First of all, hotels and motels around Phoenix are WAY too expensive. We can't figure out if they're gauging actual snow birds or the families that have to visit their snow birds. Ugh! This motel is about an hour north of the Phoenix area. We stayed here on our way out of town because it was cheaper than the $160 motel 6 in Phoenix. We weren't expecting a 4-star hotel obviously, but overall I can only give this stay a 2. When we checked in around 8:30 pm, the clerk had to "look" for a room for us even though we had a prepaid reservation(?) And then there was about 5 cars on the entire backside of the motel. As we were walking up to our room, a huge white truck was driving up and down the back driveway as if they were casing the place. That didn't bode well. I'll start with the pros: -cheaper than Phoenix -The bed was comfortable for sleeping -the room was gigantic -the shower head was tall enough for my 6'2 husband -there was a pretty view from our balcony -our car didn't get broken into (the truck made us nervous, lol) -Great for smokers (see cons) -Payson has a Walmart and a McDonalds and other local restaurants. Cons: -No WiFi: we couldn't connect to WiFi so we called the front desk and we were told that the Internet goes down in Payson at night - wtf - that's not a thing. We couldn't connect the next morning either. -The front desk woman made a point of telling us about their awesome free breakfast and she listed everything they offered including omelets. I'm imagining an omelet station. No, it was powdered eggs, sausage patties, and pre-folded cheese omelets like you can buy in the store. Everything else was basically a continental breakfast. There wasn't even BACON. It was a travesty. -One of the drapes rods was missing making it difficult to open and close -The balcony screen door was hanging off the door -one of our key cards didn't work -the clock radio was from like the late 90s or something. It had some kind of input plug that was from when iPhones had a separate audio out jack. -The room was heavily fragranced like the smell of something trying to hide the smell of cigarette smoke -on the way to our room, we saw evidence of lots of smoking stations. Ash trays and the way chairs were arranged outside, etc. -our room (221) had a connecting door to room (222). At one point, my husband smelled pot (we're from CO so we know our pot smells, lol), so I was trying to figure out where the smell was coming from. I put my nose up the connecting door to our room, and OMG, that room had to have been filled with smoke for the smell to be so strong. So, if you are a smoker or a toker, this would be a great place to stay because you have your own balcony or patio. We wouldn't stay here again unless there was no other option.

    Bedbug

BEDBUGS! They have bed bugs, dirty beds, and poor customer service. Also don't expect to go in the pool or hot tub, it's taped off. I had an issue with my first room's tv and internet not working so they switched my room. In the first room we found someone's pack of cookies in the drawer and tons of hair and crumbs in the freezer. I get to the next room and as I usually do I turn down the sheets and check for bedbugs. I check the first bed and area, great. Second bed and area. What's that??!!!! A BEDBUG! The front desk lady was rude at quality inn and said we're in the woods you're gonna find bugs and acted like she didn't have time for the situation. Comfort inn also has bedbugs and they have the same house keeper so it won't be clean there either.

3.5 stars Customer service rep (Ross?) at front desk check in was lacking, unprofessional, and unfriendly. Hotel room was ok, but overpriced for what it was. I booked this through Priceline. The area was good, with a Walmart and Safeway nearby, and a Maverick across the street. No WiFi, although it is advertised and neither of the hotel keys worked. The front desk guy did bring 2 more keys down to the room. Room was tidy, smelled fresh, sheets and towels were clean, and bed was fine for one night. There is also a balcony with chair that looks out on a nice tree-covered lawn. All doors had locks, bars, etc for good security. Overnight, my extremely packed car was safe and not burgled. Breakfast is the best full offering I've seen with make your own waffle, eggs Patties, sausage Patties, all kinds of bread, oatmeal, juices, yogurt, oranges, cereals, and even cinnamon rolls. Hats off to everyone in housekeeping for the clean rooms and bathrooms. Pool and hot tub were open and operational, and appeared clean, as did the small, but well appointed work out room. I'd sat here again.

Stayed here in the past and had a great stay. This time is way different. The staff is not helpful at all. To the extent of refusing us extra pillows due to the hotel being at capacity. There are 8 cars here.....also the room smells like ammonia and dog piss and the fridge had the last peoples food and drinks in it. Dog hair on all my clothes and shoes and I don't own a dog. Microwave has food particles in it and the phone in the room doesn't work so when we call the office, we get treated as if we aren't a guest. All in all, worst experience I've had at a hotel. I won't return here next time I'm in town. They have offered no assistance to help with any of these issues. Stayed here in the past and had a great stay. This time is way different. Average roadside motel, the staff was very friendly and helpful. About the room very dates, could use a little facelift. Free bfast was good, the wifi is horrible

It wasn't horrible but could definitely use some cleaning. The room was huge- way bigger than expected. Overall felt like a mediocre hotel stay, nothing fancy.

When I got to my room upon arrival, I walked in and the smell of animal urine almost knocked me over. The main phone was broken, the floor was filthy, and one of the bedspreads was crumpled up in the corner behind a chair which told me the room had not been cleaned. I called the front desk to request a new room but she said they were full. The staff is very friendly and tried to be accommodating, but the bones of the place are horrible. When they say free Wi-Fi, it means the two seconds it's on and then it disappears again. I had to use my phone hotspot to work for three days. Every time I called the front desk they said they were either working on it or it was fixed but it never got fixed. I went to the front desk to show them my computer and the front desk was the only place you could connect to the Wi-Fi and she told me "oh yeah, Apple computers don't like our system" Apple is the way of the world and clearly this hotel is stuck in the 80s. The next day I did get a new room which was cleaned, but again, the grounds are filthy and for what I paid, it wasn't worth it. It was one of the only few places that took my dog which is why I had to stay here.

