    Lodge 5600

We spent two nights at Lodge 5600 in Pine Az. This was our first time visiting the area and stayed here because it was the host location for an event. The lodge is located at on the edge of the town of Pine. Simply beautiful, surrounding the forest. The Lodge has 8 rooms, 4 on the first floor and 4 on the second. No elevator. Our room # 3 had a King bed, fireplace, large bathroom with walk in shower, table and 2 side chairs. Also a mini refrigerator, microware and coffee pot. The room was clean and also had an outdoor patio with 2 chairs and view of the Mogollon Rim. Next door is a café that serves breakfast and lunch basically sandwiches. Parking is convenient with a lot across from the rooms.

    View from the upper patio.

My husband and I stayed at The Lodge at 5600for my birthday this year (2025) on June 1st. Our room was beautiful and well maintained. Very clean and comfortable. Lisa and Brian are wonderful hosts! The view from our upstairs room was breathtaking. The room itself is well stocked with everything you need. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, various bathroom toiletries and a coffee maker with cups and glasses as well. The lodge grounds are meticulously maintained and beautiful. They have a wonderful very large upstairs deck for enjoying the view and socializing. They have a boutique feel of the lodge makes it feel very homey and comfortable. Thank you Lisa and Brian for a wonderful experience!

Our room on the second floor was comfortable and had great views of the mountains to the south and west from our private balcony.

We loved our stay at the Strawberry Inn! Such a perfect getaway…read more I'll preface by saying there were only 2 of us so take that into account. Stayed here for the first time in March 2026. We stayed in Airstream #4 and it was perfect. Very private and a nice view. There are some homes nearby but nothing super close. Loved the chairs, fire table, and the hot tub! Even had elk and deer walk right by the campsite while we were there, it's awesome! The inside of the Airstream was nice! Queen size bed, super comfy. Spacious enough with a couch and mini kitchen and fridge. Even had a TV and wifi. The bathroom does not have a door - so if you're coming with friends, beware! There is a Keurig too. I do wish the properties were spaced out from each other more. You are very close to the other rentals. Especially walking around. Saw tons of families so kids definitely could make the trip. You can easily walk up to Windmill Coffee or the PIEbar! Definitely recommend both. The communication with the staff and concierge was very easy and quick responses. We didn't have any issues during our stay. Truly felt like we were able to step away and be on our getaway. It's such a quiet and peaceful area. Couldn't recommend the Strawberry Inn more! We absolutely loved our stay and can't wait to come back!

It's marketed as a self serve hotel but it feels more like a poorly equipped AirBnb. Make sure to check with owners to know what you need to bring to save you a trip to the grocery store. The space to play games, have family cookouts, all the things for kiddos to do was HUGE! I can't say enough amazing things about the cabins on strawberry hill , and a huge plus was the staff! They were so great, so welcoming and how they trusted us in their space was amazing! The ceremony views were also incredible! I could go on and on of how great my wedding weekend was and that's because we chose cabins on strawberry hill! Sad it's already over ! We booked our wedding almost two…read moreyears in advance, and from the moment we toured the property, Rick completely sold us on the vision and he did not disappoint. Our entire wedding weekend was truly magical. One of the biggest highlights is that you get all 14 cabins on-site for your guests, which makes the experience feel like a private mountain retreat with all your favorite people. Waking up in the morning and seeing wildlife, elk and deer roaming the property was such a special touch that you just can't get anywhere else. The property itself is breathtaking from every angle. The new ceremony overlook site is absolutely stunning, offering views that make your "I do" moment feel unreal. And the string lights that stretch from cabin to cabin and over the dance floor completely transform the space at night. It's magical, warm, and gives off that perfect cozy Hallmark movie vibe. They also provide a super helpful wedding portal for communication. It lays out a clear timeline of all the tasks that need to be completed, each with a deadline, which makes it so easy to stay on track and feel organized throughout the planning process. We used their recommended food vendor, Marcus at Gibson's Smokehouse, who was incredible--the food was amazing. We also had the best team of vendors who are familiar with the venue and with each other, which made everything run even smoother: Photographers: Spets Photography, Videographers: Bumblebee Photo Film, DJ: Javier at C-West Entertainment, Wedding Coordinator: DianaCatherineWeddings Each of them played such a huge role in making the venue shine and bringing our day to life. Another huge perk is that you can bring in most of your own vendors, giving you the flexibility to create the exact wedding you want. The owners (Rick, Amanda & Jason), who live on-site, are incredibly kind, welcoming, and available 24/7 if needed. They walk around during the wedding to ensure everything is running smoothly, and their presence adds such a comforting and supportive touch. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how beautiful the venue was and how much fun they had. It was seriously the best day ever. We couldn't have envisioned a more perfect wedding from the location, to the setup, to the people who made it all happen. If you're looking for a magical, scenic, cozy, and unforgettable place to get married, this is the place to have your wedding. Highly, highly recommend!- Megan & Cierra

