I'm writing this review after giving plush a second chance and the same result still happening. I went in for a manicure and asked for a plain color dip with a gel French tip. The first girl charged me $75 but I had no issues with lifting. She was much more detailed and meticulous. Both were very sweet. The second time I went back I was charged $45 for the exact same thing so I would definitely make sure if pricing beforehand. This is a large difference! The second time I went back I asked the drill not be used on my natural nail since I just had to take a break from nail enhancements for 3 months from painful rings of fire from the drill. I said I was ok using a buffing block instead which would be more gentle. That wasn't done nor was any prep past an alcohol wipe and quick pass around the cuticle with a different drill bit. Some of the hand painted tips weren't even and I didn't notice until I got home so I had to fix it myself. No cuticle cleanup either past that 30 second run around the cuticle line with the drill. 7 days later one snapped off at the apex. I went back to get this fixed - so now I'm at an hour+ extra from fixing the mismatched tips myself to having to go back for this break. Who has time for this? Now 10 days later 3 nails have popped off and 2 more are lifting. A dip mani should last 14 days minimum with no lifting. The nails that have popped off took layers of my natural nail with it, which is exactly what I was trying to prevent. The first nail tech I saw did good work and I would go back to her as long as we were clear on price beforehand. I'm super disappointed with my most recent experience - the lack of cuticle cleanup which detracts from the overall aesthetic of the mani, lack of proper prep, nails breaking at 7 days, and lifting after 9-10. I used to really like this place, but it has definitely gone downhill. Way too expensive for the equivalent of a normal mani/pedi anywhere else. It's about double the price and definitely doesn't feel like it. $200 for 2 mani/pedis (1 shellac) does not match the service you get! Last time, I went with my mom, they totally rushed us. One lady cut my mom's cuticle pretty badly, and then kept trying to paint over it while it was still bleeding, and then again when there was still cotton stuck to it! Once the lady finally painted her nails, she lobbed it on so quickly that it ended up being way too thick. Looked terrible and probably would have never dried. Then we had to ask 3 different people to fix it. Didn't get done until Hannah walked by, who was also totally rude about the situation. Inexcusable to be chasing someone down to fix your nails when you're the customer and should be relaxing. They ended up repainting a few of the nails, but didn't just redo the whole manicure, which they definitely should have. Now to my nails - my shellac mani is chipping after the first day. I regularly get shellac other places and it lasts 2-3 weeks!! Not sure if they use cheap or old shellac, but it just doesn't stay on. Also, charging $5 to soak off shellac is absurd. I had shellac on both my hands and feet and had to pay $10 on top of my $110 service to get shellac removed. Most places don't charge this unless you're just taking it off and not getting shellac put back on. Again, this shows their bad customer service. $200 for 2 mani/pedis (1 shellac) is definitely not worth it. Will not to return! Also, they give you a complimentary glass of wine or mimosa. In the past they would offer, but this time they didn't even offer it to us - we had to ask -twice. Such a joke how much of an attitude this place has for the price that they charge. read more

I've been coming here for about 2-3 years now and in the past one year, I've been coming more often (about every 3 weeks). I wish I could give them more than 5 stars, because they deserve it! All the ladies here and just phenomenal at their jobs and are always so sweet. I recommend this place to every single one of my friends and often give gift cards to here as birthday presents. Every time my mom is in town, I bring her here. The owner, Hannah, is such a sweetheart. She always greets me when I come in and asks me how me and my mom are doing. The Atmosphere: From the minute you walk in, these ladies do their absolute best to give you a relaxing and calming experience. I've never really made appointments, I've pretty much always just walked in and I've never waited more than maybe 5 minutes. They seat you right away and bring the colors swatched on fake nails so you don't have to spend time browsing the wall, trying to figure out how it's going to look on you (because it always looks different in the bottle). They never rush you, they're always more than happy to give you their opinion, and the only thing they ask you while you're looking is if you'd like a glass of wine, some water, soda, or a mimosa. There's always soft music playing in the background, and while the ladies do converse with one another, they're