Good upscale Asian restaurant- Highly suggest ordering multiple starters and sharing. Liked that they had a lunch menu but it was pricey for lunch on weekday. Food and service were both good! Not sure I'll return very soon but was very happy with the meal. read more

The food was amazing and the service was great. The restaurant had a very eclectic vibe to it. The truffle rice is incredible and pairs well with the Salmon with the turmeric sauce. The honey Akashi beef was also incredible. The soup dumplings are to die for. read more

You know that place that's been on your list to try and you go with meh expectations and take no photos, yep this is it. I've been wanting to try Qi and let's be honest there are so many restaurants in Austin that it just never happened. It was a group date night and they wanted Asian food, so let's make reservations. This was an absolute win!! Ample parking garages in the area to start and an overall great location. Food: Soup Dumplings - 10/10 I'm still dreaming of the amazing dumplings that I couldn't wait to devour so burned the h&@@ out of my mouth - BUT IT WAS WORTH IT! Lobster Dumplings - 5/10 - I'd skip, didn't love the taste Potstickers - 7/10 great presentation Truffle Rice - 8/10 Egg rolls - 7/10 Hakka veggie noodles - 10/10 so many delicious veggies and so much flavor Seafood Delight - 7/10 basically it's a seafood curry that paired great with the truffle rice Asian Fried Chicken - 5/10 if you're looking for a battered fried chicken, this ain't it. Think crispy unbreaded chicken that could use a sauce or two Overall, great experience. Great atmosphere. Great cocktails. And great company. I'll be back! read more

A delicious spot for Chinese food! Out of the dim sum, my friends and I ordered the Qi Soup Dumplings and Roasted Duck Pancake. The soup dumplings tasted so authentic and came with a side of a chili/vinegar sauce that you could add to taste. The roasted duck pancake was even more yummy with its crispy yet soft and chewy texture. The duck itself was very flavorful as well. Of the soups, we ordered both the Hot and Sour Soup and Egg Drop Corn Soup. If you're a corn girl, you will LOVE the egg drop soup. It's light but packed with corn flavor and corn pieces. The hot and sour soup was my favorite of the two though. It was tangy and packed the right amount of spicy heat. For our main, we ordered both the Truffle Egg Fried Rice and Honey Akaushi Beef. You HAVE to order the truffle fried rice if you're dining here! It's got this umami flavor to it that was light yet savory at the same time. Debated on ordering a second bowl to take home! Overall, a very solid place for an upscale Chinese dining experience. read more

Finally made it to Qi while visiting Austin. Lovely grandiose interior (Modern Asian). We were greeted and sat right away (it's first come, first served). Our waiter was very attentive, and well versed with the menu which was very helpfully. The menu is family style (Sharable entrees). We started with the soup dumplings which were so yummy. Then we had the pan seared chicken dumplings (very satisfying). The salt and pepper lobster was simply delicious and decadent. The same chicken was delightful and the honey beef was pure perfection. It was three of us and we were stuff. Cocktails are wonderful. My only gripe were the desserts. With what we ate for dinner we thought we were going to impressed by our desserts. Wrong. Presentation was nice but taste totally missed its target. Not moist or rich at all. Very lackluster and tastes like it came out of a box. But I will come back to eat and for cocktails for sure. read more

We had their Dim Sum brunch...excellent! I loved the potato and shrimp balls. There are so many dishes to choose from. Everything is really good and cooked fresh to order. I had to try their chicken feet...not a fan but I couldn't resist the experience. There's no real meat on chicken feet so it's deep fried skin, bone, and gristle but that's to be expected. The service was great and I loved the decor. Lots of Asian folks in there so that's always a good recommendation for an Asian restaurant. read more

