Upon arriving I said to my wife, this does not look like a place you would need to make reservations. But as the old saying goes, you cannot judge a book by it's cover. At the front door there is a metal ramp up to the door frame (most likely for handicap access.) However, there is about a 2 inch gap between door frame and ramp...could be dangerous for someone wearing heels. We were instantly greeted upon entering by a smiling waitress. Surprisingly our table was ready, with freshly filled glasses of ice water with lemon. The menu, while not overly large, offers a fairly nice array of options. There is a special of the day board on each table. Fresh rolls, butter and a chocolate raspberry sauced were brought out. Mmmmm delicious. My wife and I opted for the Pasta Special, which was Tortellini Alfredo. We both added shrimp($8 upcharge) to the $15 dish. What a very pleasant surprise when the large dish came to the table...lots of multicolored tortellini and the type of shrimp you would normally see in a shrimp cocktail. ALL large, tasty and succulent. The Tortellini was Al Dente, as it should have been. Our friends ordered a Cobb Salad which was huge, and the Cavatappi Alfredo with shrimp. None us was disappointed. The Waitress made sure our drinks were refilled. Although stuffed we all decided to order dessert, which was one for each couple to be shared. Good selection of options. My wife and I went with cheesecake and our friends shared a lemon raspberry cake. I cheerfully recommend this restaurant. This was my favorite go to place until last night. I usually get the crab dip but the price went up to $21 for an appetizer. ouch! They aren't making their chocolate raspberry butter anymore, waitress said the price of butter is too high. I had a crab cake and was disappointed since there was barely any backfin, it was mostly claw meat. My husband had a steak and said it was average at best. It was the worst meal I have had here! Conewago Inn is the closest restaurant to our home. Every time we go, we are the only people in the dining room. We recently dined there for our anniversary. Despite the restaurant being empty we were seated on the enclosed porch, where it was incredibly cold, and we were behind a corner so our server kept forgetting about us. We never got a refill on our drinks. The food is always good but I feel like the menu descriptions don't really give you an idea of what you are getting. My husband always does a mixed seafood dinner (Pick 3) and it's fantastic- a really good crabcake. This time I ordered a NY Strip but I swear I was given a rib eye. My daughter lives in Manchester and the restaurant was close, so we gave it a try. We were there at lunch time and basically had the restaurant to ourselves. I had a steak salad which was excellent and my husband some sort of fried pork which he enjoyed. I took a star off because our waitress wore her mask basically on her chin. Even though the dinner prices are a bit expensive the food is amazing. If you go during dinner hours and want something a little lighter they provide the lunch menu that features burgers and sandwich options of a lesser price. I had booked a reservation for my wife's birthday. I ordered some sort of shrimp carbonara and she ordered a rib eye steak medium rare. The carbonara lacked flavor and I didn't finish it because frankly, I thought it was just disappointing. The Rib Eye came out purple (raw) and I assume it was in an effort to keep it from drying it but in the process, kept it raw. It was sent back to be fixed and when it returned, it was the same steak microwaved and now had zero pink, tasted like rubber and was no longer good. We requested the steak be taken off the bill which she agreed to, hence the only reason for the two stars. I would not return to this restaurant and wish it had the some quality and standard of service that Conewago Inn did back around 2011-2012. read more

My wife and I wanted to try someplace different. My wife selected the Conewago Inn. It was a great decision. It was an historic Inn that has retained much of its historic charm. The tables were nicely spaced and the guests were distributed evenly throughout the dining room and enclosed porch. The food was delivered in a timely fashion and was excellently prepared. The waitress was very attentive to our drink levels and never let our glasses get emptied. The Inn also has a seperate bar side away from the dining room. Although we did not visit the bar, it must be very popular based on the number of cars/motorcycles in the parking lot on that side of the building for it being 7pm on a Wednesday night. Wonderful treat on our way to Hersheyland! We're so glad we stopped here to enjoy a delicious dinner. We ordered the crab dip appetizer, a ribeye, the prime rib and a shrimp linguini that was the special. The prices are reasonable and even include sides. We got baked potatoes, green beans and salads which all paired well with our dishes. We finished the night with the banana fosters cake which was fabulous in its own right! In addition to being a fan of the food, I also loved the scenery. The restaurant is surrounded