My first impression was positive since it was quiet, spacious, and staffed by three technicians granted it was a Monday early afternoon. I was promptly greeted, asked to select a nail polish color, and shown to my pedicure chair. While there was some light conversation in the salon, I appreciated that everyone kept their voices down and was respectful of the shared space. In a setting like this, I find the demeanor of both the staff and the customers equally important. My technician spoke limited English, but that wasn't an issue since the receptionist kindly helped translate when needed. The entire experience was efficient; I was in and out in about 45 minutes. I hadn't done my nails in years except for the occasional gel nails and they took the time to explain the different types/benefits. Not a huge fan... I've seen Amber a few times and I've noticed that she has her good days and bad days, but not consistent with her work at all. She has a lot of potential, but I'm not sure if this is what she really wants to do as this is a family business. I've had a few issues here and there, but this time was my breaking point. I've made her aware of the issues that I've had with the way that she applies my dip nails, but it seems like she gets frustrated from time to time. Her nail designs aren't always clean and neat. Every spas I went to, I had only asked the technicians to make sure the that my nails are fully covered with polish with no gap that's including my toes. Trust me I don't just ask for that, but polishing is important to me. I can cut my own cuticles but don't have the polish to cover that gap. And so far this place did that only one thing I asked. This place consistently performed their best regardless which technician is doing my nails. Even when the technicians are having conversations, they speak softly, no yelling from the front desk to the kitchen or sanitation station. I was so excited to find an affordable nail spot close to home, but I'm not sure this place is for me. I have now been here 3 times for dip powder nails. The first time I came, 2 nails cracked and chunks of polish fell off after 2 weeks. The second time I got it, it lasted 4 weeks! This third time...I already have a crack in a nail after ONE WEEK. I know the polish is going to come off soon. I'm always happy with how my nails initially look, but 2 out of 3 times my dip powder nails have not lasted as long as they should. I'm not really rough on my nails either and I wear gloves when I clean. My friend got gel nails this last time I went and several of her nails have already started to chip after a few days! This spa was recently opened 4 months ago and the only reason I stumbled across this business was through a living social deal for a mani/pedi for $18. It's near the Ranch 99 Market shopping center next to the bank. As you walk in, there's a wide variety of OPI and china glaze nail colors to your left. It's overwhelming because there were a lot of colors to choose from! They even had Katy Perry's crackling nail polish options and shelac ($15). The right and left sides have massage chairs lined up next to one another and once you pick your color, you're ready to go. They've got manicurists ready and your tub for your feet filled up. They offer a selection of wine, soda, hot teas and water. (I think it's complimentary) For an upgrade, you can select the deluxe package which allows you to pick from a menu of aromatherapy smells and crystals with hot stone massages, scrubs and the whole 9 yards. I was pretty impressed and so were 4 of my girlfriends. We felt like we were totally pampered and relaxed. The place was very clean and the manicurist took her time with making sure my toes and nails were perfected with polish! I loved every minute of my experience with cabana day spa and look forward to booking my next mani/pedi with them again. They even have frequent customer cards for each time you get your nails done. Although general tipping guidelines are 15-20%, please tip higher - they work really hard to pamper you and make sure you're comfortable. I have visited several of the other nail spas in the neighborhood so I decided to check this one out. There was no one there which I thought was unusual for a nail spa on a December Saturday morning. I got a shellac mani which lasted 2 weeks as guaranteed. I went for a 2nd shellac mani on the Saturday before the New Year and there were only 2 other customers. That same evening the shellac started peeling off. Since I was out of town I was not able to return to the salon till a week later. I told the manager when I entered what had happen and she said they would take care of it. I got a third shellac mani. They wanted to charge full price. I reminded them they had guaranteed the shellac for two weeks. Finally the manager offered to drop $3 from the total charge stating I should have come in as soon as the problem occurred. I will not be returning. Now I understand why they do not have customers, apparently making the customer happy is not their priority. read more