Qi is an awesome vibe and really good for a large party if needed. Located in a cool part of downtown it is great spot if you are looking to go out afterwards. This latest trip I was with about 14 people for a birthday party and we sat close to the entrance at a long table which was relatively private and nice. The dumplings were delicious and flavorful but were really missing a ponzu or dipping sauce. My entree the honey beef was pretty good but I found myself underwhelmed with how much steak was included. The sauce was pretty sweet, verging on too sweet but overall yummy. I probably wouldn't order my entree again but it was still pretty good. Service was solid for such a large a party and multiple people in our group said the dumplings they got were some of the best they have had. Certainly want to give this place another shot in the future considering this. read more

Delicious dim sum spot for date night or with friends! We found this place on yelp as a recommended asian dining spot and it definitely did not disappoint. My bf got the gold digger cocktail which was delicious, and for food we ordered the Qi Soup Dumplings, Basil Chicken Dumplings, Pan Fried Beef Bao, and Hot n Sour Soup. Everything came out piping hot and was really yummy. This place puts a twist on traditional dim sum in a good way! I liked the unique flavors and appreciated the fusion -- just noting this as a heads up so you don't go into the meal thinking it will be a traditional experience. Our waitress was super kind and also brought out the Mushroom Chicken Sui Mai, which were also incredibly moist and fabulous. Overall I would definitely recommend this spot!! read more

I am unsure as to a review of Qi as a vegan. Nothing is marked vegan on the menu, although our waitress said there were a few things that could be made vegan. We were told the fried & steamed dumplings, scallion pancake, and tofu/rice dish were all vegan, but Im just not sure as our waitress seemed a bit confused at times would really be nice to mark items as vegan on the menu, especially for allergy sensitivities. I did think everything was delicious though and very creative. read more

This place was highly rated when I was looking for a dm sum spot in Austin. It was also highly recommended by a friend as well to stop by try. Glad we listened and decided to come. So let's get this review started. Ambience: The place was very modern looking and especially the decor inside. I loved how it looked. Beautifully designed and pretty dark inside. The seating arrangement was sort of bunched together a bit. Oh my... the chairs were really exquisite. It was comfy but also the design was pretty nice. I just really loved their decor. Service: We went when it just opened, so it wasn't that bad. You could make a reservation ahead of time, but it wasn't necessary at the time we went. We were greeted by the host and then seated at a table when we entered. Our waitress was really lovely too. She was wonderful and helpful as well. She was a real delight. The way to order here is almost like a typical dim sum place. They give you a set menu and then you basically just mark down how many orders you want on the menu. Food came out pretty fast as soon as you place your order on the paper. So it wasn't that long of a wait to fill our bellies. Food: Oh the food! What can I say about the food. Absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed every dish that we ordered. We also ordered the typical items that we usually order at dim sum. Luckily they had the items we always ordered. Their menu for dim sum was a bit restricted, but it still had a good amount of variety to it. We ordered harrow, xis mai, bbq buns, custard buns and a lobster filled dumpling I believe. We got that one because it was in the shape of a rabbit. Very cute! We left here with full and satisfied. Would we come again? Probably if we come back to Austin to visit. read more

This restaurant has really yummy, cute food, mice devor and ambiance, and friendly staff. You can ask the waiter for what vegan options they have as they don't have a dedicated vegan menu, but can definitely male accomodations. If you're looking for some up-scale Chinese food, Qi can certainly hit the spot. First of all, the ambience is really nice. Note that you'll probably need a reservation ahead of time. But if you are a party of 1 or 2, there's almost always immediate seating at the bar or area in front of the kitchen. I haven't tried everything off their menu, but there are some major hits everyone should try: Basil Chicken Dumplings - For a dish that frankly sounds unassuming, these dumplings are a knockout. Must try if you want dumplings. The sauce that comes with it enhances it to another level. Shrimp Har Gow - These are just done really well. The shrimp inside tastes fantastic and the texture of outer starchy skin is amazing. Probably the best Har Gow I've tried. Honey Akaushi Beef - WOW. If there is anything that makes Qi deserving of the 5 star review, it is this dish here. I have never had anything like this. The beef is cooked so perfectly, with a nice outer crust. Once you bite into it, it is like an explosion of delicious beef flavor. And the sauce is this well balanced mixing of honey and pepper that hits all the senses. My parents visited me in Austin and they were so impressed by this dish as well. My only gripe with this restaurant is their pekin duck entree. Everything tasted great, but they only provided ~3-4 bao to make your duck "tacos." And if you want more, you have to pay $1.50 for each extra bao! I'm not sure why they are nickle-and-diming so hard for this bread. Other Chinese restaurants give plenty. read more