all so soft spoken that it honestly feels like being inside a relaxing spa. Manicures: I highly recommend anyone who goes here gets shellac. It's amazing! I used to get acrylics all the time before this place converted me. Acrylics made my nail bed so damaged and weak, but one of the ladies here introduced me to this serum to put on my nails to help them grow stronger. Once the damage from the acrylics was repaired (about 2-3 weeks after a full year of using them), Hannah recommended I try shellac instead to get that polished, lasting look I wanted. I did and I've been getting shellac ever since. My nails never chip, never peel, and look perfect even weeks later. I only go back when they grow out and the whites start showing. The ladies are also very good about getting the polish to dry as they keep working on your other hand, so there's no accidental "oh I moved around and messed up a nail!" They make sure that your nails are completely done before they move you. Pedicures: Pedicures here are the best! I've always just gotten regular nail polish, not shellac for my toes, and I've never had a problem. These ladies also know that a pedicure is way more than just polish though. They sit you down in these gigantic, super comfy massage chairs with enough room on the sides to put your stuff down. There are tons of comfy throw pillows around to relax against as well. Once again, they bring the color wheel to you, so there's no awkward staring at the wall. They start running the water, and I don't know how they do it, but they always get the perfect temperature. They put this sea salt and rose petal mixture into the water that softens up your feet while they soak and then they begin their process. First, they remove any nail polish you might have on. Then they start working on the shape of your toes (they always ask how you want them, never assume). Then, they move to cuticle care and skin care for your feet. Following this, they will either do a quicker massage or they'll start painting your toes. After they're done painting, they'll do a full leg message which gives your toes time to dry. Afterwards, they carefully slip your shoes on for you, or, if you wore closed toed shoes, give you a pair of disposable ones and sit you down with the fans to dry properly. Once you're done, you just head to the counter to pay and leave. If you did a mani and pedi combo, you don't need to move. Someone is doing your manicure right in your comfortable massage seat while another person works on your toes. It's so convenient! And the massages are so good that I've definitely fallen asleep a few times. The Service: I cannot stress enough how sweet all the ladies here are. They never yell, they never seem upset, they never pressure you into a service you don't want. They're always smiling, and even though their English isn't the best sometimes, they ALWAYS try to communicate with you and ask you how you're doing without being overbearing. I've never even had a moment of discomfort in the time I've been coming here. If you haven't come here already, you really should! The Prices: You can definitely find a cheaper salon. I believe a basic mani is $20, but it still includes a small massage. A basic pedicure is $33. I always get shellac manicures and my usual bill is $40 before tip. DEFINITELY worth the price. I wouldn't go anywhere else. As far as any bad reviews they've gotten, they just go to show that some people are never happy. Sigh. I used to really love this place and go here all the time. Sadly, I will have to give them 2 stars because of how poor their customer service was to me. I got my nails done this past Friday. I paid with my debit card, as usual, and their machine would not accept my card for whatever reason. It kept saying "chip malfunction" and "swipe error". I'm sure the lady checking me out could have entered in my card number manually, but I just handed over another card to save the trouble. That card DID go through. Now, the lady checking me out told me to check my bank account to see if I was charged on my debit card that originally didn't work and let them know if it charged me. So, I got in my car.. checked my Chase app to see my transactions, and my card, was in fact, charged twice. The first time it was charged, I got reimbursed the 40 back. The second time... I was not. So I called chase customer service and they told me the easiest way to get that 40 back was to go back to the merchant or else I would have to send Chase a copy of my receipt. I went back inside and when I came in, everyone acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. So.. they had me write down the card number so the manager could check the transactions the next day.. and they said the manager would give me a call back. Around 2 on the following day, I have yet to receive a call. So I called them. What a surprise, the manager still wasn't able to speak to me. I was told I was to be called. At around 4... finally got a call back. The manager told me that my card "was only charged once". Well, no shit. You charged my debit card once. And my credit card once. I'm so frustrated with the situation. I finally did get credited the 40 dollars back but only because of CHASE. Not because the salon credited it back to me. I am an Asian American woman myself and it's extremely frustrating to have an issue like this and have people not even understand what you're saying because of the language barrier. Overall, I think this establishment could have handled this issue better. This was enough to deter me from ever coming here again. read more

