Finally a wonderful Mexican restaurant in Cobble Hill! This place is in the old Broccolino space. They have a great bar with delicious drinks. The food is very authentic and so scrumptious! We had the chips & salsa (nice thick chips and fresh salsa) and the homemade guacamole. So good! My husband had the crispy beef tacos (3) and he loved them. I had the veggie soft tacos with corn. Yum! Just enough food. I will definitely go back. Finally a new place that is worth a second look UPDATE 12/30/19 I really hope they are not going to be a victim of their success. Came tonight for dinner and they were packed. Every table and the bar was taken (yay!) Most of the tables still had menus (not a good sign). This is for the owners/management: they need to staff up! The ONE waitress was so behind and trying her best. It took forever for a drink because the bartender was trying to help wait tables and run food. The food is good and we will go back, but bad service (not for lack of trying) is a hard no for us. Hire more people. It's very simple. read more

My husband and I have ordered from here at least five times since opening and enjoyed the most incredible, if pricy, Mexican food - crispy, sizzling quesadillas and intensely flavorful, mouthwatering carnitas. We had high hopes for Purapecha and were excited to call it our new standby for authentic, expertly prepared Mexican cuisine. Unfortunately, our delivery experience here last night was so incredibly disappointing and unpleasant that our search continues. $50 bought us the soggiest quesadillas that would make 7-11's look gourmet, overly greasy carnitas tacos laden in water, and ice-cold, mushy enchiladas. We called to let management know, looking for nothing in return, and to say our feedback was not well-received would be an understatement. They were defensive, unfriendly and couldn't have cared less. I'm not sure if there is a new chef or just general lack of care in the kitchen, but we sadly won't be ordering from them again. read more

This food is so. good!! If you are on the fence about the steak quesadilla, just get it, you deserve it.

The food was average to above average but the service was not good and they nickle and dime you. The waiter never came back to check on our food, see if we wanted more water or drinks. They charged us $6 for chips and salsa, about 20 chips, and then wanted $4 for more chips. They're also very cheap with the guacamole, only gave about a teaspoon on the plate. Out of the Mexican restaurants in the area, this one stands out for its food quality. The San Angel burrito is my favorite, with tasty skirt steak, melted cheese topped with a pork gravy. The skirt steak steals the show. The Rancho burger is great too; hefty and with the necessary toppings to make a burger complete - bacon and cheese. Just be sure to mention how you'd like it cooked, as the default is a medium-well which can be too charred for my taste. It comes with fries, which makes it a great deal. One of the rudest, strangest, jaw droopingly unbelievable experiences I've ever had in any restaurant anywhere. We had had drinks at the bar a few weeks back and decided to try the food last night. The place was about 25% occupied indoors. As we wanted to sit inside we requested that of the host who greeted us at the entrance. He rudely and abruptly demanded our vaccine cards and ID. I felt like I was in an episode of Seinfeld and the soup nazi was now working at Purepecha. We didn't say anything but reached for our vaccine cards (we are both fully vaccinated). As we did so the host then rudely demanded that we wear masks until we reached our table and referred us to the sign on the door. I put on my mask and started to read the sign which stated that only no-vaccinated persons were required to wear masks. It was at that moment I notice HE WAS NOT WEARING A MASK!!! I questioned him and asked why we (fully vaccinated) were required to wear a mask to our table when he (vaccination status unknown) could freely wander the restaurant all night long, speaking to people, around food, where his spittle might land on the food, the people, etc. He basically told us that the rules don't apply to him. Not sure why. Now we don't oppose wearing masks or not wearing masks and are compliant with whatever the rules are, but the hypocrisy was just amazing. You demand (yes, demand in a very rude manner) that we wear masks to our table but you don't have to wear one at all? Huh? I was so turned off by his attitude and his unreasonableness that I said we changed our mind and would eat elsewhere. As we were walking out he said "Good, Go". One last word and directive from him. I'm not sure who the owners of this restaurant are, and I know it's difficult to get help these days, but this type of attitude should not be tolerated or accepted. We wound up at Barbalu around the corner and had an amazing meal with kind people who appreciated our business. This review is for a Grubhub delivery order. It is difficult to judge the food on its own merit because the order took 1.5 hours and my friend and I were antsy by the time it arrived. I had to call the restaurant 3 times to check on it after they missed the estimated delivery time (that was already 45 mins to an hour - a conservative estimate for the burrito,chips and guac and salad we ordered). I was very excited to give this new place a try. The food was kind of "meh" after the long wait for it. Plenty of better places to order from in the neighborhood. Don't waste your time. read more
