This place was not worth the money whatsoever. When we first checked in, I let the front desk agent know that we had a service dog with us. No questions asked, she simply said okay. I had a really rough week, and so I booked a more expensive suite with a jacuzzi tub in it. Upon entering the room, we were impressed with the size, but quickly our optimism diminished.... the tub was gross. All of the grout around the tub had huge gaps and cracks where the grout was falling off into the tub. The toiletries were minimal. The shower had a shampoo and conditioner bottle attached to the wall, but no body soap and nothing to bathe in the tub with. I didn't bring toiletries, assuming these would be provided, so unfortunately I wasn't even able to utilize my upgrade. This was actually the least of my worries. We went to to pull out the sofa bed for my kids.... absolutely disgusting! There were huge yellow stains all over the mattress that looked like urine. Not even sure how this passed housekeeping standards. Photos attached. The room had a nasty smell, stains in the carpets and on the sofa, and overall just disgusting. The final straw was when I walked my small dachshund (registered service animal) downstairs to exit the lobby. I had my hands full of personal items, so my son was walking him on a leash. As we exited the lobby, there was a few guests downstairs, and my service animal barked a bit as we walked by. Nothing aggressive or unruley whatsoever! Simply a bark. My son was able to control him, and there was nothing to be concerned about. He wasnt pulling on the leash or charging at anyone, simply walking with my son towards the exit as he excitedly expressed a bark. The lobby agent rudely yelled "maam!! You cant have your dog in here!" I had my hands full and told her that id be right back to speak with her, and she continued to yell, "you cant have your dog in here! Whats your room number!!" At this point, is was offended by her actions and decided that I would take a few minutes to calm down rather than walk back inside. So, after about 20 minutes I called the front desk. I asked her how I would go about requesting a refund on my room, since we still had reservations through tomorrow. She rudely asked why and asked for my room number. I then told her I was the lady with the service animal, and that she rudely discriminated against me instead of asking the proper questions to determine IF my dog was a properly trained animal. Instead, she got extremely defensive and lied, telling me that my dog charged at the person in the lobby, and that there's no way my dog could ever be a service animal... um, no. This isn't how it works lady. You don't get to assume my dog isn't qualified. Nor do you have the right to lie and say my dog is aggressive when he clearly wasn't. She then said she has cameras, and I said great! I'd love to show your manager the footage to prove you wrong. What's your name? ... crickets..... okay, let me speak to your manager.... she hangs up. So, I call back. I instantly get an attitude, and am told that she's the front desk manager now. Okay, awesome! What's your name so that I can tell priceline who i spoke with to get a refund due to discrimination, unprofessional staff, and disgusting rooms... she refuses. Okay, what's your managers name? I need to speak with someone that can provide me with a name, someone who has the professional capabilities to speak with a concerned customer... again, hangs up. This is absolutely unacceptable!!! I have full documentation showing my animal is a fully trained service animal. My son is a diabetic, and my 3 year old dachshund has been through rigorous training to be a diabetic detection animal, that can show signs of alert when my son's blood sugar is at a risky level. Per law, I do not have to go into detail of my son's condition, nor do I need to show documentation, but this woman was completely unprofessional and discriminatory, and ive pursued a claim with corporate. I really hope she loses her job because I will NEVER stay at a choice hotel again read more

Bedbugs. They have bed bugs, dirty beds, and great customer service. I had an issue with my first room's sheets having crumbs and hair in them. I asked for a change of sheets but was given another room instead. No problem. I get to the next room and as I usually do I turn down the sheets and check for bedbugs. Nothing, but I see a lot of crumbs and hair again so again I ask for new sheets. Housekeeping comes in to see what it is that I'm seeing so she can take care of it. I pull the bed back out but it comes out a bit further this time and what do I see... a BEDBUG! Got full refund but had drive back home as it was the second place I had already been that had bedbugs. First was quality inn. They were rude at quality inn and said we're in the woods you're gonna find bugs. read more

