I was headed to Costco and it wasn't opened yet, so I decided to get a manicure to kill time (the one at 9am). I was looking at the reviews and they seemed pretty good so, I thought, why not. This is a no frills nail shop. Pretty old school and that's okay. It isn't fancy, so don't expect anything over the top. I was seated at the back by the sink and all I could smell was incenses and sewage water. All the drainage water from the chairs were funneled down to the back. I am a fan of some smells, but incenses are very strong and over powering to me. Always has been. The woman gave me a fabulous manicure and her massage was a. 5/5! She was amazing. She said she has been with the salon for over 20 years. I could see myself possibly going back if in the area, but definitely not having them seat me towards the back. It took over an hour for an acrylic set that cost $60. All I wanted was a simple abstract take on the French tip which according to the nail techs is a "design." A design no one else knew how to do, not even the one tech in the ENTIRE shop who does designs. Unfortunately, the lady said she couldn't recreate my requested "design" . So I settled for an almond nail French tip. After a very slow application process, she proceeds to not apply a nude base and goes straight for the French tip w/ the nail tip exposed. I just told her to paint my whole nail. This clearly isn't the place to show a picture of what you want, then have them recreate it. No ambiance, no complimentary drinks, just part of my weekend eaten up and $60 wasted for something I could've achieved w/ press-ons from Walgreens. read more

I found this place through Yelp and I had such a GREAT experience!!! Based off of the Tips, I called ahead of time to schedule an appointment. My friend and I were seated immediately upon arriving. We both did the Deluxe Manicure package ($20). Very affordable!!! We both experienced a shoulder and arm massage, hot towel, and this pink clay that made my hands super soft afterward!! LeAnn was VERY attentive and she gave me 5-star treatment. I felt incredibly relaxed! LeAnn even made sure that I didn't have any paint outside of my nail and she was gentle with the manicure. I don't normally...wait I don't EVER really go to nail salons because I just don't have the time. Really. Came here yesterday 11/20/17 for a treat yo self night. Working 12 hour shifts at a clinic and training for a competition kinda sucks the life out of you. And you just gotta treat yo self every once in a while. And so that's what I did. I left work around 5pm and decided last minute that I really did want to treat myself to a mani/pedi. I was checking on yelp to see which salons open late, around 7-7:30pm ~ just to give me some travel time from work to the salons. And the closest one was Leon Nails. I called right at 5:20 ish~ just to make sure they accept walk-ins and it seems like the person who picked up the phone was the manager. I requested shellac, and I wasn't really specific on whether it was mani or pedi. I just said "Do you accept walk-in for shellac?" And the lady said yes and asked me to come in 10 minutes and so I did. The moment I walked in...OH LAWD. It was hella packed. The place looks like a large walk in closet. Enough for literally a walk in closet but not big enough for a salon. Basically every single chair was taken. Terrifying. Also I was surprisingly the youngest one there... Anyways, they were nice. The only person who greeted me was the person who answered the phone. Again, assuming the manager because she kept the phone at her desk while she was working on a client. She got someone to seat me down in a pedi chair and I told them I wanted shellac. Nothing more. They were so BUSY that they didn't give me a menu. I waited and the manager kept telling one...or many a few of the ladies to work on me. Here's the thing, MOST if not ALL nail salons are owned by Vietnamese people. I try not to come off as someone who speaks the language because 1. they either like to gossip or 2. they talk about clients. Conversations were everywhere. I had a long day so I wasn't in a hurry at all. But the main one I heard was that the manager kept repeating her self that someone needed to attend to me because I was waiting at least more than 10 minutes. So finally an older woman...she looked older than the rest attended to me. I told her that I wanted a pedicure. She was very nice, spoke to me in english, and worked on me. I think half way through, she asked what color I wanted and that's where the whole confusion went down. Like unnecessary. I told her that I wanted a SHELLAC PEDICURE. And I guess it's my fault? I don't know. She was talking to some of the techs and I guess I made it obvious cause my head was going back and forth listening to their conversation. And they finally realized I understand them. LONG STORY SHORT. Another tech whom I asked for her name, Mimi came and finished my pedicure. She was telling me in Vietnamese that I should have called and told them that I wanted a SHELLAC PEDICURE. Because apparently only specific techs only know how to do specific things. It was kind of mind boggling. But she also apologized for the super long wait, and having to switch techs...blahblahblah Shellac pedicure costs $45. In the end, I was happy with how everything came out. They didn't rush me on my actual service, though the wait was meh, considering it was a Monday night. Place was ridiculously packed. Also the older lady who did the first part of my pedicure, worked on a lady next to me. The unprofessional part that I found unsettling was that she made the client pay for her service before the paint even touched her nails. Some of the techs kind of stared at the tech and then asked for tip either on card or cash. The client was kind of confused but went along with it. Her daughter, I'm assuming who sat 2 chairs over was like...WTF. The tech stated "Can you pay now before I mess up?" WTF. IMA BE REAL. Normally that request don't even settle well with Caucasian women, but this client was an older Chinese lady and was confused as hell. And I overheard it was her first time so EVEN MORE confusing for her. I felt bad for that lady. read more

