My husband and I evaluated three vendors around the area in great detail and despite Chill coming out slightly more expensive than others, we felt they were the most thorough and comprehensive during the consultation (and the many follow-up questions I had). They were also able to squeeze us into their busy schedule so we could get AC before the heat wave! During installation, they ran into several challenges with placement of the new unit and some wiring that needed more attention. They worked through and around them to make everything work out in the end. I really appreciate their flexibility and expertise to navigate all the roadblocks without changing the scope of work. TIP: Measure the space where the unit is going to be placed and make sure the new unit will fit OR that you discuss this before the project starts.

We made an appointment, A gentleman came out, he emailed us a quote, a day or two later. When we had more questions, Galaxy sent out another gentleman to go over additional questions and we settled on the same, trane/American standard system . Within a week the full system was scheduled for install. The young men who installed the system were very respectful of the property very respectful of my father since his house is immaculate. You would've never known they were even there they cleaned up so well. They completed all the work in one day, which was shocking they went above and beyond and replaced a water nozzle that had been leaking under his house for who knows how long. What I appreciated most was that he didn't just start replacing parts. He thoroughly diagnosed the system, explained what he was testing, and walked me through the results. He showed me that the capacitor was testing low, the contactor was worn and pitted, and even performed a megger test on the compressor to verify it was still healthy. After the repairs, he confirmed everything was working properly by showing me the compressor amperage had dropped back to normal and that the system had an 18-degree temperature split. Keon was patient with all of my questions and never made me feel rushed. He explained the pros and cons of the recommended repairs, including the hard-start kit, so I could make an informed decision instead of feeling pressured. I really appreciated his transparency and professionalism. By the time he was done, our AC was cooling properly again, and he even worked with us on the final price. Janay from Perfect called and informed me there would be a diagnostic fee of $150. I said that's OK but I have a parts and labor warranty through Lennox for 7 years. She said you still have to pay the diagnosis fee AND the labor. I said that's not how it should work, as they should be reimbursed from Lennox for the labor through the warranty. She again stated I would have to pay the labor. I declined to schedule and immediately contacted Lennox Customer Service directly at 1-800-953-6669. The representative at Lennox immediately told me that's absolutely incorrect and the labor would be covered and the diagnostic fee through the warranty - as long as it wasn't from another reason than manufacture defects. I don't recommend Perfect Star for Lennox warranty repairs as it seems they don't want to fully honor the warranty and process.

I saw the great reviews for AIS and noticed a $58 service call special advertised on Yelp, so I reached out. Making an appointment was incredibly easy. Brenham arrived in just a few hours. He was pleasant to work with and clearly knew his stuff. He quickly diagnosed the issue and fixed it; it turned out to be a disconnected wire, so it was a pretty simple fix. While he was there, he also looked at another issue I was having with my heater short-cycling. It turned out the motherboard needed to be replaced, and he luckily had one with him. The price was on the higher side for a relatively simple swap, but I understand I am paying for his expertise, and since he fixed my AC on the spot, it seemed fair. He offered various other upgrades and maintenance plans, but all of that felt unnecessary for a 34-year-old system that is on borrowed time, so I declined. I would definitely use this company again and was very satisfied with the service.

I called around and AIS came to the rescue. They were able to send a technician, Brenham, out the same day! My window was between noon and 3pm. I got a text from the office at 12:30 that the technician would arrive close to 2:30. Even though that arrival was within the window they had already communicated, they still thoughtfully reached out to give me a more precise time. This was much appreciated as it allowed me to run out and do a couple of errands before the technician arrived. Brenham texted me about 20 min before his arrival saying he was on the way. He arrived right on time and was very respectful and had a nice, easy going demeanor. He got right to work troubleshooting the furnace, explaining to me how he was approaching the task, which I appreciated. I even learned a couple of things about furnaces! The issue ended up being the furnace's mother board and the "universal" board he had was not compatible. I feared this meant he would have to order one and it would be more days without AC. Brenham said he would check his van to see what he had and thankfully had the exact board for my furnace. He replaced the board and the furnace blower turned on! Even though my issues was resolved, he took the extra time to check on my outdoor AC unit and did some diagnostics including checking the refrigerant levels. It was a nice "extra comfort" to know the AC unit checked out fine. I was in a jam and AIS came through for me. Brenham was extremely knowledgeable and did great work. HIGHLY recommend AIS for all your HVAC needs.

