I came in and requested a soak off. Everything was going fine the customer service was great and quick and the vibe was very nice. They got right to work. Now, yes I have a separate nail tech and only need salons for soak offs. But even the simplest service can lead to a disaster. The lady removing my acrylics was doing a great job at first. Until she used the clamp that i thought was for removing longer acrylic on my already cut down nails and almost removed the entire tip of my pinky off. The bleeding couldn't stop. They used a green nail liquid to stop the bleeding but it still bled way after I left. Another lady, who I suppose does way better soak off comes over and continues my service. Now.. if that's the case why didn't she remove my nails in the first place because the second lady was way more gentle than the last. What offended me even more was when they said to come back so they can remove the acrylic off my injured pinky. The way they will NEVER see me again. I shouldn't have to get multiple services to be treated with respect. A soak off is still a service at the end of the day. Also, I noticed how unsanitary they are and they don't have a specific protocol for these situations. The clamp that they injured me with, they placed it on the table next to me. The same table where another lady next to me was getting her nails done. Lastly, yes I was still charged for this soak off, $10. How would you feel to be charged for almost chopping your pinky finger off? Not great. Yes it was a mistake, that shouldn't have happened since these are supposed to be professionals. They did apologize a lot. But I definitely don't think I should've been charged for this. read more

My toe was injured during a pedicure and was sore for at least a week afterwards. Staff was not pleasant either.

My first time here. Very peaceful in here. Frances did my feet. They look alright. I will clean up my cuticles when I get home. I probably won't be back. A little too pricey for it not to be amazing!!! 6/22--- I went back about two weeks ago & Frances did my feet again. I believe in second chances. She did much better the second time around. Like most, I am one of those picky people when it comes to my mani/pedi! Let's face it, it's not just about the cuticles or nail polish, it's about the relaxation. I'm sure almost all of your mani/pedi'rs out there can agree, the worst thing is when your nail artist is massaging your hands or feet and they stop to answer a call or keep yapping on to their neighbor in another language. Total buzz kill. Thank god this place is NOT like that. I had branched out from my usual nail shop in midtown and went here on a recommendation from a friend. Stephanie did my nails and she did an amazing job!. My nails looked great and lasted for quite some time. The OCD clean freak in me loved how clean the salon was, and how hygienically the instruments were maintained! This is a definite plus when it comes to becoming a regular at a nail shop. I went to Tanglewood Nails on Wednesday morning. I intentionally went on a weekday since it would be way slower compared to weekends. When I arrived, there were about 5 employees and 2 women getting pedicures. One employee asked me what I wanted and proceeded to tell me they were extremely busy and asked if I could come back later. I explained that I had a business trip and couldn't come back later. She then said, "can you come another day?" It was strange to me that they were asking me to leave. Although it wasn't busy at all, it's possible they had appointments within the next few minutes. As a company, you shouldn't ask customers to leave, but instead tell them how long the wait will be. I felt like I was turned down service, which is illegal. I was completely turned off by my experience; I wouldn't recommend or go back. read more

Finally deciding to write a review after multiple attempts at giving Tanglewood Nails chances to make the previous times better. The first time I ever went - it was great! However, with quite a bit of turn over it's hard to find someone that pays as much attention to detail as you do and wants to do quality work. Second time - horrible job, my nails looked like a five year old painted them...and it was gel so not an easy thing to fix myself. Third time - gel manicure and the gel was stuck to the skin, it just all looked like a glob and everything felt stuck together. Mind you I tried someone else. This week was my absolute last time I will attempt to give Tanglewood Nails my business. I booked an appointment for two people, we showed up on time, we were acknowledge with a Hi, and waited 15-20 minutes although we had an appointment. 25 minutes comes around and still nothing. We decided to leave after 35 minutes. They were not so busy that they couldn't at least fill two pedicure chairs that were open with water to let our feet soak while they finished up, nor did they say just give us five more minutes. People make appointments for a reason, understandably things can run behind, but communicate it. Acknowledge your customers and also do a quality job. I feel Tanglewood Nails is all about Quantity over Quality... they choose to take clients before appointments to try and get more money in the door which in turn leads to doing rush jobs only to see more clients and make more money rather than do quality work and have life long clients. I went to this location for convenience and I will not return. The staff is not very friendly and their quality of work is not great. Shellac should last at least two weeks if not longer (from my experience) and the day after I got my nails done there was already a very noticeable chip. A week after getting my nails done, every nail has a chip and the polish looks very dull. They are also very slow at their services so expect to be there at least an hour and half to two hours for just your nails. read more

