Very shabby, unmaintained. There is no pride of ownership or care for their guest's comfort. The furniture is beat up and could use paint. Paint is coming off our bathroom wall in large chunks. Again, have you heard of paint? Two lamps in our double room, and one is burned out. The security chain on the door is broken off. The floor had big splotches of something dripped on it, it hadn't been cleaned. Vending machines are empty. Outside of stucco building very dirty, as are sidewalks- water does wonders for that. Eventually everything is going to fall apart. It costs more to replace things than maintain them. The customer is not their priority. Pay a few dollars more for a room where you matter. read more

This place should not be in business. It's disgusting. Our vehicle broke down, so we were stuck in Payson overnight on a Saturday night. The first room they checked us into had not been cleaned at all, beds not made, towels all over at the sink area. So we asked for a different room. At first it seemed like the room had been serviced, but as we settled in, it was clear it had also probably not been cleaned...makeup stains on pillows, hair on the sheets, only one washcloth in the bathroom, towels not folded properly, just to name a few things! Then we opened the dresser drawers and found a package of hot links from the previous guest. The second drawer had an empty cake or pastry box of some sort. Just unbelievable. The housekeeping clearly doesn't pay attention to details. The front desk guy did bring fresh sheets when we requested them. When we told him that it seemed like one of the bed linens hadn't been changed, he joked it off saying "it's a Rim Country adventure." Yikes. We're all for adventure, but when it comes to hotel rooms, it's a reasonable expectation to have a clean room. We will definitely never stay at this Super 8 again, and consider yourself forewarned as well! read more

I am making this a five star review to make up for the idiots that gave this a three star review after being upgraded for free to a suite and then complaining about the hot tub not working. You wouldn't of even had those items if they didn't upgrade your sweet for free to a size 4 times larger! I'm basically going to level the playing field because at the end of the day this is an amazing hotel for the price. Having said that they don't really deserve a five star review they probably deserve a for here the things that they can fix genuinely be a five-star hotel for what they are offering. First of all you cannot judge hotel like this as you can place like The Phoenician, or the Hyatt at Gainey ranch. Instead, it's more appropriate to judge it on the other hotels in the area which are pretty terrible. Number one they upgraded us to a suite. Because we were here for three days mostly to do business and work as our Phoenix AirBNB was rented at a high price, no the Jacuzzi did not work no the fireplace did not work but I got 3 to 4 times the size of a room that I should have for what I paid. It did upset me that the Jacuzzi outside wasn't working because that is however advertised. And someone that requires hydrotherapy nightly I only select hotels that have Jacuzzis. My mother lives in town says her gas also said it was not working when they came last, ahwile back. Needs to be repaired. The second reason we chose this place over the others is that they advertised free breakfast included. The first morning was atrocious we complained quite a bit after that they fixed it up but the place was very dirty empty of food I am attaching photos. I think it is crucial to and sure the brand super eight across the nation and they do offer a specific type of breakfast so I think that it's important to make sure that you are aligned with what super eight is offering nationally. And there was no excuse for all of the tables being filthy when there was only one couple dining even when we walked in no one moved to clean the tables I started to clean one myself. (this was Friday morning if anyone wants to know who was on duty that morning, Saturday and Sunday mornings everything was done really well) Next, I ask if I can purchase water or if there is filtered water in the breakfast bar area. There is no filtered water in the breakfast bar area and you need to have cash to purchase water which means you have no partible water to drink because Arizona water is not drinkable because of the high mineral content. This is something that needs to be resolved you either have water for us to purchase or provide a filtered water source in the breakfast bar area. After I told her these things she then offered me two bottles of water at this point I went to the store and bought a case for 3.50. If you are looking for luxury keep looking but if you are looking for great value close to the center of town this is your place. The pillows were so giant that I had to go to my mothers to get a flat when I could sleep with but that is personal preference and the mattress was a seven out of 10 which is pretty high for a place like this. Great hot water. The carpets need to be replaced but they tell me they are in the middle of a remodel we will be coming back so it will be great to update this review. read more

