49. Chicharron y Chorizo Arepa Combination de 2
Ben L.

So I have to say the food was delicious but they ripped me off and didn't even tell me until I noticed. I ordered the Friday soup special which was 13.99 after ordering the lady came back saying she didn't have a sancocho style chicken but she could have it substituted for beef or chicken she didn't bother to tell me that it was gonna cost six bucks extra just because it was a piece of grilled chicken. Service was good until I realized that. Ambience great. So food wise I'd give it five stars but since they charged me without letting me know.

29. Tiras de Lomito - so good, but pricey

If the meal is cheap here, there's a reason why... I came for lunch with a friend and I ordered Bistec a Caballo ($14.25): grilled steak topped with 2 eggs, yellow rice, and French fries--the steak was awful. And if the main protein doesn't taste good, the rest of meal is disappointing. The only reason I'm giving a 3-star rating, though, is because my friend ordered Tiras de Lomito ($40) and it was goooooood--but again, it's because it's on the pricey side. Overall the experience is ok, not something I need to repeat, but the restaurant ambiance is busy non-stop, so very happy for them!

We were in the area and decided to check this spot out as we were in the mood for chicharron and our friends recommended it. I'm so happy we popped by! It wa super busy, loud, and fairly packed, and seems to be a local favorite with many regulars eating there. That being said, we were seated pretty quickly. The staff was very friendly and kind, answering whatever questions we had and making recommendations. We ended up ordering Repollina al Patron, Arepa Combinacion, and Lomo de Cerdo a la Parrilla. For drinks, we decided to try the Lulo and Burojo. The Repollina was absolutely delicious! It's a mix of chicharron, chorizo, shrimp, and shredded pork served on fried green plantains. Everything was well seasoned and well made, especially the shredded pork, which was tender and juicy. It was a very generous portion for the price. The Lomo de Cerdo was so good! The pork was well seasoned and cooked, and wasn't tough to cut through. It was juicy enough and I enjoy it with the beans and rice. This was also a really generous portion and filled up my entire plate. The Arepa Combinacion was also really good and was a very generous portion. I wish the chicharron wasn't as oily but it was still really tasty. I loved the Lulo, which tastes like passionfruit mixed with citrus. It was a very unique flavor that's tart but also sweet. The Burojo was also really delicious and tasted like a milkshake when blended with the milk. It has a malty taste and is moderately sweet. I enjoyed both drinks. Overall, this is a great spot with delicious food that's generous with its portion and decent with the price. It was fairly busy when we went but seating didn't take too long. I recommend popping by if you're in the area and looking for some good food!

The reviews on this place are WAY too low! We had an absolutely delicious Colombian feast for $13.95 each (Friday special)! We were stuffed and so happy after a very early morning flight into LaGuardia. 1000% recommend!

My good friend and I were in the neighborhood and we were craving Colombian food. So we decided to dine at Cositas Ricas. This restaurant is located on 79th Street and Roosevelt Avenue in Queens, NYC. We took the E train to 74th Street and then walked 5 blocks under the 7 Train tracks. There are loads of Spanish restaurants in this area. FYI, we have been to other Colombian restaurants here, but thought we would give this place a chance. We absolutely enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. This place is definitely family oriented maybe it's because we'd went for dinner at 7PM EST on a Thursday night. Totally liked how spacious this place is with loads of seats both indoor and outdoor. We'd sat indoor. They had a huge selection of appetizer, entree, dessert and drinks. I'd say this place is definitely budget friendly. Their meal portion is huge. I'd ordered breaded boneless chicken, fried plantains, a scoop of rice, loads of onions and some salad on the side. It was only $17 USD. My friend and I'd decided to share this meal. There was no way I was going to finish it all by myself. I'd also ordered a strawberry margarita which was pretty delicious. Overall I had a a delicious meal and was completely satisfied. The staff here was very chilled and welcoming!

I've been coming here for 20 years and was sooo happy to see this place still open when I was visiting NY. It hasn't changed and the food is still as yummy as I remember it. If you want authentic Colombian food this place definitely doesn't disappoint. Service is great, food is amazing. Their Colombian baked goods are soooo delish! Definitely take a few to go home with. Whether you're from queens or visiting definitely check this place out.

I walked in around 11 AM looking for something delicious and satisfying. It's a cold brutal wintry day think 30 degrees in NYC. I felt like something hot, so I went with the daily special: chicken soup. It tasted yummy. And I had no wait. I went in with my good friend so it wasn't hard to find seating. The decor is decent, but it's kind of like a diner but cuter. The service was okay. It is neither rapid or fast. I had table service, and my waiter spoke English and Spanish. Our meals (calentado and sopa) didn't take a long time. I also found the food pretty good. I definitely left feeling full, and it tasted flavorful to me. I also saw that there was plenty of seating next to the window letting in all the light and also more outdoor seating for warmer weather. I have to recommend that it's not the place if you need to get in and get out. I see some people ordering take out so that's an option as well. All around me, I observe families having a blast just chilling inside and enjoying the meals. It seems like a good place to me. I would return!

