Found this place on Google while looking for a quick bite in the area. Located on a little corner, on the ground floor of what seems to be someone's house, one finds this nicely built little corner store. It is basically two windows. One for ordering and the other for pick ups. They sell corn and wheat (they call it "white flour") dough/wrapping empanadas with a small selection of "stuffings". We tried their beef ones in their two different denominations. They were "OK". They operate similarly to "Mama's Empanadas" where, if you haven't been to them, they fry your empanadas upon ordering. The positive would be that you get a freshly made product... but, the big negative is that you'd have to wait 10-5 mins for your empanada(s).... and this is you standing out on a sidewalk... hot... or cold. We got courteous, "as speedy as this process could go" service. I found their sauces to be somewhat average. The establishment: cute. I liked how nicely the structure as a whole is kept. I must admit that I am surprised at the amount of 5 star reviews this place has got. Having experienced life as a local in a Latin country, I can't comprehend having to wait 15 mins. for a product of this quality. Empanadas are typically the type of snack that you get quickly or even on the go. Nevertheless, I do congratulate the owner(s) of the establishment for they definitely seem to have a great fan base. Cheers*

Pre-ordered party tray (we chose half beef and half chicken). 50 pcs. Mini empanadas.

We love the empanadas and have ordered party trays of minis for various get togethers. The trays are nicely packaged and sturdy for transport and serving. Great finger food option for large groups. Don't forget the green sauce!

The spot The lady at the register is always nice. I love his place. I tried something different. This time. I got the vegetable and the spinach regatta very satisfying.

A cash-only carryout where the scantily clad cashier would clearly rather have been speaking Spanish (mine is quite limited), I had a range of breakfast options to select and was within walking distance of the US Open (among other attractions). They do have a vegan empanada with only vegetables for those in need, but I went for some with cheese, as well as a Nutella banana dessert. The dessert was good, but they had some little ice cream pops that I rather wished I'd noticed as well. My jalapeño cheese and my spinach ricotta were filling, and the crusts delightfully crisp. Paying in cash cost a bit less, and while they had only a few standing areas to eat at the corner, taking my food to the park seemed a better decision. It was distinctive, delicious, and convenient.

Well this place has been open for years. They can do better for the public . Now you can't even sit Inside and the place has an outside speaker service . Took like 45min to get our empanadas. 3 total and 1 coffee. And price was a little overpriced for empanadas. The service to public is not very kind. Be ready to wait!!!!!

This is a small place that you can order online, over the phone or at the place, by placing your order through a window. The order system is interesting but effective. I had a school event (I am a PTA MOM and must do parent engagement event) this was a excellent hot appetizer. I ordered 2 trays of 50 each. They give you a card with what each color line is. I recommend this place.

So cool!! Empanadas Cafe mark their empanadas and provide a guide! So you know what you're getting

4.5 stars! The website, Yelp! info and advertisements all say order trays a day in advance...but we gave it a shot and called at 5pm Saturday during a busy holiday weekend. By 6pm we had a beautiful tray of 50 mixed mini empanadas for game night - such a hit with all!! The only caveat was they gave us a mix of what was on hand - a very fair trade for having our platter in an hour! Yummy and fresh, as well as beautifully presented. Amazing bonus they color code their empanadas and offer a guide - no surprises! THANKS!

After a fulfilling family funday at the Queens Zoo, we were famished and looking for some grub we could take home. After searching Yelp, we found Empanada Cafe, which was only a few minutes from our location. The reviews looked promising. We pulled up but there is very limited parking in the area. You will likely have to park in non-spots to order and just wait in your car to hear you name. Be sure to either park close and keep your windows open or have someone wait nearby to hear the name on the order. They have a loudspeaker that is audible. They have two windows from which you can order and have menus prominently displayed as well as QR codes so you can view on your phone. They are very efficient in how they take orders. There are bursts of customers...it gets a bit crowded and then they kind of disperse, and then another wave begins to roll in. This is a grab & go joint, just a small store where they cook and serve. It's your job to find your table but their empanadas are definitely travel-friendly, so eat them in the car, wait until you get home and drive on over to the park and grab a bench. You won't be disappointed whatever you do. They have tons of empanada flavors from which to choose, white and corn flour (gluten free!) as well. There are enough veg options that anyone would be happy ordering from here. A big plus is that they had pretty much everything on the menu available for purchase. I hate going to a spot with so many options and the ones you want, they end up not having. We did not experience that here. Also be sure to ask for both sauces. They are very generous with both but I have to say that the green sauce is my fave. I bought enough for a small army, along with some helados to the ride. I loved the passion fruit and babes had the strawberry & cream, the latter being more of an ice-cream and the former, more of a frozen ice. They both tasted really good but pineapple might be the one to get. That's the only thing they ran out of. Empanada Flavors: Beef & Cheese - very good. Every one of their empanadas had a great filling to dough ratio. This one did not have too much cheese which I appreciate. Carne (beef & potato) - again, there is care put into how they fill these little pockets of goodness. The seasoning is on point. Chicken - hubbs got this and liked it. I've never been a fan of just plain chicken so I didn't taste. Quinta (chicken & cheese) - corn flour empanada that tastes amazing. I'm not too keen on chicken and I got this for my tiny tot. She ate a little more than half so I took a couple bites and was amazed by the flavor. It has a slight sweetness from the dough and again, just enough cheese. Maduro - sweet plantain with mozzarella cheese...soo very good! It's huge IMO and this one had a hefty amount of cheese in it but it definitely needs the salty to balance the sweetness from the plantain. I even doused it in their green sauce and it was amazing. Chicharrones (pork) - my son got this one and I didn't taste but he was happy with the choice. Bacalao (salted cod & potato) - I was looking forward to this one. I love salt fish anything, so I was happy to see this on the menu. It's solid and there's plenty of potato to temper the saltiness of the fish. Hawaiian - ham, cheese and pineapple...of course this one was good. Hubby ordered it and was ecstatic with his choice. Jalapeño - not sure because we never received it. I ordered it but it was not in our bag. We ordered so many and were starving that I didn't even check all the bags. All in all, everything was great. We were 25 minutes from where we live and the empanadas held the heat until we got home. There was no reason to reheat. Even the strawberry and cream hekado made the trip with no issue and without melting. Obviously, keep track of your order because they are banging out empanadas back to back, to customers. The good thing is that all of the little baggies are marked with the flavors on them so you can easily check and make sure your order it correct. I will not remove any stars over our missing jalapeño because ultimately that was my fault for not checking. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They will definitely be a go to for us when we're in the area.
