    Austrian wine.

Ambience is just ok but if you're there to n Thursday Jam Night, you'll hear some great music from people who just love to play and sing. We tried the Austrian white wine and it was excellent. Husband had Salmon who said it was cooked just right and flavorful. I had the chicken paprikash. The sauce was delicious but could have used a bit more Hungarian paprika and a bit more salt. Spaetzle were perfect! The chicken was presented as 3 legs. My preference would be thighs but the legs were quite delicious.

Interesting place. Has an Austrian theme to the food. The decor is more country saloon though. The soft pretzel and holstein schnitzel were excellent. The calamari was okay. However the Grandma's ragout was a little bland and the kaiserschmarren was burned. Service was very good. Interesting addition to the area.

I was slightly surprised to find this place in Asbury while scrolling Yelp. Asbury is close to us but it is actually in the part of town near 78. We went for dinner on a Saturday night around 6 so there were other diners but not busy. There was a band setting up to start at 8. Staff was very attentive. We had the soft pretzel, Weiner schnitzel, and pulled pork sandwich. All was very good and served hot and fresh. My husband ordered a cocktail that was mostly ice in the glass and only a few sips of drink so he also ordered a beer. Food was very good, and schnitzel piece was XL. I do wish it was served with a lemon wedge to squeeze on it as that is more traditional to me. Sides seemed traditional but would have preferred spaetzel. Unfortunately they were out of chicken parikash (or it wasn't made for the day yet) which made my decision easier but hope to go back to try it some day.

Pretzel with beer cheese and spicy European mustard

If you are tired of the same ol' same ol' when it comes to dining options in Hunterdon County then PLEASE come and give this place a try! They just opened so, be patient! The exterior facade and open wooden interior give off a western saloon vibe while the HUGE bar inside, with its tin metal roof and back lights give off a cantina vibe. It's in the menu and the food where you'll find a taste of Europe with German, Austrian and Hungarian influences to be more specific. Don't worry, there's the a burger and steak for those of you scared to try something different. Although, for many in the area, I bet this will remind you of the comfort food your grandparents made! We were a party of 4 and every one of us enjoyed our entire experience, from beginning to end. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. He had a deep understanding of the menu and the concept behind this restaurant. Our food came out quickly and every single thing we ate was delicious. For starters we had the chicken lollipops and the soft pretzel. The chicken lollipops were presented so nicely, were huge and very tender. The pretzel and the Bavarian beer cheese dip were delicious! HEADS UP: the dip is just that, a cool dip with cheese and spices and maybe even a little horseradish. It is NOT the hot orange cheese sauce that you're probably used to. The mustard that came with it was very spicy and I loved it. For our entrees we had the Muddy Burger, Grandma's Ragout, the Chicken Schnitzel and The Beef Short Ribs. The burger was tender and tasty with excellent flavors from the spread and the cheese. I would liken Grandma's Ragout to Poutine. Apparently, this is literally the owner's grandma's recipe. It's tender cooked pork with peas over fries with a tasty gravy. So flavorful, so comforting and so fun to eat. The chicken schnitzel was some of the best fried chicken cutlets I've ever had. No, they are not all the same. I wonder what they did for this one but it was ultra crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The cucumber salad that came with it was also awesome. They need to improve the German potato salad that comes with it though. Maybe it's a traditional recipe but, it needs a little something extra to elevate it. The beef short ribs were fall off the bone tender and had an amazing sauce with it. The bread dumplings were a different and delicious accompaniment to it. Every single dessert was a hit but the floating apple strudel is to die for! If you only come here for that, please do!! I cannot wait to come back and try the other European dishes that are on the menu. They have big plans for outdoor patio seating and maybe even outdoor entertainment in the summer! I cannot wait to check it out! FYI - they have Spaten and Mango Cart beers on tap!!!!!!