I've been to Plush many times and will certainly be back again. The studio is precious and although some nail techs are better than others, I'm typically very happy with the results. I've been doing shellac for a while, but today I tried the dip manicure. It lasts much longer than shellac and is supposed to be less damaging to nails. I often come as a walk-in and get seen fairly quickly. I think Kim gives the best massages!!! She and Hannah are my favorite nail techs. A top-notch nail salon in the heart of the Rice Village area that makes you feel like a million bucks after a mani-pedi session. It's been awhile since I've had a mani-pedi, and I wanted to treat myself to a nice one after the school year ended. After reading some reviews on Yelp, I decided to try out the recently-opened Plush Nail Studio in Rice Village. With a whopping 5-star rating, I had to check it out (and I'm glad that I did!). Located right across the way from Le Peep on Times Blvd (between Kelvin and Kirby), Plush is a small little establishment that looks modest on the outside but super luxe on the inside. The decor is modern yet feminine - with black/white furniture and cushy pillows. There are a few reserved parking spaces out front, but you can always find street parking within a block or two. Since I went on a Wednesday afternoon, it was easy enough for them to accept me as a walk-in, but they did recommend me to call in for a reservation if I ever wanted to come by during the weekends. At first, I was greeted by Quinn when I wanted to look at the service menu to check out their prices. Based on its location, I expected it to be pretty pricey for a regular mani-pedi, but I thought I'd give it a try to see what the hype was all about. Quinn then quickly escorted me to one of their six spa chairs and introduced me to Hannah, my pedicurist. Both Quinn and Hannah were super friendly, efficient, and paid very close attention to detail. As the foot tub was filling up, they offered me a complimentary drink (water, wine, soda, beer). While I guess I missed out on the 20% off special, they did offer me a free hydrating leg mask with services of $50+. They then hand you a deck of painted swatches of the OPI nail colors they had - it was very easy to choose! Before I go into the mani-pedi, let me tell you that this place's practice is quite different from those of your typical nail salons. They don't have those annoying massage chairs that make you jiggle all over, they don't have a jacuzzi foot tub covered in plastic, and they don't have their spa materials stored in plastic containers and plastic bags. Rather, they have a plush leather chair that you lounge with a warm neck wrap to sooth your muscles, a wonderfully scented and freshly-drawn foot bath with almond milk, rose petals, and grapefruit slices, and all of their lotions and scrubs were carried out on modern white plates and spoons. Hannah did a fantastic job with the pedicure - the light exfoliation scrub was great, the hydrating mask is heavenly (my legs are still tingling from the menthol even 2 hours after the pedicure!), the massage was nice, and my nails are ever so pretty. Lord knows I needed a good foot scrubbing after the winter months, and Hannah definitely took extra time and care to remove my dry skin. Quinn was also very good with the manicure - though it was a much simpler process than the pedicure, the Vitamin E/lotion massage was still nice and my nails looked great. My mani-pedi came out to be $20+$33 = $53 without tip, which is 1.5x more expensive than most other nail salons, but I personally think it's worth it. My nails look fabulous, and I hope they last! The ladies at Plush definitely take the time during the hour I was there to make me feel welcomed, relaxed, and beautiful. Added bonus: they have a loyalty card (Your 5th visit earns you a free mani, your 9th visit earns you a free pedi), and you can earn 15% off for referrals! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and will definitely be coming back. I'll definitely have to try out their shellac nails next time around. read more