For me, Qi is a great spot for a variety of Dim Sum small plates, shareable entrees, and a cozy / dimly lit evening out. I definitely recommend their house special soup dumplings, truffle fried rice, and the whole fish (photo attached). The presentation, portion sizes, and quality of food do not disappoint. I think it's a great spot for a date night, evening with colleagues/clients, or any time you want to splurge or impress. Christmas day Dim sum was an experience here.. beautifully decadent & well-appointed dining room exceeded expectations for this Lin-related concept. The foods we ordered were varied, but I would say I like 1618 better at (generally better) price points. Loved the upside-down Japanese umbrellas on the ceiling á la Lin! They even have cool Japanese bidet toilets in the bathrooms! Beautiful menu-based dim sum was still an upscale experience overall, and we had a great server who kept our tables (and glasses) full. My picky 7 year old lleven foubd something he loved-- the snow crab balls! I'd come back here to try more of the menu, for sure. read more

Came here for a work dinner the other night. We ordered quite a bit and tasted a bunch. The drinks were cute, but I couldn't taste any alcohol (not bad) but I had two cocktails and didn't even feel a buzz. The staff was attentive and kind, ensuring to help get our drinks and food to us. The inside was so cute. I really enjoyed the decor and ambiance of it all along with the Christmas theme. The beef wasn't my favorite, and the fried rice was good. The soup dumplings I think were the best and didn't rip or anything when picking up. We'd come back if invited, but don't think I'd go out of my way to visit again. read more

The atmosphere, service, and food are wonderful. My family ate here our last night of vacation in Austin. We ordered soup dumplings as they were one of the items this restaurant was known for. We also ordered ha cao and siu mai, which our baby also enjoyed. The alligator was an interesting menu item that we had to try. We all enjoyed it. The sweet honey beef and the rainbow beef were good as well. They're both similar, so I would order one or the other and not both the way we did. My husband got a cocktail that was also good. This is definitely a restaurant we would go back to. read more

We have tried other Chef Ling restaurants around Austin and loved this one just as much. Went there for lunch on Monday and it wasn't crowded. Atmosphere is a feast for the eyes, and love being able to see into the kitchen. Highly recommend Qi for a great dining experience. read more

Good food, not especially great, but good. WAY overpriced though. Location is good too. Service is decent.

Amazing dim sum and great service! On the pricier side, but one of the best dim sum places I've been to all year.. Fresh ingredients, a dash of fusion, piping hot when it comes out, with more that I haven't tried yet. Crab meat fish maw soup couplings - skin is on the thicker side, filling juicy and tender. Only complaint I have was that they didn't give me a soup spoon or extra bowls to eat this without spilling the juice. Pork and shrimp sui mai - very fresh with good consistency. Scallop caviar siu mai - amazingly good! 3 for $15 is a bit higher than the 5 for $12 normal siu mai, but flavor, texture (it was all mixed together, and not a normal siu mai with a scallop on top), juiciness exceeded my expectations. This siu mai was one of the best Ive had. Scallion pancake curry dip - I like the concept and the strong onion flavor in the pancake, but I don't think the concept was executed very well. The pancake is on the smaller size and the curry is more liquid, so dipping it is very light, vs what you might get in a burmese paratha with coconut curry dip. Crispy chicken turnover - They look like little mice, with the outsides having a mochi consistency and insides being on the salty savory side. Really well done and highly recommended! Shrimp stuffed chinese eggplant - This was more of a shrimp on top of an eggplant.. Shrimp was very tender with good flavor. I liked the overall consistency of the dish, but would recommend giving it a min to cool down before starting. Egg custard tart - very well executed with nice flavor, and extra flaky crust. It was more on the yellow side, and I personally would have preferred a little bit of a burn on the top. The one dish I would not recommend is the stir fried potato glass noodle. For $19 its on the larger side, and its 100% carbs, so good value, but on the drier side and way too much to eat. read more

