Que Chèvre is located right on Main Street in the heart of downtown Mesa. I liked the music they played, but it was super loud and was exaggerated due to the concrete walls. They have a beautiful mural of a Venezuelan woman on the wall, which adds a little flair to the plain concrete space. I thought this place was counter service only before stopping in, and I think it is better suited to counter service, not servers. It took quite a while to receive our food after we ordered, and my Arepa Pabellón didn't come with the avocado I requested upon ordering. Hubby and I were also super disappointed in the serving size. Hubby was still hungry after we were done eating. We didn't feel like we got a good value for the money. It was also strange that French fries would be a $1 up charge. The fries were seasoned well and crispy, but the portion was small. We spent $30 for two entrees plus tip and no drinks which was very steep for a 4" diameter arepa. The meat was flavorful, but it was so wet that it was hard to eat without juice spilling all over the plate and my hands. read more

This is my favorite place to eat in the Valley. The owners are so friendly and you can taste the passion and love in the food. My favorite is the Pabellon plate because it's got all the basics with beef, plantains, rice, and beans. Their empanadas are so fresh and delicious and they're always coming up with new and delicious specials. They have a cute little patio area and tables/bar seating inside. What a great sandwich, the Pepito, to go with all the great Ciders at Cider Corps. They need to this more often. The sandwich is outstanding and enough for 2, and it comes with fries. I've only gotten delivery, so I cannot yet speak to the restaurant, but the food is incredible. My husband and I got two different kinds of arepas and they were absolutely stuffed full of meat and delicious! We got the sampler appetizer which was so much food. The tequeños were surprisingly good because my expectations weren't that high. The white cilantro sauce was incredible, we got a jar and I put it on EVERYTHING until I ran out. Getting a great meal is always a nice treat but it's even better when it's something unique that makes you step outside of the norm. Highlight for me was the black beans. I used to order from them from their food truck and ordering from the restaurant was even better! We drove all the way from north scottsdale because we know that times for businesses right now must not be easy, so we wanted to support them while trying out the physical location. We placed the order online for pickup and the food was ready quickly on a Saturday afternoon. We absolutely loved it! We are Venezuelan and can attest to the food being legit! We had the reina pepiada, pepito, tequeños, and the quesillo and it was very good! When things settle down we would love to eat there in person and check out the shops nearby- the location is great. I have yet to have something I did not like from que chevere. The phone conversation is always very nice and picking up is super easy. I had the opportunity to try their al fresco dining with my friend and it was delightful. The server was very sweet and provided great customer service. Now for the food, I got the Pabellon Criollo and while the meat and plantains were lovely, they came out cold. For the rest of the meal; it wasn't great. The black beans were not good at all and the rice was cold. I think the bread is just too dense for my liking. If you don't like that type of bread it won't matter how good it is to someone else, so I cannot really critique it. When I say cold I don't mean that the meal cooled off because we were eating al fresco - it was cold from the time it was sat in front of me. I was really excited to get some authentic Venezuelan food as i spent a number of years in Venezuela and grew to love the cuisine. Unfortunately, the items I got tonight were simply ok with the exception of the cachapa, that was as good or better than any i have ever had. However the most disappointing aspect of our meal was the fact that we got one tiny sauce for all the food ( shown in photo). I was very specific when we placed our order that we wanted a lot of extra sauce and that we would pay for it. Our family members didn't get any sauce at all with their meals.