Most painful pedicure I have ever received, and I have a high pain threshold and get pedicures on a regular basis. Water was so scalding I was truly unable to put my feet in. She then stabbed and scraped my toes so hard I'm honestly surprised there was no blood. I was attracted to the reviews commenting on the peaceful ambiance, but I have to disagree. Also the Yelp picture is misleading, it's a plain shopping center salon with fluorescent lighting. It costs more than I normally pay - a regular deluxe is $50 - but I tried it because it's close to work. I'll be returning to my usual places. Ps. I went here for my first time on Monday around 2:30. The atmosphere was strange. There was no music playing, so all I could here was the screeching of a nail grinder. My pedicure technician was Stephanie, who I think is also the manager because she stopped my pedicure a few times to talk to all the customers and check them out. The massage part of the pedicure and foot scrub were pretty good. However, the actual paint job is bad. As she was just starting to paint, a customer walked in when all the technicians were busy so they had to wait. So instead of spending the time on my paint, she rushed through it. None of the edges of my nails have paint on them and the top coat was literally slapped on so it is uneven on every single toe nail. I was excited about the promising reviews, but my experience did not add up. read more

Just got done getting the worst pedicure I've ever had. I called ahead at 11:30 and asked if they had time to give me a spa pedicure and noon, they said, "yes, come now." So I did. When I got there, out of the 6 "spa" chairs, there were 2 occupied, 3 open chairs, and one completely unusable chair. I was sat in a BROKEN CHAIR with a sunken in back support. There were two pillows in the even MORE broken chair next to me, so I took it upon myself to grab them and put them behind my lower back. The woman doing my feet couldn't understand me very well and I couldn't understand her well either. She pulled her personal phone (which was not on silent) out of her pocket twice while doing my feet to see people calling. When she was done AFTER ONLY 30 MINUTES, I looked at my jagged toenails, which she didn't even file, and said, "That does not look good. Can you please file my nails." She only trimmed (not filed) the corner of my right pinky toe, said thank you and moved on to the next customer who was waiting for her. My toenails are half white (I asked for French tips), I still have rough patches of dead skin on my foot, junk underneath my toenails, and I was charged $38 for that. The service I received was sloppy and unacceptable and I took pictures of my toenails for reference. I am going to another salon to get my toes fixed. I would not recommend this place to anybody. I wish I could get my money back. read more

I'm a huge fan of this nail salon. I found it by accident searching for a cheap place to get my nails shellaced. For $25, you get your nails done and for $30 you can get your toes too. I was in a bit of a rush when I came in, so they pulled out all the stops and had two people working on me at once. The place has a great relaxing atmosphere and the ladies do absolutely phenomenal work. The customer service was very friendly and the job easily asked 4-6 weeks. They a great variety for colors available in the shellac. I was able to find one that perfectly matched my indoor skydiving suit! read more

I really wanted to like this place more because of previous reviews. The ladies working here are extremely nice, there is no problem in that department. I had the Spa Pedicure, and the lady working on me really took her time with the massage which was awesome. The downsides, however, are that it took forever to get a manicure/pedicure (paint only, no shellac), the paint does not go all the way to the edges of my fingernails, and even on the next day, the paint can still be dented! I adore this place. I treat myself to a pedi here every so often and it's really the most bang for your buck. Plenty of other places next door that are crowded and overstimulated with music and soap operas on tv. Not this place, weekday afternoons are relaxed and the staff treats you so well. You can definitely chill in their awesome massage chairs with some green tea and just unwind. Highly recommended for moms and visiting grandmothers. I mean it's got Barbara B's seal of approval! I have been here quite few times and I feel like the service is not always consistent. Sometimes with the standard pedicure they will do a really good job with scrubbing and massage and other times it feels like they just don't care, and it's not related to how busy they are either. Nancy is by far my favorite, she always does a thorough job and is really friendly. They have a good selection of color and their prices are decent for the area, $25 for a standard pedi and $15 for a mani. The salon is clean and it is usually no wait for a walk in. read more

I'm new to Houston and I am now a loyal customer! I go to Minh but all the ladies are wonderful. Minh was able to keep up the same regimen that I have had for 18 years, in another state. Their services are also affordable, which can be hard to find in Tanglewood/Galleria/Uptown area. I would not recommend this place AT ALL. Went there on Sunday, July 7, 2013 and got the WORST pedicure I've ever had!!!!! The technician cut my toenails so short that they re now sore and cannot wear closed toed shoes until they grow a little. She did not wipe the lotion off my toe nails after the massage and therefore the polish did not go on smoothly. Not only that it looks like a 5 year old put the polish on as it got all over my skin and no effort was made to clean it up. I come here every couple of months for a mani/pedi, and I consistently have a good experience! The techs are thorough and attentive. The place is clean and well maintained. I'm usually a walk in, and the longest I've waited for someone to be available is about 10 mins. I always leave here w great looking nails!
