This is one of two nail salons I frequent in the Houston area, and this location is very far from where I live. I keep coming back because the ladies I've worked with here have always been patient with me, and they have the best range of colors, dipping powders, and chrome that I've seen. I don't feel stressed or shy when making requests on color, shaping, or changing things during the manicure, which is how I sometimes feel at other salons. My favorite manicurist recently left the salon, but I started getting my nails done with Victoria, who did the nails in the pictures I attached to the review. She is very sweet, gentle, and takes her time to shape my nails well. I've had nail art done by her that has taken time, and she didn't rush her work even though we had to stay well past closing hours. In terms of the negative aspects, I do wish this salon enforced a rule that all patrons wash their hands thoroughly before sitting down with a manicurist. I try to go and wash them on my own, but that isn't the case for the other customers I've seen. I also wish the towels they used to wipe our hands down after the manicure didn't have obvious stains on them. I can tell that they're clean, but I would appreciate a darker color to obscure the discoloration. Other reviewers have also commented on the interior not looking as clean or fresh as it used to be in the past, but I'm aware that the salon will eventually go through some remodeling soon, so I'm hopeful that these improvements will be implemented along with the remodeling.
I'm super sad to have to change the review for a place I have been going for 7 years. I moved away for about 2 years but even a year ago I came back and it was the same satisfying place it's always been. I was excited to bring my partner and when I did they did not disappoint. Today I brought my partners daughter here. I was excited as this was our first solo girls trip to Houston and I wanted to treat her by getting her nails done for a dance that's coming up. The experience was terrible and I was so embarrassed. It would have really made for a great afternoon and instead it was a total let down. I called ahead and they said they had an opening at 2pm. We arrived about 10 minutes early and they got us immediately seated. Her in a manicure seat and me in a pedicure chair. My pedicure was great. I was sad to see the menu had changed and my usual pedicure wasn't there but I did the milk and honey pedicure and shellac toenail paint and it was good. The lady did a good job. HOWEVER, I wasn't able to relax because I was focused on my teen and from 2-3pm they had her soaking her acrylics in acetone. Every now and then someone new would sit down and do a little work. Filing (with AN ALREADY USED file), drilling, cutting. Over the span of an hour 3 different people rotated occasionally checking in with her for no more than 3 minutes. Then they would disappear. At 2:45 I asked the lady working on me about how long my teen had been sitting there. She told me it was necessary because the acrylics she had on were so thick. It was gaslighting at its finest in an effort to take away how unorganized and unprepared they were. She's been wearing acrylics since she was 12 years old and she's 16. We know how long it takes to take them off. NOT 45 minutes. Additionally, they had a walk-in customer for a pedicure and manicure at 2:45 who they immediately began working on her nails and hands at the same time. I told them we'd been there for 45 minutes and were still waiting for my teen to be worked on. I was told she needed to soak more. Yeah right. Finally at 3pm someone began working on them and didn't leave. But after about 15 minutes we'd had enough. The woman working on her was hurting her and not picking up on the cues that it was painful. I told them I would pay for the work of removing the old acrylics but that we were ready to leave. I was not about to pay for her to have crappy nails, dry flaky skin as a result of the acetone, and be hurt in the process. All in a distracting not relaxing or tranquil environment. I noticed when I got my receipt texted to me it was from a new name: Susan's Nail and Facial. Kimberly I think used to be the manager here and she was amazing. I was told this place was remodeling but I think it must also be under new management too because I only recognized one person I typically see. My time at this establishment is done. Extremely disappointing, unsanitary, and disrespectful experience. Add on: the higher price use to be justified by the tranquil high end feel and they offered free drinks. None of that is the case anymore. Go somewhere else.
I have been cared for and pampered by Hannah and her team at Plush for over 7 years. Recently Plush sold and, in my opinion, the new management team leaves much to be desired. The vibe has totally changed from cute, comfortable and quiet to shabby and downscale. I will not be coming back.
I've been here several times after work but today was the most horrible experience I've ever received there, The person was cutting my nails cut my cuticle too short and I bled over 20 minutes she did not even apologize
I can't believe I've gone x amount of years without getting a pedicure (I don't want to give away my age). Luckily my wife convinced me to get a pedi a few years back, and now I'm addicted! I absolutely love this nail studio. They are always accommodating and were able to squeeze us in at the last second today. It's located in Rice Village, so parking can sometimes be a hassle depending on the time of day. The atmosphere is so relaxing, I usually fall asleep. They do an exceptional job of taking care of my footsies by taking their time and are very meticulous. I highly recommend this place if you want to pamper yourself.
This place used to be so good. It's gone down the drain. Super expensive! Terrible service. They are now charging $10 to soak off your nails. Dip is poorly done. The worst nail service I've had in years. It was upsetting to have to pay and tip when they really didn't deserve the tip. Very disappointed.