I had a really rough week, and so I booked a more expensive suite with a jacuzzi tub in it. Upon entering the room, we were impressed with the size, but quickly our optimism diminished.... the tub was gross. All of the grout around the tub had huge gaps and cracks where the grout was falling off into the tub. The toiletries were minimal. The shower had a shampoo and conditioner bottle attached to the wall, but no body soap and nothing to bathe in the tub with. I didn't bring toiletries, assuming these would be provided, so unfortunately I wasn't even able to utilize my upgrade. This was actually the least of my worries. We went to to pull out the sofa bed for my kids.... absolutely disgusting! There were huge yellow stains all over the mattress that looked like urine. Not even sure how this passed housekeeping standards. Photos attached. The room had a nasty smell, stains in the carpets and on the sofa, and overall just disgusting. The final straw was when I walked my small dachshund (registered service animal) downstairs to exit the lobby. I had my hands full of personal items, so my son was walking him on a leash. As we exited the lobby, there was a few guests downstairs, and my service animal barked a bit as we walked by. Nothing aggressive or unruley whatsoever! Simply a bark. My son was able to control him, and there was nothing to be concerned about. He wasnt pulling on the leash or charging at anyone, simply walking with my son towards the exit as he excitedly expressed a bark. The lobby agent rudely yelled "maam!! You cant have your dog in here!" I had my hands full and told her that id be right back to speak with her, and she continued to yell, "you cant have your dog in here! Whats your room number!!" At this point, is was offended by her actions and decided that I would take a few minutes to calm down rather than walk back inside. So, after about 20 minutes I called the front desk. I asked her how I would go about requesting a refund on my room, since we still had reservations through tomorrow. She rudely asked why and asked for my room number. I then told her I was the lady with the service animal, and that she rudely discriminated against me instead of asking the proper questions to determine IF my dog was a properly trained animal. Instead, she got extremely defensive and lied, telling me that my dog charged at the person in the lobby, and that there's no way my dog could ever be a service animal... um, no. This isn't how it works lady. You don't get to assume my dog isn't qualified. Nor do you have the right to lie and say my dog is aggressive when he clearly wasn't. She then said she has cameras, and I said great! I'd love to show your manager the footage to prove you wrong. What's your name? ... crickets..... okay, let me speak to your manager.... she hangs up. So, I call back. I instantly get an attitude, and am told that she's the front desk manager now. Okay, awesome! What's your name so that I can tell priceline who i spoke with to get a refund due to discrimination, unprofessional staff, and disgusting rooms... she refuses. Okay, what's your managers name? I need to speak with someone that can provide me with a name, someone who has the professional capabilities to speak with a concerned customer... again, hangs up. This is absolutely unacceptable!!! I have full documentation showing my animal is a fully trained service animal. My son is a diabetic, and my 3 year old dachshund has been through rigorous training to be a diabetic detection animal, that can show signs of alert when my son's blood sugar is at a risky level. Per law, I do not have to go into detail of my son's condition, nor do I need to show documentation, but this woman was completely unprofessional and discriminatory, and ive pursued a claim with corporate. I really hope she loses her job because I will NEVER stay at a choice hotel again

