Great place to stay, rooms are very clean, extra large, and the owner goes out of her way to accomodate all her guests.

We had an off-road group with approximately 20 plus people stay here for 2 nights on Memorial Day…read moreweekend. The owners Kenny and Heidi are amazing. They take care of everything want to make your stay perfect. They also prepare 5 Star quality meals. They have many activities for all ages. A saloon with pool table. They also have a custom made shooting gallery. If you're e looking for a place to stay in Young with a large group, I strongly suggest the Deadbroke Inn. Plenty of secure parking for your cars and even has room for trucks and trailers if this is your staging point. This place is still making improvements as it is under new ownership. This place has character and super fun. If you're looking for a 5 five-star hotel, this place isn't for you. It is clean and comfortable though and very welcoming. Will definitely be going back in the future. Looking forward to it.

This little gem in Young, AZ is complete with unique & cozy accommodations with amazing views and, of course, Robin and Karla. My boyfriend and I were invited by a good friend & there were 7 of us total. No particular agenda or specific plans were made for this little trip, but we were plenty occupied and engaged the entire time. We stayed in the Saloon/Guesthouse (which Robin built, by the way!) and it was plenty of space for everyone. Upon arriving Saturday morning, we met Robin & Karla and proceeded to unload our vehicles. After that, we spend some time observing their horses and soaking in the beautiful weather. Robin & Karla were filling us in on some of the history of the area. I could listen to them talk for DAYS. They're such great storytellers and their passion for digging into the past in an effort to preserve it is really admirable. After about a hour or so, Robin took us out into the woods.. Not sure exactly where we went, but he hopped on his quad and we followed behind (caravan of SUVs & pickup trucks). The road was windy and bumpy and we got some weird looks from the cattle as we blazed passed. We spent a few hours hiking down to some water while Robin filled us in on more history. Some of us panned for gold, others explored the area (found an abandoned mine) or fired some rounds nearby. It was a nice, relaxing morning. We went back to the Inn around 130p and Robin started showing us how to rope. A couple of us gave it a shot.. I didn't. I just stood back & took photos :) Then around 330p, we went up the road to a winery for a tasting (Bruzzi Vineyard.. I'll review separately). We returned a couple hours later with several bottles of wine and started cooking/grilling dinner. Robin & Karla joined us for dinner and conversation in the saloon. We played pool & had a very relaxing evening. Sunday morning didn't really have much on the agenda. After breakfast, Robin & Karla took us up the road to the Hogland General Store and gave us a tour of the structures on the land. Again, more information about the history and the people that lived in Young years ago. It was all very interesting. We will definitely be back & hope to have time for a longer stay.

So close to a couple lakes and an overall perfect location! We came from 97 degrees to the 60s! My ONLY complaints were the shower head () it was awful! And the satellite didn't work very well so no TV which was fine but for families with kids might be an issue. But overall definite recommendation!

The cabin was nice although I do think there should be an investment in updating. None of our glasses matched and most were plastic tumbler type. Our cabin was for 4 and yes, there were 4 folks, 4 spoons and 4 knives only. A maybe 2 inch circular soap is what was available for both hand washing and bathing. Seems one of the sleeping areas is the living room on a sofabed. The parking area and area around the cabins is very well lit at night - some may have suitable curtains, ours did not but was not as issue for us. There was no information on the cabin, the area, the rules, etc in our cabin which would have been helpful - there also didn't appear to be any onsite assistance anywhere. This is also a dog friendly place although you have to keep them on leash at all time. There is no enclosed area. The biggest negative for me/family was the unevenness of the walkways around the cabin. There a number of dips in the roadway and parking area and it is a steep incline. The kids play area is on a hill and the paved portion is so steep you gain way too much speed walking straight down - gotta zig zag. We both agreed if you had walking difficulties or had a walker, it was going to be challenging to get around. If you are planning a trip, be sure the check the local establishments times. We did not and all in the immediate area were closed Monday-Wednesday - this may just be the time of year though don't know. Be sure to pack what you want/need - although only 20 miles or so to Payson, its a long 20 miles.

Our first time in Pine and excited to stay at this lodge even though only one night was available…read moreduring our trip. We planned to enjoy their views, a sandwich and glass of wine from their cafe/wine bar and perhaps a friendly conversation with a fellow guest. Sadly it was a big disappointment. The lodge is pretty, but ended up a strange place to stay because it was essentially closed to us. We booked online what was stated as the last of 8 rooms and paid their extra $35 to check-in 2 hours early. Their "SIP" cafe/wine bar is advertised as open to the public. We arrived at 2:30 pm only to find the cafe/wine bar was closed. Shortly after, from our balcony we noticed a man was on the property moving chairs and went downstairs to speak with him. The lodge appeared, sounded and felt completely empty so we asked him if anyone else was there to help us in the cafe. He said no one else was on the property and that the cafe was definitely closed and that he was "only there to set up for a private event for which the entire lodge had been booked." Huh? First we heard of this. At 3:35 pm I phoned their after-hours number and spoke with an owner Lisa who confirmed the lodge had been booked for a private group. She said the cafe had stayed open late for that group and should I have called 15 minutes prior someone in the cafe could have helped me. She also said they can't commit to hours of operation in the cafe because they have trouble keeping staff. Huh? Their website advertises outdoor cafe/wine bar seating that is open to the public and to lodging guests and it advertises outdoor games. However, the seating and games area appeared to be cordoned off for the private event. The cafe/wine bar hours posted on their website, in front of the cafe and in the room are all confusingly different and misleading. Nothing about our stay was relaxing. It was a terrible nights sleep and other than a midnight arrival in the room next door it seemed no one else was there. The lodge felt like a ghost town. By 7 am the parking lot was still empty, by 8:30 am there were a few cars and a couple people in front of the cafe. We thought we were booking a room at a lodge where other guests would be among us--not a private Airbnb. This lodge should never have taken our room reservation without first informing us that they rented out everything else to a private group. This place is pretty but also pretty strange. It was the most inhospitable hospitality environment we have ever not enjoyed. The owner was rudely indifferent. We definitely were not welcomed in the space. Not a good value for our $272 booking. Perhaps if you're a private room block group the place will be open and you'll receive some attention. We highly don't recommend it.

We stayed in Airstream #4 and it was perfect. Very private and a nice view. There are some homes nearby but nothing super close. Loved the chairs, fire table, and the hot tub! Even had elk and deer walk right by the campsite while we were there, it's awesome! The inside of the Airstream was nice! Queen size bed, super comfy. Spacious enough with a couch and mini kitchen and fridge. Even had a TV and wifi. The bathroom does not have a door - so if you're coming with friends, beware! There is a Keurig too. I do wish the properties were spaced out from each other more. You are very close to the other rentals. Especially walking around. Saw tons of families so kids definitely could make the trip. You can easily walk up to Windmill Coffee or the PIEbar! Definitely recommend both. The communication with the staff and concierge was very easy and quick responses. We didn't have any issues during our stay. Truly felt like we were able to step away and be on our getaway. It's such a quiet and peaceful area. Couldn't recommend the Strawberry Inn more! We absolutely loved our stay and can't wait to come back!
