I gave them 2 stars because their service sucks! The food is decent but they are some nasty people. They argue with you, and will not deliver until 12 pm now, when the menu states otherwise. They seem to think they are the only game in town, but they are wrong. They get on my last nerve. If you eat there service is a little better but they are till very rude. read more

I won't judge their food because I never eat there but I always buy birthday cakes there so today 09/04/2015 I buy a cake for my sister they put on the name and seal the box when I go to my car and open the box part of the cake were damage and one of the rose on top were off so my advice is to open your box before taking your cake out the door. read more

I always come here for the baked goods, have yet to try the food, expect for the empanadas which are huge and very filling. For $1.50 each the empanadas are pretty tasty. A bit too greasy for my liking but otherwise they are ok. The coffee is nice and strong the way I like it, and the pastries omg..you can get a piece of cake for $2.50. That's sooo cheap! I have yet to try the food, but I plan to sometime, such a shame I never discovered this spot sooner seeing as how I live in the neighborhood. read more

I would avoid this place if there was another option near by but unfortunately there is not. Half the time I order food here they get the order wrong. Also, expect to wait a long time before anyone comes to you to take your order and expect to wait another 30 mins or so after you place your order for you food. The tres Leche was magnificent. The dominican style cake with pineapple done Colombian syle was done better than most authentic dominican cakes minus the suspiro which would have taken it over the moon but the whipped cream wash fresh tasty and a wonderful compliment to the moist flavorful cake with chunks of pineapple the way it should be. The dulce de Leche filling in the tres Leche was invigorating. The coffee was wonderful as well with the hot steamed milk to accompany it. Overall this is a great establishment to patronize. read more

If I didn't know any better I would think I was in Jackson Heights when stepping into this place. Awesome Colombian bakery and restaurant. Items are very nicely priced as well, not expensive at all and the portions are generous! I wish some of the spots in Jackson Heights were still like this, to me, this place is a throwback, a pleasant one. Drawbacks are that it's usually pretty busy, hard to get a table at dinner time on the weekends, average service and parking is not easy. Incredibly delicious coffee and typical Colombian bakery goods. The empanadas were fresh and tasty as well. I've come here several times throughout the years, and unfortunately phone orders don't work out as well as in-person orders. I speak Spanish fluently and still received incomplete orders (twice). A real shame because both those times I was raving about the food to some friends, convinced them to order from here and each time something was forgotten or left out. Unfortunately, I've given up trying to order from here with friends, however my husband and I still make our way there for the really great food and amazing coffee. Only reason im giving this 2 stars is because the food was good and a big portion. The service is horrible, they brought out the food and never came back to check on us, the only table in the restaurant. I had to get up and go to the cashier to pay the bill because they're to busy behind the counter laughing they couldn't hear we were calling. The food was absolute tasteless, the meat was bland and the chicken really dry. I've eaten here for many years but the last couple of times not a good experience with the food. The bakery is pretty good (that's my reason for the 2 stars) even though the empanadas were really hard. I remember I used to get crazy here and get $40 worth of goodies every Sunday, but now I don't think I'm coming back anytime soon. The food tastes great and they have a large array of desserts,although not really listed on the menu(they are on display as u walk in). Terrible service. The food is okay at best, but I can get better quality food across the street at el Rey or down the block in another Colombian restaurant. The servers are so slow and have such an attitude it's kind of mind boggling that they can operate. They have like 8 servers on a shift and none of them can get it together to even take your order 15 mins of you waiting... also I understand that this is a Spanish restaurant but there should be at least one employee who speaks well enough English to be able to communicate my questions and take my order. read more

Punto Rojo offers a great selection of meats for the lunch crowd and bakery goods. Personally, I usually get the whole chicken and split it with a co-worker. My gf took me there recently. Recommended the empanadas and natural juice drink. Place was clean and pleasant to dine in, and service was good. Ordered one chicken and one beef empanada. Not lucky with empanadas as I got very sick in South America a few years ago after eating one. Feeling more confident this time as this is NY and place looked clean. Had only the beef empanada with the fruit juice and took the chicken one home. Woke up at midnight with vomiting and diarrhea. No more empanadas for me ever. Be careful. read more

Would have liked to give this place a 3 or even 4, but the way this business is set up is sloppy to say the least. This might be by mistake or on purpose....I went here recently and bought some mixed empanadas, breads and chicharron. I placed my order with one person behind the counter who was placing the items in the bag, and being attentive. However, who I assume to be the manager steps in and starts ringing things up on the register quickly. I thought this was odd but figured it was because they were busy. I took a look at the check and figured it a little high, but having not been here before let it go as them just being pricier than some of the more "fast food" versions around. Turns out I would have been better off going for the fast food. The breads were decent, but the empanadas had a funny taste to the meat filling. Could have been just the spices but as I am a large fan of empanads and am used to different flavors, I'm more inclined to think they may have been kinda off in a, gastric forecast calls for thunderstorms kinda way. Anyway, back to the check. Upon further inspection and looking at the takeout menu, as the check was not itemized, our bill was hiked up and we were OVERCHARGED to top things off. I have given this place a few chances before writing this review. I have to say every time I was more disappointed. No seasoning in the food AT ALL. When ordering to go it is so unorganized. There's no space to wait for your food servers are always running into you. Food is overpriced for the quality. When we arrived home we realized all our food was not packed... Went here because of yelp reviews since most of the places around the court house are suspect. The place has 2 sitting areas; one in front and then glass cases showcasing desserts then more tables in back. There are flat panel TVs around the back dining area showing Spanish music videos. The prices were a little on the higher side say $8-18 for entrees for a place in this neighborhood. I had the 1/2 chicken with Spanish rice and plantains with a can of soda for about $9.25. This was one of the lowest priced entree I could find on the menu. The higher priced entrees are steak and fish. The dark meat on the chicken was good but the white meat was too dry and not marinated enough. Spanish rice was good and the 2 large plantains were flattened then fried, both were good and tasty. It was served with a small salad with marinated beans, the salad tasted good but the lettuce was a little wilted. Punto Rojo is above average but I wouldn't go there for lunch every day. read more
