I've been coming here for over twenty years. I've had every empanada that doesn't contain pork. They're all absolutely delicious. They're all so good, we can't choose a favorite. From the cheese only, to the cheeseburger, to the spicy chicken, beef, spinach and cheese, rice egg and cheese, just close your eyes and order and you're in for a treat. Ordered delivery from this location and they did the same thing they do in the Astoria location. The empanadas are good but the problem I have is they never give me the sauce I request. I ask for red sauce and they give green and pink sauce. We all know it's all about the sauce. For us it's the red sauce that taste good and makes the empanadas good. The empanadas are incredible! I have been picking up food from here for years actually- there's quite a few locations around but I always find myself heading to this location. The workers are pleasant- fluent in English and Spanish- and serve with a smile. I usually call ahead of time and pick it up since it will take about 20 minutes for all the empanadas to be cooked. My favorite is the CHEESEBURGER empanada! It's a must when you come here! I'll always get atleast two of those and try some randoms that I haven't had before. Never have I been disappointed with any new ones I try. I love the variety here! They hired these two new ladies. One is much older than the other. But she is struggling to keep up. To order on the phone you have to wait 10 min on the phone if you're "lucky". Once you get here you have to wait additionally on the same line to order even tho you call ahead. This place sucks now. It was so good but now it's so slow. I had been to another location once and it was good so we decided to try this one this time around. The service is fast but they do make you wait outside unless you ordered in advance (via phone). The prices are same as anywhere else. The filling selection is insane and hard to choose from. Whew! My coworker brought back take out from here for lunch for the staff, and it was excellent. I love me a good empanada, and they serve different flavors of empanadas that I've never seen before, so I had to try each one that caught my eye. My coworker brought Mama's Empanadas one day, but the one by Queens Center Mall. They were delicious and so was the green sauce!! Since I was in the area, I decided to order from this JH location for my family. I ordered a bunch of empanadas and paid like $26. I wanted to try them while they were freshly made so I ate the Biagra in my car and it was not tasty. Tried a beef one and again, it wasn't hittin the spot. After a long trek back to Jerz, I gave my mom and aunt the chicken empanadas and they said it was meh. The green sauce wasn't all that either. There are so many empanadas to choose from! Varying from sweet/dessert fillings to savory ones, there's so many options. My 2 goto ones are the beef and potato or the chili one. The beef and potato is milder, and has a lot of potato whereas the chili one has more of a spicy kick. They have 2 sauces to choose from, the verde and the rojo. Personally, I prefer the green one because it's spicy whereas the other one is really creamy. I wish they had the chili in regular wheat instead of just corn because the corn one is a bit too dense for me, and can be a bit tough and chewy. Empanadas were decent, but they take forever to make!!! Quoted time: 10-15 min. Actual time: 45 min. It wasn't even a large order! (Ordered only 6 empanadas). I don't mind waiting, but there's nothing that pisses a customer off more than giving erroneous wait times. Oh and they call numbers at random. I got a similar size order as someone else and they called her number before mine. I get that they have a lot of large orders but waiting more than 10-15 min for a small order is pretty ridiculous no matter how busy you are. If that's the case, either hire more staff or figure out a better system for taking orders. If I hadn't already paid, I would've walked out after the 20 min. mark. By 30 minutes,I really wanted to just get a refund and go home after a long day. Don't come here if you were expecting a fast snack. Go only during off hours. Ordered several frozen empanadas for nearly $40 and asked for a few cups of sauce and the lady with blonde hair with a nasty attitude says it's not included with frozen purchases - lol. well i finally hit this spot after hearing so many good reviews and boy was I in for a treat. My friends and I got one of EVERY flavor, even the desserts (which I didnt like lol) My all tome favorites were the cheeseburger, cuban, and hotdog!!!
