You don't care. Point is: I had time to kill and there isn't much in that strip mall. So, I went into Q Nails, where I got a friendly greeting. Yelled from across the room, but still, very friendly. I asked if they could do a walk-in face wax. They said go on back to that room. I did. It was very small. Which wasn't a problem for me since I was lying on the table, but she was must have been pinched in there. She didn't chat. Personally, I love that. She could read that I wasn't chatty, so there was no chatting. Eyebrows, upper lip: Damn near perfect. The eyebrows were a little thinner than I usually like, but it's kinda hard to explain how thick you like your eyebrows. But they match and they don't make me look quizzical, so I am a happy camper. And then it only cost $15. Though, you can't put the tip on the credit card. There was a different lady at the front counter when I paid. Since my nails were in desperate need of attention, I needed to go to the closest place ppossible. So I called and a bored voice picked up. She was very disrespectful and inconsiderate. I let that slide because it was an emergency. I went in and was greeted warmly. Terry did my nails and she was great! She took her time and started the conversation. The best nails in Lake County - possibly IL. I moved back to the state after 10 yrs and after several visits to other salons took a risk on Q nails and couldn't be happier. My old nails were taken off (they were in bad shape) a new set was put on, shaped and painted in a timely manor. Shammara was lovely, professional and shaped (I'm very particular about the shape) my nails perfectly. I couldn't recommend this salon more. I waited a couple days to take pics to exhibit the polish didn't chip nor the nails lift or break. So blessed the search is over. read more

I had a very horrible experience here! I first walked in and noticed how chaotic it was. I wasn't told anything for a sold 10-15 min until my friend told me to sit in a chair (a worker must've told her to tell me). I waited a couple more minutes until asked what I wanted. I asked for a NO-CHIP FILL FOR ACRYLICS. The guy noticed I had ombré nails and told me the fill in powder would be a different color but that it wouldn't be noticeable once painted with nail polish. He was putting a layer of acrylic powder on each nail and I knew it looked off because he didn't even bother to make them thin!!! They're so chunky and thick I didn't say anything because I thought he knew what he was doing. Of course I noticed how messy and not neat my nails were so I asked him if he could clean my cuticles and such (I never had to ask for this before! It's ridiculous). And guess what he refused to do it! He didn't even acknowledge I said it, they look bad clearly and he says they're fine. I then again remind him once he's about to start painting my nails and he just grabs a cuticle pusher... he doesn't do anything but just run it around my nails... NOTHING WAS CHANGED OR DONE TO THEM. He paints my nails and I notice he is going outside the lines and the paint looks uneven and chunky. He messes up my thumb and grabs the cuticle pusher and pushes up the paint! It leaves a mark and he thinks I don't notice & then proceeds to paint over it. Making it thicker. I even asked for no chip gel which he clearly didn't give to me because the next day my thumb nail polish completely peeled off and 2 days later my nail has came off! I will be coming back for a refund but have not had the time since I am busy with work and school. Super unprofessional and unpleasant business given to me. I paid $35 dollar for this mess!!!! I paid and left because my friend invited me and she had things to do after or else I would have talked to them about it or had my nails fixed. read more

I went there because my normal place was closed for remodeling. I called and asked for a no chip polish change. I was told they wouldn't do that and I "had" to get a full no chip manicure. Ok, fine. I sat with "Red". She was a little rough and distracted by her constant incoming cell phone calls. She acknowledged "nipping me" and that my finger would probably "be a little sore". My finger was indeed "sore" for about 1 week, by the second week the "soreness" turned to horrific pain. My finger swelled and eventually my whole hand swelled. I went to the doctor, to find I had a raging infection where she "nipped me". I can only assume the tools were not sterilized. I have been nicked a few times over the course of 15 years of getting my nails done. I have NEVER gotten an infection as I did from this visit. I don't know that I will get a manicure again, and I most definitely will NOT ever go to this place again. The doctor had to put needles underneath my finger nail to release the pressure from the infection - to relieve the incredible pain I was in. The pain was so bad I couldn't type, put gloves on or hold anything in my right hand (where the infection was). I don't suggest anyone, epecially small kids or young people go there, because they might ignore the signs of an infection - not realizing that is what they have. read more

I was not happy with the girl that had previously done my nails at a different, yet closer to home, salon. I walked in to this salon for the first time not knowing anyone or anything about it ... pretty chancy, but I figured it couldn't be any worse that I had experienced before. I was greeted by a gentleman and a quiet girl named Red gave me a full set of nails. I was absolutely, pleasantly surprised. I told her what shape I wanted my nails and she did it perfectly. I told her that I wanted them thin, and so they wouldn't "catch " when they grew out, not too much on the cuticle -again perfectly done (just returned from my 2nd appointment.) Today we are under a winter storm warning, but I managed to get to the salon for a fill even tho I could have gone to a salon MUCH closer to home ... what girls will do to be beautiful. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that I wanted to get my eyebrows done as well, but there was only one girl doing them and she was busy with a pedicure. I recommend the shop and I highly recommend Red. read more