After trying Lin, we had to try the sister restaurant Qi. Located near Whole Foods downtown and not to far from Lin. They have their own garage so parking was easy. We decided to try our luck again and did a walk-in. Would definitely recommend you make reservations though. After a small wait we were seated at the bar. The place had beauty decorations everywhere from lanterns and umbrellas to robes and glass sculptures. One thing that stood out to me was the signed bottle of wine near the front of the entrance. Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez! Our Baristas were Minh and "Rabbit". Not sure if they were just playing with us since it's the year of the Rabbit/Cat, but it was funny. They had a special Lunar new year drink menu. Tried both the Red Envelope and the Jade Rabbit. Both were beautiful and delicious and had gold flakes. We also tried a couple normal menu drinks Watermelon Cooler and Honey Cider. Both were very refreshing. For appetizers we ordered the Crab Meat Corn Soup and Scallop Caviar Sui Mai Dumplings. The soup rich and the Crab delicious. The dumplings were delightful. They looked so good, I didn't give them a little time to cool before gobbling them up. Both our entrees were beef protein. The Honey Akaushi Beef and Rainbow Akaushi Beef were cooked beautifully. They both had a nice crispy sear on the beef and flavorful sauce. After trying Lin, Qi did not disappoint. Fun servers and delicious food is always a great combination. Two thumbs up! read more

Qi is such an experience! The ambiance is classy, open and stunning. I am now a regular and go every special occasion. Their quality and service is always top tier. I would only suggest their dim sum though, especially if you are very familiar with Chinese food. What I love about this place, not only has a great ambience, cocktails, or solid, and food is flavorful. Please get the lychee martini, and watermelon, tequila cocktail, but replace it with Mezcal, it elevates the cocktail with the smokiness. Trust me. Whether it's for date night, or a family meal, this place has the right flavors for you. Great appetizers with some soup dumplings, and wide selection of entrées (definitely recommend the truffle fried rice). The truffle fried rice is perfectly seasoned, fluffy, flavorful and just melts in your mouth. We came here last minute, sat at the bar and they were able to accommodate us within 15 minutes. Hope to come back to try more dishes. Giving it four stars as I feel it's slightly overpriced for the taste and flavor. read more

The food here is amazing and well worth the price. Arrived here on a Friday night at 6 pm. I could have made reservations prior but I didn't know if I would be craving dim sum at the time so decided to wing it. Well I was, and me and my girlfriend were not disappointed with the food. The Shanghai sound dumplings arrived with better presentation than I would expect for soup dumplings. The broth was rich and complimented the soft ground pork inside the dumpling. I decided I was in AUSTIN TX and wanted to try something different, and got the alligator nuggets. It was like chicken but not tiring. Almost as if the fat was embedded into the fibers to keep it from becoming dry. My girlfriend didn't shut up about alligator tasting so good so that's how I knew the food had made the top of the list. The truffle rice was amazing. I dont usually expect much from rice. It even Had a thinly sliced piece of truffle on top. My mouth watered. I didn't care for the noodles I ordered but what's a meal without noodles? I'm glad we took a chance and came here despite almost being turned away from a fully booked restaurant. When we arrived they looked at us crazy for not having reservations. We sat at the countertops watching the cooks make the dumplings. After an hour and ten minutes of eating, the restaurant was still half empty. Maybe confirm your reservations before immediately offering us the counters. The inside was nice, hell I even took photos of the bathroom because the toilet seat would automatically open. Last time I saw these was at a Japanese Hyatt regency. read more

Great spot. Great food presented in a unique, thought-provoking manner that tingles the senses and check all the boxes.

