The first time I went here the girl did a great job. I gave it another chance 3 days ago. I got a young kid with glasses he looked about 18, he did a horrible job. The nail polish is dented, the top of the nail doesn't have the same amount as the rest of the nail. I got dipped. Horrible job!!! I am sorry. I don't like giving poor reviews. However, I am curious to know has anyone else had same experience? Found Cali Nails on accident today. I was actually going somewhere else but found it closed. Went to Salvation Army seen this nail salon open. Asked for a refill on my natural nails that were growing. I wanted to strengthen them. I was told acrylic powder was good to do. A male nail technician did my nails. I started talking to a lovely young lady next me about her beautiful nails. When I finally looked, my nail tech had filed my left hand so short I had no more medium length nails but very short nails. Who goes into a nail salon to file nails all the way down? I could do that at home. I don't even color my nails when this short. I just fail to see where the miscommunication occurred. I obviously, did not let him do that to my right hand. The technician was apologetic, I think. I was still charged $45 for something I most definitely did NOT ask for or expect. At that moment, I was upset but do not like to make scenes. I definitely think management should have intervened when they heard me tell him that is NOT what I wanted. It is a shame because overall the establishment was beautiful, clean and organized. I was planning on getting pedicure at this place. I wanted to continue my patronage at this establishment. I just don't know right now if that's a good idea? Any suggestions read more

I had my nails filled Saturday morning by a young girl. She filled them, then filed them, then had me wash my hands. I was paying attention to the TV, not to what she was doing. Next thing she is putting polish on! I said wait, I need you to cut them square & short - they were ridiculously long (for me.) She said "$5.00 dollars". I said no, of course after a fill you cut the nails into the shape the customer wants, she only repeated $5.00 dollars. She then proceeded to paint my nails in record time and was a little rough, honestly. I did tip her, but felt she really didn't deserve it. When I got home I had to cut and shape my own nails - which never turn out as good as when a nail tech does them. I love Cali Nails but that visit was 1 star. I'll be going back but I will NEVER use her again to do any type of beauty treatment on my body. read more

I've been coming to Cali Nails here in Grande for about 2 1/2 years, and they never disappoint. I'm always willing to drop big bucks here because their service and hospitality is everything I look for. I believe I'm conditioned to their technicians standards on sizes and shaping because I can't find this quality anywhere else in Gurnee. when I tried a different place out of convenience, a nail broke. Bad luck for cheating on my favorite spot for sure. Vicky is a strait up hussler and I'm here for it, she's amazing at helping me set up appointments and is exceptionally gracious for walk ins. I get nervous about setting appointments in general with the fear that I won't make them or my vibe would change for the day. Aside from helping customers get connected with a nail tech, she also does an amazing job waxing my eyebrows... literally EVERYTIME! Can't trust anyone else to do them. And recently a nail tech (didn't get her name) did my snowflake designs and almond French tips. I love them! read more

I came here because it was recommended to me by a really good friend. I never do my nails because of my job but it's a special occasion so I wanted to do something special. My nails were done by an older lady, she may be the owner of the shop. She was very rude to me because I was stiff and didn't really know how to lay my hands down. My nails are uneven. My no chip paint exploded? There was a bubble and it popped and now my nails are ruined and tomorrow is the wedding. My nails were done on Thursday so it's only been 3 days. This was not a great experience. And paid full price for nails I need to remove and redo. read more

My friend called on the way to set up an appointment and they made sure to get us in before they closed. My friend has been coming here for quite a while and loves them. I now know why. The front desk lady greeted us upon entering. Knew we'd been the ones to just call 20 minutes ago. Directed us to pick out polishes for our pedicures. The young ladies that took us were super nice. Jenny for me and Maxi (?) for my friend. My friend's girl even suggested letting her pick out the tinted color to go with my friend's French pedicure and, boy, was that color gorgeous. A beautiful, translucent light tint of lilac. Sherry was so glad she went with Maxi's pick. I couldn't stop staring at her toes in the parking lot. In the middle of the street. Poor Maxi stopped and came up to us to make sure everything was okay cause we were there till closing drying our toes and she'd already gone out to her car. We had to reassure her of how much we loved them and explain WHY we were stopped in the middle of the street. lol Anyhow...on to mine. Jenny was so sweet and friendly. We talked all through the pedicure. I never get light colors. Let alone pink but I decided to try to be more girlie and get a proper light, summer color. So I picked a light pink and it sure turned out lovely. Jenny listened to me tell her to cut those nails down all the way as I have a lethal big toenail if it's allowed to be long at all. Kills all socks. Haha. Nice and short as I like. Got a nice rub down with a scrub. My feet and legs are all silky smooth now. And the color turned out fantastic. Jenny did a marvelous job. I definitely recommend these wonderful ladies! Can't wait to come back and do my nails. Maybe something with a fancy paint design like in all their pretty pictures. I will never go back!! I do not recommend this place. I took my daughter and her friends for her birthday and we were very disappointed on the outcome. Our party of five had a bad experience to say the least. My daughter (birthday girl) cried due to her index finger being done crooked. It was redone twice! The third time a completely new lady had to redo them. ONLY because I had to get up and request it. Her nails are super long and unacceptable. In addition, another girl in our party ask for a design, paid extra, only for the nail to come off the next day. My nails came out thick and I was not satisfied with the result. I strongly recommend to not come to this location. I spent 180 and over 3 hours of my time. We had a very bad experience! read more

It's ok. Not real clean. Nice people but their work doesn't last very long. I had to go somewhere else to have things fixed.