Once inside, the feeling was a lot better. Not much in the way of art work on the walls, but still had a nice warm feeling. There were 3 of us and we did a lot of sharing. The Scallops in Shredded Filo was good but the Crab & Artichoke, with garlic aioli, parsley and capers was definitely "the winner". The Seafood Ceviche with scallops, halibut and shrimp was also delicious. While 2 of us were still enjoying our appetizers, our entrees were brought to the table and our plates moved to make room for them. I made the comment to no one in particular that I would try to eat faster as the seafood ceviche was pushed off to the side of the table. We had a 7 pm reservation and for the most part the restaurant was full by that time but we were not intentionally eating slowly. I could see if we might be taking up too much time eating and they had to move the tables but that was not the case as the restaurant was only half full by the time we left. For an establishment that is charging the prices that it is, Avg $18 for appetizers, high $30s for entrees, no one wants to feel rushed. The Halibut Almondine with Beurre Blank was good but not as good as we had hoped, with it being on the dry-side. The Dorado with Baby Vegetables was delicious as well as beautifully presented with "potato fish scales". A shared warm Pecan Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream completed our meal. Their menu is extensive making it an easy decision to return but I will mention that we would like a more leisurely experience this time around.

The flavors of the meat blew my mind. Who knew that Croatians make the most delicious burgers. This is a hearty and fantastic dish. Also, the burek was flaky and light and not very mini. Seating is first-come, first-served, and guests are placed based on availability, which keeps things fair and efficient even during busy times. The tables for two are intimate and cozy, perfect for conversation, though they can become a bit tight when ordering several dishes at once. That said, the staff was attentive and checked in often enough to clear plates and make room, which made the experience much more comfortable. The dessert menu is separate, allowing guests to enjoy their meal at an unhurried pace before deciding on something sweet. Their beverage offerings are thoughtfully presented. Herbal tea options include green tea, chamomile, and English tea (Stash), and the tea is served in a container that provides two full servings. The cappuccino is well made and served with a sugar crystal stick, adding a distinct old-world charm that enhances the café's European feel. I regret not asking for an additional order of Turkish coffee so that's a regret . What we ordered: * Greek Salad - $18.50 * Cappuccino - $6.80 * Herbal Tea - $6.00 * Uštipci - $17.25 * Musaka - $22.95 * Šnicla (Cutlet Sandwich) - $20.75 * 2 Diet Cokes - $8.00 The musaka is a baked dish and does take about 25 minutes to prepare, as it's made fresh with baked eggs, seasoned beef, and sliced potatoes layered on top. The wait is well worth it, resulting in a hearty, comforting dish that tastes authentically homemade. The Šnicla (cutlet sandwich) arrived beautifully presented on a wooden board, adding a rustic, elevated touch that matched the restaurant's aesthetic. Mom felt it lacked in seasoning but she Didnt leave any crumbs . The Uštipci were a standout--served with feta and honey, generously portioned, and so plentiful that we happily took some home. We were too full for dessert this time, but it's absolutely on the list for a return visit. Due to winter weather, we couldn't explore the back of the restaurant, but even from the main dining area, the decor is undeniably charming and full of character. Overall, Cafe Bubamara offers authentic flavors, generous portions, attentive service, and a cozy, old-world atmosphere that makes it a place worth revisiting.

You may have to fold your mirrors in to hit cars, I'm not exaggerating. I had envisioned a larger restaurant but this was small with maybe 7 tables. We sat at one with padded wooden benches that was comfortable. We were the only customers when arrived for lunch. The menu is limited and the waitress was as authentic as the food. There were some lunch specials posted but we opted to try three things: mushroom cheese bread, potato pancakes and the blueberry pierogies. The pierogies were definitely handmade and on the larger side as soon as you cut it open, the blueberries rushed out. There was a sweet sugary sauce on the top. That was unexpected. They were served cold and not warm. They were sweet. There were two of us and we each were only able to eat one of the six that came in the order. The mushroom cheese bread was drizzled with ketchup, which was unexpected that cheese was melting and gooey. Our favorite item was definitely the potato pancakes. They were cooked to perfection and the sour cream was the perfect condiment. They do have limited drinks here, including bottled water, cans of Pepsi and diet Pepsi, and some unique bottled drinks like birch water. The biggest drawback for the spot was that I just didn't think it was as clean as I would've liked it to be. It is authentic and as you eat, there is a man in the back that you can see making pierogies by hand. I'm glad that we tried this, but I'm not sure that I would return.
