What a great trip to escape the Phoenix heat! The chilly air at night was such a nice change of pace and allowed us to open all the windows just after sunset. Lots of wildlife to see and be aware of, heads up for cows when you are driving. The fridge was a bit bigger than I had anticipated, and we packed appropriately so we could eat without a kitchen. I loved that we were able to take our dogs with us, big bonus. I think this can pass for glamping. read more

This place is a mixed bag of tricks. Pro's: * The cabins are cute and the area is quiet at night * We saw several deer close by * The cabin was clean * The bed and pillows were nice Con's: * Ventilation. We arrived in hot weather and the upstairs loft bedroom was crazy hot. The air conditioner will blast in the livingroom area but we had to drag floor fans to get cool air to the ground floor bedroom. * Kitchen supplies. While a microwave, small fridge/freezer, Keurig, pods & disposable cups & sugar packets etc were available..... there were ZERO utensils to stir your coffee. The flyer on the table says to please wash the dishes before leaving. Problem is, there ARE no dishes provided. There is salt and pepper....but not sure why. So if you want to make your own meals while you're there you have to bring everything. Staff did provide cutlery upon request. * The toilet paper is crappy 1 ply and there are no kleenexes available (per the response from the staff) * TV buffered a lot, but we weren't really there to watch TV. Overall, it would be helpful if it was clear what is provided and what is not. Might be more pleasant in cooler weather. read more

Stayed here for a wedding in October. To be fair, I expected what we got. Primitive cabin. No luxury items. Bed was good. Property was clean. Cabins are clean, but simple and older touches. We ate on outside patio of restaurant. Good food. The staff and management was amazing and friendly. Offering to drive the seniors in our party to the wedding site that was on the higher elevations of the property. read more

Stayed here at cabin #11 with some friends. It was okay but very old style, like we didn't know how to lock the bathroom doors or open them cause it was a old lock. The place is big just wish there were more beds and comfy ones. Like the bunk beds could be twin beds instead. There was a pull out couch and also there was a couch as well. 3 rooms had actual beds and 1 room had 3 bunk beds. The bunk beds were super thin. Like you can feel the springs. Maybe if I stayed in an actual normal size bed I would give it another star but idk. Everyone said they slept okay. Someone woke up to a spider crawling up their leg in the middle of the night. There 2 bathrooms, wish there was more. They have a walk in shower. I'm 5'11 and the shower were the water came from was not tall enough. Needs to be higher. The place had a balcony. There's a restaurant across the street and it was okay. But most places here is okay. read more

Cute and cozy cabins. There are a lot of on property activities such as corn hole, swings, hammocks and fire pits. The bathrooms, although a bit outdated, are clean. The only downsides are the very small kitchenette could use some utensils maybe and the cabins inside not being small child friendly. The stair railings are very spaced apart and my toddler could definitely fit through them and fall. Also the furniture in the loft is pushed against the loft wall and if a small child happens to stand on it, could easily topple off. I would return when my children are older and understand the dangers but until then we are unable to. read more

There was not much seating in the living room and what there was was old and small. Couldn't open a window. Scene out the front door was the caretakers cabin. Really picturesque. And the fact I caught a terrible viral disease there and had to go home early. Sanitary conditions??? Beer was good, but had the sickest looking nachos. Other items looked better. read more

