This is one of the best companies I've dealt with in a very long time. We called to set up an inspection of our 25+ year old heater. When Albert arrived he said he noticed rust around the outside of the unit. He then inserted a scope with a small TV monitor into the unit and noticed several cracks inside. He said this could lead to carbon monoxide escaping, or cause a fire. He said it was dangerous to use. The next morning I called their office and asked if it would be possible to have a new heater installed that day. Much to my amazement they were able to accomodate me. Albert then returned and installed the new heater. It works perfectly and he showed me the cracks in the housing of the old heater. It is abundantly clear that if we had not called for the inspection in probably a short time we would be dealing with a catastrophy. My wife and I will always be gratefull to Albert and Qualtech for what they did for us. read more

Qualtech Heating and Cooling replaced the air conditioner in my daycare center. They were professional and their price was lower than the other two companies I got bids from. Months later I recommended them to a friend who also used them and was very happy with their service and price. Best of all, last week, when I had a problem with an air conditioning unit in another location, they showed up the next day and did not try to sell me a new unit, they were honest about the life left in my old unit and how long their repair would probably last. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a repair or a new unit. read more

I called and commissioned this company to fix my commercial freezer on Sept. 2, 2014 and was charged $260 by Rafael Santos for a less than an hour work to which after they left, the freezer broke down again. Several phone calls and two days later without the same tech coming back to check it out, I went and verify their license number 905205 on their receipt and found out that they are only licensed under Class C20 which is for Warm Air Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning. They are listed under Refrigeration Repair with the Contra Costa County Central yellow page as that is where I found them when I placed my request for repair. This is a total misrepresentation and I am not sure how many people out there have they victimized. read more

I really wish I could give more than 5 stars. I had a simple fix that was needed to my Nest Thermostat in order for it to run correctly. I called on a Tuesday and they came out on a Thursday. Two gentlemen showed up and they brought booties to wear into my house, which is always a great service when a company does that. They were so nice and went above and beyond! I wasn't familiar with Qualtech prior to my repair. I chose them because, they were on the recommended list from Nest. I had seen their trucks several times in my neighborhood so I chose them over anyone else. Great experience and I would use them again and will recommend them! read more

We received several estimates to replace the HVAC +/- ductwork for our home. We went with Qualtech because they seemed genuinely interested in providing a quality product and installation for our home. They were not the highest or lowest quote. We ultimately had Qualtech install the HVAC and a separate company install new ductwork. That's how we found out about the many issues with our installation. 1) Condensation line did not have a secondary safety switch and was not secured either with teflon tape or pipe dope, 2) two attempts were made to install furnace flue pipe through the roof of our garage. Both attempts were too close to the second story of our house. Second bad attempt was left. 3) Filter dryer for the old condenser (R-22) was left in place and the new filter dryer (R-410A) was installed between the condenser and the old dryer, 4) a new filter box was part of the quote but was not installed, and 5) the work area was left messy and in particular, machine screws were left in the garage where they could have easily ended up in our tires. As for the quoting process...we've also learned that their quotes are unclear and, in my opinion, incomplete. 1) It was our understanding that the concrete pad that our previous condenser sat on would be removed and replaced. It was never explained to us that we would be responsible for haul away of concrete and that we would be physically responsible for breaking up and removing concrete if the pad was greater than a certain thickness. We ended up renting our own jackhammer because the provided options were as follows: a) stop installation and hire someone to break up the pad or b) relocate the outside unit and increase installation costs and leave the previous pad in place. 2) Our house does not have an automatic seismic gas shutoff valve at the gas meter, which is required to pass inspection. A new valve was not added to the estimate. We only discovered that we needed one on inspection. I would have appreciated having that added to the estimate (and actually installed) so that it would not be an added charge later (and their price was 2.5x higher than another contractor in the area). Although we did end up with a quality HVAC system, we would not recommend this company to anyone else. It's utterly disappointing that we needed a second company to achieve good installation. read more