Saturday June 6, 2016 Let me just say... This place has raving reviews. And I can see why. I am someone that NEVER gets pampered. I'm just so busy. But since my birthday just recently passed, I felt like I deserved to be pampered and I've been wanting to get my nails done for a long while. My only excuse was that it was my birthday. My roommate came along with me as well. The service I chose was shellac. The lady who worked on my was Mary and she was very nice and gentle with me. She came off as shy and quiet. So I tried to make conversation but it was kind of hard. I walked in at 4:30 and it was hella packed. All but one pedicure chairs were occupied. And none of the manicure chairs had anyone. Interesting. I was worried I would have to wait a while since all the ladies were working on the clients in the chairs. But turns out some were in the back. Two ladies came out to work on my roommate and I. They're a little on the priced side. My roommate wanted a full set and it was pretty much the exact same price as shellac so she just opted for that instead. The place overall is SO peaceful and calming. Not so much critter chatter. All the ladies on the pedicure chairs looked relaxed and their eyes were closed. All the ladies who worked there were very very nice and had smiles. I'm Vietnamese so I've experienced when a worker gossips about clients in Vietnamese. But this experience, they didn't. Nice. LOL Mary was so gentle with me. She went at her own pace and when she cut my cuticles she didn't nip me. I've had that experience before and it was not nice. So my roommate had a pregnant lady who worked on her. She was fast but did quality work. Even though I got started before her, she finished before me too. Anyways. My thoughts are all jumbled. For someone who doesn't normally get pampered. It was a good day. And I think my nails look pretty. Funny story. After we left and walked down the street to Sephora. My roommate got compliments on the color she got by one of the cashiers. They asked her where she got her nail color and my roommate had mentioned that we got it done literally not too long ago at Plush. I've read so many reviews about the pedicures. Next time. Definitely next time.
So...looking at the menu of services Plush offers, my friend and I thought a manicure would cost $10. A good price, comparable to where we come from (New York), so we decided to pamper ourselves here. The salon is clean, decorated nicely, and the service is great. My manicurist did a great job on my manicure, was patient, and paid attention to every little detail to make sure I had a thorough experience. They have a large color selection with gel options, essie, and OPI brands, and they even offer a free drink (soda, juice, wine, or mimosa) with any service...pretty great, right? A special shoutout to the hand massage! They massaged from my fingertips to my shoulders and even used vitamin E! I should've known $10 was too good to be true... Anyway, when we paid it ended up being that a polish change was $10 and a manicure was $20, so needless to say we weren't exactly pleased with the price tag. Though we genuinely enjoyed our experience at Plush, I could have the same one elsewhere for a much better price (now I totally regret not getting a drink when they offered, damn!).
Well I went specifically for Essie polish. I asked 1st thing & was told no they didn't have that-but when I went to the bathroom there was a huge section of Essie products! I said I was really disappointed bc that's why I came here. I understand that some techs don't speak much English, but if you're going to advert a product they should at least understand that. I got some kind of upgraded polish that "lasts longer" for an extra $2, so they took that off as compensation. The chairs don't massage and the foot massage was just ok. As another Yelped posted, they painted far away from the cuticle so after less than a week they already looked like they had grown out so much I needed to go again. Expensive and nothing outstanding. Parking is tough there too.
Best mani/pedi I've had in Houston so far! Plush thinks of EVERY DETAIL. The pedicure starts with a bath of water, rose petals, and fruit. The little bowls they soak your nails in during the manicure has rose petals in it. I was in heaven from beginning to end. They have great color choices and an awesome staff who are patient, detail-oriented, and generally fantastic! I made an appointment, but it wasn't too busy when I got there (Sunday afternoon). You could probably just walk in! Just a heads up - this place is on the pricier side. But you get what you pay for, right? This place is amazing. AMAZING.
Review #166 I came here on account I had a gift card for a mani pedi. I didn't even look at the price of the services but after reading the reviews it sounds like they are pricey. Basic pedi came with tub full of rose peddles and citrus slices. So pretty! Then out comes a plate of scrub, lotion, vitamin E oil and more citrus slices! Wow! The mani and pedi were routine. Nothing out of the ordinary. I can't say i love the foot rest. My feet were not comfortable and were awkwardly placed. Chairs were extremely comfortable. Clean space. Staff was so friendly and nice! A pair of extremely chatty, mid 20 somethings sat next to me and made the experience not so relaxing. I got the side eye when I asked if they could lower their voices. If they hadn't have been here it would have been a nicer experience but it's not Plush's fault. I'm sure they didn't say anything because they didn't want to lose customers. Come on a busy day and parking may be a problem, but that's Rice Village for you. I probably won't be back if the prices are as high as the reviews mention. Yes the small extras were lovely, but the service, massage time, etc were basic and comparable to any salon.
First of all this place was magnificent I was able to schedule an appointment and go the same day. Hannah was amazing and so was the lady who took care of my pedicure they were both so gentle and very detailed in the The way they took care of my hands and feet. The pedicure was so relaxing and the polish was phenomenal I also received a full set and the photo I went in with versus what I got was phenomenal Hannah really did a great job on the intricate details of my nails needless to say I found my forever nail shop and I will continue to come back!