My wife and I got married at Cabins at Creekside in June of 2023. The experience was amazing. we're so glad that we chose Creekside. From the beginning of our first tour, we loved Justin. He was so down to earth and friendly. He made sure we had all the information we needed to make an informed decision. On the day of the wedding, things went perfectly! Janet helped us to coordinate the event and made sure that all the details were in place. We had a delicious smoked meats dinner that the chef knocked out of the park! The table settings were beautiful. The staff did an amazing job on the setup. Justin made sure that all of the guests were comfortable and taken care of. One more exceptional staff member who needs a shout out was Josh. He was so kind, friendly, accommodating and professional. Josh and Justin went above and beyond to ensure that everyone had a great experience. From giving tours, to taking pictures, to recommending local hikes, giving rides to elderly family members, providing a complimentary breakfast, telling the history of the cabins, ensuring warm hospitality, and so much more, these guys took great care of everyone. Justin, Josh and Janet were the dream team! Our guests stayed in cabins that were very cozy and had a real northwoods feel to them. My wife and I got to stay in the nicest camper I've ever been in! It was huge inside and felt like an apartment. The food at the tavern was delicious! We loved the pizza and burgers. One of the best aspects of the wedding was the setting. Nestled into a ponderosa forest, the venue had a peaceful and natural feeling. Our guests felt at relaxed, and were able to experience the unique climate of Cristopher Creek. Right before the wedding ceremony started, one of the most magical moments took place. As our guests were being seated, an elk with two calves emerged from the forest. Our guests were awestruck as this majestic creature walked through the wedding site just moments before the ceremony. The site was perfectly decorated enough to be classy, yet minimalistic. The staff set up a beautiful! My wife was so appreciative for Josh during the set up. He checked in and made sure that everything was taken care of perfectly, so that we could focus on enjoying the day. He has an eye for detail and did a wonderful job ensuring that everything was perfect. My personal favorite part of the wedding experience at Creekside was the people. The setting gave us a chance to connect deeply with our loved ones through hiking, bonfires, and enjoying God's beauty outside. It meant so much that Justin and Josh shared so deeply in our joy that weekend! I can't say enough great things about these two gentlemen. They treated us like family. I would highly recommend hosting a wedding at Creekside for the combination of caring staff, beautiful setting, great value and cozy accommodations. read more

We were up here with friends. Each got cabins and stayed 1 night. My friends husband couldn't fit in the bathroom because he's 6'2. We got the deluxe cabin and I had the same issue and I'm only 5'10. Not one thing matched! Not even the flat pillows matched the saggy bed with wicked spring jabbing us all night. The 2 rooms/cabins were far from the nice pictures posted. It's a Big bummer because it could be such a great destination. read more

I have stayed in the Pony Express rooms, Cabin 10, and and the Bunk Trailside rooms. They are all well worth what you pay (hint: hotel rooms in Payson are more expensive). The view is fantastic. Just a great place to come and relax. The cabins are closest to the Creek. Wonderful to wake up and open the door and listen to the bubbling Creek. Or from anywhere just sit and listen to the sounds of the forest. There are picnic tables, and charcoal bbq grills (except at the Pony Express) and more tables and both charcoal and propane bbq grills in a common area. read more

Such a cozy cabin fit my family of 4 perfect! The site offers free firewood and propane grills for use which was a greatly appreciated. While making dinner one evening a Elk came walking on up! We had a nice 3-night stay in Bear's Den, Cabin #3. They make check-in and -out very easy. The cabin was cute, decorated with an 'up north' theme. It was well equipped and while I am sometimes uneasy when staying away from home, especially in less expensive places, I felt comfortable here. Manager Ingrid was very responsive when we had an issue with the mini fridge, and had it handled within minutes. We appreciated the proximity to the tavern a few steps away, which was quiet while we were there. We will go again. read more

We recently stayed in the Old Glory Cabin for 3 nights & we really enjoyed it. So torn on the rating...want to give it 4 stars but we had so many problems & we go away to get away from our problems so if I could give it 3.75 that's how it would fall in line with other accomodations we've had & how I've rated them. Positives: Nice cabins, very clean & no bugs in spite of being in the woods, beautiful decks with rocking chairs for sitting outside, picnic table & grill for each cabin, outdoor fire pit, hammocks, very quiet & peaceful, good hot water pressure & bathroom was very nice & most up to date. There are multiple heaters in every room, nice big screen tv, good size refrigerator, along with a Keurig. It was really nice having a tavern on the premises, but not the greatest food. Negatives: It was very difficult to make a change to the reservation once it was made & a few days before we arrived & had already paid, it was cancelled (which they did immediately notify me about to correct the error). The WiFi never worked the entire stay. It would come on briefly for a few minutes then was not found again & took forever to figure out how to use the tv with no details provided on how to access it & get it up & running. Once we got it on, we just left it on the entire stay so as not to go through figuring it out again. The sofa & beds were very soft & outdated, not all lights were working. Coffee was provided but no coffee cups to actually make some & a sign indicated water was for sale on the shelf, but none left. If this was all, I would have still given it 4 stars, but on our last night there, the water was shut off (sinks, toilet, shower) at 10pm & did not come on again until the next morning. I did not report this at the time thinking it was too late & we were headed to bed anyway. I'm just glad it was on again when we woke up in the morning. Overall we enjoyed our stay & would come again. I absolutely love the concept of having the tavern with cabins in the back. The cabins are so cute & could just use a little updating, particularly with the mattresses & sofas. The tavern needs some better food, but if you order the right thing, it's not bad. Creekside is a very nice place to stay & we found their location to be great for everything we wanted to do. read more

