I was slightly late for an appointment, but the staff lied to me about trying to fit me in, and was apparently going to make me wait all day in order to punish me. DETAILS: I got there a few minutes before my appointment time and the waiting room was completely full, and the screen said they were running about 40 minutes behind. So I left for just 15 minutes but when I came back the waiting room was somehow suddenly nearly empty and the screen was nearly blank. I'm guessing lots of people couldn't wait any longer when they weren't seen on time so they just left. I explained the above to a female staffer and she said she'd try to get to me after the two people waiting were served. Then for 45 minutes she didn't call *anyone* else. The other two staffers served the two patients who were waiting, and then served several others who came in after, but I never got called. I explained the above to a male staffer and he went to the back and asked the first staffer if she knew anything about me, which I could hear. She came out and said her draw-shift ended 30 minutes ago which is why she didn't call anyone else. I asked, "So if you knew you would *never* call me, why didn't you let me know?" She said she let the other employees know I was waiting. Notice the plural, employees. And there are only two of them. I pointed out to her that the male staffer was unaware of my situation when I explained it to him, so she did *not* let the other staffers know. She then said she had told only the other female staffer. I doubt she really did, since she certainly lied to be about informing that male staffer. That female staffer she supposedly told certainly never set my expectations about how long I would wait, and she called lots of other patients while I was waiting. Although this was a 1-star experience, I had other good experiences there, so I'm averaging this to 3 stars. read more

My second time visiting a Quest Diagnostics. The first time, I left because my walk in visit was taking too long. My second visit was an appointment, I arrived at 3:10 pm and left at 5 pm. There are no restrooms in the waiting area and no counter assistant to help with accessing the necessary facilities. There are no blood tests laboratories in downtown Austin. I guess they have a monopoly and they don't have to care about customer service. If you need time from work to visit this location. You better takeoff at least four hours. I don't recommend. Quest is alright; they are predominantly appointment based and I found the website to be a little cumbersome/asks for a lot of info and takes a while to make the appointment. I also still had to wait about 30 minutes despite arriving about 10 mins before my appointment time and I had to be somewhere after so it was close to the wire and I was a little disappointed. That said the person who came to get me and got the samples was pretty nice, and was efficient back in the room area. Once you finish up there, they are good about getting your results back to you as well. Plenty of parking in the shopping center lot as well. Bathrooms are pretty clean (standard looking/sterile since samples are collected here). read more

The phlebotomist I got was proficient and personable, but the overall business didn't seem run optimally. They literally do not have someone at the front desk, period, to help with any questions or answer any phone calls. It's literally up to the automated kiosk, and automated voice messaging system. Therefore, if you have literally any question or issue, there is literally ZERO way to get it resolved. This becomes a problem when they also seem really behind and unorganized. My test results were delayed and missing, and there was zero way to talk to someone about receiving them or figuring out what happened to them. read more

I came as a walk-in first thing on a Saturday and totally expected this place to be packed and busy but today was totally empty. Not only were they able to take care of me almost right away, the phlebotomist who handled my stick was so awesome! I have deep veins that are always difficult to find and she was able to find my veins so easily. Unfortunately my veins just weren't working too well in my arms and they had to stick my hand which went by with no problem. I can understand that if this place was busy with a whole lobby of patients and with them only have a few staff members that it could be frustrating. But today I had a very nice visit. 5/5 stars for that phlebotomist who was able to work with my bad veins! read more

Normally I dread going to get lab results done as you typically sit and wait forever and a day. Quest was actually very pleasant! I scheduled an appointment a few days prior and arrived maybe 15 min before to check in. They have a parking lot and an automated check in system that is self service and makes things really smooth. They then have a monitor showing where you are at on the list. I waited no more than 10 minutes before being taken back. The computer systems were being a little finicky and slow so that did slow my appointment and delay me a bit to my next meeting, but the employees were very professional and helped me to get everything I needed done quickly. Overall was a pleasant experience as opposed to what I'm used to! read more

