Came for a wedding. Was super excited. Website said all internet work would be completed by 7/23. I went 8/19 so perfect. Not. This place is great if you don't need cell service or WiFi. This was not my case. I needed to be able to get texts and upload stuff. Had to leave to do that. Also the restaurant is closed early week so you have to drive back to town (this wasn't explained till check in). Over all I don't think I'd go back due to not being able to connect. I was/am seriously disappointed by my whole visit as I had wanted to visit here for well over thirty years. Finally did and it was a MAJOR disappointment. Hope your stay is better. Rooms have a great set up with a kitchen etc. cable tv sucks with like ten channels. No streaming obviously. But they have free dvds.

What a great fund just outside of Payson. I love finding these older well-kept properties. Room was updated and comfortable. Property was great with many outdoor activities. I hiked trails across the highway and it was well within walking distance of the Lodge.

Stayed for a week late September 2024 in a studio for two. Very happy with the experience and accommodations. Extremely well cared for property. Perfect combination of rustic and elegant. Internet worked great both with lobby and room WiFi connection. Heather at the front desk was great, really cared and made sure everything was right. Looking forward to returning. Highly recommended!

Beautiful property. Cabins and tidied. Stayed in a studio - fridge, stove, dishwasher, micro. Awesome! Pool and jacuzzi were amazing, music and a drink at the saloon. Putting green, playground, cornhole, bbq's. Really cute! Zane gray resteraunt was ok. Nothing amazing but ok. Hubs says don't order the steak. Pizza was other worldly tho. Just a really nice vibe. Room was beautiful! Clean and smelled lovely. Back patio area was nice. Hotel lobby has computer and land line. WiFi is spotty tho and tv is no cable but you can bring a dvd or 2 I guess. Staff and other guests are friendly and helpful. Had a lovely experience and look forward to coming back with the grandkids.

This place is a hidden gem, heated pool, amazing restaurant with a great bar. Heather was so sweet and helpful during check in. They have cabins you can rent out as well. Trails all over the property. I will definitely be coming back for a relaxing vacation.

My check-in was easy, after I was connected to their WiFi. There were families playing games in the lobby. Parking was straight forward. My room 110 is exactly what I expected, except better - it has a faux fireplace . Since I am in the main lodge, there were no mouse droppings (per some other reviews.) The kitchenette has dishes, silverware, frying pans, a small refrigerator, dishwasher and a two burner stove top. Plus, there are gas grills with utensils in the room. I checked in this evening and am thoroughly enjoying my visit so far. (The $220 deposit was the only surprise at check-in)

Very friendly staff, great location. The creek on property is lovely. Off season is reasonably priced. They have cable tv and over 200 DVDs you can borrow. On site restaurant and bar. Really nice fireplace in lobby.

It's one of the many forms of wildlife we have seen so far

We have a deluxe 2/2 with a full kitchen. Our family all has something to do here. Walks on the beautiful property, Frisbee Golf, giant chess board, pool, spa, stable, basketball, bbqs, and many more. It's quiet, and almost everyone me pass is nice and says hi if not a full conversation. The wifi does have some issues now and then.

The 2 bedroom cabins are great. Rooms are clean. Nice kitchen with everything you need. Grill on deck. Overlooks the creek. The gas fireplace is a fantastic plus. Will definitely stay here from now on.

Like a dirty motel. We've stayed at Khols ranch before and it was always nice and clean but this was terrible. This was our anniversary weekend. First, we got there and they gave our room away to a club member even though we paid for it. They acknowledged our room was given away when it wasn't supposed to be so we got "upgraded" to a large cabin. We got to our cabin and it was pretty dirty. Dog hair all over the carpet and couch. Dirty table with food and crumbs left on it. Dirty stove. Cracked dirty microwave. Dirty kitchen floor. Moldy shower. Con webs on the lights and walls. And the best part, a bedroom with HAIR on the pillow and a napkin left on the floor. We went through an entire canister of wet wipes cleaning the entire kitchen and living room. We moved to the second bedroom which was cleaner. We lint rolled couch and swept the kitchen. We covered the couch with blankets and towels so we didn't get hair on us. I texted the manger and he sent a cleaning crew but we had already cleaned up the kitchen, living room and switched bedrooms. They came and vacuumed to get the dog hair up. It felt like being at a dirty motel. Guess Kohls ranch has lost its touch.