Called these guys back in June to come diagnose an intermittent squealing noise coming from my AC unit outside. A friend of mine who does HVAC came out and put a little refrigerant in the system about two weeks prior... The technician named P*** comes out and gives us an estimate for $1200 for cleaning out and refilling the system and putting in a new expansion valve. He said he had no idea why it was making that noise but we could "start" there. We said thanks, but no thanks. $75 service call. Called my friend who put in the refrigerant in. He hooked up his gauge and said he probably overfilled it. After bleeding out some of the refrigerant the noise has never returned. BE CAREFUL PEOPLE these guys are commission techs and are out to get your money! read more

I had my heating ducts cleaned due to winter being around the corner and my severe allergies to dust. The 2 gentlemen that did the job were very efficient, polite and professional. No mess at all and best of all, they showed up right on time. They even sanitized the ducts afterward, and checked my furnace for any problems. Great service! Had to get emergency service during heat wave and these guys were able to come out the same day. Most others were booked solid and that should have told me something. The technician arrived and quickly identified the issue to a dual starter capacitor ($20.00 -part) and took 15 minutes to fix the issue. He charged a FLAT fee of $396.00 The very next day my other A/C unit failed and I called around and got COMFY from San Leandro to come out! WOW, what a difference. they did the same EXACT job on the other unit and took the same amount of time and the cost was HALF as much! i did not appreciate the FLAT fee of $396.00 from Qualtech. Overpriced and taking advantage of a heat wave is not very COOL! read more

I was disappointed with this co. I was told that project would be with a loan co. with a 0% loan with 84 months to pay it off. false it turned out to be at 12% with 60 months to pay it off. it was about 90% in my house and instead of trying to get the job done to cool down the house for me and my pets these guys were trying to stretch out the hours and took about a 2 hour break in their truck, I went outside to find the 2 guys and they were sound asleep ask them what was going on they said a break and I said 2 hours went back in my 90% house for another 20 minutes to find them back asleep when I had to literary tell come on and please get back to work. I think project managers should always check in on their crews and avoid this kind nonsense. use them but make sure about the rates and have whoever is project manager stays on top of the project. read more

During the coldest week of 2017, my 15-year-old furnace died. I called around. One company just kept telling me I had to replace my entire unit. Daniel came out and checked out the problem and he decided to replace the coil to different type to solve the problem. Luis came out replaced the coil and that solve our water blow off problem. I recently had my furnace and ducts replaced by Qualtech. I'm so glad I found them, as I was becoming very frustrated with the other companies that had come out for estimates (I had a total of 5 estimates). My first call was answered by Jennifer, who was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We set up a time for my appointment, and it was so nice that she went out of her way to accommodate my very hectic schedule. Their consultant Daniel (absolutely nicest guy ever!) was on time, very professional and provided awesome information, without trying to sell me the most expensive system. When I asked him about their top-of-the-line models, he very honestly explained to me why it was definitely more than I needed for my house. How can you NOT appreciate that kind of honesty?? On the day of the installation, the crew that arrived was very respectful towards us and our home and they protected all the areas they worked in. Omar and Edgar worked tirelessly, and did an amazing job with clean up when they finished. Jennifer was very efficient in getting our permit and inspections set up for us, and explaining the process of inspections. Needless to say, Title 24 inspections were completed effortlessly. Our city inspector came out, passed the installation quickly, and even commented on what a neat installation it was. It was very reassuring that the office staff was in contact with us from start to finish; Miriam, the owner even checked in on us a week later, just to make sure we were happy with our new system, and to answer any questions we might have had about operating the furnace and new thermostat. Luckily, the installation crew had gone through the thermostat settings before leaving, so I didn't have any questions, but I was able to let her know what a great team they are, and how happy we were to have found them. I called Qualtech who I had used in the summer to fix my air conditioner and they were able to come out today and fix my furnace. Now that's what I call customer service. Qualtech was great and handling the cleaning of my company's client's house. We were in a bit of sticky situation with an upset customer, and Qualtech was able to make quick and thorough repairs in a single visit. Their pricing is fair, it is more or less based on the number of vents to clean. We had mis-estimated the number of vents in our case so the bill did end up higher than we had expected, but they were very fair and gave us a bit of a break. Overall it was a smooth experience and I will remember their name for the next time I have to handle dirty vents, whether at home or with a client. read more