*1/5 stars - very disappointed…read more Our stay at Kohls Ranch cabins in Payson, Arizona, was an absolute disaster. The cabin was infested with spiders - we're talking dozens. It was like they were waiting for us to arrive. We tried to make the best of it, but the bugs were everywhere. But that wasn't even the worst part. The refrigerator stopped working altogether, leaving us with warm drinks and spoiled food. When we reported the issue to management, they brought us a mini refrigerator that could barely even hold our drinks. We had to throw away over a hundred dollars in food that had become warm due to it not working. The cabin itself was okay . The overall experience was disappointing and stressful. We also had issues with the one bbq that was shared between 3 cabins it would not light... again, we had to call management. *Tips for improvement:* 1. Exterminate the spider infestation 2. Maintain functional appliances 3. Respond to guest concerns 4. Leave at least one cabin open for emergency situations like this. We are extremely disappointed with our expirence. This was sapose to be our summer family vacation with our children, but it was cut short because there were no other cabins available. I hope Kohls Ranch can fix these issues because this literally ruined our summer vacation, not to mention our time and money wasted.

Great place to stay. Awesome amenities and great location. Tons of things to do on site.read more

Simply AMAZING!!!…read more Pre-trip - I had lots of questions and Carol was patient and helpful while I was planning this trip!! Getting there - I flew into PHX, rented a car, and drove 3 hours to Young, AZ. Because I rented a car, and not an SUV, I knew I wouldn't be able to drive through all of the creeks to get on the property. Once I arrived in Young, AZ I met staff from the lodge who brought me back to the property and the same when I needed to leave. On my next trip, I will probably just rent an SUV. Accommodations - Fantastic! I stayed in the Owner's Hideaway room which had a king bed, fireplace, bathtub, and shower. The room was super comfy and relaxing. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There was an entrance to the room through the lodge and from the exterior patio. I loved sitting in the lounge chair next to the fireplace! Food - 5 out of 5 stars. I am gluten-free and dairy-free and Leslie made me plenty of gluten- and dairy-free food that was fabulous!! With three included meals a day plus snacks and dessert, it is absolutely impossible to go hungry here!! The Property - Beautiful!! The property has a lodge, bunkhouse, pond, barn, and plenty of open land. At the pond, there are lounge chairs, paddleboards, and a paddle boat. During the summer you can swim in the pond. Everyone is free to hike and explore the endless acres of land. The activities - most rooms include the cost of your daily activity. I had never been on a horse before so they allowed me to go in the arena and get comfortable on the horse before joining the group on the trail. The trail is not flat, you go up the mountain and back down. It is STUNNING!!! The horses are all very gentle and Tyler chose the best horse for me, especially being my first time! I learned how to shoot a shotgun and rifle at their shooting range. I also went on an ATV tour with Kenny around the property which was also a ton of fun. I wanted to do archery, but they said that I would have needed to bring my own bow, which I didn't know or I would have brought mine with me. Overall I had an AMAZING stay! The staff treated you like family. The other guest were friendly! I had a ton of fun and relaxation! The price is extremely reasonable and includes the room, meals, and activities. I highly recommend staying here!!!

The cabin was nice although I do think there should be an investment in updating. None of our glasses matched and most were plastic tumbler type. Our cabin was for 4 and yes, there were 4 folks, 4 spoons and 4 knives only. A maybe 2 inch circular soap is what was available for both hand washing and bathing. Seems one of the sleeping areas is the living room on a sofabed. The parking area and area around the cabins is very well lit at night - some may have suitable curtains, ours did not but was not as issue for us. There was no information on the cabin, the area, the rules, etc in our cabin which would have been helpful - there also didn't appear to be any onsite assistance anywhere. This is also a dog friendly place although you have to keep them on leash at all time. There is no enclosed area. The biggest negative for me/family was the unevenness of the walkways around the cabin. There a number of dips in the roadway and parking area and it is a steep incline. The kids play area is on a hill and the paved portion is so steep you gain way too much speed walking straight down - gotta zig zag. We both agreed if you had walking difficulties or had a walker, it was going to be challenging to get around. If you are planning a trip, be sure the check the local establishments times. We did not and all in the immediate area were closed Monday-Wednesday - this may just be the time of year though don't know. Be sure to pack what you want/need - although only 20 miles or so to Payson, its a long 20 miles.