We called to see if we could check in about an hour early and was told we could check in anytime. We drove over to the hotel and checked in and then was told if the door to our room was open they were still working on it and we would have to wait till it was cleaned, It was clean by normal check in time. The room was standard and clean. We went down the next morning and a truck full of barking dogs were parked at the end of the stairs and the windows were down and the dogs were barking like crazy. The truck was there all morning. We went for breakfast at 745 and there was nothing left. We asked the front end person if we could get some waffle mix made and he said he would make some. He went on to have a 10 minute gossip fest with the employee that was leaving then came over to make the waffle mix without washing his hands. The food area was dirty, the trash was overflowing and like I said almost nothing left for breakfast. read more

Well after being booted out of Majestic Mountain because they accepted our reservation for two nights but could only accomodate one, this ended up being where we were pushed to. The room was fairly clean , had a larger refrigerator, a whirpool tub ( filters needed to be cleaned!) Shower also needed to be cleaned better. Overall quiet and not too bad. Only complaint is that 'non smoking rooms" are actually converted from smoking rooms so if you have asthma or reactive airway disease you might want to take note of this. We could not book anywhere else due to the last min booting out from Majestic Mountain Inn so we had to stay no matter what or return to phoenix. This resulted in my taking my asthma medications just to be able to stay there without getting sick. I am extreamly sensitive to smoke etc.....so even converted rooms are an issue for me and not necessarily the fault of Super 8. Jaccuzzi worked well but we noted that it needed to be cleaned a lot better than what it was. Bed was more comfy than Majestic Mountain. read more

A huge beautiful room but we were unable to bask in all the amenities only because they were in need of repair. I would stay here again as long as the owner checked me in. Reserved a room here, last minute as we were passing through Arizona. The room was huge for the rate. They did offer a Continental breakfast (even during covid!). The room was clean, bed was very comfortable which should be the norm, unfortunately is not compared to other places I've stayed. The only unfortunate experience we had, was the desk clerk at check in mistakenly kept my husband's drivers license and did not bring it to our room or call us while we were there. My husband didn't realize it was not given back to him either. Needless to say, we continued on our journey without his license unknowingly. It wasn't until our next stop that he became aware of his missing license and called the hotel. My husband spoke with Miss Julie Miller who graciously went out of her way to actually look into the missing license and found it..... Right away! Then offered to mail it to our home immediately. Did not request a self addressed envelope to be mailed to them first. Miss Miller displayed excellent customer service, and customer care and for THAT reason, I give HER a score of 5 stars. The hotel gets 4 stars. They need to emphasize to ALL of their employees and management staff the importance of excellent customer service will ALWAYS bring customers back! read more

It's better than sleeping in a car. Nothing special to see here. There is a building under construction next door so be prepared to be awaken by that. It is very loud. Room is clean I will say that. Blinds had holes in them. Thin blankets and flat pillows. The complex is dirty with cigarette butts all over. I wish smokers could stay in their own filth somewhere else. Pool looked very nice. I will simply get to the point. I recently had an overnight stay at Super 8 Wyndham Payson; a hotel I had chosen and recommended many times over the last 3 years. I was a resident of Payson for six years, and after moving to another town, I continue to make two trips a week there on business. I never had an issue until this last stay. Imagine my surprise when eight hours after check out, and long on the road back home, I received a phone call from the manager in which I was informed that the housekeeper reported the room I stayed in was missing a waste basket, and a one cup coffee maker, both used hundreds of times I am sure. She was informing me that I was going to be charged an extra 35.00 to replace them. Basically I was accused of being a thief. My response was why would I or any right-minded person want to steal such cheap and worn items. Items I certainly had no need of. The manager would not listen to logic and told me she was accepting the word of the housekeeper. I called and filed a complaint to the Super 8 "customer care" department and received an email response telling me that since I signed the for the room when I first checked in, under their terms and conditions, I am became responsible for any items missing, broken, etc. I suppose since that is their practice, they figured they might as well accuse me being a thief while they were at it. I am beginning to wonder if this is their way of pocketing some extra money. Needless to say I will never darken their door again, and no longer will I recommend this facility. I have stayed in many hotels and motels in my years of traveling and have never been treated like this. It's not about the money so much as the principle and the false accusations. I am a helicopter pilot with the forest fire crews. We had a booking with this hotel that got changed due to a forest fire where homes were threatened. The hotel clerk and the manager were extremely combative. The clerk said this is why we never book hotels with firefighters. He said he was so mad that he "was about to blow a gasket and spit blood" the clerk transferred me to the manager. The manager said if we canceled the rooms for the night we would lose our reservations for the next three days. I told him to go ahead and cancel. I wouldn't want to sleep in a place with people who were so unwelcoming. read more