Heat pumps installed alongside existing central air is not an uncommon request, but we had a great conversation with Brook on how we might update to a more modern system in the future, given our original(!) furnace's age. Side questions for him aside, we had a thoughtfully sized system outlined and quoted within a day, and scheduled within two weeks. Our experience with the installation was similarly great, with the team arriving promptly as scheduled and taking the care to put on shoe coverings moving through the house. Everyone was polite and efficient, bringing the plan to life and bringing us in early when there were onsite decisions to be made in our unique spaces. When an issue arose on the cooling not blowing as cold as we had expected, they were quick to assist with troubleshooting, and had it fully remediating within the week. Permits are still pending due to the Oakland backlog, but their lead electrician will also be onsite during the inspection process so I have no worries there. While our immediate need during the heat wave this Spring was cooling our living spaces, I have full confidence that whenever we go to multizone heating and cooling, Spot Free will be our go-to experts!

First, the heat pump brand was changed in the quote to one that we did not want (Carrier). We were replacing it due to leakage of carbon monoxide. This is obviously a safety concern for us, but also a peace of mind issue. We had discussed using Carrier at the site visit, but I was adamant to avoid it. Second, Brook mentioned that there was a manufacturer's recall on our existing 1-year old Mitsubishi heat pump (we have 2 zones with 2 separate units) and that we should pay him out of pocket to fix it. I was confused, because we received no information regarding a recall and typical costs associated with a recall are not paid by the customer. Furthermore, we hadn't experienced any issues and we're still within the warranty period from the manufacturer and installer. Brook said he had been processing a lot of recalls on units he installed and Mitsubishi was slow to send parts so it's easier to pay him directly for the repair. I contacted the original installer, who we had a very positive experience with initially, and they said there was no recall. I also looked online and couldn't find any information regarding a recall.

However, crawlspaces can get moldy and wet from lack of care. If you ever encounter rodents, there is a good chance they came via the crawlspace. After all, we do hear noises at night at times, which is creepy. Jacob visited and gave a comprehensive review and estimate. We basically went for a full package of rodent control, cleaning, and installing a new vapor shield to keep it dry. The while job took maybe 2.5 days with a crew of 3 workers each day. Outstanding quality work. First phase was sealing up the homes around the house and crawlspace, and laying traps. The attic was inspected too. This was followed up with weekly followups to ensure no more rodents. This scope was subcontracted to Golden State Critter Control. Highly recommend working with Greg. The next two phases involve cleaning and eventually reinstallation of the vapor shield. Compared to what we had before, it was day and night! I also appreciated the crew alerting me to a leaky drain pipe. I later worked with a plumber to replace a cracked 3"D drain pipe that connected upstairs to downstairs. It was fixed in about 3 hours with two plumbers. Definitely recommend Crawlspace Clean for rodent control and crawlspace cleaning. 5 stars.

