I also had coffee, which is always delicious. I did order pancakes to go for my son. Plenty of parking. Handi-capped right in front if you need it. There is also a ramp or steps depending on your needs. There is a large dining area, separate from the main area. I have been coming here for many years. Nice breakfast spot. This place has gone down hill. When the new owner took over it was good. Also for the amount that is charged it is not worth it. The omelets are terrible and always burnt. The omelet is cooked on the griddle, it's thin as paper and tastes terrible. The bill was way way too much for what was purchased. They have one or 2 servers that are good. We will not return. First time here. Sam was super friendly and very attentive. The place is cozy, clean and lots of tables. I had breakfast and it was done per my request. Hubby and I stayed in a hotel just behind this eatery. We flew into Reading PA to attend a funeral. When we flew in we were very tired (sleep deprivation) and starving. We just wanted to eat and crash. We were happy to see a restaurant we could walk to. We didn't know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. This diner is reminiscent of a homestyle family restaurant. Our waiter (Stacy) was excellent! She not only made sure our table was well attended but she did this to all of her tables. I asked her for her recommendation between 3 meals. All were good but her favorite was the Chicken Parmesan. She did not steer me wrong ... it was delicious! This meal came with all you can eat soup and salad, pasta and dessert ($13.99). My husband had the chopped steak w/mushroom gravy (under $16.00), baked potato and all you can eat soup and salad. The service was excellent, food pretty darn decent and the decorum holds your attention (signs and pictures). The next day we returned for a quick dinner. Again the server was excellent (Sara) and the meal pretty good (liver & onions and veggie stir fry .. soup and salad bar included). I believe Deluxe Diner is under new management. I am very impressed with their all you can eat salad bar and variety of options to select as your meal. They also offer all day breakfast. The diner offers both booths and tables and the environment is spacious and welcoming. The portion sizes of the entrees are large. You will not be disappointed! The breakfast we had was only exceeded by the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. By the time we're seated, we had been greeted and welcomed by 4 people, including the owner, who stopped by a few times to make sure everything was to our liking. IGNORE the old reviews, this diner is under new ownership since November 2023. Today was my second visit, breakfast this time, and I'm just as happy as I was when I had lunch here. There was a nice crowd, which is nice since the previous owners had really let the place deteriorate and the mostly empty parking lot discouraged me from coming back. Stopped in on a weekday for their lunch specials, appropriately 2 weeks ago. No sandwich with beverage specials. Saw a chicken pot pie special but wasn't in the mood. Decided on their Italian spaghetti ( Not Greek) which came with soup and salad and a luncheon sized portion of spaghetti with 3 nice sized meatballs. I also asked for a bread basket which was 2 thick pieces of Italian bread and some butter packs. My soup and salad was your average diner variety which was acceptable. Digging in my S and MB's, my stomach reacted to the sauce as it might have not been kept at the correct temperature or not fresh? Who knows?? My stomach started to ache and felt like severe weather was happening. I slowed down and started to realize that I was now in a serious situation. The smart solution is to NOT eat here anymore and thus will hopefully never experience this terrible stomach pain. read more