-10 star review. Not good at all. Nail quality is so bad there is chunks left in the nail polish. Did not go to the cuticle, also you can still see a BUMP in my nail it is not smooth. I am very disappointed. Took 1.5 hours and it was not clean inside. Do not go. We are going somewhere else and I am literally getting my nails done again this week because it's so bad. I'm so disappointed. Look at the pictures. Can't make this up. read more

Doesnt look like much from the outside but pretty swanky inside. I got a pedicure and it was great. I went around noon on a Saturday and it was pretty empty. My only wish is that the chairs while very stylish are a little awkward feeling I wish they were massage chairs instead. Also the foot rest bar is very hard plastic and also uncomfortable. read more

I have been coming to Plush for years now. I even got my nails done here for my bridal shower and wedding. Always get great service and amazing nails. I usually do a gel manicure with a regular pedicure, but when I get the dip powder, Hanna knows exactly how I like 'em, thin and natural looking. read more

We ventured to plush for a little TLC during a bachelorette weekend. We had a great time, everyone was so pleasant and accommodating! We all enjoyed upgraded services and longer massages and the paraffin wax. Seriously the most expensive manicure I have ever received, by far. We left the shop totally thinking it was worth it. Everyone got this cool cat eye polish that has the magnet thing to create a cool unique look, even charged $3 more for it! So you can understand how upset I might be that on the 4th day of shellac (gel), every single nail is chipped. I know that finger nail polish won't last forever but shellac for me is usually a 3 week thing. So as much as I enjoyed the day as well as the other girls... Not worth the $$ read more

Hannah does a great and inefficient manicure. However, my dip polish is chipped 2 days later and multiple of the nails have lines cracking. The color selection is not the best. It's a cute small studio, and I may return in a pinch, but it certainly wasn't an impressive experience especially since my $90 nails and pedicure need to be redone 2 days later. read more

I decided to come here today because of the reviews on yelp and because it is close to home. I called beforehand to see if they have any availability. She said yes, so I came right away. I arrived around 3:30 and was greeted by the front desk lady. It wasn't that busy there, since there were only 2 other people. I was getting the basic mani and pedi, and also needed my shellac nails removed. I really like the decor of the salon, very cute and pretty. However, that doesn't compare to the service I got. The lady at the register came to remove my shellac (she was chewing gum so loud and hard), all I hear is her smacking her lips and it was so annoying! BUT the worst part was that she was RUSHING and trying to get things done. Then there was a couple (who brought their dog in as well) that came in, so she switched with another lady there and went to go help them. She completely forgot to do the cuticles on one hand, and forgot something else on the other hand. She was also rushing and I don't know why! My nail polish was done badly, so much bubbles! I would NOT come back here again :( read more

