Friday night dinner with bestie. Last time I was here it was The Left Bank. Restaurant layout is more or less the same. We paid to park right next to the restaurant - approx $8 for 2 hours. We had reservations and would suggest same for anyone having dinner. Wait staff was great. Was knowledgeable about the menu. Could talk about the dishes giving information based on her actually tasting the dishes - which we appreciate. They were attentive but not annoying. Didn't get a pic of our appetizer - deep fried brie- two wedges served with apricot jelly, pistachio dust and dressed leaves. It was so delicious. Crispy outside with melty cheesy goodness inside. Paired with the jelly and leaves it was absolutely delicious. Perfect appetizer. Our drink were great. The amethyst daiquiri was definitely rum forward but the flavors of the butterfly pea flower syrup, lemongrass infused pisco and lemon juice created this wonderfully crisp drink. The lavender dream was equally refreshing. I'm not a huge fan of the taste of lavender but the combination of faber vanilla vodka, lavender simple, lemon juice, and ginger beer created a refreshing well balanced cocktail. Our mains were delicious. My NY strip was a medium rare. It was so delicious. The steak did have gristled ends on one entire side which wasn't appetizing but otherwise was a good cut. The shrimp were wonderful. Just a subtle pinch of red pepper to add heat but it did not overpower the sweetness of the shrimp. The cafe de paris butter was rich and flavorful. Combine with the arugula salad it was divine. The jalapeño mopping bread was a dense cornbread like addition but honestly it was out of place in the flavor profile of the rest of the meal - a rustic, crusty bread would have been better in my opinion. Bestie had the Seared Duck Breast with a black pudding croquette, charred bok choy, and blackberry chambord reduction. Was her first time having duck. She absolutely enjoyed it. The black pudding croquette was delicious and rich. She really enjoyed the dish and the flavor combinations. The strawberry pavlova was huge. The meringue was deliciously delicate and paired beautifully with the strawberries and fresh whipped cream. Bestie also had a caramel affogato. She said it was very deliciously. She actually dipped some of the meringue into it and said it was very tasty. Lol. They do have a bar area with seating . There is an outdoor seating area as well. We opted for inside knowing how busy N. George St. is around rush-hour with the street noise. But it was a lovely night out and there were many couples outside. The lighting in the restaurant was perfect wasn't too dim, but wasn't harsh and bright. Service was timed perfectly. Overall, it was a really nice experience. Price point was what I would expect for the quality. Great place for a date or a special occasion or just to treat yourself. read more

Located in downtown York, this restaurant is a tucked away gem. Inside is much more spacious and has a very nice classy décor. We got the table bread and deep fried brie. Both were delicious, the deep fried brie especially - would highly recommend getting it. Both the brie and bread paired very well with their butter and jam. The main course took a very long time after getting our appetizers. But they came cooked nicely. I ordered a medium rare steak and the inside was very close to medium rare, perhaps a little more on the medium side, but seasoned perfectly. They also have a nice drink menu. Taking a star off because of lack of parking validation (there is a nearby garage that charges $2 per hour) and how long it took for our main course to come out (~1 hour from getting our appetizers for only a party of 4). But overall this is a nice place for a date or business dinner. read more

Exceeded expectations! We were in York to attend a concert at the Strand Theater. The show was very good but our dinner at Bloom was the highlight of the evening. The cocktails are creative and delicious. It is obvious that a lot of effort is spent to combine unusual ingredients into tasty cocktails. The Salmon Wellington is memorable. Stumbled upon this gem by accident but cannot say enough good things! The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and our server had definitely been in the game for a while. I'm not one to do reviews. Most restaurants I've gone to are "mid" (as the kids say )...fine but nothing great. My wife and I usually would opt to stay home and cook and get better results. However, saw an Instagram reel highlighting Bloom. What a great experience top to bottom. Service was great: timely, not rushed, appropriately engaging. Drinks were great: had the Greenhouse Gimlet...well balanced, nice flavors. Wine selection was nice, had a great Sauvignon Blanc (and the description was spot on). Had the Fish and Chips, another great balance of flavors and texture. Ambiance was lovely, perfect anniversary celebration. It was a Wednesday evening, not terribly busy, just for information. I am looking forward to a return visit and will recommend to anyone looking for a nice evening out!! So glad to find a restaurant where I'm happy to pay for the food and service!! read more