The cleaners were very careful to keep the area around the workspace very clean and safe. Working below the foundation cleared debris and then sterilized the area. Then removing rat contamination and feces from the attic and the existing contaminated insulation. All questions were answered on the spot and any concerns were taken care of immediately. Even a missed closet was taken care of the next day. The cleaning and sterilization was done in 5 days. Due to the size of the home and the time to clean and replace the insulation. I spoke with many contractors, and almost all of them sent salespeople who gave generic answers or tried to push cookie-cutter solutions that clearly didn't fit my setup. Carlos was completely different. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he wasn't a salesperson -- he's an engineer, and it shows. He took the time to deeply understand my system, reviewed actual spec sheets on the spot, and immediately identified issues that other contractors completely missed. Multiple companies told me Hyundai panels would work fine. Carlos checked the amperage limits, applied proper safety margin calculations, and clearly explained why those panels would not work with my EcoFlow system -- saving me from a costly mistake. He also walked me through: Proper panel selection within voltage and amperage limits Safe string configurations and series wiring How to maximize roof space while staying within code Permitting requirements I hadn't been told about before On top of that, Carlos identified critical code and safety requirements that no one else mentioned: Bollards required in the garage to protect battery units Correct battery placement to maintain required clearance from doors and entrances Heat detector requirements for battery installations in a garage These are all things that would have caused inspection failures later -- and Carlos caught them immediately. In order to give Comfy Heating & Air Conditioning a fair review, I wanted to share the vetting process we went through and the following reasons why we selected Comfy. 1). We received a personal recommendation from my wife's co-worker which used Comfy to replace their HVAC system. 2). Abel Vieira, the owner personally met with us to explain our options in replacing our furnace & air conditioner. 3).Comfy sent us a bid proposal immediately detailing out the scope of services and corresponding fees. 4). Prior to executing the contract, we had many questions about Comfy's process, equipment, including installers (no subs). Abel was very patient and addressed all of our concerns prior to engaging with Comfy including pre and post installation. Abel was always very accessible and responsive. 5). No upselling, just good solid recommendations regarding the HVAC equipment for our house. 6) We selected Comfy based on the recommendation we previously cited, strong technical background and expertise and a fair bid proposal. Comfy sent out three installers: Claudio (lead foreman), Jefferson, and Jorge. All three were very knowledgeable and worked cohesively together. The installers were very mindful of COVID protocols, professional, and cleaned up daily. If I had a question regarding the installation process, equipment, current air flow/venting, etc. they took the time to discuss this with us. The attention to detail was right on point as we had mechanical inspectors (CalRaters and County inspector) confirm the installation was done properly. Abel Vieira also came out after the job was completed to inspect the work and assist us with questions we had about the equipment and thermostat functionalities. Lastly, from the beginning to the end, Comfy performed and executed on the contract with professional and technical expertise. Comfy's professional team led by Abel Vieira have many years working for him (Claudio has been with Comfy for over 16 years). Comfy is by far the best company I've dealt with. I have a 17 year old carrier furnace that would come on whenever it felt like it. Which by the way is not when I wanted it to. Most of the time it would just make noise and blow cold air. I called a company out of San Ramon and the technician they sent out was incredibly rude and condescending. To make matters worse he couldn't figure out the problem and recommended I buy a new furnace...talk about unprofessional. A neighbor recommended Comfy and after a brief Google search that led me here I called them. From the beginning the office attendant, Amber was funny and so helpful. She had me scheduled the next day. I was quite impressed given I had to wait 2 weeks for the last company. The day of my appointment, the lead technician, James called me 30 mins before my appointment time to let me know he was on his way. Since I was running late he offered to wait for me, so awesome. James spent over an hour looking over my heater due to the complexity of the problem. It turned out several things went wrong, one of which was my fault for having my brother attempt to DIY the thing. James explained how these parts work together and can cause problems in easy to understand language (the opposite of the earlier condescending attitude). He had the parts in his van and within 20 minutes had my heater working again. He even fixed what my brother messed up and didn't even charge me for that. All in all James repaired my unit (which was the control board, thermostat miswiring, transformer, and capacitor). He also adjusted my gas pressure free of charge which was way off. Although the repairs were complicated and somewhat pricy, the value, service, professionalism and curtious demenor of James and Comfy make them my go to company. This is my first Yelp Review ever and it took me a while to finally post...I felt though that I need to share the Incredibly Positive Experience I had with Comfy. I consider a Privilege and a Chance to be a Comfy's Customer. I recently purchased a new house in Moraga, CA and needed to get AC. My first contact was with Austin who was very knowledgeable, polite and professional. I never had installed an AC or Heating System before and Austin patiently walked me through all the the process with comprehensive technical details and information about timelines, permit process etc. I had a very complicate situation and a tight schedule to execute on given my family constraints (I have an infant with a challenging sleeping schedule and needed to squeeze the install with short notice prior to our move) as well as technical constraints: I wanted to install a second electric panel, etc etc. I felt originally discouraged and almost ready to give up given my intricate situation however Austin made possible to execute on an impossibly tight schedule and with meeting ALL the numerous constraints that I had at my side. His crew lead by Claudio was truly Outstanding and performed an Awesome install. I also interacted with Abel who stopped a couple of times for follow up checks as well as Angie who was very kind and helped with scheduling and coordination. It has been almost two months now since we use the AC that Austin's Team installed for us and it worked Impeccably ! We experienced more than a handful of really hot days and we were truly Happy to enjoy a Flawless AC system that made all of us feel Blessed and grateful to have chosen Comfy! Thank you Austin! I had combined AC and heating system installed winter 2018/2019 after our 25 + year old forced air heater/blower died. I never had AC so thought this would be a good time to upgrade. I was impressed by the crew that came out including the electricians that Comfy subcontracted to expand my late 60's breaker box that had run out of room for 220 expansion needed for new AC unit. Everyone was approachable and did not try to up sell me a larger AC unit then I needed to cool my relatively small house. I had one problem with the wire between thermostat and blower running across attic floor. Despite being careful not to step on it we must have moved it enough to need a service visit a few months after installation. Comfy took care of the issue without a charge. Later that year when it got hot outside the AC didn't work when I tried to use it the first time. Again Comfy came out at no charge and we found the outside power switch off - probably done by the electricians. A few weeks ago the AC stopped working. Turned out to be the internal breaker on the blower which a Comfy service man reset at no expense and then relocated wire in attic since that was the probable cause for breaker getting tripped. I greatly appreciate the quality of work and level of service Comfy provided us - always timely, polite and reasonably priced. I recommend them without reservation. read more

