    Thursday - Cottage Pie
    Micah K.

From the moment I walked into this place, I knew I had found what I was looking for in an Irish pub. The place was very busy but the staff all seemed to be well prepared for it to be that way. They were direct and friendly which is a perfect combination for me. The food was great! It's rare that I find a great shepherds pie these days but this one knocked it out of the park. Not some crazy spin on it, no weird additions to "enhance" it, just a great dish. The French onion soup on the other hand did have a twist with the Guinness recipe for the broth. And that worked out perfectly. The only thing I'm sad about is noticing the Lamb Pie special after I had already eaten. In a place that makes food this well, FOMO is real. Overall a great vibe, a very clean place with friendly staff, great food, and a wide selection of UK beers. Highly recommended!

A friend recommended this place so when we were traveling through we had to stop. Really nice selection of UK beers as well as domestic and other country's too. I had the Fish and Chips and it was really great. The chips (fries) were brilliant. The fish was HUGE and very good. Wife had the cottage pie and it also was a huge portion. Service was excellent. Ambiance was straight out of your local pub. For dessert we split the recommended Sticky Toffee Pudding and it was amazing. Very satisfying!

This little pub was so authentic and had such a cozy vibe. Small and quaint like you're in the U.K. There absolutely HAS to be a Brit in the kitchen! This was hands down the best fish and chips I've had this side of the pond. I'm a bit of a fish and chips snob and would definitely recommend this place. Also the mushy peas were super good and flavorful. My son had the bangers and mash and it was well prepared as well. We will definitely be back! The service was kind and quick.

We stopped here for dinner while on a siblings trip, and I had the BEST crab cake I've had since being on the coast of California, and I eat them whenever I see them on menus. This one took the cake. the service was friendly and fast- It's a warm, inviting space to enjoy good food and great company!

Still a great bar! Been coming here for over 20 years. Bangers and mash is my go to dish. Always appreciate the warm environment, great food and good choice of beer and drinks overall. I hope to come back here in another 20! A lanky staple!!

I came here two nights in a row it was so good! The first night before my friend's wedding and then the night of her wedding for her after party. I loved the relaxed atmosphere. It's a great neighborhood pub and was right across the street from our hotel. It's pretty large with plenty of bar seating at their two sided bar and table seating. There is also a nice front porch and back patio with heating lamps. I really enjoyed their large selection of beers. The quips beer was good as well. It is their house beer. I can't wait to go back!

Mushroom soup with Parmesan cheese - mushrooms are local, but the cheese makes it a little on the salty side.

No matter how many cool new pubs and bars open up in and around Lancaster, this place remains my favorite. It's everything I want in a neighborhood bar -- cozy atmosphere, plenty of local favorites and long-time PA brews on tap, a friendly staff, and food that will make you forget you're in a pub. If you're stopping by on the weekend or for all-you-can-eat wings on Monday night (which, you DEFINITELY should), I recommend calling ahead to reserve your seat -- it gets crowded and the waits get long! But it'll be worth it when you're digging into a dozen salt and vinegar wings (or the more traditional hot). They're worth the wait! I usually pair it with a green goddess salad, which you can top with your choice of protein if the wings aren't enough for you. On cold days, add a cup of soup -- the French onion is excellent. The bangers and mash and cottage pie are also excellent choices. There's a generous-sized porch out front and additional seating out back for warmer days, but in winter there's nothing better than cozying up to the bar, watching folks give darts a go, and enjoying a pint amid the dark, worn wood and hanging banners from all sorts of sports ball teams.

The food is very good and they have a wonderful menu for both food and drinks. Be aware this is a British pub and not an Irish pub.

Their name esb is good. Outdoor seating is very nice (mid summer). Bartender seemed very nice, just busy. Food is average bar food.

We have been going to The Whip for over 10 years now…read more THE #1 reason we keep going back is the staff. All of the staff make every meal a dining experience. The ambiance is great, especially in the warm weather, outside. The food is ALWAYS delicious, thanks to Dillon. Sarah and Tania are on top of their game behind the bar. Always scanning the bar while waiting for a pint to fill. Sheryl, Sam, Heather B and Lauren not only remember you name, but frequently what you ordered last visit. We tell all of our friends to go there. Frequently taking some with us. I think one word describes The Whip perfectly, FUN!!!

Rating is based on quality of food and location. The service was fabulous!!…read more Cool spot. Only barn. Feels like a pub in the UK. Middle of nowhere, farm country. Recommend reservations on the weekends No phone service at all. Public WiFi available Outdoor seating available Valet parking only Not a full bar- beer and cider only. I was excited for the food but unfortunately it was all pretty flavorless. I know British food is usually pretty bland but as someone who's lived in the UK, I know what to expect. Pretty disappointing. Weck Egg Roll- very crispy but not much flavor. Greasy. The creamy horseradish is good Bangers and mash- potatoes are good; fluffy and creamy. Sausages are good, savory and slightly sweet Shepards pie- weird flavor. The lamb changed the whole flavor. Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream- very good. Not overly sweet. The ice cream is a nice touch. Single stall gender neutral bdthrooms- kinda gross as a girl bc there's pee all over the floor by the toilet
