All I wanted was a simple manicure and the nail technician noticed my nails were thinning and stripping so this genius decides to pull out the drill to sand my nails despite me telling her NO!!! I just moved to Houston from Atlanta and trying to find a new nail salon is not always easy and/or fun. I called in advance to get their prices and they seemed fair - everyone charges about the same in the area. Not a very big salon but the nail techs are very friendly and inviting. I asked for SNS (in Atlanta it's known for "sns", here in Houston a lot of nail salons call it dipping powder but it's the same thing). There was not many colors to choose from so I chose white! The pedicure experience from Summit Nails was great! The deluxe pedicure was awesome! Sugar scrub, paraffin wax, callus remover, and hot towels ALL for $25! I loved every bit of it! The nail experience was okay - Step 1 - Soaking of the nails Step 2 - Shape and clean up (also cleaned my cuticles which came with the $40 price) Step 3 - Dipping; You could tell that the techs weren't knowledgeable of the dipping powder method. Finally, everything was decent for a new nail salon until they put GEL on top of my SNS. I told the tech that, that's defeating the purpose; she just worked so hard dipping my nails, and the price I just paid - ALL TO PUT GEL ON TOP (final coat). I came in for a regular mani/pedi. The lady who did my manicure cut me about 5 times. They also kept leaving me to go to guests who are regulars there. I came to Summit nails because it was in walking distance of where I live. I came for a shellac manicure and french pedicure ($5 more than a regular pedicure). The lady at the front desk barely spoke english and it took a couple tries for her to even understand what I wanted. I was satisfied with the french pedicure! She did a great job shaping and painting my nails in a square like I liked. However, the shellac manicure was pretty bad. A different lady was doing my manicure while I was getting my pedicure done. I usually like to have them done at different times so I can enjoy them both. She was very rushed and didn't do a very good job. It was awkward because she put the UV light on my lap for me to put my hands in. It kept falling off and turning off. To be honest, I probably could have done a better job myself on my finger nails. Also, the whole time they were talking in a different language and laughing. Really is uncomfortable and makes you think they are talking about you! The price was $45 + tip. came yesterday (thurs) afternoon to get my nails done for my senior prom! i called ahead and booked an appointment for my group and the salon was very accommodating! i had a group of 6 people total, and they do give group discounts, so that was a plus. the location itself is a little tucked away, but there was plenty of parking. when i walked in, i saw that there was a very wide range of colors to choose from, and i opted for a royal blue acrylic manicure, which was $30. the price is great for the quality of work. camille did my nails, and she was absolutely fantastic! we chatted for a bit while she did my nails, and then i got my brows waxed. it was quick and easy- took maybe 10 minutes maximum with no pain at all. overall, i am very satisfied with the results. i will definitely recommend Summit to all my friends for their mani/pedi/waxing needs! read more

I visited today I did a Groupon online and canceled it to rebook for a different time on the same day (cancelation is free). The salon experience was good everyone was friendly and they did a good job. Now what I did not like is that before leaving I went to get a receipt I was surprised to be told I had to pay there that nothing would be charged to my card that is on my Groupon. So I paid with my debit card and left. 2 hours later I get an alert from my bank that my card was used the salon charged me a total of 3 times! $40 for the canceled appointment, $40 for the rescheduled appointment, and $50 in person at the salon even after I was told I would not be charged on my card. Now I have to wait for Groupon to dispute it with the nail salon if not I'll have to call the fraud department for my bank. I will never be returning. read more

So I happened on this place when I was looking for cookies next door on a Sunday. This place was advertising mani/pedis for $20. It looked reasonably clean, and the ladies in there looked like regulars. They also have a good selection of colors. They have those nice massaging chairs with the warm foot baths. For an extra $5, they give you a callus treatment (I needed it) that works pretty well, and they break out the microplane and pumice. A couple days later, my feet are still smooth. One thing they could benefit from is a UV light to dry your nails faster and/or have you pay for your manicure before they paint your nails. I ruined a nail twice trying to get my credit card out. (I tipped extra for having them do it twice.) After they're done, you just have to air dry them in front of a fan. Turnover might be better for business too. I definitely recommend this place, and I'm considering going back. But that means breaking up with my regular place, which I'm not sure I'm ready to do. read more