I came here because I live in the area and I will not be returning. When I asked for a refill and pedicure I was put in the chair for my refill and they rolled up a portable pedicure station. There were 6 pedi chairs available so I'm unclear why they did this method. Once at the table the woman who was going to do my refill didn't speak to me. She fixed her station, refilled polish, and spoke to the woman doing my pedi. I'm 5'10 and had my knees elevated on a stand that might accommodate someone much shorter. While the refill/pedi was occurring several other people were accommodated with seats in pedi chairs with a nail tech on the side. They look hellah comfy. The woman doing my refill filed as much of my skin as she did my nails. There's no music in the shop. They don't offer beverages. For them to be rated so high in this area I expected much more. Also I notice every other person getting a pedi is also getting a neck and leg massage. I received neither. When I went to wash my hands the woman doing my nails proceeded to arch the eyebrows of 3 people. I'm still sitting here now. Waiting. With Enough time to type this review. Still no polish on my nails. I'll be returning to my hood shop with the banging playlist and cheaper prices. I'm a great big horse's ass. As I was selecting my polish, the bottle slipped from my hand and must have hit *just right* (or wrong) because it completely shattered, splashing polish EVERYWHERE. It was like a horror movie in pink. I felt terrible but everyone kept telling me it was ok, don't worry. I still feel bad but I'm glad I can show my face here. My favorite nail place in Houston. I balked when they raised the price from $25 to $30 but the massage chairs were a nice upgrade! You can get everything from your basic buff service to shellac, and wax your eyebrows. It gets pretty busy so I recommend making an appointment. Nancy and her team always do a great job. Good mix of OPI and Essie nail colors, but no Zoya or other "earth-friendly" brands. All the ladies of River Oaks come here and if it's good enough for them, then it's good enough for me! read more

The rating of the nailshop & it being 2 mins from me is what brung me here on a last minute stop. Walked in wasn't greeted, got sat to do my pedi and the woman took 40 mins filing off my shellac which hurt so much my actual toe nail WAS thin when she touched it and I requested that she stop and put acetone on it for easy removal.. She was nice and sweet but most definitely worst pedicure I've gotten in years. My callus weren't filed, the only thing I experienced was getting my toes overly filed, then she basically polished them after & that was it. they don't have powder or shellac which is what I usually get. I left the nailshop thinking "I couldve struggled to take the shellac off myself and just polished my feet" b/c that was all I got. During other clients treatments they were getting massages but I guess not for me. I WILL NOT return & wouldn't recommend. For the area of the nailshop I was expecting better treatment nice manicurist to get offered water or something! because businesses in the River Oaks area are USUALLY up to a certain standard, not this one. So a friend recommended this place to me, swearing it was wonderful. She's not a Yelper, so I decided to give it a try, because I wanted to see how her rec panned out. I'll say this Leon Nail is very speedy and efficient. It has none of the frills your more expensive nail salons have, like free champagne, expensive decor, the inside is sort of tacky looking, but overall okay as I'm not paying for a visual experience. I got my nails and a pedicure done, with a scrub for $35, which to me wasn't bad at all for the price, which is what is ultimately going to have me come back. I will say though that one of my technicians was nervous, probably because my friend was next to me demanding who knows what. "Don't forget to do this for Liza. Oh and make sure you do this for Liza!" She ended up spilling a little bit of nail polish on my clothing, but promptly removed it. I can't tell if she was agitated by my friend or just careless, but because she seemed stressed by my amiga, I let that go. My big toe did smudge, but that's more my fault as I didn't stay there long enough for the nail polish to dry, once I remembered I had my engagement ring on and didn't know if I wanted to be wearing it under a heating lamp. I'm new to the engagement ring stuff, so forgive me. I think it's worth a visit if you just need to get your nails done. If you want artwork, soothing music, and over the top pampering, skip. But, yesterday as this is my first time even calling I was amazed at the prices based upon the pedicure and other nails. The only issue that I had was the pedicure was super rushed, no soap used, no scrubbing, as well as I didn't feel like as if I received another enough attention. Followed by yesterday my polish was super gummy bulky and took a long time to dry. It makes no sense that now I have to pay someone else to do my polish or either do it myself! Loved coming to this nail salon! The place is small, but very clean. It also has a good selection of nail polish's to choose from. I came here during my lunch break, and the place was a bit busy. However, I did make an appointment ahead of time so I was sat as soon as I walked in instead of having to wait. The staff was was very welcoming, and friendly. The downside would be that its located in a shopping center that doesn't have many parking spaces. I suggest coming 10 min before your appointment in order to find a parking space.