We walked in today, (yay! 20% off all services!) and got seen right away. My bff wanted a glittery shellac pedicure "all the way" (I don't have the menu handy, but it was the top level pedicure) and I wanted a shellac manicure with a regular pedicure. When you walk in somewhere and there is a big bowl of chocolate staring you down, and the gal offers you wine or mimosas (or soft drinks for my preggo self!) you know you're gonna have a good time! We both had a lovely experience, from the plush seats, to the ambience, the products and the services - neither of us wanted to leave when we were done. My mani-pedi came to $67 before tip, $32+$27+$8 for nail art (after 20% discount, normally $40 + $30) so probably twice what you'd pay in a "lesser" salon, but for a special occasion (bff in town and 3 weeks from giving birth), it was worth it. My *only* problem is that she grabbed the wrong bottle for my shellac. I asked her if it would get darker to match my toes and she said it was lighter, I could have sworn I matched them better - when I got home and started my yelp review and realised I had photos, I was right, she said the right name, but grabbed the wrong bottle. Still cute, but not the match i'd selected - preggo brain is partly to blame i'm sure! I didn't catch the names of the two girls, but they were EXCELLENT. I loved my massage and the nail art on my big toes is adorable! Definitely a great place to go to feel special!! read more

My review is based off of gel extensions. I have visited Plush several times and usually go when I want a more detailed manicure or pedicure. It's not fancy, but in my opinion they do a very good job! Stubborn callouses on my feet don't stand a chance. $95 for this terrible mani / pedi! Disappointed this place is super cute but service was so so and they did a bad job polishing nails. The water for the pedi was freezing and even though I asked them for hot water they just kept adding cold water to the tub. I got paraffin wax and the girl spilled it all over my lap. I can't believe how expensive it as for such poor service. My nails look terrible I could have done a better job myself. I will not be back and can not recommend this place. read more

Got the shellac for hand and Plushed pedicure and it was AHMAZING. It was worth the extra money, because they make you feel relaxed and get everything taken care of. I came in with shellac nails already from another salon but I wanted to get them redone. I saw how they did the pedicures on yelp and I had to give it a try. It was beautiful! You know they're doing something right if it's with the right ingredients without any harsh chemicals. They also offered me a complimentary drink, and I had the orange juice. They had red wine, white wine, mimosas, OJ, and water. They probably had more, but I only wanted OJ. For my nails, I had came in with shellac nails from another salon who did a horrible job on them. I came in hoping they would fix it, and they did! I did some shellac with round shaped nailed and some design. I showed a picture and I didn't want to get too complicated with the design. Since it's the holidays, I wanted to get some snowflakes. I wasn't sure if the lady had done them before, but if it was the first time, I applaud her. The design was very cute and I was satisfied with them! I mean when I came home, of course I would do some lifting and hitting things with my hands and nails, so some of the design of the snowflake faded, but it's okay. And according to some of the reviews on here, around the Christmas time, they give you a little gift and it was to top it all off my experience! I would definitely come back and some of my friends even wanted to try this place out after I had posted on social media. Def worth it! read more

Very good customer service! I have come here several times now. I even brought my friend with me to get a mani/pedi and she loved it. Our nails stayed on (the shellac polish) for over two weeks! Inside it is really girly and pretty. They have a huge selection of nail polish, shellac polish, even rockstar glitter. The rockstar glitter is my favorite right now bc they can put glitter tips, make the whole nail glitter, or even do my favorite hombre with the glitter. The prices at a little pricier than othe shellac places but quality and selection are also better than others. If you're in the Rice Village area you should drop by to give them a try! read more

This nail shop is the best! They do a great job every time! I've tried different nail technicians but Hannah is my favorite. The spa is super clean and relaxing. The pedicure chairs are beautiful, (not your typical massage chair and bowl) and their pedicures are amazing. They use fresh fruit, vitamin E capsules and fresh flowers, it's divine! The music is relaxing spa music and sometimes when I go for just a manicure I'm inspired to get a pedicure because the music is just so relaxing. 10/10 would recommend. read more