I had a very positive experience here, for a functional medicine panel. After a flustered morning with a vehicle battery issue, I was able to reschedule for a couple hours later, with caffeine-withdrawal starting to happen as was fasted. I arrived an hour early, because I was in the area, and check-in was smooth, following the directions I'd been given. I expected to wait quite awhile but they called me in within just a few mintues. I highly recommend Mellie, the phlebotomist, who was exceptional. Not only was she empathic, she was super-professional. She applied a warm little compress thing to the area in prep, and it also relaxed my mind! The draw just took a couple of minutes, and I looked the other direction and breathed. (The only downside for the facility's waiting room is the repetitious video advertising wall TV, narrated like gas pump ads - the company could have a silent slideshow instead). read more

I know this isn't really a place where you check the reviews, but after seeing all the negatives down below I thought I'd add my own experience. I had to go here today to get some blood work done and I had not a single issue. Make sure to make an appointment online (super easy to do) and then make sure to check in when you get there (they have a tablet you do it on and it's also super easy to do). They were running a little bit behind, maybe around 10-20 minutes behind (which seems to be the norm for busy medical buildings). I had Maria and someone she was training (didn't get her name sadly) and they were both super nice and made me feel very relaxed and comfortable. They answered all my questions about my insurance and what I was getting done, and they even asked how I was around blood and needles. They never made me feel silly and were engaging the whole time. The process was also super quick and they were very professional, making sure to get my signature and making me check off on all the labels. I honestly had a great experience despite being very nervous and I think this place was super great and the staff is both very helpful as well as very nice. read more

Moving up to central/north Austin means I need to find a new lab for my routine blood work. This quest location was one that was close to my new place and offered early appointments. The earlier the better when you need to fast for your blood work. The lab is easy to locate and plenty of parking. I checked in on the tablet and the chairs were set up for social distancing. Thanks 'rona. I was called back within a few minutes and before my scheduled appointment time. My doctor had faxed over my lab orders and thankful it was there upon arrival. The lab tech had problems getting my info into the computer from the order which took a little time and annoying. The blood stick itself was easy and didn't hurt. I'd give zero stars if I could. You can't call and reach a live person. They do not serve people with appointments first. They just took three people from the standby list that were waiting less than 15 minutes...but another man and I have been here two hours, with appointments, and they didn't take us first. When he mentioned something to the woman, she said "I thought I checked all appointments...I'll try to grab you." Showed up at exactly 6:30am, checked in without an appointment and was called in 10 min later. My technician was nice and efficient. Overall experience was good, no complaints. This place is shocking in its lack of concern for health, customer service and ability to get results. I went to get a COVID test and the first thing I noticed was you have to sit in a waiting room with others and there is no mask, no option to wait outside and NOT EVEN A HAND SANITIZER. The bathrooms have no soap, and you are supposed to figure out the wash station is in the hall...so infected dirty surfaces The final insult was a call where they ask me to give my dog and other personal identification info. Any bank will tell you to never respond to oncoming calls phishing fir this kind of info. The gentleman who helped me was nice but seemed worn thin as did the other staff who looked past capacity. I wouldn't trust a taco truck managed this poorly, much less a place where they are doing medical tests. read more