I have been here twice and both times had a great experience for a GREAT PRICE! The place is cluttered and not what I would call particularly clean, but you get what you pay for. I am not expecting great ambiance when I'm paying $20 for a mani and pedi! The massages aren't that great or long, but my color stayed on an expected amount of time and they had me pay before polishing so I wouldn't smudge the nail polish. The last time I went I just had "gel nails" which is the same as Shellac just not the Shellac brand and they are FANTASTIC. The best part was they were only $20 because I didn't get a manicure with it. I just had them paint the gel nails on. One major down side is no one speaks english....like at all. I went in for just a manicure about 3 weeks ago and it was great, so I returned last week for a manicure/pedicure and it was even better. The ladies are very nice. I had Amy and Jade and they were both very friendly, but most importantly GENTLE. I have been to so many places where the manicurists don't seem to understand there is person connected to the foot. I don't enjoy pain and these 2 did a great job. My toes actually looked so good after the pedicure, I almost didn't get any polish! Highly recommend this place, it's very reasonable and clean. No, no, no! I will not come here again. This was my 2nd time coming here and although I didn't thoroughly enjoy my first time coming, I came for 3 girlfriends who wanted a mani/pedi there. It's only $20, super cheap but you get what you pay for. At least I got a massage chair the first time with the pedi basin. The 2nd time around, I felt extremely rushed to pick nail colors and with appointments, my friend and I didn't get to sit in the massage chairs. Thinking we would just wait till the patrons were done with their pedis so that it would be our turn to sit in the massage chairs, I was shocked to be led to the black couches near the wall closest to the entrance where they physically put a wash basin for my feet and immediately started working on my mani and pedi. The pedestals they put my foot on were so uncomfortable and taped up that it would often put me in an awkward position since the couch and foot pedestal were not of the same height. All I can describe of this experience is that it was extremely ghetto. On top of all this, 2 ladies started working on me and talking amongst themselves without even acknowledging me or having conversation with me. They were so distracted that one of them cut my skin while cutting around my cuticles for my thumb. I let out a painful noise and of course, the cut started bleeding. She didnt even immediately do anything about it except apologize. Then when it started bleeding more, she patted it with some blue wash on a cotton ball that stung my open wound. But it kept bleeding! If I didnt say anything, I think she would have let it bled or not noticed it until she got to that finger to paint. Im afraid it's going to get infected. Another thing is that the lady doing my pedi was on the phone which I thought was completely unprofessional. She was STILL on the phone after my pedi was done and just motioned that I was done. By the way, she smeared the polish on my big toe and had to redo it. To make things worse, there's no drying spray or UV lights to ensure your nails are completely dry and ready to go. They also prefer cash payments, never a good sign... To top off my experience, when I came home my mani had smeared. I will not come here again, even if it's a "steal of a deal" for a mani/pedi. I'd rather spend more in a quality salon and where my feet aren't soaked in the same basin for the entire duration nor in awkward positions on a regular black couch and a run down foot pedestal. I came to Summit Nails to pretty up my tips and toes before going on a cruise vacation. The good: the staff was kind and accommodating to me and every other lady (and two little girls) who came in for services in the hour I was there, the prices were reasonable ($70 for everything), and my white polish shellac pedicure was very well done. The bad: my full set of white dip powder nails were lumpy and bumpy to the touch and every single one of them popped off less than a week later. I lost the first nail while rolling my luggage on board the ship and the second one cracked shortly after, which prompted me to just remove them all. I was surprised how quickly and painlessly I was able to take them off, too, as though they had never been properly or securely affixed in the first place. The women here were so helpful and nice they were celebrating their Chinese New year so they were all dressed up and cute. This location seems to be more of a pedicure spot vs. a place I would come to get my nails done. I didn't ask for added tips for length , cut down or cuticle cut but they did anyway, and they cut my cuticle dry making me bleed. Painful!
