Beef/Chicken empanada? So they say, its more like potato with a strand of chicken/beef.

Just bought beef and chicken empanadas, $2 each. For the price im paying I expect more(size wise) but I thought okay inflation. But I was so shocked I dont even know which one was which, i felt like i ate potato empnada with 2 strands of meat (if I was lucky). It was not beef/ chicken it was potato, please tell me where was the meat??? I dont know how many family members they have giving all these fake good reviews about their empanadas. But there is no beef/chicken its just potato. It feels like they are not even trying to put meat in it.

Loved how they actually listened to how I wanted my Chorizo cooked well done & cut into slices. Usually Colombian bakeries & restaurants never want to listen so it was plus for me! First time having their arepa con queso and it was delicious! Their empanadas are definitely the best I ever had! Highly suggest coming here if you're craving empanadas!

We ordered a burger from this place during my lunch hour. When I got back to my office I took a bite and realized the Burger was not cooked! I return backed to them and the staff had a whole attitude about it. They didn't even apologize. This was our go to place but this was very bad service!

*CASH ONLY* Oh the empanadas are amazing. Beef has good flavor and the outside has a slight crunch. Must have the hot sauce. Grilled steak w/ rice and beet or potato salad are very good as well. I also tried the oz tail soup. That was eh. Not flavorful so I'll skip this. Prices are reasonable.

This is a tiny, busy Colombian restaurant. I picked to come here because it was so close my cousin's house and because I wanted colombian food. I ordered three empanadas , chicken ,cheese and beef and all were delish. I also order the paisero plate. It was a bit low on salt and seasoning but overall fatteningly good.

Three point five stars for my first but certainly not my last trip to the Palace of Empanadas if my translation is correct. Early on a Saturday morning, very little is open north of the LIE but south of Jewel Ave and in full functional food serving swing. Less that dissuade my persuit of sustenance, hopefully of the spicey and gut filling kind. I certainly found that within the clean, modern corner empanada spot, but it wasn't an empanada day just yet. Ordering the most pricey menu item set me back $9.00 and filled me to the brim, no further eating was necessary as the hours passed me by to early evening. The rice and beans lurking below the pounded shoe leather beef and the beautifully herbed scrambled egg had to tip the scales at a full pound. I walked with my posture on a slight tilt to my illegally parked car, bursting non- biodegradable food holder in hand, which I consumed while parked outside. The street parking is boarder line impossible. I pulled my overstuffed torso from my cars interior with a mighty Heeve Hoo, in deep thought about this not delicious, not even really good meal. On one hand the quantity was significant but all accounts of taste unfortunately fell short into the 'just average in taste' category, but I sense my next visit will yield much more positive findings, hopefully minus the half day of over consumption waddling.

Very good soup, we ask for a small as we had no idea what to expect. The bandeja tipica is $21. For the price you get rice and beans with avocado, a fried egg, longaniza, thinly pounded steak, a piece of sweet plantain and chicharron. We asked for some of the home made hot sauce and we got a some slightly picant vinaigrette that had cilantro and onions, very good bit no spice for my taste buds. However the meal is good enough to feed 2 hungry souls. My wife and i were very stuffed. We noticed they advertised mondongo soup but that is only on Sunday and Wednesday, so we will jave to come back and try it for sure. Our server Maria was very cordial, attentive and friendly. Definitely a new spot to enjoy Spanish food.

I'm not going to pretend that I am the best person to determine what an authentic Colombian experience is (never had the pleasure of visiting Colombia), but if this isn't it, I can't imagine what they're missing. The staff speaks to you in Spanish exclusively, which made me glad one of my boys is Honduran. The TVs all over the place are playing what appear to be Colombian music videos that were made in the 80s featuring old men and attractive young women. They've got buckets of Colombian beer and frosted mugs so cold that the beer turned to slush around the sides. They've got a platter called the Bandeja la Berraca that consists of rice, beans, steak, plantains, eggs, avocado salad, little corn cakes, blood sausage, other sausage (amazing), and a giant side of chicharron. Eat and drink to you're bursting, while adorable Colombian kids run around the place. And rejoice that you live in NYC, where these things can be had.

The drinks were off I couldn't exactly point what was wrong. Maybe the Coke was flat I'm not sure but it just wasn't good. As for the food, my friend got the steak (well done which he says is the only way that steak should be eaten, I beg to differ) as well as the chicken. The food is incredibly land, and my chicken was honestly wet for a lack of better terms. I can't recall the last time that pechuga (chicken breast) was wet and that's probably because it's not supposed to be! The only reason that I gave this place two stars is that the employees here were nice, but I wouldn't return especially when there are many better spots nearby- not necessarily for Colombian food but great food in general.

Colombian arepas (or at least the ones here) come with a sweet, corn tortilla and are more open faced: to be eaten with a fork. In the past, I've had flour tortillas that are designed more like a taco and eaten as a handheld. So despite the differences, I (and my friends) enjoyed our meal. Let the official record state, I ordered the arepas con queso with chorizo. We had plans to eat our way through Jackson Heights, but because a couple of the places we planned to visit were closed, we actually just mostly hung out here and enjoyed our arepas of the sweet and open-faced variety. It was a good afternoon.

Before this, if someone mentioned arepas, I probably would have confused them with pupusas, which I'd only seen at street fairs and thought of as more of a sweet item. I had no idea they came in savory versions too. I went with the carne asada arepa, and the beef was fresh, juicy, and cooked just right. It's so common for places to overcook little chunks of beef, but here it was perfect. Each arepa is big enough to split between two people, so the price feels very fair. The filling was generous, with beef packed inside and even overflowing out the sides. They also serve the arepas with a rack of five or six sauces to choose from. Some were spicy, and one had a sweet condensed milk flavor if you like a mix of sweet and savory. My go to ended up being this green mayonnaise sauce which I assumed was like some sort of a lime mayo, which added the perfect tartiness to the rich cheese filling.