I've been going here for years. We used to see Jenny but she left and I regularly would sit with her husband who also worked there or I really like Lucky. However the last 3 sets I received from here were done by the gentleman sitting next to Tina & have broken after 1 week. After getting my nails done, I was unhappy. They have signs everywhere saying if you're not happy then speak up. So I told the gentleman I was unhappy and he told me he saw no problems with my nails. There were other customers telling him all the problems and he refused to see them. Here I am 8 days later and I've lost 4 nails due to them being done terribly. Unfortunately this place has gone completely down hill and it has lead me to look for my nail services elsewhere. read more

First I would like to say that there is a huge difference between gel nails and acrylic. Pure gel nail formula does NOT come in powder form. If your nail tech uses a powder and tells you it's gel he or she is lying to your face. I walked in here on Friday morning wanting to get GEL naiLs. I sit down and I see him pull out the acrylic powder. I then told him the mixture for gel is not a powder. He tried to argue with me saying that using the actual gel is the old technique and that the powder he was using is the New one. He ended up giving me acrylic nails with a top coat of gel and for that one top coat they charge you $15 extra. NO that's not true gel nails. Don't let these nail salons take advantage of you do your research. He argued till the end that they were gel when in fact they weren't. Never going back to this place. read more

They do not sanitize their tools. I got a pedicure and no chip manicure and polish on both looks like a six-year-old Did it. When I complained about it because of course for $55 I'm going to expect them to turn out nice, they acted like they couldn't speak English and had no idea what I was talking about. They are really good at fitting everyone in specially if you make your appointment on the way there, so I got dip powder on my nails Saturday and I had to go back on Sunday cause they already chipped. Then I had to go back on Monday because another one chipped, but that's not all cause today I had two chip/crack again. So to make sure it's clear I had four nails chip or crack in four days! This is the rudest place I have ever been to. I took my granddaughter and myself for full set and pedicures so spent goodddeal if money and tipped well but have never been treated so rudely... the person left in middle of my job to go deal with someone while another person took over... she took over again when she returned. Terrible service from the moment I walked in. I had an appt for a manicure. After I picked out my color and sat down I was lectured from this woman. She said over and over how this manicure won't last more than a day and that she thought my appointment was for one of those other more expensive nail services, gel/no-chip/acrylic. Basically she told me my appointment was a waste of their time. There was minimal, if any, effort given during my manicure. I had bumped a nail when she told me to put my hand in front of the fan, told her about it, AND SHE DIDNT EVEN FIX IT! There was hardly any ventilation in there, I was counting down the seconds until I was gone. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. read more

Horrible rude employees and even worse nails. I got a full set done with acrylic and not even a full 2 days later 2 of my nails came off. So I went back to have them fix it and one of the workers accused me of lying (implying that I had went somewhere else to get them done). Then I'm waiting for my nails to dry and she literally turns off the lights and kicks me out the shop saying that she wanted to leave early to "buy supplies". Rude and I will never be back. Hands down the WORST service I have received. Walked in for 2 pedicures was seated right away but had to wait for 1hr as they finished pedicures on the next clients even though they walked in after with no appointment. My feet were wrinkled from how long they made us wait. They do not clean their pedicure bowel nor do they spray them to disinfect between clients which I noticed as I was getting my pedi. The same girl that did my pedi rushed my moms no chip and forgot to put a top coat on her right hand while rushing to do my no chip at the same time. I also got my eyebrows done by the owner but she left one shorter than the other which She claimed one was "thicker than the other" she penciled them in thinking I wouldn't notice. The customer service was overall horrible and extremely rude. The women insulted me when I explained to her I was not satisfied w my visit after spending over $100 it certainly was not worth it. The next day I had to go in since 3 of my nails had chipped and my toe nail was smudged. Waited for 1 hr and 15 minute for them to fix it when they had only 2 clients with 4 employees. The women who fixed my nails painted my toe nail a different color than the rest and didn't care. I spent too much money to be treated rudely and as if it was a bother. To top it off the owner stood behind me the whole time basically rushing me out of her business after having me wait till I was the last client making me wait over an hr. Simply because she thought I would not notice. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE ANYWHERE IS BETTER THAN CALI NAILS. read more

Didn't have to wait too long without an appointment. Great prices and very friendly staff and regulars. My nails lasted I personally took them off none of them fell off. My eye lashes lasted a good amount of time considering I would get them wet When washing my face plus they were only $20 read more

Wednesday November 16th I went into the shop to get a no chip manicure, as it was referred to me by a friend. Two days later my nails began to chip, but they were supposed to last for about two weeks. I didn't have time to return to the shop until Sunday the 20th. Upon entering I showed them my nails and they agreed to fix them. They started but, left me sitting at a station, and switching me from station to station and taking customers ahead of me insisting they would get to me soon. After an hour of this game I had enough and just ask for my money back. Manager refuses and gets really rude. I had to call the police this lady was so impossible. She tells me i have to speak to the owner and to call M-F. I didn't want to because i didn't trust they would hear me out if i left. But after calling the police and still getting no where with her. I ask for the number....would you believe this woman hands me the shops number???????? She then says "i cant give out the owners number". I'm thinking wasn't that your idea in the first place. Thats not even the best part! She then tells me the owner is on vacation and won be back until the following friday! Yet this entire time she was saying call anytime M-F! unbelievable! read more

Went to this salon on Sun for mani-pedi. The gentleman that did my services didn't do a very good job. He cut my cuticles so bad the fingers hurt and cuticles keep peeling. He didn't pull out clean tools so I'm not sure if they clean their tools. I'm worried now about getting some kind of infection because tools were dirty. Will never go to this salon again. read more

This place is amazing! I'm pretty satisfied with the customer service here. The staff takes the time to listen to what each customer want/need. They also create friendly conversations with most of their customers, making them feel content and not bored. I would totally recommend this place! read more