I came here today for a blood draw after making an appointment over a week ago. I didn't have a single positive interaction or friendly word from anyone I spoke to. Getting answers to simple questions (like "I made an appointment, am I all set?") were met with disdain and a bad attitude. That's not the worst of it. The phlebotomy itself was horrible--probably the worst one I have ever had. Hours later and I have a bruise the size of a golf ball on my arm; and my veins are very large (hence why blood draws are usually a breeze for me). After the incident that happened at the Ben white location, I called this place the day before and asked them if they are open and if their drug screen machine was working. They asked me why I was asking so I told them what happened. They put me on hold twice. Then the woman I finally spoke to asked me details about the first location and apologized for my first experience. She told me if I came in to ask for her Adely and she will get me "in and out." So I showed up at 10.30. I have been waiting for 45 mins and still waiting. Keep in mind it's a urine test so I made sure to drink enough water. This is not "in and out." Then again In and Out the burger place isn't either. So maybe by "in and out" they just mean "in." The woman who told me that was sitting there and doing paperwork. I reminded her of our conversation the previous day and she was still sitting there. Then she proceeded to call someone else in who was also waiting for over 45 minutes. STAFF NOT WEARING MASKS WHILE COVID TESTING!?!?! I've been to Quest Diagnostic many times. In April 2020, I witnessed 3 staff members not wearing masks in the middle of the COVID lockdown. Also, no one greeted clients (of all whom wore masks) in the waiting room, despite walking past us multiple times. In May 2020 my visit upset me for 3 reasons. 1) The phlebotomist took a very long time to complete my paperwork and labels while chiding me, repeatedly telling me that my orders from 3 different doctors were "too much," and "I will only send the orders one place....you'll have to figure it out because I can't separate your orders and lab requests." 2) The office was actively engaged in COVID testing in the patient room next to mine and staff was not wearing a mask AGAIN (we have a mandatory mask policy in effect in the City of Austin, plus this is now a medical COVID testing site...like really!?!?) And finally 3), the clinical area is gross. It's not clean. The bins holding tubes are grimy, lights are out behind the front desk and the DIRTY bathroom is used for drug testing, so there's only toliet paper--no soap, towels...nothing! I loathe to give a specimen. I bring my urine from home (really) just to avoid the bathroom because it's that grimy. TMI, I know...but I'm telling you, the bathroom is grotty. Overally, I was furious at the repeated lack of COVID safety measures (i.e. no masks), lack of hygiene and being treated like a hassle for having multiple lab orders from multiple doctors. My insurance requires I go to Quest, otherwise I wouldn't go near this place. Thank you for reading this far. Sigh, I feel better now. read more

The technician seemed nervous. Made my husband come in to help with a routine blood draw to hold my son down. Kept talking about how he didn't have "good veins." Had us penning him down for way too long. Put the needle in nowhere near the vein. Kept saying I needed to keep his arm straight which I was already doing. Moved the needle around in his arm for a long time before giving up and saying we could try again or come back another day. Obviously we opted to leave. My son was traumatized, and he even woke up screaming for 30 minutes straight the next morning. He has never woken up like this before. This experience was a living nightmare. The woman in the ugly blue gown tells me that I should have come prepared and tells me that she can't give me water and that I have 4 minutes to start peeing in the cup. And then after 30 second of being in the bathroom she loudly knocks on the door asking if I've peed yet. I say 'lady it hasn't even been a minute yet' she then rudely tells me to drink two cups of water and wait in the lobby for half an hour. Upland, CA on Mountain- I I had an 8:15 appointment, but I was second in line to enter. I showed the employee my appointment code, and he scanned it. At 8:15, instead of calling me and the other patron who also had an 8:15 appointment, the staff called a couple of people who walked in after us! The man and I complained, and the employee at the door said that their computer tells them to make the people with appointments wait in favor of walk-ins who didn't have appointments. He then asked, "Can't you wait 2 minutes?" Why should people with appointments wait longer than people without appointments? I ended up waiting 10 minutes! When does any phlebotomist take only two minutes to check you in and draw your blood? So, I waited 10 minutes to be taken in, after they drew blood from people who were behind me in line and who didn't have appointments! Quest has a stupid way of treating patrons with appointments! You have to wait for walk-ins to be taken first, eventhough it is your appointment time. They are ok with people with appointments to wait supposedly 2 minutes so that walk-ins can be taken! The walk-ins should be the ones waiting 2 minutes that turned into 10 minutes! I had an 8:15 appointment and got out at 8:30! Meanwhile, 2 people behind me in line got out by 8:20, because they took them in during my 8:15 appointment time! Does this make any sense to anyone other than Quest? Customer service was poor. They did not give me the price for the labs I ordered when I asked to make sure before we had the test. I tried to pay when we were going to leave and they said they would bill me. When I got the bill it was over twice what I was quoted from a different place I called that said they used them. I didn't realize it was not the same and their customer service would not help even the manager would not help me with the Hugh bill. read more

There was only one person ahead of me (without an appt), so I don't understand why it takes them so long to get through people. It's seriously the slowest lab on the planet.