I just called in, and their customer service SUCKS. I was tasked with finding a cute nail salon for our marketing team bonding day and I called this place because I came here a year ago and was super impressed with how cute of a salon was. The lady answered and I asked for pricing. Since this is going to a kind of a large group, we wanted to call around and make sure we were getting the best deal. The lady on the phone REFUSED to give me pricing. She kept going around my question and even set an appointment for me by saying "Okay, yes, you can come in today at 5" and was about to hang up. I told her I need pricing and would be going in next week and yet she still never answered my question and told me "Okay, when you find out what time and day you want to come in next week, give us a call." Literally had to ask her "So you're telling me that you won't give me pricing over the phone and will have to wait until I come in?" and she FINALLY gave it to me. I went through the most annoying 5 minute phone call I've ever had to sit through. A year ago I loved this place, their decor was nice and their ladies did a great job. BUT with this kind of customer service, I'm taking my business and my marketing team some where they'll actually want our business and not beat around the push when asked for info on their services. I am excited to announce that I have finally found my nail salon, and it is super close to home. This place is located on Times Blvd; if your turning onto Times from Rice, it will be in a strip on your left. I was immediately greeted and offered a beverage: either white or red wine, mimosa, beer, water or soda; I decided to try the mimosa and let me tell you that it was the perfect choice for this experience Let me say first that they do not have massaging chairs, but that is totally fine with me after this relaxing and pampered experience. They put a hot wrap around your neck that is filled with beans/beads that help relax your neck and shoulder muscles; can you saw AWESOME! I don't get nails when I get my nails done; I get an acrylic overlay on my natural nails because they are so thin and break easily. Allison is fantastic and did a great job; she even noticed what a horrible job the last person did (my fave lady left my last place so they put me with someone else, OMG, HORRIBLE). Allison is extremely personable, down to earth, friendly and she talks; I hate when you go to a salon, and they hardly talk or make an attempt to talk to you. She did such a great job not to leave them too thick and paid attention to the detail under my nails buffing away the extra. We discussed colors, and I LOVE the fact that they have a palate of nails already painted so you know what to expect. She actually convinced me to try a blue hue for springtime and found one for me that was more frosted, and I love it and so does Chris. I also opted for the PLUSHed Pedicure which included a sugar scrub and paraffin wax treatment (oh, how I missed paraffin). The young lady working on my feet did such a magnificent job and really massaged my feet, toes and arches thoroughly and erased my tension away. The day I went in, there were offering 20% off all services; I am not sure how long this is going to last so if you haven't been by, now is a GREAT time to check them out. After reading the great reviews for this place I decided to check it out with a friend, and I'm so glad I did! Everything about the experience was wonderful, from the clean, calm ambience of the salon, to the friendly attentive beauticians. The pedicure includes a soak with lovely scented salts and flower petals. I'd definitely suggest splurging on the scented pedi: for an extra $5 you get a delicious smelling clove aromatherapy neck pillow and an extra 15 minutes of massage. *UPDATE* I still absolutely love this salon but if you have sensitive skin, BEWARE!! They have a cooling gel in their "scent serenity" pedi that may cause you to breakout. I have a rash and my legs are itchy. I know it's the cooling gel because the owner told me the rest of her products all are organic and homemade. I'll continue coming here but I'll definitely pass on the cooling gel. If you have sensitive skin be cautious! I've been to many nail salons around the country. I'll be the first to admit I am super picky when it comes to my mani/pedi. They are pricey, all things considered, and I want it done perfectly. I was not disappointed today at Plush. The ambience of the salon is relaxing. Quiet piano music is played, the chairs are comfortable, the girls are sweet and accommodating. They were very quick, taking only an hour for a mani and pedi. I came here with high expectations from the good reviews I have read from here. I made an appointment for 5 pedicures and we all arrived on time. The ambiance of this place is very "chill" and it was really modern. When I was ready to get into my pedicure chair, I noticed that, you kind of have to just climb into it. There's no arm rest to lift up and the water was already 3/4 full sooo... I kind of see it as a safety hazard. The presentation of colors is nice. It was really pretty how there was fruit and rose petals floating in my water. We all got started on but it seemed like, all of us didn't get the same