Qualtech replaced two furnaces for us in December, and performed a thorough duct-cleaning. They also did an inspection and tune-up of our A/C condensers in April. Communication with the office was very clear and efficient, and for all service calls the technicians were prompt, courteous, and did an excellent job both in their work and in explaining what they had done. We had Qualtech install a air purifier for our home, as well as a whole house humidifier (our son has bad allergies and we thought both may help). Daniel was very nice at the initial meeting and told me that when installing, they would give a tutorial on how to change the humidifier filter that needs to be changed every 3-4 months. The installers told the people I had at home at the time of the install that nothing is needed but a yearly service and to call them in a year. I called Qualtech the next day to inquire about whether we needed to change the filter every 3-4 months because we were told otherwise and were not shown how to do it. Daniel said yes, we do need to change it and to call him in 3-4 months when its time for the change, and they will come to show us how. So, I call and leave a message. No call back for a week. I call again, and am told i would be charged $75 for the visit. I told them that they were the ones who did not show us how to install and Daniel said they would come when the time came. He did not mention being charged for this, when this was their error. So in order for me to have the instruction appointment, they are not willing to make an "extra" trip for me, but I would have to adjust my schedule for when they have time and are specfically in my area. I do understand its better for them, however if approached to me nicely as "would you mind if we did it when we're in the area", I would have said no problem. I do have a negative feeling however when it is told to me unless I'm paying them another $75, I have no choice but to do it on their schedule. It is disappointing that their customer service, once they get your $2500+ dollars, is not as good as before they had their money. I will update this review again, if and when I receive a call to schedule the appointment. UPDATE: Qualtech called me the next day (today). She said she was able to talk to Daniel and he confirmed that the instructional appointment was not going to be charged. We were able to try to work together to find a time that accommodated both parties. I am back to being a fan. read more

Had them come out to do a maintenance check, as we have been in the house for almost 5 years and figured it was time. Super quick response time, very amiable technician who performed a thorough review. Found a couple things, one that needed immediate attention, and the other he said could wait (so no overselling). Came back the next day to install the one part. Came at the time they said they would. Can't ask for anything more. Looking forward to signing a maintenance contract with them. read more

