    Chicken Empanadas

I stumbled upon this Empanada truck on my way back home from Target. The menu is very basic. They offer cheese, chicken, beef, and vegetable empanadas. They also have homemade drinks: Passionfruit and Chinola, Soda, Water, Iced Coffee, and Hot Coffee. I tried the beef empanadas a week ago which was delicious. I decided to try the chicken empanadas this time around. While they were good I think I'd stick with the beef empanadas. They were seasoned well. The chicken empanadas had too much of a citrusy flavor to it. I felt like the lime was overkill.

Food truck on Austin St. and 70 Rd. Mainly empanadas. One of the more affordable options in the area. $4 per empanada, maybe 2-3 of them would be a meal. The beef empanada was nice, while the chicken was dry. There are a couple of public benches nearby, which is convenient. They put napkins and ketchup packets in the bag--plenty of restaurants forget to do that.

What others are complaining as airy is actually the best part of this empanada for me. Honestly, I prefer a fluffy and crispy crust compared to some hard piece of cardboard many places serve. I do wish there was more filling, but the beef was pretty flavorful. With a little Cholula hot sauce and some of the green sauce, this homemade hot pocket tasted quite delicious. At $4 for one empanada, it feels a little bit overpriced. However, I like the fact that I could buy a single empanada when I want just a snack.

Best chicken empanada I've ever had!!! Always fresh, hot and meaty! It's $4 but it's the size of my hand and definitely worth it.

I grabbed one. Hi ken and one beef empanada and I have to say by far they're some of the best I've had in New York. Packed with flavor, the best part was the fact that the meat inside wasn't dry at all on the other hand both the chicken and beef were very juicy.

Abuela's Empanadas have been around for a while, I first had their Empanadas in LIC and fell in love with their Empanadas con Pollo y Queso. Then I started noticing more trucks around queens (Under the Queenboro plaza train station and Rockaway beach). I recently got some empanadas near rockaway beach, first of all the prices have increased about 3 dollars more which is sad (now each Empanada is about 5-7 dollars). To complete your meal ask for some sauce. Definitely not going back as much as I used to or else I'll go broke.

Abuela's empanadas are some of the best wheat empanadas that I've ever had. They are located in carts around NYC and I've loved seeing them expand to be near more of my favorite parks and spots in NYC. I usually frequent the LIC truck and the Rockaway Beach truck. They have a great variety of flavors though usually they're out of stock of the flavors other than the basic chicken with cheese and chicken and beef. The price is a little steep for one empanada but it is worth it as it's pretty substantial. The truck accepts cash, card, and Apple pay which is really convenient. Be sure to ask for sauces to go with your empanada.

    Apple Pay NOT accepted.

Good empanadas but knocking off two are because the truck clearly shows Apple Pay as a payment method but they did not accept it when we tried to pay. Had to make a mad dash home to get a card, very inconvenient and false advertising.

Very good soup, we ask for a small as we had no idea what to expect. The bandeja tipica is $21. For the price you get rice and beans with avocado, a fried egg, longaniza, thinly pounded steak, a piece of sweet plantain and chicharron. We asked for some of the home made hot sauce and we got a some slightly picant vinaigrette that had cilantro and onions, very good bit no spice for my taste buds. However the meal is good enough to feed 2 hungry souls. My wife and i were very stuffed. We noticed they advertised mondongo soup but that is only on Sunday and Wednesday, so we will jave to come back and try it for sure. Our server Maria was very cordial, attentive and friendly. Definitely a new spot to enjoy Spanish food.

The steak in the Colombian breakfast was on the salty side, and the sausage was a bit too crispy for my taste, but otherwise, the food hit the spot.