Set in the beautiful pines near the Mogollon Rim, AZ It's no contact, you receive a door code via text. Good restaurant next door and another one just down the street, beautiful outside patio seating. Good food, full bar. It was nice and quiet. Pets welcome, for a fee. read more

We needed to get out of the desert & my wife's not a tent camper. We took our three girls & rented the Bear's Den #3 for two nights in late May 2020. I like Christopher Creek. I've camped there several times. So trying to cabin. Let's see.... it's pretty good. Here are a few things. 1. Due to COVID the restaurant on site is closed. There's general store maybe 1/3 mile away that has food like burritos that we didn't try. There is the Landmark Tavern restaurant that we ate at. We socially distanced on the patio and it was yummy but hella slow. They're not open Mon & Tues. 2. The cabin is cute. Upstairs has three beds (you can fit 4 up there) But it's HOT. Very hot up there in the summer. They have a fan you can run but it's loud. It wasn't too bad. The girls got over it. 3. The cabin was cute. Ingrid runs things and she was cool. Some other lady was there, too, and she was personable. 4. There's a 3mile ish loop hike nearby called Spring Trail. It was a good hike for a few hours. What didn't I like? Not much. The cabins are close together. If you wanted spread out, they're not. They're close together. Not a huge deal. There's also nothing to do on property outside the cabin except swing in the swing, grill on the community grill, or have a fire outside if it's chilly. We did photograph some stars & saw deer come through in the dark. That was cool. They made it sound like you can just chill at the creek when booking. Yeah, so that. If you wanna go to the creek, you park at the restaurant down the road, walk behind it, walk down the hill, and you try to keep away from private property. So there's that. This is what they nice lady told me. Different than the description where it seems like the creek runs right near the cabin on the property. I had a nice time. So did the wife. read more

Pros I liked the rustic feel and look of the cabin It was pretty clean Check-in was a breeze Our Keurig wasn't working and it was immediately replaced Great location for exploring the nearby lakes and creeks Nice to be in a secluded location Nice gas fire pit and grill area with seating Cons I thought I read "fully equipped kitchen", but I must have been mistaken because there was only a microwave and mini fridge. So plan accordingly for meals, because there are very few places to get food and no grocery stores nearby. I also booked here because we had visited the restaurant on-site awhile back and I didn't want to have to worry about food. Well, the restaurant has very limited hours. We showed up too late the first night because they close at 7. So the following evening we rushed back from the lake to make it in time to order food to go, and when got out of the car and an employee is yelling out to the parking lot that they're closed (at 6:38) and it's her daughter's birthday and she's going home. So, yet again, we either had to drive back to town or go hungry. On arrival, our place was nice and clean, but it was stuffy and kind of smelled like dirty feet. I really wanted to enjoy the fresh air, but there are no screens on the windows and lots of flying bugs and bees. There are fans and a small ac unit in the living area, but the loft area can get a little stuffy. The couch and chairs are kind of dirty and one chair had a huge rip in the seat. One reason I choose to pay hotel price instead of camping is for a nice, hot shower after a long day out doors. The shower was mediocre. Lukewarm at times and weak water pressure. There isn't really a feel of privacy. It's nice that there are 2 decks, but the back deck has no seating. When I woke up in the loft and opened my window from bed each morning, the people behind us were staring at me. It's called Creekside, but the creek is across the street and wasn't even a trickle. Overall we did enjoy our stay and would stay again, but next time we would be more prepared meal-wise. read more