Being in the real estate business I'm usually able to find a referral for most of my housing needs. But with our recent heatwave all of the HVAC referrals I received were booked for 2 weeks. So in a desperate attempt to get someone out sooner I took to Yelp. I called Abel's office and was told he was booked for the next 10 days but to put my name on his web site and he'll call if he's in the area. Not believing I'd really get a call I put my name and number on the list. To my surprise I received a call the following day from Abel saying he was in the area and could have a look on Sat (today). He was extremely knowledgable, courteous and professional. He quickly diagnosed the issue and replaced the parts for a fraction of what I was expecting. He was here a total of 30 mins and my AC is working perfectly. I'd highly recommend his services and will be calling him when I'm ready to upgrade my heating and cooling units. read more

This is a 5 star review for Abel and his team at Comfy Heating and Air. With the summer heat heading our way again soon, we decided to upgrade our detached home office to include a ductless mini-split system for cooling and heating. We were impressed with how quickly the owner Abel responded with a free quote, how soon afterwards the work was scheduled and how well the job was executed. Comfy are following all PPE regulations so we felt safe having them on our property. Abel listened our requirements and made a manufacturer recommendation that we accepted and are very happy with. Our home's AC went out, and I began calling local HVAC contractors. The AC was very old (23 years), and it was time to replace it. I met in person with two of the candidates, and I chose Comfy. It was a wise choice. Kirk Schlichting showed up on time, was courteous, and he quoted me a good price on a good system, with none of the "let me talk to my manager" haggling. He didn't waste my time. On installation day, after disassembling the AC system, it turned out that the job was going to be a little bigger than originally thought. I have been without heat in my house since the heavy rain started. I phoned an East Bay company who came out "fixed" the problem. Well, 1 week later, the heater was out again. Driving to up I-13, I spotted this fun looking truck with the words, "HEATING." When I got to work, I went on line and placed an inquiry. Before I could close the website, Angie phoned me. Comfy HVAC of San Ramon(represented by Abel Vieira) and Home Depot, what a winning combination. I went to Home Depot for a quote to replace my homes dead air conditioner, HomeDepot sent their certified contractor Comfy HVAC. Abel's quote was the most competitive and reasonable (Costco quoted near double the cost of Comfy). Abel got on the job right away, professionally installed a new Rheem compressor and even found the original problem that killed my older AC unit prematurely. Tom Yip, who came to our place for the initial quote and estimation was so thorough in his explanation about the options, we were onboard after the discussion and the followup with estimation and the entire cost laid down in an email along with the options. 2 positive reviews in one - long overdue. Abel was able to get to my non-working AC within a couple of hours of my call in the midst of a July 2013 heat wave. He got it up and running pronto. I knew the system was old and on its last legs (he warned me). Sure enough, an internal leak rendered it inoperable by May 2014. And so shortly thereafter, Abel and his team did a super job of replacing and upgrading the entire HVAC system (actually two - upper and lower). They were thorough and clean. All system tests passed and inspection was a breeze. I'd recommend without hesitation. read more