Ate here for the first time for Valentine's Day. The duck entree was delicious but at about $40 price tag, nothing I would come back for. Hubby had pork chop that was also good. The bread rolls were delicious and soft with 3 flavored butters/jams. Finally, we got a winter salad to share as an appetizer that was more to my husband's taste but was a good size. Service was good and the ambiance was very romantic and warm. Overall though, nothing would draw me back especially with food at this price tag. read more

Everything was amazing! Every person we encountered was cheerful and helpful. We had drinks and apps that were so delicious (tuna credo and the empanadas). Bloom Kitchen and Bar -- It's in downtown York, PA and in the space of the old Left Bank. The owners and management have done a fabulous job warming the place up -- it's has a really warm and cozy ambiance as they've painted the interior white and added some decorative window sectionals. The warmth is accentuated by the candles that light tables and common areas throughout the restaurant. Jeremy Smith is the General Manager of Bloom and he's a class act -- a charming, smiling and well dressed chap who makes the rounds and chats with the patrons. He gets it done too-- we asked for a special order of Irish coffees and he produced, with Bloom's special made whipped cream topping. Dinner was absolutely delicious. We ordered the oysters to start-- the oysters were from Canada. I cracked to Kayleigh our server, that these oysters could be one of the last orders of Canadian oysters before the 25% tariff kicks in on Canadian imports. Nonetheless, they were a tasty dozen, with the just peppery enough champagne mignonette. We had the octopus app, squash soup, quinoa cakes, steak, gnudi mushroom dish, and the wagyu burger. It was all scrumptious. I had the octopus and the wagyu burger as my dinner. The octopus was excellent -- they're not chintzy with the portions either -- some places you they give a 2cm slice off one of the arms and surround it with more onions, potatoes and gravy than octopus-- not at Bloom though! Good size octopus arms on the plate. The wagyu burger is mouth watering-- next time I'm getting two, not because the burger is small, but because it is that delicious! It's plump, juicy, with crisp lettuce and their own Bloom special jam! You have to try this place! It's a keeper!! read more

Enjoy it while it lasts. This place wants to be high end, but it's in York. While we were there the other patrons were: teenagers who left $5 on a $200 bill, a sex worker and her older gentlemen date who were quite liberal with the PDA, and a couple wearing red hats. I care less about the hats, just the general disrespect of wearing them while eating at a nice restaurant....Welcome to York. While I am sure that all the food is prepared exceptionally well, the originality of the menu felt lacking. As such, we are likely to never return. I struggled to find anything that struck me as "I must try". I landed on the pork chop, it was good, but if I am in the mood for a pork chop I'll go to First Post. Better pork chop at a better price. They had a pasta dish, Tuttoni's is next door. Oysters? Rockfish is next door. Handsome Cab is there too. That about summarizes my take on the entire menu. If you want to thrive offer something different. Competition is stiff at this price range and the pool of consumers is limited. I think what might carry this place could be the cocktails...but Revival Social had great drinks and they closed. read more

We tried a bunch of apps, all of them were yummy and unique. The delmonico steak and the salmon were otherworldly. The char to the salmon was so flavorful and crisp and juicy at the same time. This is the best restaurant in York hands down. I have lived in Philly for the last 5 years and coming from a place of incredible food my only regret is that I didn't find this restaurant sooner. Ambiance is fantastic, bartender and cocktails were versatile and well done. Food was delicious, we ordered as a big group and order all the apps, all were delicious. Don't sleep on the scallop ceviche and the tuna crudo! Entrees were great, steak was great and the lamb was delicious. Don't forget the dessert either! 90 degree heat. Air Conditioning not working. Although we had a reservation made weeks in advance, we were seated in the very back of the restaurant, near the kitchen. It was uncomfortably hot. Our server pestered relentlessly for us to order--although we ordered cocktails and told her three times we needed more time. After ordering, we were gifted free bread because the kitchen was behind. Bread was Very tasty, and a nice touch by management. When our entrees arrived, One entree (fish) was grossly overcooked, and sent back. Replaced by a different entree, by choice. Other dinner entrees looked tasty and well cooked. Management made a sincere effort to rectify the situation, but in summation, the over-priced food, served in uncomfortable conditions, didn't work. This is a new restaurant, so we will be back, to see if we just had an off night mainly in the kitchen. The ambiance of the remodel was tastefully done. The service was pleasant and attentive. The food however was, let's just say unremarkable and some of it really not editable. It just wasn't one thing or another, it was all pretty bad. I would gladly pay more for a better cut of meat and real Frites, not ones that look like McDonalds and so salty you can't eat them. I think the best advice I could give them is to get on a secret shopper program and get some real feed back of all the dishes. If not, I believe this will be a once and done place for most people. read more

