Salad bar and soup station

Hubby and I stayed in a hotel just behind this eatery. We flew into Reading PA to attend a funeral. When we flew in we were very tired (sleep deprivation) and starving. We just wanted to eat and crash. We were happy to see a restaurant we could walk to. We didn't know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. This diner is reminiscent of a homestyle family restaurant. Our waiter (Stacy) was excellent! She not only made sure our table was well attended but she did this to all of her tables. I asked her for her recommendation between 3 meals. All were good but her favorite was the Chicken Parmesan. She did not steer me wrong ... it was delicious! This meal came with all you can eat soup and salad, pasta and dessert ($13.99). My husband had the chopped steak w/mushroom gravy (under $16.00), baked potato and all you can eat soup and salad. The service was excellent, food pretty darn decent and the decorum holds your attention (signs and pictures). The next day we returned for a quick dinner. Again the server was excellent (Sara) and the meal pretty good (liver & onions and veggie stir fry .. soup and salad bar included). Even though our hotel offers complimentary breakfast we will return for breakfast before checking out of our hotel in the morning. Recommendation: Yes!

I believe Deluxe Diner is under new management. I am very impressed with their all you can eat salad bar and variety of options to select as your meal. They also offer all day breakfast. The diner offers both booths and tables and the environment is spacious and welcoming. The portion sizes of the entrees are large. You will not be disappointed! If you have an allergy, you can make modifications to your food as well. I am so happy to have a quality diner right down the road. I would definitely recommend!

were unable to finish the chicken Parm dinner. It was large portion.

The wrong way to add cheese to an omelette.

This place is like Ryan Howard. It has a few hits, but way more misses. And it's older than dirt. Seriously, there are some aspects of this place that are in dire need of an update. For one, the website. On the front page, there's a special offer of the month - come in with more than four people and receive a 10% discount! But just a heads up, the offer expires July 2013. The first time I was here, which was a few years ago now, I decided on an omelette with cheese. It came out with literally two Kraft singles draped on top that weren't even melted. It kind of scarred me a bit, but I decided to give this place another go. Maybe it was just an inexperienced cook? Well, I'm happy to report that the cook has learned something over the years. While he's still plopping individually wrapped slices of processed cheese directly on top the omelettes, they now come out melted. So that's a plus. Really, this wouldn't be an issue if there was enough cheese for every bite. The idea of mixing the cheese inside the omelet is that it's evenly spread out. Just look at my picture to see what I'm talking about. Service is good, I think? Perhaps too good. The server was quick to pre-bus the table (a good thing), but she hastily took dishes away with food still on them - food I had still planned on eating (a not so good thing). She didn't ask if I was still working on it, just swooped by and it was gone. Ok then. It wasn't all bad. The ketchup was good. The icing on the cake was the lady who rang me up at the register. Initially she was sitting nearby at the counter eating her lunch. As I stood there waiting to pay, she sprung into action. With a big mouthful of food still in her mouth, she was able to ask me how my meal was - barely. Tiny bits of food were propelled from her mouth and glistened in the sunlight as they hurled towards me. +1 star for the home fries. Even devoid of seasoning, the texture was spot on. Perfect balance of crispiness and tenderness.

Stopped here after staying at the Best Western and the food was dry and under seasoned. Glad this was cheap because it wasn't great.

Spotted this new place while we were headed to a different restaurant, and decided to try it out…read moreinstead. I am SO glad we did because it was OUTSTANDING. It was moderately busy when we entered, and was getting rather crowded by the time we left an hour later. I ordered one of their specials -- a breakfast burrito with eggs, potatoes, fresh tomato, green peppers, onions, and cheese, then wrapped in bacon and deep fried. The crispy burrito and bacon complemented the fillings nicely, and it was served with a crema sauce on the side. My dining partner got a strawberry cheesecake crepe, which had a generous amount of fresh strawberries and filling, and a pile of whipped cream on top. It too was delicious. The portions for both were perfect -- generous but not excessive. The coffee was good as well, which I can't say about a lot of places anymore. It was very clean and new inside, and the decoration was very nice. Modern and elegant, but with enough natural oak accents, basket-shaded lights, and plants to really brighten the space. The service was also excellent. They were fully staffed with many attentive employees available, and the service was on point. The food came out fast and hot. If I had one complaint, it might be that the A/C was a little strong. It's maybe a little pricey for breakfast compared to diner fare (almost every entrée was $10-15), but the value is 100% there. Excellent food, nice atmosphere, and great service. Definitely a stand-out in the area for breakfast/brunch/lunch, and I will definitely be back.

Best breakfast I've ever had!!…read more When we arrived there was a short wait. They use a text to let you know your table is ready. Restaurant is clean, nice decor. Staff is excellent, friendly and seem to work together seamlessly. This restaurant is a well oiled machine! Food came out in timely manner and hands down the best breakfast ever. I had the classic Benny. And French toast.

It is very tasty. It's very soft. It has a soft roll, the meat is tender and juicy, and the cheese sauce is velvety. It comes with chips which add a nice crunch. Nice lively crowd.

Outstanding experience. (Hope this review makes up for minor squabbles about Gracie's, which I too…read morelove!) Located a bit out of the way in the Flying Hills golf course, but worth the drive. Sports bar- Eagles vibe w/ a decent draft list. The kegs weren't working (seems to happen at every bar we attend these days) but still enjoyed a Mike & Merrill Philly Hazy IPA. Wings a good size, crisp, you know, the way wings used to be before everyone started charging an arm & a leg & serving broken pigeon wings. Classic "Buffalo" sauce & blue cheese dressing were good. FINALLY tried famous Caramel Burger (which I missed several times at the Hamburger festival). It did not disappoint. Good size, flavorful patty, & what these people do best- the bacon jam & caramelized bacon. The sweetness of the onions sings thru. Order it! Husband ordered seasonal special Frikadellen/Bratwurst Smash Burger. Skipping right to it- the cottage fries. (Gracie's/Louie's if you had this all the time we'd have no beef! LOL) INCREDIBLE! Crisp, thin, tender, amazing. If you follow me you know I am over the frozen fries served at every eatery in this country. Finally, amazingly pleasant, genuinely happy, server- Reese. She was on my side throughout this whole foodie journey, even the beer & burger mishap (initially burger served w/o cheese sauce). She's a keeper! We'll be back & will spread the word! Till then, stay on your toes! Thank you Louie's for a great meal.
