There was a very long hair in mine and my boyfriends bowl today.... perhaps a hair net should be used.

Only difference between Rosa's and Taco Villa is the Facility, the "Dine In" experience you get when you, well, "Dine In". Their places are pretty nice when you go in to dine. Drive Thru though Rosa's is just another Taco Villa.(But, considering how stupid Taco Villa has gotten with their pricing, Rosa's food is OK for the price you pay) I have no issues with the Food, you get what you pay for. Never had issues with the one on Milwaukee, the one on 82nd, but finally tried the one on 130th because the one on 82nd doesn't do the breakfast menu. Plus, I had to run out to Slaton to pick up something, so I thought why not give their breakfast a try. (I go out to Slaton down Woodrow Rd, not Slaton Hwy) This is what I got. Chirizo and Potato Burrito/Taco. Almost $8 for both of these. Got them to go, through the Drive Thru, so I didn't really know what I got until I got home. Looked in Bag Yes to make sure there was 2 in there. Bag felt heavy too. Got home to reheat them before eating. Anybody care to point out where the Chirizo is? I mean, C'mon Rosa's, this was a ripoff. I could have done this myself at home with a little Chirizo grease, 1/2 a small potato, 2 small Tortilla's. Maybe $1.62 in ingredients at HEB. Mi Terra's down on 82nd and Slide has a Chirizo and Potato "Burrito" the size of both these "Taco's" together STUFFED with Chirizo Sausage for $6.50. And I paid almost $8 for this? You can do better. Do better. But, lesson learned on my part for thinking I could get a decent Chirizo Taco out in South Lubbock, anywhere South of the Loop. (Mi Terra's is OK, for $6) AND at Rosa's at that too. Besides Mi Terra every once in a while, I'm going to stick to 34th Street, East 50th for my Chirizo desires, needs. Two Stars over One Star though. Only reason, Rosa's is good for cheap fast crappy Mexican Food for when you want to "Dine" out on a budget. I'll "Sit" in a Rosa's restaurant long before I ever sit in a Taco Villa. Even with the "Food" being the same quality.

The cheese in the enchiladas was not melted. It was still hard. Sad. This restaurant could be a gold mine considering we don't have any restaurants on this side of town. Now I know why they didn't have many customers.

The meal includes a roll and a drink (which the Coke Zero (coming from a drink fountain machine) which was very strong! Which I loved!). Let me break this down to you: I ate the grilled version of the fish and shrimp. It was not greasy, nor salty, and had a side of perfectly grilled bell peppers and onions that complemented the seafood so well. The fries were incredibly flavorful, and it was enough to share with 4 people. The Cole slaw was the best that I've had from any restaurant. It was a wet version that was semi-sweet and had a great crunch to it. The beans and rice tasted very homemade. It is the definition of southern comfort food. The only thing I would suggest is that I wish that the beans and the rice were cooked a littler softer. But the flavor and the presentation of this side is awesome! The tartar sauce is an orange color and reminds me of a Cajun version of tartar sauce. It went very well with the fish and the fries. Overall, my first experience was unforgettable. It was enough food to share with roughly 3 to 4 people. The price was very reasonable and again, the service was top tier. I will definitely be returning and recommending this place to all my loved ones. I give a 5 out of 5 just for the customer service, alone.

Great home cooking! Their fried fish was just like I like it. Good value for family dining.read more