I am very happy with the new heater installed by Comfy. We had three estimates done and out of the three, Kirk was the most helpful in this process. I appreciated his honesty with the products and he did not try to "up-sale" us into something more than we needed. We have a home built in 1932 so there were some tricky issues with getting a register to an upstairs bedroom. Abel was able to come up with a great solution. The installation was very fast with good project management, as we had an asbestos abatement they oversaw as well. read more

From start to finish my experience with Comfy Heating has been pleasant. We ended up paying less than half of what another service company wanted to charge. I am uncomfortable working with service companies because I am always unsure whether we are getting an honest and fair price for the service provided. When they came to fix our duct it was a simple job so they lowered our price from the original estimated price. You don't see that happen very often. They are honest and pleasant people to work with. Just used Comfy to service our HVAC unit for the first time. Initially, they had me scheduled two days out. When I asked if they could call back if any cancellations occurred, they said they would. Less than an hour later, Abel, the technician called and said he had time the same afternoon. In less than an hour, he was on site and provided a quick fix to the down unit. Miguel and Jorge were assigned with replacing my 30 year old furnace. They arrived early on the install date. Throughout the installation both gentleman remained courteous and professional. Our furnace was located in the attic, and due to the size of the new furnace, there was a need to lift the new furnace through the heating exhaust. ComfyHVAC did an awesome job! They came over within a few days of my phone call to give us a great quote and I got an installation date for two weeks later. Even though we had already booked the date, they kept asking if we'd like to move it up since there were sudden openings!! Really nice of them to do that considering it's summertime! I'm thankful that he arrived less than 24 hours of my phone call. He diagnosed the problem and replaced the part in the same visit. But now it is 4/20/2026, and we are having the same problem again. It is already expensive even for labor. I don't know if it is comparable to the market for such services. I wish the diagnosis included the why the unit is having these electrical problems. Update: A experienced tech was sent to our home on 4/21 to diagnose the problem which was a loose wire. No charge. The technician was understanding and explained what was going on as well as checked the heating just in case there was a problem. I appreciate the time he took to throughly let us know what to expect. AC has a time delay as a safety feature for the compressor. It blinks "cool on" and takes time to turn on. If switching on and off, the time delay is extended. Praying all runs smoothly from now on. Btw, thank you for wearing shoe booties to keep the inside of my home clean!

We paid over $36,000 for a flagship Lennox Signature Series heat pump system, and the entire experience has been an absolute nightmare of safety violations, incompetence, and broken contracts. Here are the documented facts of our installation: 1. Safety Hazards & Property Damage During the install, the crew disconnected our gas line during unistall of our gas furnace without shutting off the main valve, causing gas to leak into our home on two separate occasions. They also haphazardly stored heavy, explosive oxygen tanks and oil inside our plastic deck box, permanently deforming and damaging our property and creating fire hazard. 2. Immediate System Failures & "Vaporware" Fixes Within the first 24 hours, the system suffered critical electrical shutdowns, throwing "Inverter DC Peak Faults" and shutting off our heat every morning. The system's own diagnostic panel showed impossible voltage spikes (550V) and 0.0 subcooling (wrong refrigerant readings). Instead of fixing it, EHA technicians repeatedly dismissed these hard mechanical failures as mere "display glitches." We later found out from Lennox engineering that the inverter error is a known defect with no current fix other than a theoretical future software update. 3. Unauthorized Modifications & Broken Zoning EHA breached our contract. They certified our existing ductwork as "adequate" in writing, but then performed unapproved structural modifications to our ducts without a signed Change Order. As a result, they completely broke our zoning system. 4. Severe Compressor Vibration and Unprofessionalism They mounted our variable-capacity outdoor unit on a field-fabricated, angle-iron stand, creating a severe harmonic vibration that wakes us up in the middle of the night. When they came back to "fix" it, they wedged isolation pads under the connection brackets without our permission or awareness, making the noise even worse. To top it off, during an onsite visit, the Lennox field technician was confrontational and actually told us directly that he would never replace his own gas furnace with a heat pump--a stunning admission about the very product they just sold us. We have officially demanded a full removal of the equipment and a full refund through Costco, and we are escalating this to the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB). Do not trust this company with your home, your safety, or your money.