Our stay was unfortunately to visit a sick friend. We wanted to stay elsewhere, but apparently there was a softball convention and a high school rodeo in town. Crazy for a pandemic! The rate for one night was crazy for a Comfort Inn - $159! Booking online was easy, though I did so reluctantly. After all, they did have a full breakfast and we would save on having to go out...right? We check in in the evening, and noticed that no staff nor guests are wearing masks. We are not given directions to our room and I have to ask. We were not given a Wi-Fi password. We find our room, and luckily it is clean and neat. The mattress was a little too firm for my liking, but Mr P said he slept well. I observed that there were no cleaning notices or any insignia that remotes or other things had been sanitized. The wall air unit wasn't cold at all, and in order to make our room comfortable, we had to lower it to 54°! The bathroom wasn't great. The exhaust fan was not functional, and the exhaust fan cover hung partially down from the ceiling . There were black marks on the wall that I could only imagine were areas of mold from water. Fast forward to the morning, where we looked forward to a breakfast before check out. To our chagrin, there was none. There was a small refrigerator of yogurt and a coffin case of prepackaged muffins. We headed to check out so that we could go to breakfast elsewhere. We were advised to drop our key and received no further conversation, and no official checkout or receipt. No "thanks for staying with us" or "how was your stay?". Nada. I hope that's not how it's supposed to go during covid, or at any other time. The customer service was lacking big time! And again, no masks. I would not choose to stay at the Payson Comfort Inn again in the future. read more

All I can positive was it was clean. The walls and door are super thin so all you hear are people up and down the hall and doors slamming. V on in next room,, kids crying,, people talking....yep heard it all They! They need to fix their doors so they do not slam. Super dangerous! Also, the ceilings are crazy thin!!! My first stay here and it was a good experience. My daughter and I were enjoying some travel time together so we yelped for a hotel and this one popped up...thanks to Yelp. The holiday weekend rate for our room was $139.00 per night for two queen beds. The room furniture was a little beaten up but the room was very clean. The beds and linen were very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was petty mediocre. The facility has a small indoor pool and hot tub. Free ice is available. The staff seemed a little grumpy but I would be too if I had to work the holidays so my hats off to them. The hotel is located close to the center of Payson off the Hwy 87. Parking can be a challenge for large motor homes or trailers. Close walking distance to restaurants. On future visits to Payson, I will probably consider returning. read more

We have stayed at this hotel multiple times. We were very unsatisfied at our last visit in September 2023. The outside rim of the toilet was disgusting and had to clean it myself. We had an accidental 2 litre pop explosion. The front desk gave me a mop and cleaner and told me I had to clean it because they couldn't leave the front desk. There were pubic hairs under the icebox tray on the vanity. We had to kill a roach on the wall. And at the end, I asked for a receipt and they said the printer wasn't working and would email it to us, which we never received. And yes, I checked all email folders, including the spam folder. We will be going elsewhere for our future visits. read more

To start I called to get a room because we had been fishing all day and really didn't want to get stuck in the traffic on the way home. The 87 was closed do to fire making it much longer to get home. I let the lady know I have my service dog with me and I wasn't able to get the king size bed I wanted and asked. I was very disappointed, I carry all my documents with me. We where so tired I just let it go. We get to our room, the walls are very thin and the people next to us where have a "good time" and you can hear everything, the people above us sounded like a wrestling match for about 2 hours. The pillows in the room are very warn out and small. I got in the shower and it looked like blood was on the shower curtain. I wish I had taken pictures of the beds, I only got the shower curtain. Because of the way the front desk girls handled my service dog and refused to give me the room I wanted, us being so tired I didn't want to deal with her and the problems we had with our stay, I just wanted to sleep. This location was absolutely horrible. They really need to hire a new housekeeping staff. When we arrived, our bathroom was filthy. There was a beer bottlecap on the floor in the bathroom and the side of the toilet was covered in old urine, which looked like it had been there for awhile. Disgusting. I took pictures that I will be submitting to the company, but won't subject my fellow Yelpers to that. The furniture in the room was all busted up and the refrigerator made a horrible noise ALL night long. I would not recommend this location and definitely will not be returning. read more

I had such an amazing stay at the Comfort Inn in Payson, Az! Walked into the lobby where the staff was friendly, a lovely fire was burning and there is a hot coffee & tea service at all times. It's got a heated pool & hot tub, and it's a non smoking facility. The decor is cozy and matches the northern locale vibe. The furniture is all new, the bed was extremely comfy and hard to get out of in the morning! They have a delightful complimentary breakfast with a choice of juices and coffee and muffins yogurt and fruit. As a solo traveling woman I felt safe and secure in my room, and in this establishment. A nice, clean, simple 3-star hotel with large rooms - the only issue is that they charge high prices for simple accomodations. One Saturday night cost us $150. We booked this room for one night during Memorial Day weekend, with only about a week's notice, so we were very grateful for the accomodations. The rooms are large and clean. We had a King bed, a small chair with ottoman, a work desk, a big TV, a mini fridge and a very simple microwave. Why 3 stars? The elevators are old, the bath towels are small (and you get one each, good luck if you have long hair), the lobby/eating area is tiny (which is fine until they serve breakfast). The breakfast is just ok, but it's incredibly cramped and there's one slow waffle maker (egg patties, sausage patties, yogurt, bags of oatmeal, simple bread, plain bagels, english muffins, a few mini-muffins, apples, oranges, cold cereal). Overall, just a clean, slightly shabbier place. Also, the shampoo, etc., are a super cheap brand, as were the teas and coffees. I usually just use what the hotel provides when we're away on a simple hiking weekend, but this stuff was pretty bad - I would have brought shampoo, conditioner, soap and nice tea bags. read more