Tried Bloom for the first time on Valentine's Day with relaxed expectations, as we knew they were just getting started and Valentine's Day is challenging for even the most seasoned restaurants. However, the restaurant over-delivered, well exceeding our expectations. Quick overview of pros/cons: PROS: *Service was top tier, absolutely no issues, server was one of the best we've had anywhere (attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, the works) *Upscale menu was a refreshing change but not overwhelming, plenty of options for those who prefer the local Texas Roadhouse too *Ambience was impressive, felt both high-end formal and comfortable at the same time, the type of place you could spend hours enjoying - great spot for date night *Portions were fair for the price, Ribeye was 16oz for $48 which is actually on the cheaper side *Food was excellent! We had Cajun Crab dip (only negative was it needed a few more pita chips), Ribeye (cooked perfectly - highly recommend), Steak Frites (also perfectly cooked), and Valentine's Day dessert - everything was exceptional! CONS: *I've been racking my brain all week to come up with something we felt wasn't up to par. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything, I've got nothing for ya.. my apologies to those looking for a good hate rant (the ones who only read the 1-star reviews, you know who you are), I did try to dig up something but this place is excellent! We randomly decided to go here tonight and we were very pleasantly surprised. We did a table salad, quinoa mushroom cakes, oysters, and the buttermilk panna cotta. The service is exceptional here, very tentative and wanting to ensure you've had a great experience. I miss the books from Left Bank, some are there but it's definitely not LB anymore and that's ok. We visited for the first time last Saturday, with friends. Upon arriving, we immediately noticed the beautiful, clean and modern decor. We enjoyed a drink at the lovely bar and were then seated in the dining area to the back of the bar, which we requested (never having been there....we typically enjoy the bar area). Between the four of us, we ordered the crispy Brie, truffle fries, waygu burger, gnudi and beef ragout. Everything was delicious. Received great service. I am returning with a friend on Friday and requested the main dining room. Would appreciate a full-bodied Chardonnay by the glass, on the bar menu. There was only one Chardonnay choice and we did not like it. It is our preferred varietal. The French rose was dry and very good. read more

WOW! Thats right. I must say this is one of the best restaurants I have dined at. My husband and I visited here from New Orleans after hearing how amazing it was by some of the locals. I am tired of seeing posts from so called foodies on social media just so they can have Instagram worthy pictures. This restaurant is not only easy on the eyes, but the service is top notch, and the entire concept is amazing. Starting from the host stand all the way to how well thought out their drink menu is. We tried a variety of dishes but the ones that stood out were Tuna Crudo which was fresh and packed with flavor. The octopus was perfectly cooked, the bone marrow tartar was served with an egg yolk which i did not think i would like but it was perfection. The pork belly was phenomenal, and we also tried some type of polenta cake with goat cheese but i don't remember the name of the dish. I also love that they have an option to buy a round of drinks for the staff that work in the back. They truly deserve it as their food quality is top notch. I honestly hate to write this review. The remodel looks fabulous, the tables were set to a T, the staff was welcoming and reasonably attentive but everything else was pretty mediocre. For the most part the descriptions on the menu sounded wonderful and, with the exception of the scallop ceviche (which was phenomenal), the other dishes we had were shockingly bland. We started with the beet salad, the whipped ricotta appetizer and the table bread. The rolls were hot and delicious but both the beet salad and ricotta were severely lacking in flavor, we had to ask for salt. For the entrées, we had the braised beef pasta dish and another appetizer, the steak tartar. Again, mediocre, nothing special and lacking real flavor plus the braised beef should have been the star of the dish but there was not very much of it. We were all sort of shocked to be honest and so disappointed! I really wanted to love this place. The cocktails were fine but again, nothing to write home about. My friend who recommended Bloom said brunch is fabulous so we will be back. There is real potential here, just a need for a bit more seasoning and complexity. read more
