Dead capacitor fixed in no time!

90+ degrees today and tomorrow and our a/c was suddenly down. With a dozen guests due to arrive tonight we were in a bind without a/c. Air Performance came to the rescue, diagnosed the problem right away and our air was working again in about 30 minutes! Very happy with the experience, very respectful, considerate to try come quickly in light of our dinner situation!

I can't say enough good thinks about John and his team. I called John after I had someone come out to fix a problem with my Trane furnace and told me the whole thing needed to be replaced. I was skeptical since the system wasn't that old. As the official Trane dealer for the east bay I thought I'd reach out to Air Performance and Heating for their opinion. John was awesome, he was also skeptical that it needed to be replaced, and he was able to consult with me over the phone and asked me to try a few things and spent time with me to try to fix it (all free of charge). Ultimately I did need to replace the system, and John concurred but only after trying a number of different things (all for free) which I was super appreciative of. When I decided to replace it, I asked John for a quote. He prepared a quote with high end and more budget friendly options. His quote was competitive with other companies, and given his great investment in helping me, and the great warranty he offered, we decided to go with him. On install day the team showed up at 9 (right on time) and worked all the way till 8 pm. They were professional and very nice, they communicated to us well, and their work was very clean. They even found a few ways to come in under budget. They came back the next day to finish up and test out the system, and again they were a pleasure to work with and have in my home. I am really really happy that we chose John and his awesome team. We will definitely use them for any future work and I highly recommend them for anyone looking. Thank you guys!

Our air conditioner failed in our single story house during the summer (2021) and was fixed, however, it seemed like it needed replacement. We replaced our 24 year old air conditioner and furance in November 2021. We decided on the TRANE system with CleanEffects air cleaner and Air Performance. After determining we wanted the higher efficiency furance, we recieved a bid. In fact, we got 4 bids total. 2 for Trane, and one from the Lenox and Carrier dealer/installers. Each of these actually came to the house to scope out the work. We picked Air Performance because of some Yelp review comments and the knowledge of John (& Don in sales) about our specific install. We set up a time to start the install with John, the exceptionally knowledgeable owner. Ronnie was the lead. He and his assistant (I think Andrew) work very deligently and professionally to make modification to make the new system fit and function optimally. There are many details that they addressed during the install that I can't cover. A couple, however, stick out. 1-The air cleaner was postioned to be convenient to clean and yet optimally functional. Thank to the creative thinking of Ronnie. 2-The low temperature furnance exhaust was routed in the attic with the appropriate slope and end cap. Good job Andrew. 3-The 5 wire thermostat cable was replaced by a 6 wire cable. This was a lot of extra work- but done RIGHT. Both Ronnie and Andrew worked hard to route the cable. The Ecobee thermostat works GREAT. 4-Each of the ceiling registers were sealed to prevent leaks to the attic. This seemed like a small thing to me initially because no other installer did it. Wow! Was I wrong. As it turns out, significant leakage can occurs to the attic. So when closing the front door quickly it causes a vacuum and air (dust) can be drawn in from the attic. Andrew sealed all the registers as part of the standard install process. It was noticed that the house has a lot less dust than before. 5-And now the BEST. Feb. 18, 2022. The city inspector liked the install and even wanted more information about the installing company. He was amazed at the low duct leak level. Sealing the registers is one contributor. He signed off on it with no issues to correct. I recommend Air Performance to install or repair any Trane or other AC/Furance system. RonS

From the start, the owner took the time to walk through multiple options with me, explaining the pros and cons of each. He was thorough, patient, and ultimately came up with a smart approach that worked well for the layout of the house. The installation crew was excellent. They were professional, friendly, and clearly very knowledgeable about what they were doing. They also took care to keep things tidy and picked up after themselves each day, which I really appreciated. On top of that, the pricing was competitive compared to other quotes I received. Overall, a great experience and I'm very happy with the results. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone looking for HVAC work.

I went through the automated system by phone and an appt was scheduled the coming Monday - fast. I don't like automated systems and this system was unlike the others for cable, healthcare, etc., this one actually WORKED on every single thing the first time! I usually have negative sentiment towards a company after using their poorly designed automated system, not this one - I had positive sentiment. I got the text confirmation immediately. In the coming days I received the expected and timely reminder, and "heads-up on the way." David showed up in the arrival time window professionally and wore booties over his boots inside our house. David assessed the error code, confirmed the issue, focused on safety and then gave me the bad news. First, it was going to be expensive - an induction motor replacement. Second, though it was going to be expensive, he didn't recommend I hire him. He thought I'd get better (faster, more efficient, happy) service for my brand of furnace by working with an authorized factory service company, given that it was this particular manufacturer. Apparently, if he called in for part availability, it's a job he certainly can do, that's not the issue, the company would be slow to respond to him because he's not an authorized service company for my brand - YET. He is for another brand, just not mine - YET. This would add friction to the process, to the point of not accepting as credible the assessment (we had a code, mind you) of an experienced HVAC pro. He didn't want me to go through this. It wouldn't make me happy and it's possible it would just delay - without heat in winter - the inevitable of having to go the authorized service route in the end anyway. I will say that using Yelp I found an authorized company I liked. (I called two companies, the first one was in town and a mile away and I was not impressed. The next was a couple cities over and I used them.) I was not charged for the diagnosis. THIS IS LONG TERM THINKING AND TRUE, OLD-SCHOOL CUSTOMER SERVICE! I not only recommend Art of Comfort though I did not have more than the diagnostic piece done, I have saved their number for the future and will share it with friends and neighbors. Our house has two separate furnace / AC systems. I had them installed new in 2006. Something is bound to go wrong after 19 years and I have David and Art of Comfort on speed dial. Thank you David!

