    Salad Served at McCleary's
    Thomas M.

My wife ordered a Buffalo Chicken Salad on Thursday. The red portions of the spring mix were inedible and one could easily see issues with the green portion. How this was served is beyond me. The person preparing the salad and the server both should have noticed. My wife picked apart the salad and ate what she could. The chicken portion was very small. When the server noticed the pile on the plate, the salad was immediately comped. In that regard, they did the right thing. McCleary's is a nice Irish Pub. It's a nice scene with live bands some nights. We used to go there quite often when we lived closer. I'm not saying we'll never go back, but it'll be a while.

This place is in a league of its own! No matter what you select it's going to be delicious! I used to live around the area and recently came back to visit and the food is STILL amazing after the last time I had it 12yrs ago. Staff was just as helpful and kind as always. Place was still clean and welcoming even though it was very busy. Be sure to come here and check it out!

McCleary's public house is truly a hidden gem. My friends and I went hiking this day and wanted to stop somewhere to eat and have a few drinks. This establishment did not disappoint. The first part of the building itself just feels so homey you can tell it holds so much history. While walking down the hallway you get a glimpse of that history because there are photos along the wall of past days. It's very neat to stop and read about them. Then on the back half of the building they have a stage because they have live music some days, which leads into a beautiful outdoor terrace that just makes you feel like you stepped right into another country. The service was wonderful, and the food was all so yummy. Genuinely looking forward to stopping back in!

Food is always good. Always have leftovers. Service is always good. Usually sit in rear which is super nice. Would highly recommend this place. Fish and Chips are my favorite. I usually get 3 meals out of it.

When you pull up, don't miss the driveway next to the pub as there's a parking lot in the back. It's gravel so if you're on motorcycles, you may prefer to park along the side street. It's next to a railroad with little traffic. You can't see the water, but you may catch a train coming through! So I have to start off with the Maryland Crab Soup... Being from Maryland and having a palate, I have expectations... and they were met and exceeded with the flavors! Made me sweat right under my eyes as it should. I would have liked a bit more cabbage and more crab (you can never get enough, am I right?!). The bowl is a good size for the price and I would definitely get it again. The fish and chips also blew me away. I wasn't expecting half a fish on a plate, but it kept the fish moist and flavorful. The breading isn't heavy and tasted similar to funnel cake. I could only eat half, but will be air frying the remainder when I get home. The fries weren't my favorite as they were breaded, too. I would have loved a fresh cut option to balance out all the breading. Can't speak to the tartar sauce or coleslaw as me and mayo, no bueno... Again, I would highly recommend this dish as well and would order again. Finally, and to some the most important part, the BEER!! Guinness on draft (of course) and a wide array of taste pleasers. If you like fruity beer, they have several really nice ones! The Tripping Animals Ever Haze has a crisp and citrusy flavor and was a very refreshing IPA. This one was ordered a few times at our table. The patio out back is one of the neatest settings I've seen in a restaurant in a long time. Ivy all over the inside with plenty of natural light, almost like a greenhouse! The candlelight setting is very relaxing and inviting. Fantastic experience had by all and we will be back when in the area again! I apologize for the lack of food pictures, it was devoured very quickly. ;)

Brisket Mac and Cheese with Onion Straws and Potato Tots and Maduro Ale

This was our first visit. Makayla was very accommodating. We were celebrating an Anniversary and a Birthday. We were placed in both near the stage. We started with a freshly baked Crabby pretzel. Loaded with Crab meat. The Brisket Mac was full of flavor.Fish and Chips were prepared in a Beer Batter. Very crispy. We had the Cigar City Maduro Brown Ale. It had a silky finish with a roasted chocolate flavor. Delicious! Parking can be a challenge but , well worth it. Oh and the Chocolate / Peanut Butter pie was awesome. We'll be back!-Tim and Judy

The outdoor heated area is beautiful. Great service and great food. Perfect date night spot!

    Indoor patio

This place is soooo delicious! Wings, salads, and crab dip were definitely a favorite. Had the most delicious Hawaiian pizza egg rolls, a daily special - absolutely fantastic!!!! Service was great, and the restaurant has a great vibe. Indoor bar is moody and dark, and indoor patio is bright and green, take your pick! A wonderful surprise, but there is a magician (Alex) blew our minds!!! He wanders around and does card tricks for Sunday dinners, such a unique and fun experience. Will definitely come back!

The food was fantastic and the service was great. We sat in the indoor patio and can't wait to go back and sample more of their menu.

The fish and chips were incredible. The cinnamon bun cake was incredible. The quesadilla was incredible. The pretzel and crab was incredible. The tomato bisque was incredible. The service was incredible. What an amazing place.

It's a cute little space, very cozy. We were greeted immediately and shown to our table. We were informed that due to the town event for the day it would be a limited menu. The menu we were handed didn't look limited at all. I can't wait to see the full menu on my next visit! I had the pumpkin praline French toast bake with caramel and a side of bacon. I'm not typically a pumpkin kinda girl but this was so amazing. The flavors were perfect and not overpowering. My sister-in-law had a crock of French onion soup that she said was the best she's ever had. It sure did smell delicious. She also had a steak tip Caesar salad. Service was great, attentive, friendly. I can't say enough good things about our first impression but I'm happy to support a hometown establishment that has delicious food and great service. It sounds bold, and it is, but it works beautifully. The broth is rich and deeply savory, the cheese pull is perfect, and the crispy rings add a texture you never knew the classic was missing. The pork chop remains the star of the menu--huge, expertly seasoned, and cooked with precision. It's widely considered the best in the city, and honestly might be the best in the state. Juicy, tender, and full of flavor, it's the kind of entrée you end up recommending to friends for weeks. Their octopus is another standout, prepared with surprising delicacy. Tender, not chewy, with a perfect char that adds just the right amount of smokiness. It's balanced, refined, and one of the most memorable small plates you'll find locally.