Pleasantly surprised. Clean, quiet, comfortable. Maybe I'm easy to please, but I will be back. Breakfast at the 260 about 100 yars away made this a nicer stay. Really good tv and wi fi was adequate, maybe because not a lot of people were here this week. Also the 32" tv has a HDMI port. Wish I had known I could have brought dvds from home, oh well next time. Worst experience of my life. Ive stayed at dumpier hotels and still received better service. Electricity went out in the whole building. No back up generator/lights/air condition.. Nothing. Manager said there will be no refunds.. we had to sleep with the hotel door open for air. Had other people and their kids going in and out of our room. Electricity was out 9pm-4:45am.. They did nothing to make anything right. Not even an apology. All the other hotels in town were booked so couldn't even stay anywhere else. I have a baby and 2 dogs that were with me. When I tried to talk to manager he walked away from me. Even the lady at the front desk ignored me. We came up to Payson for Thanksgiving weekend and got a room here. WE LOVE IT!! We got a discount booking for 2 nights instead of one so we decided to stay 2 nights! We arrived before 3pm and were able to check in early :) The staff is friendly and helped us find a fantastic Thai restaurant Ayothaya Thai Cafe which we will visit every time we come to Payson! The rooms are VERY CLEAN and nicely decorated. They have a decent continental breakfast with coffee all day long until 10pm, which tastes great too! We will not stay anywhere else when we need a weekend getaway from Phoenix and head up to Payson! :) read more

If I could leave zero stars, I would. My husband was on his way home and starting feeling ill, so he checked in here about 2 pm today. He called me from here at 2:15 pm and 2:30 pm. I called at 6:11 pm to check on him and was told there was no one by his name there. I then checked our bank account to make sure I had the correct place...sure enough, I did. I called back and spoke to another man and it's hard to believe, but he was ruder than the first guy. I spelled our name, even gave him our car's license plate and description. He said "Lady, if you want to go this route, you might as well call the poll-ese! I was so worried and angry. I figured if he's not there, no since paying for the room and called our bank and disputed the charge. I waited a few minutes and called the motel back. By now, this guy's shouting at me - he said "lady, I don't care if his name is "wascley wabbit", he ain't here". I said "then you're not getting paid. I've stopped payment". Said good bye and hung up. My husband called me not 10 minutes later, saying this guy was pounding on the door, waking him up. Told him I was raising a "ruckus". Sure found my sick husband quickly when I stopped payment. I explained what had happened and he backed me up. A maid was standing there and told my husband how rudely the front desk guy(s) talked to me. Whatever you do, don't stay here! The room was nice, but the front desk staff is horrible! read more

Bad manager, horrible service, terrible room,. I am exhausted from not sleeping, the smoke alarm went off every hour increasing the beeps every hour until I checked out at 4 am. The new front desk girl, had only AA Batteries and no one to call to help her. She did not offer us another room just shrugged her shoulders without an apology just an excuse "She's new". Made reservations, for 5 days, 3 weeks in advance because of scheduled events in the area the week we would be there. Man taking the reservations asked if we wanted a smoking or non-smoking room. I told him we wanted a bottom floor, non-smoking room. "Done!" he tells me and we complete the reservation process. When we arrived the lady at the desk was less than friendly (acted like she didn't want to be there) and told us what room we were given. We said we reserved a first floor non-smoking room. Her reply was "no, that's the only room available. We're full" We enter the room and it was musty, damp and had a nasty stale cigarette smoke smell. When we mentioned that to the desk lady she stated "all the rooms are non-smoking. Customers smoke anyways and we can't get all the smell out". We went to get something to eat and upon our return we noticed a strong smell of a spray air freshener. The lady initially said that no one can get into the room but a little later said she tried to help get rid of the smoke odor and it doesn't smell from smoke anymore. That didn't get rid of the smoke - it just added another obvious attempt to cover it up. The next day we noticed that our room and 4 others were the only ones that DID NOT have non-smoking signs on the outside of the door. The continental breakfast consisted of a few of each of the following: small bagels, English muffins and bread. Along with make-our-own waffles and Frosted Flakes and Raisin Bran cereal. When any or all were gone breakfast was done. The overall property is in serious need of repairs and upkeep - from worn out carpeting to personnel that want to be there. In addition, we recommend that you count the number of towels, etc., each day to be sure you're not charged for missing ones. We got a white washcloth one day that was so stained that it was actually beige in color. Would look elsewhere for a room - it will be worth your time. read more