During the estimate phase, Constantine was a breath of fresh air. Instead of pushing generic upsells, he actually "downsold" us by engineering exactly what we needed to work seamlessly with our home's downflow ducting. He was honest, straightforward, and clearly explained the system without any high-pressure sales tactics. For the installation, Mike and Diego were our crew. They arrived a little past the initial 9am window on the first day, but they worked incredibly hard and got the entire complex job done right on schedule. At the start of Day 1, I handed them a simple "homeowner's QA" list of things I wanted to check with them at the end. They were super nice, listened, and gladly accommodated every single request. The workmanship is top-notch. They perfectly sealed the exterior wall where the lineset exits, helped me get the Kumo Cloud Wi-Fi connected to my phone, and hauled away all the old debris, leaving the site spotless. As a testament to their technical skill, when I asked about the refrigerant line vacuum test, they had pulled it down to 350 microns--which is a great number and proves they don't cut corners! Pics attached of the final setup. If you want an HVAC company that is honest in the office and expert in the field, we highly recommend the Galaxy team!

The gas furnace was about 25 years old and rated for a 1000 sqft home and the ductwork under the house was ripped and torn. Our house wasn't heating, our gas bill was $400 a month alone. Instead of trying to fix the current system, we wanted to upgrade to AC/heat and modernize with ceiling vents. We landed on a hybrid system: 4 ton variable heat pump outside, a backup gas furnace in the attic, whole house filter, 2 zones for the house because of our layout with two gen 4 nest thermostats, r8 ductwork, 15 ceiling vents, 2 air intakes, and all the permits. Their quote included a 3 year warranty on labor, whereas the other 4 companies were only 1 year. Nice bonus perk. The project took 5 full days to complete, and they are coming back Monday for a partial day for final touch ups. Anson came by same day and walked through the property with me, getting the full picture of what we would need. He literally drew everything out, saying it's very important that I understand what is going on because it is permanent. Anson cleared up a ton of questions I had. We talked over vent location, system size, zoning, equipment, everything. He took his time and was very patient. The quote he gave was very competitive to the other 4 I received. I decided on Spot Free because of Anson's care in explanations, his patience and detail, their quality of yelp reviews, the labor warranty and finally their price. I kept the contract though because of Jamie lol she is such a sweetheart. One of the other companies, bigger named and 2k+ reviews offered to price match, but I loved Jamie so much, as well as Anson was so quick to answer my questions over text, and the labor warranty was better. Decided to stay with them even with the price match, although that was very generous of the other company to do. The install itself went super smoothly. Brandon was the lead communicator with us on the project. He, and the whole team, did an amazing job! I felt like he kept us in the loop about everything important, in a non-invasive way, we got the vents mostly where we wanted them (beams/structure dependent), and we could still live in the house mostly uninterrupted with what I felt was still a ton of privacy given the scope and nature of the work. Honestly didn't even notice they were here for the most part, my husband and dad napped through most of the noise lol! The amount of care the team had for our belongings was also very impressive, and noted. They covered everything with plastic sheets, including stuff in our garage like our stroller. That attention to detail was super kind! They also fully cleaned up after themselves every day! Vacuumed, swept, taped up the work in progress vents, removed sheeting, etc. They were also all super careful to keep doors closed, we have 2 cats and I never worried they would be let out. It was a pleasure having the team here! The vents look super clean! Very well done. The thermostats work great, Brandon helped get them set up on our phones in the google home app and patiently, after what I know to be a long day, taught us the various settings so we could get started and ensured all parts of the system were working, much appreciated! We have heat! This is excellent! And the system is so so so quiet! It's just night one after install, but the whole house is an even temperature. Looking forward to playing with the app and sensors to fine tune our comfort here, but it's so easy and it just works so far! I'm super excited for summer, to test the AC out. I'm also looking forward to our next PGE bill, to see if maybe we are saving money lol! Spot Free HVAC is 10/10, wonderful company and people!
