Steamed extra large crabs
Sarah S.

Wonderful! My husband and a few friends went to Quarterdeck last night for some quality seafood and it was amazing! The server mentioned the steam time for crab was 35-40 minutes so I put an order in right away. They were already out of the jumbo crabs (this was as 7:30pm) so I put an order in for 2 dozen extra large. Definitely keep that in mind when booking- it's possible you can pre order crabs so they have the size you want in stock. Also- make a reservation! We also got the crab balls, onion rings and an order of chicken wings (absolutely delicious homemade ranch). On a Wednesday night, every single table was occupied at 7:30pm. Opt for the outdoor seating- it's much quieter and you will have more leg room than the indoor dining area. The patio is also pet friendly. Don't miss this spot!

Half dozen Maryland blue crab when served

Amazing experience at this historical landmark. We sat outside on the deck and ordered the hush puppies to start and a half dozen of the blue crabs and clusters of snow crab legs. Wow!! They don't cook the crabs until you order so they were super fresh. Our server was so knowledgeable and advised on the quickest way to deshell the blue crab. It was soooo good. The drinks were tasty and we cracked crab and ate well. Highly recommend reservations amd get an outside table.

Quarterdeck is an amazing spot for fresh crab and seafood. During blue crab season it is ready hard to get a reservation so make sure to make one well in advanced! The idea of hitting crabs with a hammer to get to the delicious meat sounds like fun in practice. And it is actually very fun. I recommend getting at least a large crab to make the smashing and cracking worth it. If you're not into hitting crabs, the crab cakes are a delicious and filling alternative with plenty of crab alright pre crushed for you. It's a super fun laid back place with good food and reasonable prices. Not really much more to ask for here. Just make sure not to wear white!

Lemon pepper wings, a glimpse of the steamed shrimp and fries.

Came here for th 2nd time when visiting the DC area to enjoy some steamed crabs. We boil them where I'm from but I enjoy the steamed ones when I am on the East Coast. It's not us vs them, we are in crab heaven together, just at different ends of the golden table. Okay, so we got the wings, fries, steamed shrimp, and a dozen medium crabs. The cost wasn't bad for what we got and came out to about $70 pp. (There were three of us.) Those fries were delicious. Idk what they did to them but there's something about a hot, crispy fry that makes life alright. We ended up with three baskets. ;) The waitress was handling too many tables though so, she wasn't as attentive as I would have liked. Plus, they also didn't have Sweenlt N low for the unsweetened tea. What is up with that?? The stash in my purse got low on this trip!! I'll be back though.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I found it on my way to the airport because they had blue crabs. The seasoning was on point. The bartender was cool (forgot his name). Beer on tap was good. It wasn't too pricey. It looks like an old crab house so that was fine. Seating was available indoor and outdoor with a covered patio. Not much decor but who needs that when you have good crabs? I'd definitely return when in in the area.

We stopped by Quarterdeck on a Saturday around 1:30 p.m., and the place was packed. We had reservations for indoor seating and were seated right on time. The restaurant has a huge patio, and they were even adding extra tables outside the enclosed patio to accommodate the weekend crowd. Inside, there's a bar with a few two-top tables, while the main dining room is a bit smaller and can feel cramped when it's busy. Downstairs you'll find additional seating, the restrooms, and even a few pinball machines. The drink menu is impressive, with a wide selection of cocktails, plenty of draft and bottled beers, plus pitchers and beer buckets if you're with a group. If you're coming for the blue crabs, plan ahead--they take about 45 minutes to cook. We ordered a dozen oysters while we waited for our dozen XL crabs, and it was the perfect appetizer. I loved that you can mix and match oysters by the half dozen to try different varieties with varying sizes and salinity. They were incredibly fresh and flavorful, needing nothing more than a squeeze of lemon or a little cocktail sauce. Between the dozen oysters and the dozen XL crabs, it was more than enough food for two people. Service was fantastic despite how busy they were. Yesica checked on us throughout the meal and even stopped by because she thought our oysters hadn't arrived--we had already devoured them! The rest of the staff was equally impressive, constantly clearing and resetting tables to keep everything moving smoothly. Just be aware that Quarterdeck automatically adds a 20% gratuity to the bill. Overall, this was an outstanding experience. Great seafood, excellent service, and a fun atmosphere. We'll definitely be back to work our way through more of the menu--and, of course, order more crabs.