Qi's is an upscale dim sum and Chinese cuisine restaurant. Not only is the decor beautiful, but the food and service was good as well. The interior of Qi's is nicely decorated with a mix of modern and traditional. The service was phenomenal! The servers consistently checked up on us throughout the time and were very attentive, and after being seated, they pass out intricate designed plates and small bowls. I ordered the Shanghai soup dumplings, shrimp hargow, vegetable steamed dumplings, pan akaushi beef potstickers, sesame chicken, and the salt and pepper tofu. Dim Sum: The Shanghai soup dumplings tasted delicious and creamy with just the right amount of soup and were my favorite. The shrimp hargow was plump and had a huge shrimp. The pan akaushi came nicely decorated. The steamed vegetable dumplings were my least favorite. They tasted very strong of something earthy and bitter. I do not recommend getting them. Other Food: The sesame chicken was good but tasted more generic. The salt and pepper tofu were pretty good, but I wish the outside were more crispy. Overall, the ambiance is nice, and the food is good with superb service. read more

My daughter treated her boyfriend and I to Qi Austin to celebrate my 10 year work anniversary. This is the second of Chef Ling's restaurants we've tried. We're big fans of Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum so we had high expectations of Qi. I wasn't expecting the restaurant to be inside an office building, but having such convenient on sight parking for a downtown restaurant was a serious plus. Walking into the restaurant was transporting because the interior contrasted completely with the surrounding building. The restaurant has warm wood finishes and fixtures that give a sense of being in a tea house or old fashioned study. The tables and chairs are heavy but comfortable. My daughter and I both noted that the chopsticks were really nice (I'd buy a few sets in a heartbeat). We took some time to decide on drinks and our appetizers. The waiter didn't seem to mind the delay. The food is served family style with rice being extra. This meant we could try more things. The first thing that came out were our Shanghai soup dumplings. They have tiny little bowls on the table to help you eat your soup dumpling which is incredibly useful because these are very juicy dumplings. They were the best soup I've had in Austin, even better than the ones I had at Lin Asian Bar. We each ordered the crab meat corn soup. I didn't get any crab in my first couple of bites, but noticed the crab flavor in the soup base. My next bite did have a large piece of lump crab meat that was perfectly balanced with the pop of corn. The pan seared basil chicken dumplings came out next we tried them both with and without the dipping sauce. To me, these thin-skin dumplings had a perfect combination of crisp and chewy with a subtle basil flavor. For our entree we ordered the Akaushi Beef and the Truffle Egg Fried Rice. The rice made it to our table first so we all took a spoonful to taste it and were surprised at the depth of the truffle flavor. We probably shouldn't have been since there was actual shaved truffle on top. And don't misunderstand me this was not the overwhelming can't get it out of your pallet truffle flavor. You sometimes get when somebody tosses truffle oil into some thing. This was a deep earthiness in the fried rice that elevated it to another level. I'm not entirely certain which beef dish we got because the names aren't ringing a bell and I know the one that we got had a type of honey in the sauce. Because when we ate some beef with a bite of the rice, all I could think was that the honey and the earthiness of the truffle were a great counter balance to each other. I want to experience Chef Ling's third restaurant but will probably make my way back to Qi to try more of the menu at this wonderful restaurant first. read more

If you want upscale Asian food, this is the spot. All the dishes I ordered here were delicious, and after finishing each dish, I wanted more. The dim sum selections were fantastic and all super tasty. I enjoyed the pan-fried dumplings, which came with an extra crispy bit on the bottom, which was perfect. Their Peking duck was also quite delicious; however, each order only came with 3 bao which is not enough for all the duck! The desserts had their unique twist and were a great way to close out an amazing dinner. Undoubtedly, this is on the expensive side of Asian food, and the portions are on the small side. However, I do highly recommend Qi, and I will be here again for amazing dim sum! read more