Wow , this place is just wow . We came Sunday Easter ; my dad loves this place . We had to wait 40 min for a table , my sister when in and out her name and number , lady said they will CALL her . Lies ! We waited and no one called her. I went to ask and I see a family got sat down when they came after us. I told the lady what about us ? They said my sisters name was already sat down . I said no , she is here . She said Jazmin already sat down : wtf? I told the manager he said " usted se puede enojar Todo que pueda, pero yo ya no puedo hacer nada" like excuse me wtf !! How dare he speaks like that to as customer and how dare you just say that and shrugged his shoulders . I love cositas ricas but now , forget you. We went to Pollo A la grasa 2 new favorite place for us and , GOOD BYE COSITAS RICAS !

We have waked past this place for 2 yrs since living in the neighborhood and one random day decided to actually try it and we were so amazed by the variety of the dishes. We always do a pitcher of a medium sangria. Its quite a lot for 2 people and you will definitely leave tipsy. Steaks are pretty good and everything can be shared because they are all latge portions! Money well spent and the service is quite amazing. They are all very attentive. If I do have to say, a little bit on top as in 2 occasions trying to clear our plates that we are still working on. . Food here is amazing, local vibe. What more can you ask for?

My friend and I was looking for a Colombian restaurant to try in Jackson Heights and we randomly decided to go here. Huge portions for the price, so make sure you come with an empty stomach...our meals were well made and seasoned. Plenty of Colombian locals were eating there...loved the lively diner vibe during lunch! I tried the Super Bandeja - it's a big platter with rice, fried pork, grounded meat, chorizo, egg, plantain, arepa, and avocado. I sampled my friend's dish - the Chicken Churrasco. It was grilled chicken with salad (tasted kinda like cole slaw), fried cassava, and rice. Pros: 24/7, friendly and attentive waiters in cute outfits! Great bang for the buck for big platters of meaty dishes.

39. Ropa Vieja A solid deal at $12.99 with plantain AND fried yucca!
Mia K.

This is a mainstay of Little Colombia. Been around for ages, at least since the 90s when I was in my 20s needing to eat (and wanting to eat well) late at night after partying. I've moved out of Queens long ago, but still come here when I visit family and friends, and still only when I want a hearty meal when other places have closed for the night. Read between the lines... I wouldn't come here during the day when it's busy and service is less than stellar. I understand the poor reviews. The 4 stars I'm giving is for dining past 10pm. The other diners at that time look like they are there for the same reason... stumbling from the nightclubs next door, coming off the train after a long day of work, or in my case, wanting solid food to share with loved ones before I head back to NJ. See my photo and you'll know why my eyes light up at the food when it arrives. I've never had a problem with service, but I do have a problem with crooked tables and subpar cleanliness, hence the docking of 1 star.

Best Colombian food!

Why 4 stars? Because these arepas were different, but enjoyable…read more --- --- --- To-date, I apparently have only had Venezuelan arepas and wasn't aware of how different Colombian arepas were. Colombian arepas (or at least the ones here) come with a sweet, corn tortilla and are more open faced: to be eaten with a fork. In the past, I've had flour tortillas that are designed more like a taco and eaten as a handheld. So despite the differences, I (and my friends) enjoyed our meal. Let the official record state, I ordered the arepas con queso with chorizo. We had plans to eat our way through Jackson Heights, but because a couple of the places we planned to visit were closed, we actually just mostly hung out here and enjoyed our arepas of the sweet and open-faced variety. It was a good afternoon.

This was my first time trying an arepa, and honestly it was one of the best introductions I could…read morehave asked for. Before this, if someone mentioned arepas, I probably would have confused them with pupusas, which I'd only seen at street fairs and thought of as more of a sweet item. I had no idea they came in savory versions too. I went with the carne asada arepa, and the beef was fresh, juicy, and cooked just right. It's so common for places to overcook little chunks of beef, but here it was perfect. Each arepa is big enough to split between two people, so the price feels very fair. The filling was generous, with beef packed inside and even overflowing out the sides. They also serve the arepas with a rack of five or six sauces to choose from. Some were spicy, and one had a sweet condensed milk flavor if you like a mix of sweet and savory. My go to ended up being this green mayonnaise sauce which I assumed was like some sort of a lime mayo, which added the perfect tartiness to the rich cheese filling.