by lush greenery and sits next to a creek. There was only one waitress working the night we visited. She attempted to manage the 4 tables, but never offered us more water or wine. She was hacking the entire time, and we felt as though we were immersed in a germ fest. The crab soup was delicious, though only lukewarm. Not wanting her to touch the soup again, we did not send it back. It was over an hour from the time we ordered until our entree arrived. Mine was incorrect, so I had to return it to the kitchen. Meanwhile, i partially ate a pathetic side salad, which included 2 cherry tomatoes, one slice of cucumber, and shredded cheese. Eventually, my steak arrived, very overcooked. I ordered medium rare and there was not an iota of pink coloring to it...brown, very brown. I switched with my friend, whose steak was undercooked. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his pasta seafood selection and the steaks topped with crabcakes were delicious. The bread and sweet butter were top notch! So, 4 stars for the food; 3 stars for the "I should be home in bed" waitress and 3 stars for the ambiance. We kept our coats on while we ate, and we were in the main dining area, not on the porch (which was even chillier!). We might give this restaurant another chance after cold and flu season has passed. Went for "all you can eat wings" on Monday around 6pm. One of three waitresses told us to sit anywhere in the green room. There were 5 tables open and everyone there had food and drinks. We sat and waited, and waited. We watched the waitresses bring more wings and drinks out to people already eating. We were the only table without menus, food,or drinks it felt really awkward, and that "green room" is dark and depressing. We left hungry and thirsty and it's doubtful we will return. read more

Came for Valentines Day when they had a limited menu. Service was prompt and friendly. Atmosphere could have been nicer. I like a pub feel but this was kind of like your great grandmother's house in terms of decor and furniture. Food was very mediocre--barely warm. Potatoes were undercooked, still crunchy. Walking in, you smell cigarette smoke, the dining room is very outdated. The menu prices are high considering the decor & atmosphere. Cream of asparagus & crab soup was too salty to eat, the mussels appetizer was a bowl of tiny, dry muscles, no broth or sauce with 4 pieces of bread around the bowl. This was my first visit with three friends the service was good . I ordered a seafood platter all broiled. The crabcake was excellent lots of lump crabmeat, the shrimp were great, the only thing is the scallops were slightly overcooked and tough. Everyone else's meal was very good except for someone had put the red wine sauce beneath the crab melt on two orders. If you want to have roaches with every meal made by crack heads this is the place to go. We went into the bar about two weeks ago A larger girl was our bartender who was very nice and friendly. She didn't offer us menus so we asked for them. I got a crab cake and my husband ordered wings and we shared crab dip. The crab dip was phenomenal however I look down and a baby cockroach is crawling on the bar. I told the bar maid and she apologized and proceeded to tell me that they are everywhere in here. The cook from.the back walked out to have a cigerette and was falling asleep on the table. My service just got worse and worse as the night went on. Our bartender stopped paying attention to us when she got involved in a conversation with another patron and I saw several people start to get angry. Our family visited for the first time for the today. When the reservations were made, it was not explained that Mothers Day has a specific menu and different hours. We intended on ordering the crab cakes that were highly recommended by neigbors but found out that we could not. While that should have been communicated at the time reservations were made, we stayed and ordered from the special menu. Our food took just shy of an hour to come out, and the waitress told us a few times while waiting that she didn't understand what was taking so long. We didn't care much thinking it would be freshly prepared, but unfortunately, that was not the case. One plate came out with cold sauce over top of dried out, hard noodles. Another plate was cold salmon. Next, we found that they had shorter hours for Mother's Day, and we had 15 minutes to eat, pay, and leave. Maybe the food from their normal menu would be better because it is made to order, but after today's experience, I have no desire to return to try it. read more