This has always been a nice little getaway for me. Kohl's Ranch is just over an hour drive from the Valley and is hidden within the Tonto National Forest off the 260 (north of Payson). Christopher Creek, Tonto Creek, a fish hatchery, the Mogollon Rim and plenty of hiking trails are all pretty close by. I've even caught an ASU football scrimmage game once at the nearly Camp Tontozona. It's pretty peaceful and you get to wake up to the views of the surrounding Ponderosa pine trees. I love to go for walks at night because the stars shine pretty bright without all the light pollution. The Lodge itself has about 60 rooms. The rooms have mini kitchens, coffee makers, cable TV and a DVD player, refrigerator and wi-fi access (not the greatest). There are a couple chairs on the patio area to sit and relax in. Hotel amenities include board games, a horseshoe pit, a fitness center, a swimming pool, mini-golf, a fire pit to roast s'mores and a big fireplace in the lobby to relax at. There is horseback riding owned by another business behind the lodge. For food, they have the Zane Grey restaurant that serves country BBQ, pizza and some western cuisine. The hours are very spotty and are more catered to people staying over the weekend. Overall this is nice place to stay if you just want a quick break from the busyness of life. It's also a nice place for families with children. Rates are pretty affordable if you book ahead of time.

Separate rooms from the lodge, down an adjacent street. Loved rm 402

What a great place. I found it was cheaper to book on priceline than on the site the hotel uses due to the booking fee. I absolutely loved the comfortable, clean and well and well appointed room. The facilities are welcoming and clean. The staff were friendly. I will be planning another trip with an extended stay to take advantage of some of the local activities, like horseback riding.

What a wonderful place. Living in the valley for 15 years I had never heard of this place. Needing a respite from my daily life I ran away up north for a long weekend, hoping to find a place in the forest. I was fortunate to find this place the day of and book a long weekend. I was pleasantly impressed and the friendliness, professionalism and kindness of the staff. The hotel has a cabin feel to it. There are a few cabins on the property with more room for larger families. But, I would not mind renting it for myself or a weekend away with the husband. I was alone during the first half of my stay and felt safe at all hours. There were several weddings happening during my weekend stay. The room was on the "small" side BUT perfect for one or two people. The room had a comfortable king size bed with comfy pillows. I found the room very clean. The room has a large coffee pot, toaster. Fridge/freezer and microwave. Coffee is provided along with ceramic mugs and drinking glasses. Pool towels are provided as well. The room did have that old musty smell and the hotel carpet was a bit sticky. My feet were black from walking on it barefoot. The hotel could do with removing the carpet and opt for hardwood floors. I find those much cleaner. Loved the full size hair drier and the provided dish soap; dish sponge and laundry detergent A BIG PLUS!! I typically travel with my own coffee press, and utensils but forgot them this trip. The front office provided plates and silverware which is another big plus. The pool is heated to 82 degrees and it is very clean. There is a jacuzzi in the property as well. The overall property is beautiful and not crowded. This trip felt absolutely peaceful. Access to the creek is easy and although we were not able to see it from the patio of our room we were able to listen to it both in the evening and during the day. Went on a few hikes just walking distance from our room. Restaurant on property. The food is eh okay. Nothing to brag about, but it's easily accessible for breakfast and dinner. Or a 15 min drive into town offers more options and grocery shopping options as well. We saw several animals during our stay which was neat. A snake, birds and friendly squirrels. I would absolutely come back.

Looking at the thunderclouds and parking lot from the balcony of the lodge.

Okay, this is a long one as I feel it's needed to actually feel the five star experience!…read more Majestic Mountain Inn, so cute! Family and I decided to take a night trip to Payson. Booked the room hours before arrival with only past experiences guiding my choices. We booked a queen room with two queen beds, photos showed a fireplace as well... I mean winter in Payson Az demands a fireplace... right? Done... booked... on our way. We arrived just before dinner. Once we pulled up, you see a quaint looking mountain hotel escape with one large two story building and several connecting little cottage looking rooms. The manager who checked us in (please forgive me for forgetting his name) had been very accommodating with our requests for more blankets and a lower level room. He also recommended the local pizza restaurant for dinner within walking distance. Our room was adorable and large! Two queen beds, a couch, fireplace and large vanity area with plenty of space for four. The beds were so comfortable and with the fireplace only, left us with a very cozy evening. Almost felt like you were in a secluded cabin in the woods. Also, I won't forget to mention, breakfast was included! Eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, biscuits, and gravy... so much to choose from. My husband has decided that this will be our "go-to" in Payson from now on. Thanks Majestic Mountain Inn for making our adventure more memorable! See you next time! I apologize for not having any Photos but we were too busy taking in the ambience of this town and making memories, I didn't even think to grab my phone.

