OK, so it's been a minute. I came back tonight and I am so glad that I did, brought my buddy Jim. ***Well, this joint is H I P! Thursday night and a good crowd. I get the feeling that they're mostly "regulars" and I can see why. The environment is splendid and the service is top-notch. The World Cup was on, and the crowd was a little jazzed up which made the place rather lively. I have a hard time with the sport since 30,000.000 - 8 year olds play it in North Dakota alone! It just seems a bit pedestrian. There's a couple of food items on the menu that I think are attractive but I was already well fed so I had a pickle spear which was very garlicky and delicious. My beer choice was one of my favorite local makers in this region "PURE PROJECT". Man, this was good: "NEVERENDING WEEKEND" a murky IPA: Aroma: A tropical punch of mango, peach, and bright lime zest. Taste Profile: Lush, sweet notes of pineapple and coconut lead the sip, followed by a crisp and zesty navel orange finish. Mouthfeel: It offers a medium body with a highly drinkable, "juicy" feel. My beer buddy, and good neighbor opted for the "BOCK AMBER" and one of the best values-only 5$ ! THE TASTE IS SLIGHTLY SWEET WITH NOTES OF ROASTED NUTS AND CARAMEL. LIGHTLY HOPPED, THIS AMBER LAGER GOES DOWN SMOOTH. Travis was our kind expert server tonight and also apparently one of the owners. From what I gather Travis and Garth are the proprietors of this fine well executed establishment. Sort of sounds like a country and western duo. But actually, now that I think about it, I'm not certain they aren't? We had a nice chat and Travis was very gracious and told us the intriguing story about how they came up with the name "QUAIL" so be sure to ask, I can only assume he'll indulge you as well. The back room changes from time to time depending on what art show is up. It's a very cozy comfortable spot and nicely decorated. The entire concept is brilliant, right down to the "merch" for sale and expertly curated interior design. This is an elevated scene for Temecula. I'm digging it big-time. I wonder if they ever have a DJ spinning in there or a jazz trio in the back room or something, that would be pretty groovy. Great spot to grab a drink! Service 5/5 -The staff behind the bar is really friendly and welcoming and gives good recommendations!!! Ambiance -inside and outside it's beautiful. If you're in the mood for some fresh air the outside setting is nice but inside is also! Food/drinks -They have variety of beers and wines. And some food items to snack on. What really sets this place apart is how nice and welcoming they are!!! The staff is awesome! This place is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

This place in old town is a hidden gem. I came in with a friend to grab a drink and this place was perfect for that. We went in when it wasn't too busy yet. But as we stayed longer, it started to get busier. The bartender that served us was really nice and helpful in picking a good beer to drink. My friend likes pilsners and I like wheat beer and they definitely had both. There are small bites but we ended up getting chips and salsa. I was surprised by the price but then got a big container of salsa. It was a really nice and modern place to drink. I like the back room but my friend and I drank outside in the patio since it was a nice day. There is lots of seating outside for big groups, inside looks pretty small but has that extra back room. Overall, I would definitely come back and have another drink and hang out.

Excellent service and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The whole place has a great vibe. They had tacos by Don Pancho's Taquiza, I ended up getting a quesadillas that were so good they were gone before I remembered to take a picture. The soccer game was on, the customers were friendly and the servers were engaging and attentive. They also have a small bites which is a nice bonus. We especially enjoyed the plant swap and the outdoor seating area. Between the food, the people and the atmosphere, this is definitely a spot worth checking out. The whole space is a vibe

Been going to quail for the past year now they have the best beers available on tap and in can from all over always have the newest beers you can't find anywhere else I visit at least 2-3 times a week I can say I am a huge fan of this place Travis and Chris usually serve me the most and they're super chill super knowledgeable and I can crack jokes with them and relax here definitely a hidden gem of Temecula the rest of the staff I've met so far and are all pretty sweet here too I'm not the best with names but shout out to the whole quail crew! Definitely recommend 10/10 service and ambiance much love