Okay, this is a long one as I feel it's needed to actually feel the five star experience!…read more Majestic Mountain Inn, so cute! Family and I decided to take a night trip to Payson. Booked the room hours before arrival with only past experiences guiding my choices. We booked a queen room with two queen beds, photos showed a fireplace as well... I mean winter in Payson Az demands a fireplace... right? Done... booked... on our way. We arrived just before dinner. Once we pulled up, you see a quaint looking mountain hotel escape with one large two story building and several connecting little cottage looking rooms. The manager who checked us in (please forgive me for forgetting his name) had been very accommodating with our requests for more blankets and a lower level room. He also recommended the local pizza restaurant for dinner within walking distance. Our room was adorable and large! Two queen beds, a couch, fireplace and large vanity area with plenty of space for four. The beds were so comfortable and with the fireplace only, left us with a very cozy evening. Almost felt like you were in a secluded cabin in the woods. Also, I won't forget to mention, breakfast was included! Eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, biscuits, and gravy... so much to choose from. My husband has decided that this will be our "go-to" in Payson from now on. Thanks Majestic Mountain Inn for making our adventure more memorable! See you next time! I apologize for not having any Photos but we were too busy taking in the ambience of this town and making memories, I didn't even think to grab my phone.

HORRIBLE BAIT AND SWITCH. Fake advertising! They took out ALL of the fireplaces! No one told us…read morewhen we booked! I'm sure this was to save money on propane and maybe on insurance, too. But they still charge FULL RATE! About the most expensive room in Payson. We are paying over $200 per night. Over $400 this weekend. Why not pass on a little bit of the savings? They need to be HONEST in their advertising and website. This is NOT okay. In the big hole - where the fireplace USED to be - they placed a portable electric heater that has FAKE logs and a glowing light. It blows out a little heat, but not enough to heat in the winter. There's is an under window unit for more heat, but it is NOT CHARMING. We're here for our anniversary. I would not recommend this place if you want romance. It has totally lost the allure that has had us coming back here for 30 + years. Even though the rooms are getting run down, it is still a good location with a decent breakfast. (We'll see tomorrow). Still one of the better places in Payson. But NOT a romantic getaway anymore.

This place was not worth the money whatsoever. When we first checked in, I let the front desk agent…read moreknow that we had a service dog with us. No questions asked, she simply said okay. I had a really rough week, and so I booked a more expensive suite with a jacuzzi tub in it. Upon entering the room, we were impressed with the size, but quickly our optimism diminished.... the tub was gross. All of the grout around the tub had huge gaps and cracks where the grout was falling off into the tub. The toiletries were minimal. The shower had a shampoo and conditioner bottle attached to the wall, but no body soap and nothing to bathe in the tub with. I didn't bring toiletries, assuming these would be provided, so unfortunately I wasn't even able to utilize my upgrade. This was actually the least of my worries. We went to to pull out the sofa bed for my kids.... absolutely disgusting! There were huge yellow stains all over the mattress that looked like urine. Not even sure how this passed housekeeping standards. Photos attached. The room had a nasty smell, stains in the carpets and on the sofa, and overall just disgusting. The final straw was when I walked my small dachshund (registered service animal) downstairs to exit the lobby. I had my hands full of personal items, so my son was walking him on a leash. As we exited the lobby, there was a few guests downstairs, and my service animal barked a bit as we walked by. Nothing aggressive or unruley whatsoever! Simply a bark. My son was able to control him, and there was nothing to be concerned about. He wasnt pulling on the leash or charging at anyone, simply walking with my son towards the exit as he excitedly expressed a bark. The lobby agent rudely yelled "maam!! You cant have your dog in here!" I had my hands full and told her that id be right back to speak with her, and she continued to yell, "you cant have your dog in here! Whats your room number!!" At this point, is was offended by her actions and decided that I would take a few minutes to calm down rather than walk back inside. So, after about 20 minutes I called the front desk. I asked her how I would go about requesting a refund on my room, since we still had reservations through tomorrow. She rudely asked why and asked for my room number. I then told her I was the lady with the service animal, and that she rudely discriminated against me instead of asking the proper questions to determine IF my dog was a properly trained animal. Instead, she got extremely defensive and lied, telling me that my dog charged at the person in the lobby, and that there's no way my dog could ever be a service animal... um, no. This isn't how it works lady. You don't get to assume my dog isn't qualified. Nor do you have the right to lie and say my dog is aggressive when he clearly wasn't. She then said she has cameras, and I said great! I'd love to show your manager the footage to prove you wrong. What's your name? ... crickets..... okay, let me speak to your manager.... she hangs up. So, I call back. I instantly get an attitude, and am told that she's the front desk manager now. Okay, awesome! What's your name so that I can tell priceline who i spoke with to get a refund due to discrimination, unprofessional staff, and disgusting rooms... she refuses. Okay, what's your managers name? I need to speak with someone that can provide me with a name, someone who has the professional capabilities to speak with a concerned customer... again, hangs up. This is absolutely unacceptable!!! I have full documentation showing my animal is a fully trained service animal. My son is a diabetic, and my 3 year old dachshund has been through rigorous training to be a diabetic detection animal, that can show signs of alert when my son's blood sugar is at a risky level. Per law, I do not have to go into detail of my son's condition, nor do I need to show documentation, but this woman was completely unprofessional and discriminatory, and ive pursued a claim with corporate. I really hope she loses her job because I will NEVER stay at a choice hotel again