We needed a sleep and shower while visiting family in town. Comfort inn fit the bill. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Kids enjoyed a quick dip in the pool. The best part of this hotel was the staff! Everyone was incredibly helpful and nice. Unfortunately, a steering component on our truck broke as we pulled out of a parking spot. The lady at the front desk was incredibly sweet and understanding and told us we could to not worry and we could stay in parking lot as long as needed while we waited for the tow truck. She told us to let her know if we needed any kind of help! Wish I had gotten her name. read more

Anything but comfortable. Our room was clean, but smelled of moisture and was soo stuffy. Our ac wasn't functioning and my family could barely breathe. One of the beds had crumbs in the sheets leftover from someone. Needless to say- we all slept terrible and we extremely uncomfortable all night. The ac units ned to be serviced and the rooms could use an updated deep cleaning. Choice hotels needs to step up their quality especially to give travelers to Payson an above average stay- that would be nice. We had the pleasure of staying here while snowed in during a blizzard and let me tell you, this hotel may not be the best of the best but the front desk man and woman were absolutely amazing to me and my family. I double booked on accident and then we needed early check in due to the storm. They accommodated us with care and ease which made it nice for everyone! The only thing I could say is the heated pool wasn't working but it was still a fun quick place to play in for a bit with the kids. Front desk girl for 2nd shift was amazing, very professional, polite and quick to answer any questions that I had. She was great, I apologize but I could not remember her name. As far as the hotel went, it can definitely use some attention to say the least. But, it worked out for what we went for. Take your own blanket and pillows and not to mention shampoo and conditioner along with body wash. They offer all that to you, but they definitely are getting the cheapest products. The 3rd shift receptionist at this place could definitely work on his customer skills a bit more. Did not like the way he approached my family and I while we were in the pool. He says "I know the OTHER girl let you in the pool for an hour more, but I'm kicking you guys out"! Mind you, we were only there in the pool for 25 mins. He never introduced himself. Im hoping he just had a bad day, but I'm taking a wild guess as to say that's the way that guy is. read more

We were 150 miles from homewhen we hit an elk totaled our car and were very lost. The police drove us to the comfort inn, and it was a godsend. The staff made sure we were ok, gave a discounted room even though it was a holiday weekend. We got in at 2 am and the staff was just so wonderful helping us get settled for the night and making sure we had a way home the next day. Truly the best experience I've ever had at a hotel. This weekend we stayed at Comfort Inn for my daughters softball tournament. We encountered a couple problems with the hotel. When my daughter got back to the room covered in dirt after a long day of softball, she went to take a shower. I heard the water running for about forty five seconds, then it shut off. My daughter came out and told us the shower shut off. My husband and I both repeatedly tried to turn the shower on, but it did not work. We called the front desk and they told us that this often happens when the hot water tank switches over and to try again in ten minutes later. Really? At $200+ a night we should get hot water when we shower. After my daughter sat shivering and covered in dirt for about ten minutes she tried again. While she was in the shower the water shut off EIGHT times and once the water turned back on it was freezing. Three hours later when I took a shower the same thing happened, to be frank it was terrible. Another problem with our bathroom was that the toilet seat was extremely crooked and would barely stay on the toilet. The elevator in the hotel was also disgusting. The floor was filthy and there were fingerprints all over the walls. There was a huge wad of gum stuck in the grate in the elevator as well. Honestly we were severely unimpressed with the quality and cleanliness of the entire hotel. I do not recommend staying here. read more