thing. They didn't ask us what kind of pedicures we wanted, they just did whatever they wanted to do. I saw my friend get these gold flecks on her legs, getting a massage with fruit and everything. While mine? Was basic of the basic. A man walked in and said he wanted his pedicure done with Quynh? I believe. Quynh was already working on one of my friends, after she was done polishing the shellac, my tech, Laura, rushed on my polishing, put on my shoes, not even noticing that she messed up my toe to finish up my friend's pedicure so Quynh is not late for her appointment. I went to this place on Sunday, after not being able to make my appointment at Isle Pedi Spa. This was my first time visiting since the new management took over (previously it was Hair and Nails By Julie), so I thought that I would see what the new fuss was about. I'm glad that I went on a Sunday evening, because the parking situation is pretty cumbersome in The Village. It's very nicely decorated, and, they had a Christmas tree with surprise discounts as ornaments. My discount was a free mask (wasn't entirely sure what it was, but I'm all for free). I like that they sterilize all of the instruments and they have a good selection of polish. I really enjoyed my pedicure. I've led an extremely hectic lifestyle this fall, juggling two jobs and dealing with a move, so I've being doing the bare minimum to appear presentable to the public - I hadn't cared about manicures and pedicures in months and it showed. The two technicians that I was assigned to were extremely polite and attentive. It wasn't a cheap experience, but the end result was about on par with what I spend at Isle Pedi Spa, when I'm feeling indulgent, so I wasn't that shocked by the sticker price. The only reason that I'm not giving a 5 star rating is because I detest their pedicure chairs. You have to step up and climb into the chair. The arm rests don't lift, so it's like a balancing act, trying to maneuver yourself into the chair without slipping and falling. Matters are further complicated if they've already started filling the basin with water. If they need to move the chair during the pedicure, they (or you) have to scoot the chair forward or backward manually. It's really a pain and takes away from the experience. I know that I'll go back at some point, but those chairs are a bummer. read more

Mani/pedi at Plush this weekend. I was able to get in on short notice which was a huge plus. Both people really took their time and did a great job. I felt very pampered and my toes look great. I knew I shouldn't have bothered to splurge on a manicure. I basically chipped it the second I left. It's been 3 days and I would say 4 of my fingers still have "just left the salon" polish levels. (This is most likely my fault and not a function of the quality of the nail salon.) Everything looked very clean and sanitized. Comfortable spa chairs. Went here on a whim since I was in the area to get shellac removed. Cute place, but didn't seem super clean. My manicure seemed rushed and rough. The technician didn't allow the shellac to soak long enough and decided to scrape and file the rest off. Overall wound up with uneven scratched up nails. Not sure I'll be back. read more

Definitely, a great salon. Love the decor. This place is gorgeous!!! The service is excellent. All the girls who work there so so pleasant, sweet, and super friendly. They did a fantastic job on my Shellac manicure and "lady pedicure." I love that they soak your feet in almond milk, fresh orange slices, and flower petals, too. So fancy, smells heavenly, and my feet are so soft! They also offer you a complimentary glass of wine or a mimosa. My girl friend and I went in and just had an over all very awesome experience! I'd highly recommend it for a special day of pampering. Unfortunately, their prices are just a bit too high for my routine mani/pedi's but I'll be back for special occasions, for sure! read more

Very cute place! Very clean and professional. The staff was friendly and did a very good job. My friend and I both got pedicures and shellac manicures. This was my friends first experience getting his nails done, and he loved it! Our feet are so soft and the nail Polish is perfect! They gave really good massages as well. They have a pretty good selection of shellac colors. They really took their time during the shellac manicures to make sure it looked good. They also offered us mimosas...so we just drank mimosas and relaxed for 2 hours. It was a little expensive..but overall great experience, would definitely go back! read more

Love this place! I come here often for pedicures and shellac manicures. The staff is sweet, accommodating, and super talented. Just today I came in to get my shellac taken off (it had been a week and a half), but the owner touched up the minor chips and cracks completely free of charge. She even put a fresh gel coat on all of my nails, so they look nice and shiny. Now THAT'S customer service! read more
