I just moved to the area and needed a new nailshop. So I gave Q Designer Nails a try on 11/10/2023. I got a shellac manicure and before starting I asked the price, two techs exchanged words in their language and then she told me it would be $35. The service and quality was great! So I return today on 12/06/2023, to get the same service and now theirs a price raise. She said no it was $40 last time, it hasn't been $35 in a long time. She then proceeded to tell me I want just there. So I had to pull up bank transactions to show her. Then she started scratching her head. She say next time it's $40. I arrived late, 7:40 PM but was hoping they could take me in. The Open sign was on and door unlocked. An employee was sitting in the waiting area and told me they were closed. She did not care to take me in. She was unaware that Apple Maps also showed they were open until 8 PM. I thankfully was able get an appointment at Riveroaks Nail Salon. Even though I had a great experience, I will say now that's been a few days and my nails have grown out a little, I can see the precision on the manicure was not as great as I thought it was :( polish is not even and is peeling at the edges. Just when I was about to give up on nail salons, I bumped into this little gem! Lisa did my mani and Mai did my pedi. They were both wonderful ladies who took their time, did a magnificent job, and gave a very nice massage. I definitely felt pampered! They understood that I like my natural nails and they did not try to upsell me, which is the trouble I've been running into at other places and feel like I don't get as good of service. Rather, they respected my decision and even complimented my healthy nails and agreed that natural is the way to go to keep them strong. Loved them and had the best time with them! Nice/quiet salon close by. Been here 4x; Marjorie is very sweet and does my nails/eyebrows very well and takes time to listen to her customers. Mai did a wonderful job on my pedicure. The owner...Lieu has good skills but you can tell she rushes when she's busy and is mostly just focused on getting customers in and out and NOT the quality of service. 3 out of the 4x I've come, I've seen her stop a nail tech in the middle of a manicure to start someone else's that just walked in and take over the rest of their work. Being efficient with customers' time is understandable, but it comes across as rushing both the nail techs and customers-you can tell adds stress to the salon. Basic pedi is $35, powder color with almond shape and a basic design $65- not bad pricing for most Houston salons. Would consider giving 5 stars if owner created a more calming/salon-like experience than what is there now. read more

I had shellac on nails and toes and both ladies worked on me at the same time. I was out of there in less than an hour! They did not rush nor did they cut any corners. I recently visited Q Designer Nails for the first time. I was very pleasantly surprised to walk in, and be seen almost immediately without an appointment. My shellac manicure and pedicure were very well done. It's been a few days, and I'm still admiring the shape of my nails and how tidy the cuticles are! I'll be back for sure. The price for eyebrows are their board says $10 I get them done and now it's time to pay and a hand written piece of paper laying on the desk says effective March 1st eyebrows $15. Rip off. Still came home to fix my eyebrows. I won't go back. read more

I have been coming here on and off for AT LEAST 10 years...probably more. My office is located near here, and when I needed a quick mani/pedi, I zipped in there, and was out within an hour. Vivian, who has worked there FOREVER even recognized me, which was astounding since I hadn't been there in at least 5 years. GREAT mani (HELLO $12) and a really sweet pedi with hot rocks (no extra) for $25! They did a great job, and I was in and out in no time. The place is VERY clean, they don't have spa chairs unfortunately, but hey at $12 for a mani, who can complain! They also offer shellac, and other waxing services as well. The lady taking care of my nails didn't shape them in any sort of way. I had to tell her very specifically how to shape them. The color of polish I requested was empty after the first coat and they didn't notice before they started painting. On the bright side, they took me in about 45 minutes before they closed and stayed a bit late to finish up. Great customer service but not the best skill. read more

PROS: Super nice! The staff is very welcoming and nice! They ask you for your first name when you enter and they use it during your visit. Great relaxing environment. CONS: I am on day 11 of my "shellac" manicure and it has been noticeably lifting and chipping for the past three days. With zero effort I was able to peel it all off of my nails. That can't be good. I should probably mention that they have a "CND" (makers of Shellac) display but they used an unidentifiable brand on my nails. My fault for not speaking up. For $30 I should have been more vocal. Also, I know this is Westheimer, so $25 isn't much for a pedicure, but I was at least expecting a vibrating chair. However it's a trade off because the pedi was amazing, I was just off put but the retro "foot spa" Over all SUPER NICE STAFF and very clean facility. Just a little sad bc I was SO EXCITED about my first shellac and it turned out to be a dud. read more

I come here because it is very convenient for me since I live off of Bering Dr. The ladies are always nice and you get complimentary drinks. The first time I didn't enjoy it as much because 5/10 fingers were literally bleeding from that machine they use to buff and trim your cuticles. The lady that did my nails was named Rose, so I don't recommend her. My second experience here went quite well. Tiffany did my full set and she was soft and gentle with my fingers and did not make me bleed at all! My nails did not feel heavy like when Rose did it. I cannot believe that the nail tech; Mai, has a License to provide nail services. She is a Great conversationalist; however, it stops there. I went in for a Shellac service and although she did soak the Shellac off a bit, from my previous service, Mai rubbed the remaining off with a coarse file board and attempted to shape my natural nail with the same coarse file board; thinning my nails more than they were before I entered the establishment. Being in a new city it's always difficult to find a place for nails that is a 'keeper''.. well this is the one! I made an appointment 1 hour before I showed up and they were able to make a spot for me. The lady who answered the phone was very nice and polite, Helena (pedi) and Mona (mani) were fantastic, when I left I was asked by an old lady at the front desk if I was satisfied and if I would consider going back while she discreetly checked my nails.. A fairly good experience. My regular salon was booked for the day so I went here for a walk-in gel manicure. It is ten dollars more than I usually pay the the girl did a nice job and offered me some water. Seemed to be really clean and the environment was open and inviting. One star off because the girl cut my cuticle when when filing and boy did it sting when she hit it with the alcohol. I would definitely go back if I was looking for something more relaxing and less budget. read more

I love Q Designer Nails! It is my new nail salon of choice. The atmosphere is good and the technicians are all amazing. The location is convenient and close to my uptown apartment. Every time I come to get a mani/pedi they are busy but I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for service. The only downside I can find to this place is that they only accept cash tips. I hardly ever have cash on me and my bank is not nearby so it is hard for me to tip in cash. read more

I can't give one star because there is one woman there that is meticulous about her work. My manicures and pedicures with her are always perfect. Her name is Kara. However, they don't let the same person do your nails and toes, so someone else always does the other. There used to be one woman there that did a great job on my pedicure, but the last 3 to do it have done a terrible job. I can paint my own toenails better than they did, and I'm not good at it. I decided to have Kara do my toes and let someone else do my nails. Rose did a terrible job. I posted a picture if anyone wants to see it. One good thing is that they just added new massage chairs. I just recently moved into this area about 2 years ago and I went all around the area looking for a place to get my nails and eyebrows done. Well my mission is complete! =] This place is very clean, has tons of chairs so you never have to wait long. The workers here are so nice and they always greet me when I come. AMY is the best! She is in seat #1. She is so nice and she attempts to do all my crazy designs on my french solar nails (bring in a picture). This place is very organized. They write out a piece of paper for each person and what you got done from them. So that way there is no confusion. After a week from the last time I had my nails done here I had the nail technician take off the shellac just to see what looks to be some yellow on my nail. Also, she did not even take off the shellac all the way. Not only did she do damage to my nail by sanding it way down like paper, the clear coat of shellac that she insisted on putting on is so uneven. read more