Absolutely loved this spot! The moody ambiance and fun wine bar/beer garden vibe were perfect for our anniversary. The bartender was so nice, welcoming, and accommodating, which made the experience even better. Such a cute place to hang out, sip on something good, and enjoy the atmosphere. Came to the Soft Opening on Friday night, as I found out about this cute hipster bar via one of the owners of this place -during class @ the local Home Yoga Studio! The Grand Opening is actually this weekend (Sat 9/16-Sun 9/17), so this was a test run. Super success- as I could tell a crowd was bustling. My partner tried the craft beers, & I loved that they had wines from local favorites such as Akash Winery + Peltzer. Since they just opened, they don't have regular snacks/appetizers yet, but tonight they had sushi from another restaurant if you wanted to try some grub with your drinks. Beautiful artwork on the wall, and easy to walk up and order from the bar. We joined our fellow yogis on the patio & congratulated our friend for the soft opening success! There is also a back room that they will eventually create a more intimate space for those who want to gather away from the crowd. Indoor seating options also available when you walk in. I always love supporting local businesses, & it's exciting to see this from the inception; Can't wait to return & try other drink varietals. [PS- this isn't visible from Front Street. It's behind Small Barn & located in the same building with The Gambling Cowboy but to the left on the ground floor. It will be a well-kept secret until word gets out :) ] Also, they are kid and /or dog-friendly which is good to know, especially if you are in Old Town with your furry baby & want some quality sips. A gem of a location in old town Temecula. It is a spot to unwind, relax, and grab yourself some local wine, draft beer and a variety of rotating selection of cans and bottles, featuring a variety of California breweries (got info from website). Check the website for future events and features businesses that range from music to other eatery businesses. Meanwhile catch yourself getting some bites of empanadas and a charcuterie platter. This place use to be the previous cheese place that provided music and entertainment and other things that Quail now offers and then some! The vibe is kick-back, loungey, relaxing and more the mature audience with a taste of class, hip, yet modern eclectic atmosphere fit for your local wine to beer connoisseurs. Stopped by for a friend's birthday and was eagerly excited to try some brewskis and there was a lot to choose from. I just finished bbqing at the crib and was looking for what i call "dessert beers". Check out my photos for pictures of the inside and outside interior and exterior decor. Environment and bar tender is straight money. This is a place to stop by to grab some appetizers and some drinky dranks before heading out straight to dinner or partying in Temecula. Or check the schedule of the eventful nights which I plan to go back and partake in the festivities. It is a place to relax and unwind as much as you can great for locals and tourists alike. The location is in old town surrounded by other restaurants and eateries. If you want to start a pub crawl this would be the first stop in my opinion. Beautiful remodel of an old hangout spot in the same building as the Gambling Cowboy. Perfect stop for a few glasses of wine (they also serve beer and snacks) if you're waiting on a dinner reservation anywhere in Old Town or to spend a whole evening. Live music on the outdoor patio and a back room with a speakeasy feel. Great place to bring a crowd. Highly recommend. read more

My husband and I stopped in at Quail during our mini vacay out here in Temecula. Travis and Garth were such incredible business owners. We initially stopped in to just hang out for an hour or two but we ended up staying for a few hours just chatting it up with both of them about their business. They have immense pride of ownership, and we got to see local vendors come in and the amazing relationships they have with them. They pride themselves on incorporating other small businesses in the area as well. They offer both beer and wine selections from local breweries/wineries, as well as an awesome salsa and home made tortilla to snack on. The next day they had the local ice cream shop in for an ice cream and beer pairing. Super bummed we couldn't attend, but if you're in the area please stop in. The place itself was beautiful, very simple yet elegant decor. These guys have a great thing going here and I hope to be back very soon. They also have awesome merch - we grabbed a hoodie that's super great quality. Thanks for the hospitality guys! read more

History

Established in 2023.

Quail’s story starts when Travis was managing a local brewery and Garth was peddling graphic design services to the craft beer industry. A friendship formed over good beer, shared music interests, and entrepreneurial fantasies. After months of research and planning to start a craft brewery were dashed by reality, the Temecula Valley Cheese Company abruptly shuttered its doors. A quick call followed by a lunch meeting set the wheels in motion. Keys were acquired on June 1, 2023, and the doors opened to the public on September 15 of the same year. As for the name — we get asked this question a lot. After shooting down several options, we landed on Quail and knew it was the one. Quail are abundant in the Temecula Valley, and the name captures the Old Town and Southern California vibe perfectly — welcoming, lively, and communal. We built Quail to be a place where friends gather, conversations flow, and everyone feels like a regular. We hope you enjoy Quail as much as we do.

Although it arrived closer to well-done than the rare temperature I ordered, it was still tasty. The Not So Good: The restaurant was not particularly busy, yet it took quite a while to get served. We were only able to place our initial drink order after repeatedly trying to get the bartender's attention. Unfortunately, this became the theme of the evening. Even though guests around us appeared to be receiving regular service, we often felt invisible. When we finally got the bartender's attention to order beers, she hurried away before we could place our food order. It took additional time and more attempts to flag her down before we could order dinner. When the burger arrived overcooked, I couldn't even mention it because our server never checked on us or asked how the food was. Throughout the evening, I had to flag down other staff members just to request another beer or refill our water. Our server/bartender finally acknowledged the issue only after we spoke with another staff member about both the overcooked burger and the lack of service. To her credit, she offered to comp the burger. I initially declined but later accepted because it was nowhere near the temperature I had ordered. Despite the disappointing service, I still left a standard tip. I also told her it was a shame because we live right around the corner and had been excited to try this place. We were hoping it could become our regular Friday-night spot and somewhere we could bring friends and neighbors who enjoy good food and drinks. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I don't think we'll be coming back.