HORRIBLE BAIT AND SWITCH. Fake advertising! They took out ALL of the fireplaces! No one told us…read morewhen we booked! I'm sure this was to save money on propane and maybe on insurance, too. But they still charge FULL RATE! About the most expensive room in Payson. We are paying over $200 per night. Over $400 this weekend. Why not pass on a little bit of the savings? They need to be HONEST in their advertising and website. This is NOT okay. In the big hole - where the fireplace USED to be - they placed a portable electric heater that has FAKE logs and a glowing light. It blows out a little heat, but not enough to heat in the winter. There's is an under window unit for more heat, but it is NOT CHARMING. We're here for our anniversary. I would not recommend this place if you want romance. It has totally lost the allure that has had us coming back here for 30 + years. Even though the rooms are getting run down, it is still a good location with a decent breakfast. (We'll see tomorrow). Still one of the better places in Payson. But NOT a romantic getaway anymore.

This place was not worth the money whatsoever. When we first checked in, I let the front desk agent…read moreknow that we had a service dog with us. No questions asked, she simply said okay. I had a really rough week, and so I booked a more expensive suite with a jacuzzi tub in it. Upon entering the room, we were impressed with the size, but quickly our optimism diminished.... the tub was gross. All of the grout around the tub had huge gaps and cracks where the grout was falling off into the tub. The toiletries were minimal. The shower had a shampoo and conditioner bottle attached to the wall, but no body soap and nothing to bathe in the tub with. I didn't bring toiletries, assuming these would be provided, so unfortunately I wasn't even able to utilize my upgrade. This was actually the least of my worries. We went to to pull out the sofa bed for my kids.... absolutely disgusting! There were huge yellow stains all over the mattress that looked like urine. Not even sure how this passed housekeeping standards. Photos attached. The room had a nasty smell, stains in the carpets and on the sofa, and overall just disgusting. The final straw was when I walked my small dachshund (registered service animal) downstairs to exit the lobby. I had my hands full of personal items, so my son was walking him on a leash. As we exited the lobby, there was a few guests downstairs, and my service animal barked a bit as we walked by. Nothing aggressive or unruley whatsoever! Simply a bark. My son was able to control him, and there was nothing to be concerned about. He wasnt pulling on the leash or charging at anyone, simply walking with my son towards the exit as he excitedly expressed a bark. The lobby agent rudely yelled "maam!! You cant have your dog in here!" I had my hands full and told her that id be right back to speak with her, and she continued to yell, "you cant have your dog in here! Whats your room number!!" At this point, is was offended by her actions and decided that I would take a few minutes to calm down rather than walk back inside. So, after about 20 minutes I called the front desk. I asked her how I would go about requesting a refund on my room, since we still had reservations through tomorrow. She rudely asked why and asked for my room number. I then told her I was the lady with the service animal, and that she rudely discriminated against me instead of asking the proper questions to determine IF my dog was a properly trained animal. Instead, she got extremely defensive and lied, telling me that my dog charged at the person in the lobby, and that there's no way my dog could ever be a service animal... um, no. This isn't how it works lady. You don't get to assume my dog isn't qualified. Nor do you have the right to lie and say my dog is aggressive when he clearly wasn't. She then said she has cameras, and I said great! I'd love to show your manager the footage to prove you wrong. What's your name? ... crickets..... okay, let me speak to your manager.... she hangs up. So, I call back. I instantly get an attitude, and am told that she's the front desk manager now. Okay, awesome! What's your name so that I can tell priceline who i spoke with to get a refund due to discrimination, unprofessional staff, and disgusting rooms... she refuses. Okay, what's your managers name? I need to speak with someone that can provide me with a name, someone who has the professional capabilities to speak with a concerned customer... again, hangs up. This is absolutely unacceptable!!! I have full documentation showing my animal is a fully trained service animal. My son is a diabetic, and my 3 year old dachshund has been through rigorous training to be a diabetic detection animal, that can show signs of alert when my son's blood sugar is at a risky level. Per law, I do not have to go into detail of my son's condition, nor do I need to show documentation, but this woman was completely unprofessional and discriminatory, and ive pursued a claim with corporate. I really hope she loses her job because I will NEVER stay at a choice hotel again