He was able to diagnose the problem and offer a few good solutions. The installation tech, Jesus, arrived on time and was very helpful and efficient. I would give them six stars if I could. Efficient and Honest. Their response was quick and the tech. arrived when they said he would. He listened to the troubleshooting I had already done, respected what I had done, I am an engineer, and zeroed in on the problem with our AC quickly. It was a nail driven through a cable back when the house was built and the insulation had deteriorated after fifteen years creating a short. He and I strung a new cable and it was going in about an hour. Even though the unit is fifteen years old he did not try to sell me a new system and was straightforward and honest. Had a service request performed and the technician arrived on schedule and identified the root cause. Since was a first time home owner was not that aware and ordered the required filter from them. Later I went online to check for the same part, the price charged was close to 3 times what I found online. When I called into cancel the next morning, a 15% restocking fee was applied. I can not say enough about this company, from the initial response time, to the timely completion of the project. I had 2 furnaces that needed to be replaced, after having Qualtech come out a week ago, and do a thorough inspection of both units. Daniel, the owner, did not try to up sell me on anything, and was extremely knowledgeable and professional. They prepared a quote for me within 24 hours, and were flexible with my timeline as to installation dates. Miguel and Jesus arrived at the specified time, and were very respectful (booties the moment they walked in), and courteous, but most of all, quite willing to answer all of my questions, as to the process. In addition, they were incredibly neat and cleaned up after themselves. Technically, these guys knew exactly what they were doing, and checked out everything, from the ductwork under the house, in the attic, to the soldering of the copper pipe to the AC compressor. I had them come out and give me a quote for new vent and dampers. The install was scheduled while I was out of town, so my wife managed. When they arrived, my wife told them "I don't want the dampers in the master bedroom". The 2 young men told my wife "Your husband agreed to this when we met him last week. My wife said "I don't care what he agreed to, I am also the homeowner and I said not to do it". THEY DID IT ANYWAY. Then, she asked about moving the thermostat (since it is in a weird place in the hallway) and they said "I will need to speak to your husband about that". CAN YOU BELIEVE??? When they presented the bill, she said "You call MY HUSBAND since I am not paying for the damper I TOLD YOU not to install". They deducted $400. I called "Daniel" today and all he could say about what happened is "IT'S A CULTURAL THING". I can't even imagine what that means. So, his team culturally doesn't respect woman? I called Qualtech during last week's extreme heat wave when our A/C wouldn't turn on. I had left messages with a couple of other companies so I was very surprised when I got an actual person on the line at 9 pm! I explained that we have a new baby & we were worried about the house getting too hot. They were able to get their service tech (Daniel) out the very next morning & he was able to get the unit up and running. He took the time to explain (in terms I could understand!) what the problem was and what needed to be done to fix it. He even gave me some helpful tips to save some $ during future use. Price seemed to be fair, they were extremely professional but most important I appreciate the fact that they were considerate of our situation and had our AC fixed immediately. read more

My furnace was working intermediately so I called qualtech to come take a look. When Daniel the tech looking a the furnace he wanted to replace the computer at $1000.00. If that did not fix the problem he would come back and replace another part. So on and So on until the problem was solved. Then he told me that dust could be affecting the computer. he did nothing to blow off the dust to see if this would fix the problem. My father worked for over 30 years in HVAC. I also have worked for a few years in this trade. I do know a little. I asked Daniel if it could be the safety valve in e gas line. I was testing his knowledge. I did not tell him I know how the valve works. Basically for the valve to be open there are two plates that are held apart magnetically. If there is a problem the magnetic field stops and the two plates close shutting off the flow of gas to the furnace or when the valve is worn out. So this is an all or nothing deal. Daniel told me that yes it could be the safety valve, The valve can work intermittently at times. When I called the company to get reimbursed for the service call. Due to the fact that Daniel did nothing but talk to me I wanted my money back on the service call. I mentioned all of the above to the secretary. Especially about the working of the safety valve and how Daniel wanted to keep replacing parts to chase the problem and how I thought it was very unprofessional to not have any test equipment with him and wanting to replace parts that may not need to be replaced. After the receptionist realized that I was not going to take no for an answer she told me they would reimburse the money. Before I had a chance to thank her she hung up the phone. Form this action I realized that they are only in business for the money. Not customer satisfaction. Here is the out come of the problem. 2 of the 8 individual screws holding 8 individual wires in place were loose. I disconnected the 8 wires and cleaned the ends of the wires with steel wool and recommended the wire and firmly tightened the screws. The furnace is working just fine. Seems to me that this would of been one of the things Daniel would of checked prior to suggesting that he replace a $1000.000 computer and chase parts. It amazes me that Daniel has 20 years experience in the field. Anyone in the S.F. bay area I highly recommend Golden Gate sheet metal for any of you heating and air-conditioning needs. This company is outstanding. They would of suggested that I blow the dust off the computer and If I still had problems to give them a call and they would be more than happy to have someone come out and take a look.. I would of called this company first for I have used them in the past. They are not open on weekends when my furnace went hay wire. I have animals in the house which was my concern in having the furnace fixed immediately. Never again will I ever hire a non union shop to do any work on my home.