I don't live in the area, let me tell you my perspective as someone who travels and has eaten in many different places. I'm no food critic, but let me tell you.. We (my family and I who are traveling around right now) come in and the front desk older woman wasn't paying attention so we just sat down at a booth. The glasses were so unclean and I was so thirsty but I felt too sick to drink because the glasses were dirty inside and outside. Our waitress was nice which is a plus I guess? This place is like Ryan Howard. It has a few hits, but way more misses. And it's older than dirt. Seriously, there are some aspects of this place that are in dire need of an update. For one, the website. On the front page, there's a special offer of the month - come in with more than four people and receive a 10% discount! But just a heads up, the offer expires July 2013. The first time I was here, which was a few years ago now, I decided on an omelette with cheese. It came out with literally two Kraft singles draped on top that weren't even melted. It kind of scarred me a bit, but I decided to give this place another go. Maybe it was just an inexperienced cook? Well, I'm happy to report that the cook has learned something over the years. While he's still plopping individually wrapped slices of processed cheese directly on top the omelettes, they now come out melted. So that's a plus. Really, this wouldn't be an issue if there was enough cheese for every bite. The idea of mixing the cheese inside the omelet is that it's evenly spread out. Just look at my picture to see what I'm talking about. Service is good, I think? Perhaps too good. The server was quick to pre-bus the table (a good thing), but she hastily took dishes away with food still on them - food I had still planned on eating (a not so good thing). She didn't ask if I was still working on it, just swooped by and it was gone. Ok then. It wasn't all bad. The ketchup was good. The icing on the cake was the lady who rang me up at the register. Initially she was sitting nearby at the counter eating her lunch. As I stood there waiting to pay, she sprung into action. With a big mouthful of food still in her mouth, she was able to ask me how my meal was - barely. Tiny bits of food were propelled from her mouth and glistened in the sunlight as they hurled towards me. +1 star for the home fries. Even devoid of seasoning, the texture was spot on. AVOID AT ALL COST! Not even worth one star! We went at 5pm on a Saturday night. There were less than 5 tables sat. We both had the salad bar with our meal. It was ok, but nothing exciting. My husband had the lobster bisque that looked like it had been in the warming pot all day. I ordered the crabcake, broiled. It was barely warm. The baked potato was still hard. My husband ordered the Turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes. When it was served it had only Turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy on his plate. He reminded the waitress who took it away and returned with a new plate with nearly frozen stuffing and Turkey on one plate and the mashed and gravy on a small plate. She asked how things were and we told her not good and what the issues were and she asked if they should remake our food. No! We are leaving. It's under new management and all I can say is whateva you got going on, keep it going. Your chef is a keeper. The Mediterranean Chicken Salad with extra cucumbers was so yummy. The service was okay but it was obvious they had their regulars. There was not much around the hotel to eat, so our choices beyond breakfast were limited. My water polo team and I (go eagles) were staying at the Best Western Plus, right across the street from Deluxe. We were looking for a place to eat in between games, and this seemed like like a decent place. I showed up and it wasn't very crowded, so finding a seat was easy. The menu was simple to read, and we ordered food (and a Pepsi) without a problem. The food came quickly, but all the food wasn't there. I ordered steak and eggs, and I got eggs and bacon. I let the waitress know and she claimed I never ordered steak. But everyone else at my table witnessed me ordering steak. After more waiting, the steak finally came. The food was good and filled me up, but other factors left me disappointed. The check came and it read $30. For steak and eggs. This is when I knew something was up. I asked the waitress about it, and she proceeded to add the total in front of me. "So this is $3.99 for the home fries." She told me. "But home fries are included with the steak and eggs," I replied. "No they're not, do you want me to show you the menu again?" Of course I did. So she brought the menu over and I showed her the steak and eggs, which came with home fries. As much as I wanted to shout out "TOLD YOU SO!" I managed to stay under control, and thrive off of the satisfaction of her poker face and, "My mistake" reply. Somehow the total got down to $15 dollars, which it should've been in the first place, and I was able to leave a satisfied man. But I still regrettably left a tip. Overall, the food was five stars. Good quality for a fair price. It was the dissatisfactory service that brought it down to three stars. And on top of all that, they forgot the Pepsi I ordered in the beginning. read more

One of our more frequent stops for breakfast out. Great value in their breakfast specials, and my mother loves their Spanish Omelette special when it's available. Their daily special (varies) includes coffee and is usually under $5. Potatoes are usually good, and you have the option to add onions to them, however this is really hit-or-miss. Sometimes they onions are added too late and barely cooked, so I stopped asking for them. Other than that though, the food is consistently good, service is fast and friendly, and their dining area is sizable enough you usually get seated immediately. I don't eat at diners for lunch/dinner often (they always disappoint me), but their Greek Gyro is very good. read more

We went for a quick dinner the other night. We got there around 5:30 and it was busy, but not crazy. We were seated quickly. Our waitress didn't come over to greet us for 10 minutes. Once she did, we gave her drink orders. After 15 minutes we still had no drinks, so the hostess brought us water. My husband had to ask her for his coffee. We ordered basics, kids got pancakes and french toast and my husband got a burger. I got a chicken caesar wrap. None of these things are complicated and yet 40 minutes later we have no food and our waitress did not come to check on us, fill our water, refill his coffee, nothing. So we asked the hostess if this was a normal wait. Instead of answering "No" right away, she sat there and thought about it. Then went to check on our orders. Our food came out 5 minutes later and it wasn't worth the wait. The pancakes were bad. I can't describe them. It's hard to screw up pancakes and these were just plain not good. The french toast was small and sad. My fries were not cooked so I sent them back. My husband's burger looked disgusting. He ate a few bites. We had been here before and didn't have this terrible an experience but after this last visit, we'll never go back. read more

11/8/20 - This restaurant is not following social distancing recommendations during the COVID-19 Pandemic. I was appalled that I was seated next to a group of nearly 20 people who were seated less than 6 feet away from my table. The restaurant pushed several tables together and seated this large party right next to my booth. When I questioned the waiter about this, he stated the COVID guidelines are only recommendations and that they do not have to follow them. Before leaving, I spoke with the owner about my concerns.