Thought I would show some love for Q Nails. I go here each month to get a pedi...and sometimes a mani if time permits. You cannot beat the price and they have nice chairs (actually just got new ones...not that the old ones were bad.). $25 for a pedi or $35 for mani/pedi. They do a great job....really. They also do waxing and other spa treatments. Oh, I should also mention they do a wonderful salt scrub with their pedi!! Love it! read more

Q Nails is a great salon. I have been coming here regularly for awhile now, and really like all the technicians. It is spotlessly clean, and I have never been disappointed in my gel manicure, or pedicures. I was especially impressed that when I came in last time for another gel manicure, Morgan told me I should not get one, but should instead let my nails rest for a couple of weeks. She gave me a manicure with clear regular polish, and in a couple of weeks I'll start back up with the gel. My nail health was a priority for her, which is impressive. Absolutely LOVE coming in to get pampered by WENDY! She's totally awesome at her craft very dedicated and attentive to each and every detail. She's really excellent at ALL that she does especially the foot massage! pedicures manicures nail art and the magic she does to my eyebrows. The entire shop is CLEAN and very sanitary something I always notice when I'm there is the way they clean and sanitize after each client. I have come here now on three different occasions. In the past I have only come for a pedicure, and for that service I have been moderately satisfied. Not the greatest pedicure ever but certainly not the worst. However yesterday I came here for a no-chip manicure and I am highly disappointed. First off my nails were nice and beautifully long and ready for an excellent mani, the girl cut my nails down so short that when she filed them she was literally filing the tips of my fingers! Now today my nails are SO short and my fingers hurt because of how short they are! Also, my entire fingernail is not covered by the polish. I have gone in three times in a row now, and each time I have needed to go back in for a repair for my no-chip manicure. The third time, the technician didn't even use base coat, so they peeled off within a day. As I told the male owner that they were peeling, he told his technician "then let her peel them all off for you" and made me peel my own polish off, rather than let the technician use acetone for the remaining nails. Red tried to be as helpful as possible, but her boss ruined my experience. It's not my fault he hires inexperienced technicians and doesn't keep up with their training. read more

I've never had bad service here. Wendy is extremely friendly and great at her job! I also went to Q Nails on New Years Day, and they had limited hours because of the holiday. They work to get full parties serviced together. They also let you know if there is going to be a wait, they only tell you to come back the next day if the wait will be longer than they are open. My no-chip manicure last for three weeks!!! I love this place and make a drive just to go here for the service and the friendly staff! read more

The salon was not crowded in the least; plenty of technicians sitting in the back eating, not worried about the customers that were waiting to get a service. Place is not clean. Opposite actually. If I could give Q nails a 0 for the service I just received from this salon I would. I went in for a manicure, it was a total of ten minutes for my nails....did I mention that my nails are missing nail polish on them, one has bumps because she didn't clean my nails off after she filed them. She was going to fix one that she saw was missing paint on the side, but went to eat her dinner instead. I walked out, could not believe the way my nails look right now. I will never go back to this nail salon again, I will continue to drive a distance and pay the extra $3 dollars for a manicure in a friendly, CLEAN environment. I think what started it off bad was the fact that the salon has no nail polish selection and while I was trying to pick a color, I turned to see that the nail tech rolled their eyes..I must have been taking too long. I think what was taking me so long, was I wanted to run for the door because it looks like they haven't cleaned the salon in 10 years. Between the dirty floors, work areas that need to be dusted and wiped off, the dirty cuticle lotion bottle with crust on it, the pealing paint on the light switches, oh and yes the dirt on the walls. Funny how you made such a horrible review, and according to your statement, you wanted to run for the door..... what stopped you? Let me start with the "peeling paint" on the light switches and the dirt on the walls, so FALSE and a lie, the salon was recently repainted a few months ago before November. You seem to HATE the village of Gurnee, you hate the Gurnee Starbucks too in your 4 YELP reviews. Here's my question, if they did such a horrible job, why didn't you ask for the owner/manager before you left? That's what an "adult" would do. But, instead, you decide to go on YELP and write what you did. According to your profile, you made a wonderful review of a salon in Lake Bluff the next day, did you go there to have your nails redone or do you work there? Just my opinion, if you are unhappy with a service, ANY service, instead of leaving and hiding behind a keyboard to bash a business on the internet, address the situation with the business, maybe they would appreciate the constructive comments. I have been going to QNails for 8 years, they are a wonderful salon with long time employees, they are family owned. I would roll my eyes at you too. If you were at a restaurant and were served an "off" $12 meal, would you mention it to your server? Im sure you would, then why wouldn't you mention it to the owner of QNails. If you choose to walk out of any salon with a bad manicure/pedicure etc without saying anything, that's on you. You should have at least called the owner the next day. JUST MY OPINION.