HORRIBLE!!!! We tried to cancel our reservation (due to family emergency) two days before arriving (their policy only requires 24 hours) and the "manager" Bethany said she would give us a call back. No call back, big surprise right? So since she wouldn't cancel it, we still showed up. My husband went in to check in and she was upset that we were there. Then she was questioning him about why we were there....Uhm you wouldn't let us cancel and you were going to charge us anyways, so why wouldn't we? Come to find out, she over booked and planned on making double the money for our suite. Then she started to talk trash about me, saying I was a liar, and using very rude words, talking directly to my husband. So after 20 minutes of her going on and on saying we shouldn't be there, we finally got out room. Once my husband told me this, I went in to the office. I told her I did not understand why she was so rude about the situation and why she said what she did, also that our family situation was none of her business. She raised her voice, calling me every name in the book. What kind of manager acts like that?!?! I just walked out, and went up to the room. The room appeared nice but when I was about to put food in the fridge, I saw a big opened bag of string cheese left from the last guest or the guest from 6 months ago, judging on the expiration date. The expiration date was from 5 months ago. Clearly, the maids didn't even check the fridge... So I grabbed the bag and went down to the office again. I put them on the counter and once again the so called manager Bethany glared at me and asked what I wanted. Not "how can I help you" no, it was a "uhh what do you want now? you keep bugging me!" All of this happened on camera as well as in front of another guest waiting to check in. I showed her the expiration date and asked why they were in the fridge in our room. She said they were never there and that I planted them there to make her look bad... Uh, why would I carry around a bag of rotten cheese sticks?! Crazy lady, what a crazy crazy lady. Then she got loud again and said since I was such a bother, she would refund us our money and we could leave. I said okay, I need that in writing. She then got mad and said, "NO!!!! GET THE F*** OUT NOW, I'M CALLING THE POLICE ON YOU B****!" Really? She was completely out of line. Then the owner came in and I told him what happened. He said, "Oh she is just having a bad day, no big deal" Are you kidding me? I'm over paying on a suite already and this is the service I get?! NO! He said, "You don't get a refund, I am sorry for her actions.." then she screamed, "F*** all of you!" and walked out. This was totally bizarre and I could not believe this was happening. How were they still in business?! Also, the pool looked okay except for the fact that the hot tub was a nasty green color. Anyways, he said we could check out late for free. Of course, I didn't believe them. I just went up to my room, tried to sleep (horrible bed, dirty sheets) and I got up at 7 a.m. I didn't even take a shower, I just wanted out of there. Worst way to spend $100. The bathroom was dirty as well. Also, they have tons of warnings and papers all of the room saying they charge you for stained towels or missing towels. Also if the blanket is missing, you pay $350! Not that I would take any of this but really? that is insane! They put all these warnings and papers everywhere yet they can't even leave a take out menu or a phone book in there? When we checked out, it was some 14 year old kid at the desk. We even took a video of the room and checking out because we didn't want them to charge us for no reason. I will not return and I don't advise anyone to ever stay there! Also, when we got to our room, the pillows were thrown all over the floor like someone ransacked the place. read more

I had a family event in Pine, it was during a busier weekend so this was one of the only places available to stay. I requested a Handicap room while booking my stay. When I got to the hotel the agent told me "we don't have any." Not that there weren't any available at the time, but "we don't have any." Not only is it against the law, but it is against ADA compliance. I just recently had surgery on a broken femur and my wheelchair was not able to fit into the bathroom door. Like stated, that is against the law. The hotel itself is old, it needs a renovation. The bathroom tub was coming apart from the wall and you could see it. Cleanliness of the room was what is to be expected for that property. It wasn't the worst I have stayed at, however I wouldn't suggest it to anyone due to the non ADA compliance. Also, if you do have ADA rooms you might want to train your employees on how to properly talk to guests. read more