Located in Arlington, VA, Quarterdeck is a local seafood restaurant that serves American and Seafood fare year round. Seasonally, they serve Maryland blue crabs, and staff are able to show you how to crack them if you need help learning. Hours are 11:30am - 11:30 pm daily. Some of our favorites included: *bloody Mary *margarita *beer *crabcakes *hush puppies *Mac & cheese *oysters *jerk catfish *fish filet sandwich

Great shrimp, excellent onion rings.

Fun, friendly place that has been in Arlington forever. Always great crabs and crab cakes with Maryland crab and absolutely no filler. Shrimp are great too--probably farmed, forgot to ask. Excellent onion rings and I'm picky about those. Very hard to give good onion rings anymore. Has outdoor space too. Will cover it with sides during in climate weather. Must go at least once. It's kind of an institution.

Crab dip, lots of blue crabs

Fresh blue crabs & quality food. Hubby & I arrived before the dinner rush on a Sunday 3:30pm. We love the pretty tall slender Asian Lady, always greets us w/a smile, professional & attentive during our meals. Today, we ordered the Large crabs, crab dip w/naan bread, 2 bowls of clam chowder & hush puppies. I would have given 5 but the crabs looked medium & not the large we paid for. Total came to $156.00.

I've been coming to Quarterdeck for years! Not much has changed. Grew up picking blue crabs as a kid and always have to visit when I'm in town. Full, heavy, salty.

If I had better service I'd given my review 5 stars but Trish was horrible she never checked on us every time we needed something I had to flag someone down to ask for help She didn't provide the little things napkins butter for crabs etc We had to ask for everything except water My first drink took literally 30 min and she did take it off the bill but her service was very poor However the crabs were amazing amazing amazing

Amazing!!! This place is the OG of seafood! I ordered blue crab which is local and they were delicious. Meat was sweet and tender. They cook live crab to order. My friends ordered snow crab legs and they loved it too. We also had crab cakes, local oysters and hush puppies - all amazingly delicious. Our waiter was helpful, taught me how to open and get to the crab meat quickly. Love the environment with picnic tables outdoor plus a bar indoor. It's a must visit when you are in DC or Virginia.

We stopped for dinner at Quarterdeck and were pleasantly surprised. The service was outstanding--Cat was incredibly knowledgeable and so patient with us while we decided what to order since it was our first visit. The hush puppies were the biggest surprise--they were absolutely delicious. The macaroni and cheese was fantastic, the corn on the cob was amazing, and the fries were very good. I didn't try the crab cake myself, but everyone else at our table said it was excellent. I also ordered the steak. While it was a little overcooked for my liking, it was still enjoyable. Overall, I would highly recommend Quarterdeck to anyone visiting the Washington, DC area. The friendly service and great food definitely made it a place I'd come back to.

I tried Del Mar for the first time last week. It's located right on the wharf, kind of right in…read morethe center too. I went late afternoon and opted for their tapas menu. They have two different menus depending on if you sit at the bar or regular dining. My group went with the regular dining and ordered their Spanish tortilla, fig salad, croquettes, and cheeseboard. The Spanish tortilla was a group favorite. It was fried but soft on the inside and topped with warm cheese...so good. The fig salad was solid, but the sprouts or other greens really took over and created an intense bitter taste when you didn't pair a bite with a fig. The croquettes and cheeseboard were fun additions as well, but the tortilla reigns supreme.

They seated us on a gorgeous terrace with sweeping waterfront views, but that's pretty much where the good vibes ended. Immediately, the seating process was a total mess--the staff seemed super confused about how to set up our tables, and they automatically brought out bottled water without us even asking. We decided to go with their $36 brunch deal alongside a few extra sharing plates for the middle of the table. Honestly, the food was fantastic. The crab cakes were packed with flavor, the eggs were cooked to absolute perfection, and having dessert included in that $36 brunch special is an incredible value for this area. Unfortunately, the service completely killed the experience. Despite having a huge team on the floor, the staff was slow, disorganized, and constantly mixed up our courses. To make matters worse, all the confusion led to mistakes on our final check. It's such a shame because the kitchen is doing amazing work and the presentation is spot-on, but the front-of-house team really needs to get it together.
