area, which I imagine is open during busy times. For my late lunch, I had the Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich. This thing is massive. I felt that they put the largest possible chicken patty/breast on a bun they could find. It was wow! The taste was great, with a little bit of a kick. It came with fries on the side. I had to take half of it home, as it was just so big. Rather than beer, I had the peach blackberry sangria and it was also just my cup of tea. I would definitely come back to South County again! read more

So the facility and the outdoor space is amazing! The wife had thebspiced apple cider and loved it. I was DD, coke for me, grabbed some carryout. The Festifall is real good and similar to Octoberfest. Also tried the light Lager and it was pretty tastey. My wife had the wood fired pizza, and it was fairly large and was delicious. Didn't even get to eat. We were treated like trash from the hostess, so we walked. We came in, and walked to the hostess station. I had a big smile and said "Hello!" (I was in a great mood before hand)Told them we had 5, and she immediately asked us if we could leave by 6:30. It was 5 o'clock. We went 20 mins early to have a drink and appetizer, and wait for our other 2 people and it was about to dump rain in 10 mins. She asked if we made a reservation, and my husband said "no, cuz we looked at reservations for 5 and a bunch of time slots were open." So, had we made a reservation, we could've stayed past 6:30?? I mean, c'mon. That's dumb. We are visiting from out of state, and talk about not feeling welcome. Then she said, "you can sit outside". And my husband said, "it's about to rain." She then said nothing, and my husband said, "well, we can go spend our money somewhere else." Her response was "Oh well!" What a shame, we are HUGE tippers. Someone missed out on what would've been a big check and a big tip. I'd think twice about who you have at the front door greeting guests. We won't be back. This was our second visit to South County and it was even better than our first great visit! SCB reminds me of a destination brewery due to the amazing venue and style of the building. Lots of seating areas and two bars (one on each floor) and great personalities of employees. This visit we sat upstairs at a high top for 6 with only 4 in our party, which was nice not being crowded. Our server was amazing throughout our entire visit! The food menu is not extensive, but offers a variety of high quality food. I'd rather have a less extensive menu with great tasting dishes than the opposite. We started off with the beer pretzel and pork rinds. Both were good. The entrees we tried the pizza (delicious crust and cooked perfectly), the cheese burgers (some of the best I've had recently), and the Cubano (tasty with homemade pickles). All these came with fresh cut delicious fries. The only small "miss" was the sticky toffee pudding dessert (too dry and too small of a scoop of ice cream). Now to the beer...Honestly some of the best craft brews I've had recently. A good variety of styles, all of which were solid. Their stouts were spot on and their IPAs crushable. The overall hit this visit was the Phosphene Dream! I highly recommend adding South County Brewery to your stops if passing near York, PA! read more

On 3/18/2025 we visited South County for drinks and dinner. As always the food was incredible We the Brisket eggrolls, Mac and cheese, pulled pork and the BBQ chicken. Both were amazing and highly recommended. Their pizza and brisket chili is also really good! This is a favorite spot for me and I have visited often without thinking of leaving a review, and for that I apologize. The experience I had last night with my server Kiki was outstanding! She was extreamly helpful. Friendly and genuinely nice. While I have never had bad service at this establishment, and all the interactions I have had with all the staff has been exemplary; last night was particularly above par even for the high standard I have been shown repeatedly at South County. With the day I had yesterday at work this was exactly what I needed. The food is always incredible, the drink selection is vast and the establishment in general is spotlessly clean. Id like to publicly commend our server Kiki as well as all the other staff at South County who keep this establishment impeccable and the experience memorable. It makes me sad to give this rating but I have to. This was our fourth try. I really want to love this place. The ambiance is amazing, the brews are excellent, the service is always good. But the food. I hardly know where to start. This time when you get three different meals and an appetizer and the best thing you can say is it was a good side salad you know it's bad. I'm not sure what was the worst but I think it was what they called sauerkraut that came with the sausage platter that is the winner. As a person of German heritage who annually makes his own this was an insult to Germany and sauerkraut. And the Cole Slaw, well the chef obviously has a thing against cabbage in general. First time visiting South County Brewery after a work meeting. Sadly I'm not from the area so I'm not sure when I will return but we all had a phenomenal time. This spot was recommended to us by our business partners and it didn't disappoint. We got the charcuterie board, pizzas, & chili along with espresso martinis. I have had their beers from local distributor for years and always had high regard for quality. So glad I had the chance to visit while at a tournament. We went with friends last night . The place looks lovely but the sound of all of the people in the room was near unbearable. I could not even hear my friend who 2 feet across the table. I ordered Ribs and I was so looking forward to them. I love ribs. When they came to the table they were very near raw. I could not even tear a bite of meat from the bones. I asked that they give me a 1/2 rack that was done. I was informed that this is the way they do their ribs. They brought me another rib plater and all the other stuff with it, when I only asked for the ribs. That rack was just as tough. The beans were so spicy that they felt hot in my mouth. No one informed me that all of this was going to be so very spicy, that is except the cabbage slaw, which had very little taste at all. All in all, it was not a good experience. read more

And the BBQ - SOOO GOOD, and a bargain at $20! Had the chicken platter. Best baked beans ever! Chicken cooked just right and the sauce was yummy. It is on the sweet side, fyi. The cornbread with the sweet cinnamon butter was okay; serving it warm would have made a world of difference. The rest of the menu begs to be explored. Pleasant staff. The beer was fine. Perhaps if I was an IPA person I'd feel differently. Was hoping for more hearty and malty winter brews but did find the Dark Thread Porter to be very good - smooth with well balanced flavors. I love this place. It's huge first of all, lots of space. We came on New Year's Eve for lunch and it is decorated so beautifully for Christmas. We got the pretzel and crab dip as appetizers. Both were very tasty. Although my son did say "it's not the best beer cheese" my husband got the brisket sandwich which he loved. I got the smoked chicken Gouda pizza. It was ok, couldn't really taste the Gouda, but the smacked chicken on it was so good. The fries were really good too. They have a whole barbecue menu that I wouldn't mind trying next time we are in York. Friendly service as well. I don't really like beer, but my husband enjoyed the beer. read more

The crust is exceptional and Caputo's cheese is a bonus. The other three in my party had barbecue platters. The meats were very good. The cornbread was heavy. Too cakey.