I heartedly recommend this place for the atmosphere. Get away from the hustle and bustle and head up North George Street. Keep going past downtown Manchester until you pass a bridge and it will be there on the side of the road with a bright sign. You can't miss it. Great bloody mary. Would recommend this place with only one side note...food is excellent, price isn't. Searched and searched for their menu online and after finally locating it I place a to go order. Ordered a Cobb salad, chicken phoenix, and steak and shrimp wasabi. Like I said, good was excellent. Mine came with the veggy of the day which was Asian green beans, very good! The dinning area is small so I'm glad we went with take out. Info on this place says attire is casual, but when I went to pick up my order I noticed everyone was dressed up. Got some looks when came in there wearing jeans, lol! The only reason I won't give this place 5 stars is due to prices. Have never eatin inside...never will. Not my style....although the food does NOT match the atmosphere. I friend of mine ordered take out from here and let me tell you it was 5 star quality food up in there. I love fine dining and this is up there. The crab dip...amazing. I always order to go because when you pull up you'll wonder if this is the write place and right review. I'm telling you anything seafood is excellent, the steak made perfectly, sides homemade. The food is on point. Perfect if you want dinner for two at home, just order from here and act like you made it. Ha. Great for take-out and people are friendly...scary, but friendly. Had lunch here today for the second time within a month. The place is sprawling. First time was in the bar, which was a little smokey but not too bad. Second time in a different area where there was a fireplace. The atmosphere was nice for a large group for lunch and the fireplace warmed us up on a cold afternoon. Service was perfect. I ordered the soup of the day both times, and I'm sorry to say, they both tasted like the same base was used to prepare them and they couldn't have been more different! The first was a ham, bean and pumpkin and the second time a seafood gumbo, which was not at all what I expected. Both were kind of glumpy like too much thickner was added to the broth. The oyster sandwich I ordered the first time was good and served on a hearty bread. I had the Turkey Pannini today, which was huge and could have been shared with another. Once opened up, the insides revealed a thin layer of lunchmeat turkey breast with cheese, bacon and tomato served on Ciabatta and was okay. On June 16, 2020, my daughter and her boyfriend took me to the Conewago Inn of Manchester for an early Father's Day celebration. It was not crowded and yet it took 30 minutes to place our order and another 45 minutes for the dinners to arrive. Shortly after our waitress, Jodi, delivered our entrees, she shouted at my daughter "Don't cut into that steak!" Too late, despite my daughter having already cut into it, the waitress took it away and served it to another customer at a nearby table. Is this ethical? If so, it is a bad procedure. I would never accept a meal that someone else cut into. The other person had already started to eat the incorrectly delivered steak, so the waitress re-ordered my daughter's steak. Minutes later, the waitress returned with a free drink for my daughter. It seems the waitress did not place my daughter's order in front of other orders. It took 25 minutes for the next steak and by then my daughter's boyfriend and I had finished eating our entrees. When the bill came the waitress pointed out that we were not charged for the second drink and apologized for the mix-up. I explained to the waitress that she had ruined our dining experience and asked if she could do better than the free drink that my daughter never ordered in the first place. I also told her that an appropriate response would be to deduct the cost of my daughter's entree from the bill. The waitress said "I can't do that, she ordered filet mignon, they'll deduct it from my paycheck and I'm not doing that!" I demanded to speak to the manager. The manager agreed that deducting the cost of my daughter's meal was a fair solution. A few minutes later, Jodi came by and said "I'm glad you're satisfied" in a very sarcastic tone. Another one of these places that should advertise more for its own good. I know there are many people between Harrisburg and York who have no idea about this gem, lying along Route 181 about two miles north of Manchester. Outstanding Sunday buffet with two rooms full of food when we went there. Always-changing menu. The requisite omelet chef. Won't break the bank ($19.95). It's worth coming here just to sample the Cream of Crab & Asparagus Soup, made with sherry. Unbelievable. Plenty of great seafood, chicken and steak options. Definitely above average. read more

Brought my wife here for her birthday. We were seated immediately but then sat for close to 10 minutes before we're greeted by our server. The place was somewhat louder than I expected, but the environment was friendly and cheerful. My wife ordered the Steak and Voodoo shrimp I order the seafood platter. The steak was done well, and the voodoo shrimp was very good. The seafood platter did not impress unfortunately. The scallops were broiled, but we're a pale white with virtually no flavor. The fish was slightly overcooked but flavor was good. The lobster still had the blood vein running down the back, which is unacceptable in any seafood dish. The one redeeming item was the crab cake, which was large, fresh and had excellent flavor. Overall, would probably come back, but would avoid the seafood selections. read more