I am personally fond of all the girls that are working in housekeeping and front desk.. They are great listeners and are so helpful. I thought that all the girls were very helpful and they all had great comrodery.. Very important i think.. Our room was clean and bright.. We didn't get to use the pool but maybe next time.. Breakfast could be little more inviting selection was kinda small but what can one expect due to this covid viris.. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to all my friends n family.. The front desk woman was very kind and even gave me a few bucks off the military rate. The small indoor pool and hot tub are a nice touch. Plus you can walk 10 yards outside and eat a great meal. I would stay there again for sure if I couldn't camp! On a side note, I am deeply saddened by the swimming hole tragedy. My heart goes out to that family. read more

I read some other reviews and was disappointed at how people were picking apart this hotel. Trivago and TripAdvisor rate this as a 2 Star Hotel, but I'd give it an extra star! If people are this picky, they shouldn't stay in a 2-Star Hotel with 5-Star expectations. Anyway, I booked online last minute, so paid a $111 AAA rate which was about $130 after taxes and fees for a Friday night. The lobby is quaint, and clean. They have coffee that was readily accessible and hot right in the lobby, as well as a juice dispenser, and fruit-infused water. The staff provided 5-star service. Not one rude person. The young woman that worked the night shift when we arrived allowed us to choose our floor. My 9-year-old son didn't pack properly (I should have checked his bag), and she offered us extra toiletries and a toothbrush with toothpaste, and laundry service if we needed it. Yes they were small, but I didn't mind b/c I was just so thankful they were available, and she offered me extra to use. Unfortunately the rooms aren't sound-proof, and we had elephants that stayed above us and went to bed late, and woke up early. But being a 2-Star, I can't really see a point to complain too much about it. Next time I'll choose the top floor. The room was nice, and clean, and although I didn't like the carpets in the pictures, they looked better in person. The hall carpets could use an update, but again, it's a 2-Star, so no room for complaints. My son and I each had our own bed. We occupied a 2-queen room. The mattresses were comfortable, and the bedding was clean and comfortable, and the blackout curtains worked very well. The young lady just gave us a friendly tip to click up and down on the channels on the remote b/c the number buttons don't work, which can be frustrating for guests. Before I could tell my son, he tried changing channels by just using the numbers, which only gives you static. However, if you pick a channel close to what you want, you can still click up and down and it'll go back to normal to the next consecutive channel. I was fine with that. When taking a bath, the tub slowly drained even when plugged, but not enough to warrant a complaint. I was happy that I was able to park close to the front each time we left the hotel and came back. I really like that there are so many restaurants nearby... Burger King, KFC, Wendy's, Denny's, etc. so we didn't have to go far when we got the munchies. The continental breakfast was typical for this rating of a hotel, but was good, and they give you a choice of blueberry or regular waffles if you want to make one. The room we stayed in had a small fridge, and a microwave, and there are snacks in the vending area, including popcorn. Although small, I did like the indoor pool. I liked that it was never terribly crowded. The water was just a little chilly at first, and the hot tub was "almost" too hot, but overall it was nice b/c it was close to our room, and they have towels that were readily available, so that you didn't have to use your room towel. Although check-out is normally at 11, we asked for late check-out so that we had time to go visit Tonto Natural Bridge in the morning, come back and swim a little bit and relax before going back home to Phoenix. We were gone to the park from about 10 this morning to 12:30, and when I asked the morning staff, they allowed us to check out at 2 with no problems. We got back just in time (around 1) to have about a 30 minute swim before going back to the room to clean up. The key deactivated automatically, per their computer system, but they reactivated it with no problem. I liked that it was a pet-free and 100% smoke-free hotel. I have asthma and am not a fan of animals, so I was grateful that this hotel caters to people with my condition. Thank you thank you thank you to the excellent staff and their hospitality. Wonderful and very highly recommended! In town due to losing a loved one, and treated with incredible kindness by every member of the staff. The proprietor went above and beyond to make sure I didn't have to worry about a thing. This level of kindness is something you might expect from a B&B, but not a chain. It felt very personal here, with very clean, large rooms featuring more amenities than I would expect. Excellent location in town. Don't know what to say. Bugs flying around in the lobby. Would definitely not eat the breakfast here. Asked about fitness center because the add stated they gave fitness center access. Someone took the key is what was told to me so I could not use the center. No apologies no nothing just someone didn't turn the key in. Safety latch was broken off the door and had to put a chair by the door. Haven't had to do that in a long time. The vending machine took my money. Receptionist couldn't find the key to refund the money so she gave it back to me out of her own pocket. Sure in the heck hope she got her money back. Not worth $$. Location is good and walking distant to bars and restaurants. Would most likely not refer and would probably sleep in a sleeping bag in my car. read more
