We passed by the Quentin Haus Restaurant many times during our travels and noticed that there are usually a decent amount of cars in the parking lot. That's usually a good sign so we planned to give it a try for dinner on our next trip. The atmosphere is casual and comfy and the server was friendly and attentive so we were off to a good start and both ordered the grilled chicken with rice. Unfortunately it was one of the worst meals we experienced in any restaurant....ever. It looked good when placed on the table but when we cut through the chicken both of our meals revealed a pink, uncooked center and the rice was dried out and obviously cooked earlier in the day. The server was very apologetic when informed that the chicken was raw and took the meals back to complete the cooking process. It was curious as she was collecting our plates that she said she was upset with the kitchen because it wasn't the first time the same thing had happened. It didn't take long for the meals to return which was appreciated but while the chicken was now properly cooked, it along with the rice was flavorless as neither appeared to be seasoned. As it seemed to be up to us to make the meals edible we asked for some butter and used that along with the salt, pepper and parmesan on the table for the rice and a couple BBQ sauce packets for the chicken and self-seasoned the best we could. We didn't complain as that's not our thing and provided a 20% tip for the server as she did her job well which is the only thing preventing one star. We really wanted Quentin Haus to be a regular stop since we pass by so often but we left very disappointed. As 1st impressions go, is was not good and I doubt that we will visit again. read more

The service was lacking as the food took awhile even just for basic items 3/5. The Quentin Haus became our place to go because it was close to the VA Hospital where my father was in hospice care. I was surprised to see the kind of picky, negative comments on here, because the food was just simple classics that were all delicious. Everything is purposefullly basic here. The dishes are all so reasonable. The sausage and pepper sandwichch was delicious, the marinara sauce the restaurant uses seems to be made with imported San Marzano type tomatoes, which you can identify by the seeds. ,The fish was perfectly cooked, I had fried chicken tonight that was absolutely fresh, well prepared and delicious. The only bad dish was the "spicy shrimp skewer," which was "spiced" with tons and tons of garlic powder and was inedible and sent back. But the waitstaff is super nice, and what a comforting place to come for classic food. Oh, by the way, most of the customers are ancient, with plenty of handicapped parking spots and lots of walkers. First of all, the giant screen TV with Fox News, which is the first thing you see as you walk in, is far from welcoming. Put on some sports or the weather channel. We ate in the other room, so we didn't have to watch it. I treated myself to a chocolate shake, which was great, but the "chicken pot pie" was very disappointing. I expected the PA Dutch version, which is not made with a pie crust, but should be a stew of thick square noodles, chicken, some potatoes and carrots, all in a chickeny-yellow sauce. This was more like a white soup, with dough balls replacing the bott boi noodles. They were greatly outnumbered by hunks of potato, one of which had a dark corner, and exactly *two* small pieces of chicken meat. On the plus side, the lettuce with hot bacon dressing was very good and traditional, and my wife liked her Rachel sandwich. The server was fast and very pleasant. read more

Ok here we go to a sweet little restaurant that my Mom and I go to a few times a month for a very long time. Well we went for a bite today and WE ordered a favorite of our --they were all out and this is beginning to be a regular thing- not making enough for the day. Now they have a new cook and a young trainer. We order something simple --Me - a cheese burger and Mom a ham Bar b q and to share FF. The buns were so dry they were crispy and the FF were so brown and so hard we didnt eat them . I refuse the FF and sent them back . This is actually the first time I every got badly cooked food here. I watched the old over weight cook thru the window and He did a very big NONO He was putting and picking at food while he was cooking --- getting his own saliva on the tips of his fingers and transferring his germs to someones food. Disgusting! !!! ! !! I do think by talking to the head waitress that he has been told about this before and doesnt obey--- I really would love to tell the food inspectors but this restaurant has been around for years and this is the first time I didnt like the food. I hope my complaint today will shake up the owners just a little. I hope they get a better cook because the one they have now seems like a greasy spoon cook !!! !!! We come to this area annually to visit family, and stopping at Quentin Haus is a MUST DO! They have the BEST Ruben sandwiches and comfy PA-Dutch food ever! Our visit today did not disappoint! My Ruben sandwich was the best ever with crispy grilled rye and slow roasted slices of corned beef (clearly roasted in-house). Our server Olivia was phenomenal, and the food reasonably priced! With so many fantastic Pennsylvania-Dutch places to eat in the Lancaster area, my expectations run a little high. Thus Quentin Haus was a disappointment. With an obviously PA Dutch name, I expected the cuisine to be of the hearty homestyle variety and it wasn't. It was just your typical breakfast fare that lacked any modicum of creativity. The portions were smallish as well. The place also completely lacks charm or warmth. I had no particular problem with Quentin Haus, but it was just lackluster. There's nothing wrong with the Quentin Haus restaurant. It's your old-school corner cafe. But there's nothing spectacular either.. Last time I was there it was for breakfast with a friend. I had a "green" omelet - not sure what exactly the menu called it but it had spinach, mushrooms, swiss cheese. It was made fine and the accompanying home fried potatoes were good too. The place was clean and the service was decent. The decor is old'ish but serviceable. Just don't expect too much and you'll probably find the Quentin Haus to be a good stop. read more

New to the area and came here the first time because it was close to the house, now I'm a regular because the staff are so nice and the food is good hearty home cooking. I usually only come for breakfast and pick from one of the specials, but today I was late for breakfast but in time for lunch. Got the chicken fried steak special with mashed potatoes, broccoli salad, and a roll. The main and potatoes were as could be expected, but the broccoli salad was awesome! Despite a review that talked down on this place, every time I've been there. The service is great, lots of young employees, the cooks are quick, they might lack experience, regardless they've always satisfied me. You're greeted in the diner area, depending on your party size, the diner or the back dining hall has great seats. Immediate, friendly service by your waitress or waiter. The menu isn't very big, lots of hometown Lebanon Dutch County cooking and a good selection of seafood and burgers. My latest experience, 3/2/14 with the Sunday crowd was rather pleasing. Within a few minutes sat, the waitress came out and got our drinks and order quickly. It took about ten minutes to get our food on a busy time like Sunday afternoon. In and out within 25 minutes. Personally, I recommend the crap cakes. Also very good restaurant style French fries done perfectly. There's also a lighter side menu. Sit down place with the fast food convenience. A lot of the county was without power last Friday so everyone was looking for a place to eat. That said, we were patient as it took over 20 minutes for a waitress to come and take our order. I have various "restaurant cards" that local sports sell as fundraisers. I have one that listed the Quentin Haus with buy a dessert, get one free. When we went to pay, they would not honor it stating they never seen it before. (It is a mass produced plastic card with other local restaurant deals on the back). The dessert was $2.95...and we waited how long to be waited on??? Terrible way to treat customers and we will not be going back. read more

I've been 2 times for breakfast. I had the eggs Benedict and a western omelette. Food is tasty. Like a home cooked meal. The waitress lady has been the same both times so it's got that quaint small town familiarity and the prices are good. I'd give it more stars if they were a bit more current in that there's no flavored creamer for my coffee and no seltzer water available which are what I prefer to drink. Terrible experience. Go elsewhere. There were only 4 tables in the back. All 4 tables sent their food back because it was cold. They reheated it in the microwave. I asked for extra gravy when I ordered my meal, when she brought it, and when she reheated it. I never did get it. Another table asked for the manager. The manager was very rude. She came out and said "she reheated it, didn't she. When I said about my gravy she snubbed me. The waitress came back and slapped the bill on our table and was very rude and said I am sorry you had a terrible experience. The bill was full price.