Had such relaxing weekend getaway! We were able to bring both our dogs and they loved it too. We stayed in cabin #1 hunters bind and it was so spacious with such a cozy feel. We got food Togo from the restaurant, our dogs don't like to sit still at restaurants, and since our cabin was right by the outdoor patio we were still able to enjoy the live music they had while eating dinner on our patio! We took the pups on Horton tail which was a quick drive away on Saturday! read more

Extremely disappointed. We booked our company Christmas party here on 10/8 and I received an email and text confirmation. Last week I called to confirm and was told we didn't have a reservation that the manager had quit. I run a company too and if my manager quits it doesn't effect my customers who have booked services. Needless to say I was left last minute scrambling to find a place for our company party. Not happy and will not recommend this place or ever book again. Poor customer service. read more

My family and I came up to enjoy a nice respite from the brown landscape of Phoenix. We really loved he camp-like. We stayed in a room in the small lots of rooms there. The room had a stairway that went up to the second floor which had two beds. It was neat for the kids to stay up there. The place was clean as well. It's a really quaint setting among the trees. We rented a fifth wheel trailer (Glamper #10) for a few days for a little get away/work away from home and it was better than expected! I think every vacation is heavily based on service and the staff here was above par! Justin the GM was friendly and more than accommodating. He had a great attitude about loving his job and was always Johnny on the spot with handling all our needs. Jeremy was so kind and helpful with extra propane and firewood. We didn't catch her name but we had coffee pods delivered late in the evening because we forgot to request them earlier and she was so friendly! Then there's the Tavern. I was concerned with being right next to the restaurant with an awesome patio and fire pit but it was very quiet (patio was on the opposite side of our spot). We had dinner there on our last night and the service was impeccable! Gloria was so attentive and communicative; seriously the best service I've had in months! She had a great attitude and a smile to go with it! And the food! It's an old tavern but the food they are pumping out was incredible! A friend joined us - she had the rack of ribs, my wife had the thick pork chop dinner platter and I had the shrimp tacos! We enjoyed fresh salads and ordered extra of the fresh hot ciabatta bread too! Everything was phenomenal! This is a great little place to stay with a great staff, great accommodations, great food and access to some amazing hikes just minutes away!! Highly recommend! We'll be back! read more

Creekside Cabins is a wonderful lodge in Christopher Creek, AZ just outside of Payson. This property is under new ownership and has a very warm and welcome vibe. We stayed in cabin #1 and slept very comfortably. Although there was no kitchenette there was a Keurig machine and mini-fridge and we were right to next time the the tavern where we had wonderful dinner and stayed for some after dinner drinks at the tavern where we met some really fun locals. My favorite part was meeting the lodge manager Ingrid. She was so helpful and super funny. She even personally walked us down to the creek before we had s'mores by the firepit. We can't wait to go back. Close to Woods Canyon lake, Mogollon Rim and Payson, it's a perfect rim country getaway. 5 Stars!!! read more

It has been about 10 days since we checked out, so I think I'm more calm now. My wife and I wanted a quiet weekend with other family for one night. We stayed in cabin #7 called "Seventh Heaven", but it became "Seventh Hell". First, we asked for a cabin on the creek (Christopher), but got a cabin across the road and maybe 2 blocks away from the creek. Second, the TV could not get any of the Dish TV channels because the bill was not paid. This was resolved after about an hour. Third, several of the knives, forks and spoons were not clean and we had to vacuum the carpet. Fourth, the bottom of the freezer had a layer of ice, plus it appeared that some freezer shelves were missing. Fifth, it was a week after we left before the general manager would adjust our bill for the money owed us. And sixth, one member of my son's family arrived back home with severe bed bug bites (per her doctor). A second member had less severe bites that appeared a couple days later. Additionally, the steak house adjacent to this property did not have or serve some of the items on the menu. In short we will not go back to Cabin at Creekside, nor can we recommend it. read more

This is my first time is the Payson area and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised at how nice and cozy this establishment is. The food was just as excellent as the people serving you. If you were to go get some food I'd suggest the filet mignon tacos they were top notch delicious and the beer was cold also the shirt walk from the cabin we were staying at was a plus when being drunk and trying to walk back. 10 out of 10 would go back again. read more
