When you walk in you smell the bread baking in the back. Its the kind of smell that you'd expect when walking into a Colombian bakery. I started off with a pan de bono and buñuelo. The pan de bono was delicious but I honestly expected more from the buñuelo, it wasn't fresh so I think that affected the flavor. After that I ordered a desayuno los paisitas which was amazing. The portions were huge and everything was tasty. I got huevos pericos which is scrambled eggs with tomatoes and onions ( I recommend getting it this way.) I got it with steak and it comes with an arepa rice and beans. I took this all down with a delicious cup of Colombian Coffee. The lady serving us was nice and attentive. This review is purely based on the Pandebono (Almojabana) and their baked empanadas (which I gobbled prior to photographing). After having visited Colombia, it is hard to buy Colombia bread made here that will even come close to heavenliness of it from Cali, home of the best almojabanas I have ever had. This place is damn close. Their pandebono is light, slightly chewy and baked just right. It amazing how close it comes to the mouth feel of the best one in Cali, Colombia. Many other Colombian bakeries in NYC make theirs very dense thus losing that heavenly mouth feel. The bald empanadas we're amazing, not dry on the inside and the crust was perfectly soft but at the same time perfectly baked. I will eventually try other items and updated if needed. Got a quick snack for lunch. ordered some tequeños and a few empanadas. Service was good given that it was a busy day. Any time I pass by, the restaurant is always full so decided to give it a try. Tip: have them reheat any treats from the glass because while it seems to be a warm area to store them in, it is not. The empanadas were rock solid cold and the tequeños were room temperature. The tequeños here are huge and very appealing if you're a fan of them like I am but these were unsavory. Given that She didn't have any sauce for them. Tequeños dough was like having a croissant. This has been one of my favorite places to get a quick great lunch and the bread is really amazing , I would of giving this place 5 stars but the server was quite opportunistic and was not careful when charging the items and also be aware that the tip is already included and didn't tell us , the Venezuelan waitress didn't give me the check I had to ask her because I notice the price wasn't right , it's pretty shady so just be aware, other than that the food is always great very good flavor and freshness read more

Well, I got banned from going to their "fine establishment"Because, I asked them why are the cooks not WEARING A MASK !!! For $30 we had two water smoothies, that were healthy yet had subpar flavor and not smoothies rather fruit juice mixed with water. The eggs, beans and rice accompanied by a small arepa with cheese tastes real good. The food portions are big! My favorite treat there was the Guyaba bread ring at 1.50-- it was as big as my face and sprinkled with light granulated sugar. I'm a big fan of coffee so when I had theirs, it tasted very watered down. Just like milk and water. I really wanted to like this place since it's so close to home and normally I love Colombian coffee but this was so disappointing. I did try to give them other chances but the service can be a hit or miss and the breads are super cold which is odd to me for the morning rush. The last straw for me was when I ordered their Avena drink. It is a oatmeal drink and it tasted so sour I couldn't drink it. I only had one sip threw it out and never went back here again. read more

First time at this bakery and definitely won't be my last. I love getting buñuelos and pandebona from Colombian bakeries. The ones I had today were beyond good. They were hot and fresh. You can see the cook frying them behind the glass so you know that they will be nice and hot when you get them. People were coming in and out of the bakery so that is an even better indication of the quality of their food. Not overly greasy but just the perfect amount of buttery goodness when you bite into the pandebona. I'll be back!!!! read more

I would have given this place 5 stars BUT.... Our waitress spilled beans down the back of my mom's really nice new wool coat without telling her! The least she could have done was told her so we could have cleaned it off right away. As we walked into her apartment I was like "oh no mom a bird shit on you." Then we realized that wasn't bird poop it was their delicious beans!! The food is authentic and inexpensive. I rather eat here after church instead of going to over priced Nevada diner. Obviously their menu isn't as extensive as the diner but if you want delicious Spanish food this place is on point. I suggest the breaded fried pork chop and rice and beans with sweet plantains! I came here with my family for lunch. It was four of us. We ordered two of the huge bandeja paisa platters, four empanadas and three coffees. Since the bandeja paisa dish is so big we asked for little plates so that we could split the platters we ordered among the four of us. They gave us the four little plates without saying anything. At the end of our meal we still had some leftover and asked for a takeout container. They gave us one and then offered another, of which we declined. Then we got the bill. They ended up charging us $0.50 for each of the little plates and for the takeout container..adding up to $2.50 extra on the bill plus they automatically added a 10% tip. We were surprised that they charged us for the plates. They never told us that if we wanted extra plates for the meal that it would cost us $0.50 each dish. No warning what so ever. If we knew that, we would've said forget it or maybe opted for 2 extra plates instead of 4. We were pretty polite throughout our meal; said thank you a lot and complimented their food. Plus, we've been there before and they did not charge us for an extra plate or for tiny take out container. It is fine if they want to charge for the plates but at least give us a heads up, and let us decide if we still want the plates. It's like they just made up these fees out of no where. We like the food but the customer service is subtly rude and unwelcoming. It's unfortunate that we will never go back there again, but we can always get coffee and Colombian food somewhere else and without any unexpected, surprise fees. read more

Do not assume the prices on the menu are what you will be charged for each plate. Their excuse for charging more for what is shown on their menus is because "they havent gotten a chance to change prices" even though this has happened twice already. They then told me they usually let people know the menu is wrong when they order. Overall check your receipt and ask for ACTUAL prices. To be honest the food very mediocre and should be embarrassed to sell half chorizo half chicharron and still charge 50 dollars for 2 plates. not worth the money they decided to charge and legally should show correct pricing instead of excuses. read more

We stopped here on our way home, just looking for something quick to eat, and honestly, to use the restroom. I am very happy we did. This place has really good food. I had the chuleta empanisada (breaded pork cutlet) that was outstanding. The rice&beans&salad that came with it surely hit the spot ! The wife had bistec encebollado (steak&onions). Not the best for authentic Colombian Cuisine, they barely speak a word of english, and watch out for the cashiers because they have a habit of getting easily distracted by gossiping with coworkers and give you the wrong change back.
